I don't ever write reviews but I feel I have to this one time. I've had several Apple products over the years and have always been able to count on this store for purchasing all things Apple and fixing them. Yesterday my iPhone Xs stopped being able to connect to the internet. I had only had it for a few months, and it seemed it was an antenna issue. I brought it over and this guy Sam helped me take care of everything. I had Apple care so I was able to get my phone easily replaced; they had a replacement right there in the store. Then he reset my Apple watch as well to pair it to the new phone. On a side note, it's a shame that we have to purchase an extended warranty when the product is already over $1000, but that's on corporate, not the stores themselves. When I got home, my watch, which was in the process of resetting, got stuck in a bootloop (it displayed the Apple logo then went black, repeatedly and indefinitely). The next day, which was today, I brought the watch back to the store. Same as before, a short wait and I was given a specialist to help me. It turned out to be Sam again. He again was very helpful and tried everything to fix the watch in the store, and finally decided we had to send it out to get repaired. Now, I don't have the extended warranty for this watch, so I was afraid I'd have to pay the ludicrously expensive $399 repair cost (again, corporate's fault). However, they reassured me that since this problem was directly caused by them resetting the device in the store, I am covered for a repair. Super happy about that. I should also mention that I bought a screen protector at the store and got it installed there, but later that night I noticed there were bubbles and dust caught under it. I brought it back and they installed a brand new one for free. Again, fantastic (notice the theme here?). All in all, yes Apple products are expensive, but there's a reason Apple was the first (I think) company to reach a ONE TRILLION dollar valuation. It's not the crazy specs - there are many, many cheaper and higher spec phones with better displays, battery, etc. It's not the product design, although that is a major selling point (and sometimes a pain point - headphone jack removal is exhibit A). I've had many Android phones but there is one thing that keeps me coming back to Apple. It's not even their software. It is their unparalleled customer service and attention to detail that make Apple one of the best, if not THE best, electronics maker in the world. And of all the Apple stores I've ever visited, this one is the best of the best. Give Sam a raise. read more

I thought If I went to the Apple Store by YALE my phone would get smarter.......hmmm nope! Out of state and you find out your NEW IPhone has a factory problem, definitely not fun times....The store was completely empty which is not what I'm use to for apple, I did have an appointment anyway. The "Genius " I had handle my issue effectively and did live up to his name. The actual replacement took double the time estimated, how could they get that wrong....? I walked in with a phone which couldn't receive email. I was politely told that the solution was to delete the email app and reinstall it. They couldn't do it there because my password was safely stored at home. I went home and called the apple store (New Haven) back because I had a question and the person supporting me by phone was patient and clear about the steps I was walked through. Happy ending was that by deleting the app and reinstalling it, my phone is once again functional handling email. That person stayed with me on the phone until it was (more than) evident that the email was reloading. Wonderful customer service and technical help!! read more

I scheduled an appointment with the self proclaimed geniuses at the Genius Bar for 6:45 PM and am still waiting at 7:15 PM for a genius or employee to show its face. There are clusters of employees talking and giggling amongst themselves and this entire operation feels like I'm in a bad episode of a situation comedy that never left the pilot stage. The time is now 7:17 PM and I still haven't been given an update by any of the employees as to when I'll be seen by a genius at the Genius Bar. Complacency is the enemy. It's fascinating to me that these people remain employed by NOT working. I'll be leaving momentarily, when I'm done leaving this dismal review. I made an appointment at the Genius Bar for 2:30pm, to ask about my AirPods. I then waited 20 min for someone to come help me. The conversation with this Genius Bar employee lasted 5 minutes. Mind you, I expressed the problem I was having to another employee when I arrived to check in. You would think they would know the basic facts and let me know I would need to purchase an entirely new AirPod and there's nothing they can do. I'm not mad the Genius Bar couldn't help, I'm frustrated that I wasted 20 minutes. What's the point of a reserving a specific time if you're just going to wait around any way? read more

