I honestly almost drove all the way to Stamford because of the reviews here, but I needed to get my MBP fixed ASAP since the battery needed to be serviced, and that's not something I was willing to risk! I walked in and asked an employee where to sign in for my appointment, and he happily directed me to the right person, who signed me in, and had me sit over at the counter. I was promptly greeted by the genius who had me explain my problem to him. I also handed him my power cord to check, because I had issues with that as well (it was old). He said I'd need a new one ($61, damn! but I needed it...). As he was checking out the battery, I asked him a bunch of random questions that I had, and he happily answered everything. He was very knowledgable and happy to help. He even answered some questions for other geniuses working at the bar. He ran some diagnostics, and told me the battery was okay for now, but I would need a new one any day now, and it was my choice (I bought a new one). Then he said, "Hm...I think I can get you the power cord for free..." And he did! I had to pay for the battery, of course, but the power cord (just the part with the skinny wire) was free. While checking for scratches, I mentioned I had a couple screws missing, and he said they'd put in a couple of their locking screws so they couldn't fall out (free of charge, of course!). He said it'd be ready in an hour or so, and that he'd call me when it was done. Perfect! I left, and came back in a little while when I got the call, and he showed me how everything was better. Then I realized my computer looked immaculate. He cleaned it for me! It seriously looked brand new. I'm really sorry for everyone that had a bad experience, but for everyone else, don't expect a bad experience just based on a few people that had a bad time. I will happily go back to this store any time, as it was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. read more

Went into this location with a very complex porting issue. I worked with Jon Murray. He told me he didn't exactly know how to address my transfer. He was realistic upfront and set my expectations in advance. After 10 minutes or so of research he was able to successfully transfer out my number and activate my new iPhone 5s. The genuis was nice and explained every step while working on my laptop. However, the problem was not diagnosed properly. The genius suggested that I send in my laptop for repair for $280+tax so that the issues will be resolved, including replacing the battery. I was not convinced that my laptop had so many serious issues so I left. After a I did some research, I found that with my laptop "symptoms" I could just do a quick SMC reset. I did the reset and voila-- problem solved! That would have been $280! I wonder how many laptops they've sent for repairs when all it needs is a quick reset or a simple solution! read more

I recently cracked the screen on my iphone. The technician who worked with me was so helpful. I was happy I had purchased Apple's warranty because I only had to pay $49 for a replacement phone. Even though they had received and signed the package, they were telling me that my computer is not even shipped and were asking me to contact Apple Online Store. the reviews of this store are shocking, I've had nothing but positive experiences in this store. you're greeted immediately entering the store and asked if you need help, the employees are nice and knowledgable. I've had an employee show me something i never even knew about my iPhone! they also showed me the apple store app so i can purchase my own accessories if i wanted. cool! & I already knew i needed an appointment for the genius bar, i wasn't upset about scheduling one, i know some people were upset that they didn't know about that part. just think of it like a doctors office.. and the technicians are the doctors for your iPhones! love the new haven store, always happy to go back. read more

Writing this review from inside the store on one of their fancy iMacs. So far, pretty disappointing visit. I scheduled an appointment to have a broken Airport Express looked at, and they're already running 15 minutes behind. The less than helpful man we checked in with told us they're very understaffed and it would be a 15-20 minute wait. (Shouldn't their online scheduling system be aware of their staffing issues and only schedule appointments they can handle?) Anyway, while we waited, we decided to check out the AppleTV. The TV itself was off, and when we turned it on and tried watching some programs, it would show a 2-3 second video preview and then stop and give an error message. Presumably a network issue in the store, but again -- this is *Apple.* I think they should have a handle on how to set up proper networking. It looks like they could still use another week or two to iron out some kinks. Edit: after finishing up at the Genius Bar, our Genius was a great help! Very friendly, helpful, and professional! After my old mac had finally crashed after 8 years, I bought a new mac book pro at the store in New Haven. Very disappointed in follow through with customer service. I went back a few days later to try to reboot my old comp to see if I could recover old files and transfer to a drive. Turns out all I needed was a new charger. The man at the genius bar seemed annoyed by my presence and actually said a remark about how boring his appointments were etc. etc. Maybe some staff evaluations should be done... read more

