Went to the store at 11am to buy an iPad Air and Pen. I worked with Matt. He immediately helped me, showed me some tutorials and mentioned everything was in stock so I would walk out with what I wanted that day. He gets the iPad, says he doesn't have the stylus (not that big a deal since it would come the following day..) and we start to check out. I remind him I would like the CC and financing (I was clear about that in the first 5-10 minutes) and he walks me through that saying it only take a few seconds. It takes longer than we expect, and he moves onto other customers, I totally get that. However he only checks in 2 more times, and doesn't offer any further helps, like called the CC Bank to see what's holding me up. I have near perfect credit.. In the meantime another employee asks if I need help and I ask if there's any way he can check in on my financing request and he says no, shrugs and immediately walks away. I stood around for another 40 minutes, and could not get Matt's attention between his customers. I ended up walking out at 12:20pm. I could have just put this on another one of my existing accounts but I would not give anyone at that store the sale. read more

Walked in, explained that I needed assistance with an Iphone to Iphone transfer and was sent over to sit at a table, no one came over to see if I needed assistance. Finally I went back up to ask a representative, she looked at my phone (as I was able to figure it on my own somewhat as I was sitting there), she said yep you are all set. I have AppleCare on my iPad. I dropped the iPad and the screen broke. There's even a hole in it. I brought it to the Eastview Apple Store in Victor NY for replacement and they insisted that I had to send it in in order to be repaired and sent back to me. My AppleCare covers express replacements. So they made me go home and order the replacement from my phone. They did not even tell me I had express replacement. I discovered that in my Support app. Their service has really dropped drastically in the last several years. There's some disconnect here between the stores and the corporate. They made it a hassle and it didn't have to be. They wasted over an hour of my time between driving there waiting 20 minutes to be seen and then driving home with nothing but my still broken iPad. You could walk into this store with a broken laptop or iPhone and the wizards that work here will somehow work their magic and get it fixed. They won't tell you how their sorcery works on a practical level, but regardless they'll get your electronics working again. The only negative would be that I don't think they're allowed to sell their Apple shirts. Had a state of the art brand new exciting fusion drive imac. Was assured by all the salespeople at the time it would last for a LONG time and be everything I needed (minimal types of usage on my part). Seven years later the fusion drive has been discontinued- a failed experiment upon the customers/rubes who were convinced to buy it. It's difficult to prove planned obsolescence, but the fact that apple has declared "vintage" to now be seven years, and the fusion drive (with its moving parts) is experiencing catastrophic failure RIGHT ON CUE. Felt like I had purchased a high priced disposable car from Detroit in the 1980s. Went to the Apple store in Victor to see what they could offer to try and make it right on a replacement. Wasn't expecting a lot- just a bit of fairness. Doesn't this company sell itself as top quality and integrity? Was given a young twenties fatuous Andy Dick type person who took a customer who was justly upset and perfunctorily informed me that everything I thought and felt about my experience with this formerly topline product AND Apple's response was wrong, and I was free to go elsewhere. In essence, I was told to piss off. What I was offered was they would drop the price to ALMOST the price it was currently being sold for on Amazon and Best Buy. If you're looking to buy and want to trust everything they tell you, this place is for you. If you have a problem with their shiny toys, well, boy- are you screwed. read more

I like Apple products I wished one was closer to the city but no matter it's actually nice to go to a mall sometimes and I even went to a few stores to get some stuff. I came here as I did an order online and since I picked this location to pick up it gave you a time schedule which I appreciate because this place can get crazy. When I walked in I showed them my pick up ticket on my smart phone and ID than was instructed to go talk to this person. My tech was pleasant and helpful and the whole transaction was a breeze and she answered a few questions I had. I know a lot of people don't like to schedule online but it is what it is.. I've rarely had issues with Apple Customer Service. I am sure if you walked in they could accommodate you if you had an issue but they might make you wait cause this place is usually busy. I think Syracuse has a location and I'm not sure about Buffalo. If you live in the Rochester Metro Area this is your location at the Victor Eastview Mall. They had what I needed and usually comes thru at least for me. Staff is pretty expedient on getting you helped and being pleasant about it. Parking is the mall lot. read more