I went in to purchase phone and supplies to go with it, they go in back get it and bag it up. Problem is the supplies aren't for the phone that I purchased. Their insane exchange policy is 2 weeks from purchase. Maybe stop the party atmosphere so these "expert techs" can focus on sales. Don't go to Apple, go to best buy, amazon or your phone company. I read reviews and was a bit nervous about going into NH. I don't know if they changed out employees b/c of poor ratings on Yelp. I do know, that I had a very positive experience today - I worked with three separate employees to replace my watch. Each and every one of them were sincere, helpful, and honest. I was having technical trouble with my iPhone and I happened to be in downtown New Haven where there's an Apple store. It didn't seem very crowded, but I know it's best to have an appointment before getting services. There was a young man outside directing the the line and the wait. I told him what trouble I was having, he tried to help me, but said it's best if I make an appointment so they can help me inside. I only waited about 10 minutes, then received a text that they were ready for me. I didn't have to wait in line, and immediately got help and a fix to my issue. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the man who helped me, but he was great. While, I didn't make a purchase in the store this time, I'm very pleased with the support I got. read more

Yesterday I went to the store to pick up some EarPods. Tianna was amazing! She observed that I had been waiting then approached me to make sure I was being helped. Went to the store and was told to have a seat at a table after confirming my appointment. There was already a gentleman (hispanic) there, about 20 minutes later another gentleman (white) walks in with his kid and was also told to have a seat at the table. 5 minutes later the genius guy comes and goes directly to the man that just walked in (passes us) and ask him can I help you. I had to tell him he just walked in. Then the person who "helped me" said she (Nika) can not help me reset my password, because all the devices in the store are attached to another password, but if I bought a new device should not be a problem. I could not believe that I was in an APPLE STORE and I could not get help to reset my password. Unbelievable!!! read more

Excellent experience per usual but the New Haven Apple store takes the cake. Their store is huge in comparison to some apple stores I've seen. Not only space wise but their stock, open space, and most importantly their smiles. I stopped by to grab some AirPods on my way to work and sure enough I was anticipating a huge line. Brought my MacBook in for a repair this week -- I'm very happy with the service provided at the Apple Store in New Haven, no complaints. My issue with my laptop was fixed, they also replaced the housing for my MacBook at no charge, it was starting to develop a few cracks. Assad at the Genius Bar was very knowledgable & friendly. But you should make an appointment if you need service at Genius Bar instead of just walking in off the street. The first appointment that was available was in three hours, so we had to leave and come back later. But overall, I'm very satisfied with the service provided. read more

I went to the Apple store in New Haven to get my iPad fixed. It had a broken volume button and was still in the warranty period. I setup an appointment and met with Kevin at the Genius Bar. He provide excellent support exchanging my iPod with a replacement unit. He provided help with the restore process, and, I was in and out within an hour. I had a great experience with Kevin and the Apple team. That's why I continue to buy Apple technology, their support is above and beyond all other vendors. read more

I literally just left the Apple New Haven store frustrated. I walked in, was greeted by an employee and was signed in for an appointment at the Genius Bar for assistance with my Apple Watch. I was told it would be about a 25 minute wait, and I agreed to wait. Upon initial entry, I had high hopes that I would resolve my issue. When my time was near, I received a text message that it was almost my time and to approach the Genius Bar area. I stood at the Genius Bar for close to 20 minutes after already waiting 25 minutes and was never acknowledged by a single employee, and there were several back there. Nice Job Apple for providing such stellar customer service.... I ended up just walking out. Might be time to change products. read more