This Apple store just like the others works off the "GREED" principle. I went to find out how to remove a pin from my iphone and ended up purchasing a new MacBook Pro. I agreed to buy it as long as the Apple reps would transfer all of the information on my other MacBook Pro onto my new one. They had agreed, but when Chrissy, the sales rep came over to deliver my products, same day, I emphasized to her that I had agreed to purchase a new MacBook Pro AS LONG AS THE APPLE REPS WOULD TAKE ALL THE INFO FROM MY OTHER MACBOOK PRO AND INSTALL IT ONTO MY NEW MACBOOK PRO. Chrissy commenced to giving pieces of a backup system saying: "I don't think the other reps understood what you meant" I SAID YES, THEY UNDERSTOOD. IT WAS JUST THAT THEIR GREED TO UNLOAD A NEW SYSTEM AT ANY COST GOT IN THEIR WAY. As it turned out Chrissy and Pat sent my new computer to the back to have the info transferred to my new MacBook Pro. Pat was smart enough not to overpromise me a 24 hr delivery. He said it may take 48 hrs. I agreed to the 48 hrs. And it was ready in 24 hours. The next day i called the New Haven, CT store to check on my new MacBook Pro and the inefficient Apple sales lady came back to the phone to say: "No, it's not ready" Well Duh! Yeah it;s not ready BUT WHEN WILL IT BE READY? She nicely asked me if I wanted her to go back and find out when they thought it might be ready. I said yes and she said early tomorrow. I okad, then latter that eve around 8 pm Apple sent an email saying my computer was ready. l picked up my new MacBook Pro with a one on one session that the Apple Sales rep fella who initially helped me to understand that the pins COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM MY IPHONE 6, URGH!, suggested i take upon pick up of my computer: EXCELLENT SUGGESTION!! When I picked up my new MacBook Pro i had a One on One session with Larry. Larry was an honest guy, BUT. i told him that I was going to send my old MacBook Pro to my mother indicating that I was going to send it in the new box. We It did not fit into the new box so i squooze it into the MacBook Cover box and sent the new box and new MacBook Cords to my mother from the UPS that the Asian male sales rep was nice enough to point out was just down the street within walking distance. I wanted my mother to have the new cords because she is more stationary and I am on the road and living out of my Nissan Versa, literally so I wanted her to have the new cords. I get on the MTA train from New Haven, CT to Grand Central, plug in my old MacBook Pro cord and notice that it is not a snug fit. So I call the New Haven, CT store and speak with an African American sales lady and ask her: "Has Apple changed the cords from Macbook Pro to MacBook Pro" She says she is not sure, them comes back saying that as long as i have and she rattles off some numbers of 50 Watts? I tell her I can not see the numbers on the bottom of my old cord, but I will shine my bright light and try to see them. At this point someone in the Apple store musta told her that NO THE OLD CORD IS NOT GONNA FIT MY NEW MACBOOK PRO. Rather than her tell me this she twice OFFERS TO SWITCH ME TO APPLECARE SO THAT THEY CAN HELP ME??? I'M BEGINNING TO SMELL A RAT. She then said when your back in CT you can purchase the cord here. I SAID: "WELL DUH! I'M ON THE WAY TO GRAND CENTRAL STATION AND I NEED THE CORD NOW" So i hang up out of frustration and realize HEY APPLE'S EVERYWHERE. i attempt to call an Apple Store on the Upper West Side of NY, nearest to my daughter's apt and guess what I'm quickly switched over to "APPLECARE" AGAIN I SMELL A RAT...I'VE CALLED A LOCAL STORE AND WOMAN COMES ON THE PHONE SAYING SHE'S NOT AT THE LOCAL STORE I CALLED. WELL NOW I'M LEARNING THAT REGARDLESS OF WHETHER I WANT TO SPEAK WITH THE LOCAL STORE AND GET DIRECTIONS. APPLE HAS DECIDED THAT SINCE I'M NOT PURCHASING NEW STUFF IN NEED TO SPEAK WITH APPLECARE? I told the Applecare rep who was not at the upper west side store that she was in the middle of a story and i would just appreciate getting directions to the Upper West Side Apple Store so that I could buy a new cord. She assured me that they had the cords, EVEN THOUGH IS WAS NEVER IN DOUBT THAT THEY DID HAVE THE CORD!!! She also gave me the best directions that she could possibly give me. Their service is superb. They are helpful, knowledgable, and leave you with a smile. They have lots of little gadgets to add to your apple products. You can try everything in their hardware lineup if you're willing to spend the time there. They have people who will answer all your questions, but you usually have to make an appointment. I have visited many Apple Stores and found all but New Haven, Ct to be great. New Haven is the opposite. I own virtually every Apple product, IMAC, IMAC Air, iPad's, IPOD's IPhones. I have had a lot of problems with an IPhone and had it repaired once, replaced once and now it is dropping calls and has poor receptivity. I drove 40 mins to the New Haven Store today with out an appointment and even offered to buy a new phone. The answer, we can't help you without an appointment. They sent me a way and told me to make an appointment which I did the other times the phone didn't work. I have a company with 2300 employees that are predominately Apple users. I will now make sure that changes. read more