I went in to Apple Eastview to get past an issue on my iphone this past week. I had been there twice before during the summer, and the individuals helped me out of the fix. So I had reason to believe they did that sort of thing in that store, and could help me again. The person who i managed to get to help me, who claimed she was a manager, claimed they didn't do that sort of 'thing' at that store, and said the two previous individuals were wrong for having helped me this past summer. How can the previous two employees be wrong, when the end result of their efforts, was a phone fixed, and a happy customer leaving the store? This time when I left the store, I vowed to never return, and switch to android products, instead of the over-priced Apple products, where getting help of any sort, is a 'sometimes' type of thing. Luckily it was the end of the evening so it wasn't too crazy. We were able to cash in a phone upgrade and complete a screen repair on a different phone. I expected to see nothing but great reviews as we have always had great sales and service here through 4 iPhones, 3 iPads, a Mac and numerous shuffles, iPods, etc. You have to check in with a door person to get in line for the right specialist. There's definitely a pecking-order of employees so describe exactly why you are there to get one with the right expertise. This trip was simple. Trade in a Gen3 iPad for a new one. With nothing physically wrong with the old, we got $85 credit which is a good incentive to buy here. The sale went quickly and we were then turned over to a set-up person. Despite her having multiple customers at once, she juggled us well. She answered all questions and paired a keyboard too. We left thinking this was world-class service. They really need to figure out their customer service. There should be a line specifically for walk ins when someone needs a quick two minutes of time troubleshooting on their overpriced device. If the problem is going to take more than five minutes at that point they should be redirected to an appointment. When a customer shows up for assistance and they don't advertise that everything, even two minutes of help, is by appointment only for at least two days from now, they need to figure out another solution. There is no harm in keeping a line for quick solutions walk ins. The young man guarding the door was rude about it, too. read more

(I'm so mad right now) I came to the Apple store to get diagnosis on my iPhone 6S. I was several hours early for my appointment and the store wasn't ready to be open, but an employee came out and approached me and several other bystanders and got us bumped up to be seen right away. Very cool. (This just led me to my disappointment much sooner) I was situated in the corner table closest to the front desk. I was greeted by another representative that was going to diagnose my phone. He took a look and told told me the charging port was corroded and a pin was missing. Makes sense given my charging and USB reading is messed up. The then asked me if I've ever cleaned out the port. I said yes, though it was only once after this issue occurred. Because I tried to clean it, this was deemed as abuse and the store would not honor my manufacturers warranty. My recommendation is to do a device swap by purchasing a new phone. I inquired if just the charging port could be replaced. He said no. (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!) Though he understands my arduous situation, he ordered me a new iPhone 6S while I explored other options. I said I will look into things. Overall it was a nice looking store, cool stuff to look at, and has friendly staff. (I will never step foot in here again) Note: A few days later I went to Fix in a Zip and got the impossible charging port replaced in an hour for cheap, and my phone has been perfect ever since. They DO make it easy for walk-in's and literally any and all of the lines can help you so I'm a little confused at another review here. In fact they have 3-4 employees with iPads at each doorway ready to greet you creating four easy and short lines. They can put you in the system and for as little as 5 min later or if like me didn't have an appointment on a busy Saturday it was 15 min and I went and bought something and came right back (perfect). My laptop which needed major help was shipped off on a Monday and returned Thursday. I am very pleased. read more

Since the dark ages of Apple, I've been an loyal user. My first Mac was a IIFX and I've owned many of the significant models since; Newtons, Performas, the Pismo Power Book, various G4 towers, the original G5, etc. Before this Apple store landed at Eastview Mall, Rochester's source for Mac sales and service were limited to a handful of independent Mac stores. Mac Shack, Coremac and Mac to Mac were the only options. What these businesses offered was a very personal, one on one experience, where problems and questions were addressed both thoughtfully and politely. As a result, I have come to expect the same buying experience at all Mac stores. When I moved to NYC, Mikey's Hook Up, Tekserve, and J&R delivered the customer experience I expected. The Eastview Apple Store has occupied a retail space in the mall for a number of years, giving Rochesterians an opportunity that was once limited to major cities only. Unfortunately, my experiences with this location from the time it opened were less than satisfactory. On many occasions the staff was either aloof or too engaged in their own conversations to assist me or other customers. The times I brought in a mac product for legitimate in-warranty repairs, I was turned down. Even when I wanted to go in to buy something immediately, I had to wait while two associates pontificated over the iPad. Having visited the three Apple Stores in NYC and the one in Buffalo, these negative experiences seem to be limited to the Eastview location only. Now when I visit Rochester, I will only visit the independent Mac stores for my computing needs. My experiences at the Eastview location do not change my positive opinion of Apple or their products. If anything, the only negative opinion I hold is that of the management and staff at this location. I guess all the technology in the world cannot augment customer service. read more