This shout-out is for Eric! At my scheduled appointment, he was the Genius tech who quickly diagnosed my unresponsive keyboard and trackpad issue with a high suspicion of a defected trackpad cable. He patiently answered my multitude of questions and concerns which guided me to making my decision. I dropped it off Friday night and got a call from Apple the next afternoon! As of right now, my trackpad and keyboard are working well. I just hope that was just the only issue he had to fix!!! The other staff members were nice as well. I have to preface this review by stating that I am an Apple fanboy. I love their products and have loved them from many years. However, I recently had an issue with MacBook Pro (2009) that essentially rendered it useless. The correct terminology is "bricked". Having an essential and rapid need for my MacBook to do work and connect to the world I made a Genius Bar appointment to have them diagnose and fix the problem. First, the store is in downtown New Haven right off the Yale campus. Even with all the foot traffic, the store wasn't as busy as the Westfarms or Holyoke mall locations and the people who were in the store where there for reasons other than being annoying mall rats. Next, The Genius Bar employees where very nice and welcoming. They took the time to explain possible problems to me and, didn't give me the condescending IT Crowd solutions (I.e "have you tried turning it on and off? "Is it plugged in"). Once they realized it was a serious problem they offered to take my Mac and diagnose it in store and call me if and when it could be fixed. That evening I got a call that my computer was fixed! So after 6 hours, I was relieved that I would be getting my beloved MacBook back. Returning to the store on Monday, again not too busy and everyone was very courteous. The Genius Bar employee explained the problem and the solution and let me power it up to make sure everything was ok. Comparing this experience to the only other computer I have used (a dell laptop at my old firm) was like night and day. With the dell every little problem had to be shipped back to the company for repairs and it would take weeks to get it back. Hands down I loved going to this store over the malls. Again the location down town offers more shopping and lunch options if you want to pop in for a class or other repair issue, and doesn't have as many people just loitering to use the free computers to update their Facebook pages read more

Worst Apple Store EVER. I say this after being at numerous stores, including in Santa Monica, CA; New York City; etc. We bought an iPhone 5S here on February 12, 2014 approximately 8 PM. Ronald helped us. He was okay, wasn't as knowledgeable about the contract as we hoped, but all was acceptable for a salesman. PROBLEM!!! He just ran away as soon as we made the purchase. AS SOON AS HE RECEIVED THE MONEY, HE JUST WALKED AWAY--with us needing to look for answers elsewhere!!! We later found him chatting with someone else, perhaps his friend just coming by to use the machine and chatting with him and nothing more than that. AGAIN, the sales rep RONALD walked away the moment we paid--without answering further questions--. He proceeded with nothing related to work, but rather to chat with someone on topics unrelated to work. We highly consider returning the item, and will do so within the 14 days period. Just because we do not want him to get credits/commission for the item. It was unwelcoming. Ronald ought to find a job that is better fit for his attitude. read more

I think we all know the format and kind of store the Apple Store is. This particular store located in downtown New Haven near Yale is a great one. I had to assist a friend replace his laptop after dumping a glass of water inside it by error, the staff evaluated his old laptop (without a prior reservation) and then assisted us with the new purchase. Really great customer service here during my recent visit, and everyone tried hard to deal with the challenges of our purchase. read more

Excellent service per usual. I always come in for my phone to be fixed by the Genius Bar, and every time I come.. its always fixed without a problem. This time around i came in for a new laptop. The gentleman who helped me was very patient and answered every question I had. He knew what I needed and cut to the chase to get me in and out under 15 minutes. The set up of getting the new laptop and already having a laptop from Apple was a bit frustrating but Apple care came to the rescue for that! I want to specially recognize Cameron who works at Apple on the Genius Bar. He is a great kid and knows what he is doing. When it comes to anything Apple, he is always there to help me out. He is a dear friend of mine, and definitely deserves the recognition. He works so hard and always knows how to fix any problem that may arise with my products. So major kudos to him! It was a rainy cold day - the line in the store went to 0 customers. I was early for my appointment. The Line Leader told me I had to go and wait outside until my appointed time. Again, 0 people in the in-store line, the store was NOT at capacity. I suggested that since it was cold and raining outside that I stay in line until someone else showed up, I would then go outside. He stated that if I didn't leave the store, he would have me escorted out. I will never need a product that badly to be treated with such outrageous, no common sense rule-mongering. read more