I agree with the earlier reviewer - if you are not here for a Genius Bar appointment, then it feels somewhat strange, indeed. And the Genius Bar appointments are something else, too. I recently setup an appointment for 11:30, and walked in at 11:20 to 'register' my presence. I was told that I would be seen in 10 minutes. At 11:40 I was still waiting for somebody to attend to me. Then I walked over to the receiving person, only to be given a rote line that 'somebody would attend to me as soon as he/she was available.' Then why set up a 11:30 appointment?! I was finally seen at 11:50, and I missed a 12:00 noon appointment as a result. There is just this atmosphere of 'Hey, we are Apple, so we are very cool...and you better understand it' attitude about this store. I once took my daughter's MacBook which frequently had USB port issues, and was told 'well, may be you don't use it correctly!' Well, well! read more

What they know, they immediately help me with and what they don't know, they quickly find the answer to whatever issue I am having. I always have a positive experience at the store in New Haven - one on one, genius and sales. The manager and staff do all they can to give customer satisfaction. Having spent 5 hours in the store buy to phones and being told that our current phones were valued at $50 only to find out when we went through the process of mailing them in, that they had no value. Every time I go to this particular Apple store I am greeted in a friendly manner. Just wished they seemed a little more interested in assisting me as opposed to coming off as routine. Anytime I have an issue it gets resolved in a timely manner. The associates are engaging and down to Earth, not really standoffish or having an elitist attitude. I've always been in love with the way Apple designes it's store. Plus it's great not having to travel far to go to an Apple store. No store is perfect but this is a very good store and I will continue to make big and small purchases at this location. read more

Had an appointment yesterday at 330 because the west farms store is closed for renovations. We arrived a half hour early and they took us right away. The staff helped us quickly and replaced my brothers screen. I've been turned away at the west farms store for arriving 15 minutes early and was pleasantly surprised. My problem was not solved! I went to this huge store in New haven for the battery replacement program offered by apple. I called the store, I was told my phone WAS ELIGIBLE. I dropped my phone. 3 HOURS LATER I picked up my phone they said They could not replace it because I had replaced the screen before! What the battery issue has to do with the screen??? My MacBook Pro needed a hard drive cable replaced. Quoted $59, then get a phone call ~30 minutes later saying my Mac is heavily damaged, and needs $750 for some flat rate repair. They won't touch it, won't do the repair. I pick my laptop up and drive to the Westfarms mall Apple store. I made an appointment to meet with the genius bar to return two 5s chargers that were no longer working. They had so many workers working that it was great. Very well staffed. Within minutes of walking in, I checked in, and Jon was helping me exchange my chargers for brand new ones. Jon was extremely helpful. It's an Apple store: so great service and products are a given. This location is no exception to that rule of awesomeness. You can park right across the street for less than a dollar, the employees are knowledgeable and quick with those check out gadgets ... never knew I could spend so much money so quickly. I would love to know who the "genius" was who hired these geniuses..the technician was useless. I got a brand new iPhone 7 plus today and I got the SIM card stuck in the slot...after a trip to Att I was instructed to go to the Apple Store. Walked in and it was busy..the tech didn't introduce himself (lucky him because his name would be all over this review) but I explained my situation, he grabbed my phone and it seemed like he could fix it. Well an uneventful 45 minutes later...he arrives with my SIM card still suck in the phone. I walked out extremely frustrated..a little while later while parked I looked at the SIM card and was able to get it out in 2 minutes. I couldn't believe how easy it was for me..if I knew it was that easy I would have done that first. Thanks Apple Store for nothing! read more

Definitely the worst apple store in the world, they are bullying customers, so just avoid being there. I bought a iPhone 6 from them yesterday, and found a bright dot on the screen. When I went back there today, they "tested" it, and told me that the phone was being "modified". They not only refused to replace it for me, but also revoked my warranty!!! what the Fuck?! I asked them to give a printed test report, they did'd dare to do that. I then asked them to say the conclusion in front of my camera, they didn't dare to so that to. So, basically, they were saying, they only thing you can do is suck it. Especially ludicrous is that they told me "you can try to call apple care, but they won't do anything about it too" I still called Apple care anyway, and they agree to check it and repair it for me, because they also highly doubt that I can do something in 24 hours. They also said that if they were the guy in the store, they will at least open the phone to see exactly what's going on, not just do some so called "test". And even if the phone is "touched", they can't guarantee that it was done by the customer because they are not testing every phone they made, and they can't be sure that every phone that made is absolutely perfect. Therefore, my conclusion is, Apple is good, this store is not. So, just try to avoid going to this place. read more