Visiting the Apple Store is like going to the Bose store. Prepare the reality warp vortex! While I love Apple products, I'm averse to paying top dollar for EVERYTHING. While I understand the pricing structure for Apple branded products, it's the high dollar amount for accessories here that kill me. Pro tip: folks, shop around! You do NOT have to pay MSRP for peripherals. THERE ARE NO DEALS here on that stuff. Take one of the plentiful coupons proffered by Office Max or Staples and get your external hard drive, mice, router etc. there. You do NOT need a Airport to connect you Mac to the internet, a Linksys/Belkin/Netgear/D-Link router will do just fine. Plus, if you follow some simple steps you can take ANY external hard drive and format it for use with Time Machine. There, I've saved you $40! I've also experienced some varying luck with products covered under Apple Care. I detect some favoritism when it comes to coverage. Perhaps it's just me, but when I took my daughter's MacBook in for what I thought would be a minor repair, I was shocked to find that I had to replace the entire display panel for her laptop at the tune of $700 plus. While I still get Apple Care on every device I purchase there, it was a troubling experience. read more

Where to start. The apple support after your purchase is the worst of any company I have ever dealt with. And the east view location is the shining example of how bad they can truly be. I needed a new laptop and decided to get the Apple Mac book pro. After attempting to set it up and have it sync with all my other Mac accounts and products, I found it wouldn't access half of my iTunes account, the downloads showed as on the computer, but wouldn't play them, it gave an error message. I called apple care support. Explained my problem, they set up an appointment at the Genius Bar for me. So I drive out to east view to get some help. They couldn't have been more dismissive and obnoxious. The "genius" would not even open the laptop to look at it. He said they is nothing he can do to help unless the computer is broken and that I shouldn't have been sent to the store. Where should I be sent?! Seeing that the laptop is less than a week old, I inquired about returning it. He said," fine, I'll need the box an everything that came with it. " So I am currently driving back to the city to get the box, so I can make an appointment to make a return. I have always heard how great apple customer service was. I guess my standards of service must differ greatly. If you feel you need the prestige of buying the apple products, you better hope you don't get the one bad apple, because they will waste your time and not help you in any way. read more

I've been to this Apple Store a few times for various issues with my phone, as long as I've made an appointment I've gotten help from someone. Today I went there because I'm thinking of purchasing an Apple product and I had some questions. I literally waited 40 minutes before I had to finally chase someone down and tell them I needed help. The woman was short with me at first and when she realized I wanted to buy something she was immediately friendlier. I work in customer service and I've never been in a store and completely ignored by every single employee for 40 minutes. I know they're busy, but at least a hello would suffice. I had time to color an entire picture on an iPad and check out the product I was considering while I waited. After I stood up an employee rushed over and grabbed the stool and completely ignored me before he put it on the other side of the store and then continued to text on his phone. I've been to the Apple store at Eastview about 6 times. The service has always been good up until today. Today I bought a new phone which for most people is not a small purchase. The salesperson Matt was very rude and uninvested in the transaction. He was rapidly tapping his fingers and distractedly looking all over the store while we were working together. He constantly had to ask me to repeat my questions because he wasn't paying attention to begin with. He repeatedly mispronounced my name even after I corrected him. It was apparent that I was a nuisance to him and not a valued customer. Everyone has bad days, but if you're a retail salesperson, you have to at a bare minimum be polite. In fact, aside from operating a cash register or some variation thereof, it's literally ALL you have to do. Usually, had I more positive experiences than negative at a store, I would rate it a 4, which I think is fair. The difference with the Apple store is you are supposed to be getting the "Apple experience" and most people there are spending thousands of dollars. It's just not appropriate to have rude salespeople staffing a store like this. read more