Went in here to get my phone fixed. The employee I had was super rude and dismissive. He kept telling me he couldn't fix my phone for one reason or another and wanted to charge me $200, eventhough my phone was less than 1 year old and my issue was covered under AppleCare. When I questioned his reasons he was like "oh I've literally dealt with this a hundred times." So I left, drove to the Farmington Valley location and they fixed my phone with no questions asked... FOR FREE. So (middle finger)to the guy in New Haven on a power trip, because clearly you don't know shit. read more

The Apple website lists this location on its website as offering "limited drop-in shopping" which they say means that there may be occupancy limits or wait times to enter the store. Fine. I walked a mile in the rain with my elderly mother to go to this store and when I got there was greeted at the door by an employee who told me that shopping and browsing was completely forbidden at this location and that I would not be allowed to enter the store at all. This store is wasting people's time by claiming that they offer shopping services when they don't. read more

Do not trust their estimated repair dates!! I dropped off my laptop on Saturday, and they told me it would be delivered on Tuesday. On Monday, I checked Apple's online repair tracker, which said that my computer hadn't even been shipped out yet! I called to see what was going on, with the intention that if it hadn't been sent in yet I'd go pick up my computer since I needed it Wednesday onward and the keyboard issue I was getting fixed wasn't urgent. I called and the Apple person in the New Haven store told me that based on his tracking information my computer was being shipped back to me and would arrive Tuesday morning. I asked if he was sure that it was arriving to me and not to Apple Tuesday, since the online tracker said it hadn't reached the repair center yet. He said yes he was sure. Tuesday I get a text from Apple repair that they just received my computer. It turns out they hadn't even sent it out until Monday night and I wasn't going to get it back until Friday. Even worse, two separate employees gave me the wrong date, even when I specifically asked to make sure they had the correct information. This really screwed me over because I had a time sensitive document I needed on my computer that I wasn't able to access, and as a result am going to miss an important work deadline. Long story short, don't drop off your repairs on the weekend and definitely don't trust the Genius Bar people to give you a correct date when the repair will be done by. The last time I called to figure out what was happening, they told me they don't ship out repairs they get on Saturdays until Monday night. So I guess either go in Friday or wait until Monday. Definitely don't do what I did, because it meant two days that my computer just sat in the Apple store when I could have been doing work on it. read more

This has got to be, the worst Apple store I've ever been to. I'll keep this review as short as I can, but every detail is important; I took my laptop in for an even exchange, with the original receipt, only three days into the 14-day return window. The woman "C" (I won't give her full name out), who I've seen there before and had issues with before (she is beyond slow and doesn't really have a clue how to use ANY kind of handheld device that these "specialists" are given to use during their shift), decided to just do a return and not an exchange.... Oh but wait, now I have to wait 3-5 business days to get my return to purchase the new laptop that I was exchanging for. "C" then lies to the floor manager (James I think his name was, I have no problem saying his name, he was wonderful and extremely helpful, not to mention he has a Pearl Jam tattoo on his arm, so he's OK in my book) right in front of me saying that I came in to do a return.....WITH THE NEW COMPUTER SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO MINE!....Obviously she must have thought I was an idiot, but I then stop her immediately and tell James (which I still think is his name) that I was here for an even exchange and that she just flat out lied to you. By this point we have 5, count em FIVE, Apple "specialists" all standing around my old laptop trying to figure out how to do an exchange. Five of them. All getting paid at the same time to do an even exchange with the original receipt right in front of them. After an HOUR AND A HALF LATER, that's right, hour and a half later and the parking meter is still climbing outside, they make me fill out a "Manual Purchase Form" and have me sign it saying that in 3-5 business days they can hit my account again once the refund goes through (who knows if that refund will even happen). This store needs to get their act together. I've had an easier time doing an even exchange at T.J. Maxx. I won't be back! read more