Probably the worst customer service I've ever encountered. Had issue with my iPhone and also wanted to purchase a computer all in the same trip. When I arrived at the store I was told I would have to wait 3 hours to see a representative to see what was wrong with my phone. Incredible because there were associates standing around talking with each other! If you've ever been in an Apple Store you will know what I'm talking about - there are more associates on the floor than any other store, yet they wanted me to wait 3 hours! I was told, very bluntly by an associate that "I should have made an appointment from home on my iphone using their store app". Well since my phone wasn't working that would be a little difficult to do - he had no sympathy in that respect and said "well you should have used your pc". After speaking with a manager I was given an appointment for an hour away so I decided to use that hour to purchase a pc. Steve was assigned to me by the manager and being new to owning a Mac I really needed to know the best system to purchase. I first asked "which pc is on line for $xxx" and he pointed to a model he was standing next to and then PROCEEDED TO TEXT SOMEONE ON HIS PHONE while I was talking! Steve did not ask me any questions, did not give me any information instead he kept looking at his phone, kept looking around the store and every time I tried to ask him a question, it was like I was asking him to move a mountain. When I asked if this model I was looking at was in stock his answer was "I don't know we run out of these often" and that was it. I finally looked at him and said "Could you please see if it's in stock as I would like to purchase a pc today". He said "it's probably here, do you want it?". I found his customer service horrible and decided to simply walk away and I'll probably purchase it on line instead of giving him the commission. I decided to leave the store and will go to another location for assistance. Obviously this location does not care about customers nor does the management even care about the complaints. They brush it off as they have a product they feel people want regardless of the horrible service they provide. read more

This is simply unbelievable. I bought an iPhone here and didn't check the phone in the box before I leave. I got home, realized that the phone doesn't turn on. So I returned to the store promptly asking for help. At the time it's just an hour after my purchase. Shockingly they told me the phone I returned to them is tampered. The manager literally told me they will not help me and she is not going to argue with me, ruling out any chance of conversation with them. She even said this happens all the time(what does that suppose to mean???). It felt like I was totally insulted and betrayed. I had to spend whole week making numerous calls with Apple support and eventually went to an Apple store in NYC to solve my case. The staff here is unhelpful, unprofessional and untrustworthy, and even potentially racist(the manager told me to wait yet greeted a white lady even though she came in the store after me). I would warn anyone planning to buy any stuff here: be cautious if the device they give you is REAL Apple device(especially if you are a tourist or POC, or simply don't look like native people, which is the case for us)! read more

I bought my Macbook online and wanted to pick it up. I explained this to the original person I talked with. She directed me to the wrong place. Then, she came back and told me to stand and wait for another person. This next genius then bounced me off to another person who was already helping another woman set up her new computer. I was then bounced off to another genius who was beginning to send me off to another person. I interjected myself and said, exasperated, "This is getting a little ridiculous. I'd be willing to wait in a line for service, but it is getting old being bounced from person to person." The genius proceeded to give me attitude and was cold to me as he helped me. He was very condescending and told me, "You have to realize that you're not the only customer here. There's many of you and only a few of us. Just wait you turn." Excuse me? I was willing to wait my turn, but I felt confused and decided to speak up. I guess this is the type of customer service this Apple store thinks is adequate. I'm a huge Apple fan, and longtime user of all kinds of Apple devices. I've raved over the service at other Apple Stores, like the one in Stamford, an hour away from where I live, or the NYC stores.I was thrilled when this one opened so close by--but it is unlike any of the others in terms of service, comfort, or helpfulness. Physically the accoustics are awful. When the late afternoon sun is out, it comes straight into the store, making it hard to look in some directions. It just feels uncomfortable. There are plenty of personnel on the floor, but often they are chatting in groups and it is hard to break in to get some help--to buy something! The Genius Bar concierges, though, ar emy biggest complaint. They are not friendly or helpful, they almost act triumphant when they tell you there's no way anyone can see you. One time we were 5 minutes late for a Genius Bar appt (hello? sucky traffic and parking downtown?) and they told me to leave, there wasn't any chance I could see anyone then or later in the day .I offered to hang out or kill time downtown and return. Really? Might not someone else be late or just not show up? No I was told, with a really smug look, they would not call me or see me that day. Also, the Geniuses themselves at this Apple store seem not quite up to speed. It's like they aren't all that interested in helping you and don't want to be behind the counter. (maybe that is because the direct sun is in their eyes.). At the Stamford store, I always felt that the Geniuses enjoyed the problem solving aspect to their jobs, and really wanted to help you figure out the right solution for your (fill int he blank: computer, laptop, ipad, phone, ipod...) We purchased a new 21" iMac and brought our "old" Mac in to have the contents transferred. When we got it back we found that it did not have Word and Excel. When calling the store the Service Rep checked and found that the Office 2004 program had not been upgraded and that they would do it for $ 150 extra. This purchase including extended warranty etc was for about $ 1500 and they had the old machine two days and could have told us that they could not transfer Word and Excel. I asked to talk to the manager and was told that he was busy on the floor with customers. Reminded the Rep that I was a cistern and an unhappy one at that and that I would expect a call back within half an hour. So far two hours later: No call back by the manager. Told sales rep that next message would be to Better Business Bureau. Store's attitude is arrogant and non professional. read more