I've had ongoing issues with the iPhone SE. two phones later (both replaced by insurance because they randomly broke), apple is still incredibly hard to reach for issues, and when you call the store they refuse to troubleshoot over the phone but insist you come in for an appointment. I needed my iPhone X back glass replaced after it cracked. I want to the Apple store and they said it would cost $600 to get it fixed and that I should just buy a new phone. Then I went to Cellaxs and Mouhuad Souleymane was about to replace the glass for a fraction of the price of Apple in less than 2 hours. He was very polite and professional. I will definitely use them in the future. Very convenient! The Apple store just wants you to upgrade. They have no interest in fixing broken devices. This store runs a scam. On Friday 6/23 went there for an iPhone 14. They offered $20.00 trade in value for my old phone. But the store was very busy, and I came back on Monday 6/26. Now they said 0 trade in. I argued what changed; they said we don't remember offering you $20. Indirectly they hinted that I was a liar. I bought a $900 phone, and I was lying for $20.00? wow!! Thanks, Apple, for treating your customer this way. The staff/supervisor are rude and unhelpful. Apple itself is a sleazy company when it comes to pricing. They were showing $799.00 for 128 GB iPhone 14; in the fine print it says this price was for Verizon customers. The actual price is $829.00, yet another fraud and scam. I am done with Apple and with this store. Go by Samsung Android, much better product, and more ethical company. They are transparent in pricing. Explained problem, they took my I pad and proceeded to delete my email account as well as all my contacts . They could not get the email back on the iPad. Told me it was a yahoo problem. 2.5 hours later,problem still not fixed,still no email. Left and called yahoo. Yahoo fixed in 5 minutes and laughed that apple could not fix a simple problem. I have been using apple products for close to 10 years and shopping at the Apple Store and have always had a good experience. However, last night I had to make an appointment due to a recall of my battery and had a really bad experience. First, I had been noticing something was wrong with my battery for some time but wasn't sure the cause. I was in Europe last week and wasn't able to take as many pictures as I wanted to because my Phone kept turning off. I had heard through someone that the batteries on certain phones were recalled, so I made an appointment. I had a very small crack in the corner of my phone that had been there for at least a year. It is underneath the first layer of glass and has never been a problem. When we spoke to the first salesperson they said that if they broke the glass further while replacing the defunct battery, I would have to pay for a new screen. When asked about this, and how that is possible as it would be their fault the battery was faulty and therefore their screen was broken in the process of replacing it, he did not have an answer. The next saleswoman who addressed us made us go over to another table stating she was "helping another customer." We immediately observed that she was not, and there was just another (plainclothed) salesman at that table. I believe this is because we were asking questions about the policy that they were unable to answer individually, as there was no good explanation. The saleswoman was at times inappropriate- outright confronting me about whether or not the faulty battery was a "recall" and rude- telling me "it's on you" if they broke the phone while replacing the battery. The bottom line is- regardless of the cowardly and rude way we were treated by the staff, and even though my phone turned out to be fine- the policy that is in place by Apple, that if they damage your phone in the process of replacing a faulty battery, that "it's on you"- this is pretty concerning. I had always thought that apple had great customer service policies in place- but I am beginning to see this is not the case and and we're considering not using apple at all at this point- this from a household who had purchased over a dozen iPhones since 2007, 2 apple watches, and a MacBook Pro. We are considering contacting the BBB as well given apple's A rating which at this point does not seem well deserved. Edit: I forgot to mention when we went to pick up the phone, we waited 50 minutes...past closing for them to return it. There was a large line to get in which is understandable because of COVD, but apparently you're somehow supposed to have an appointment set up ahead of time which the apple site does not mention. We waited on line for 30 mins thinking they would let people in as people leave the store, but when we got to the front, we were told that the next available appointment is in 2 hours. So we waited on line to be told to come back after walking around a mall for 2 hours during a pandemic just to wait on line again to get into the store. read more

The Apple Store is an interesting place to say the least. Every time I walk in, there's a bunch of employees mingling with each other and can never help me with my specific problem. I always get handed down to the one employee who's assisting 2 customers at the same time. One time I had to correct the type of MacBook I had in order to get proper assistance. Employees: please don't argue with a customer unless you're absolutely sure what you're talking about. Otherwise, you look silly when said customer proves you wrong. Additionally, trust in your knowledge and assistance quickly diminishes. I only visit this store when all other options have been exhausted, which is a rarity. read more
