Patio seating but not on this day when the temperature was 38 degrees
    Ray M.

Five stars for the service we received, five stars for the view of the surroundings, including the mountains, and five stars for the cabin-like vibe of the restaurant. Here is where my review is only one star: the food. The food left much to be desired. The chicken pot pie was mushy, unlike just about every other restaurant that serves chicken pot pie with chunks of chicken. The only decent thing was the crust. This pie filling resembled oatmeal. No exaggeration. My vegetable soup bowl was so small that I felt as though I had mistakenly ordered from the kids' menu. The bread used to complete the bowl was stale and did NOT taste like sourdough. I was genuinely disappointed. The corner tables we were seated at had a strong draft the entire time we were there (it was VERY cold!), which made it hard to enjoy our conversation, much less the food The employees were all very welcoming and friendly, and we truly appreciated their hard work. I genuinely have no desire to eat at this restaurant again. It's a shame the food was NOT good.

Located in the center of Oak Tree Mountain with super fun surrounding areas to bring your doggos and kids. Plenty of little fun activities like: apple picking at Los Rios Rancho, Apple Cider mini donuts and of course Apple Annie's famous High Rise Apple pie. Here, you can get it by the slice a lá mode or bring home the full pie to enjoy with some yummy apple ciders! We always have a wonderful time coming during Apple butter festival and apple picking season. Definitely worth a visit! Service: 5/5 Pies: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Parking: 5/5 (plenty and paid)

Food: 4.1/5 Service: 3.0/5 Value: 3.3/5 A wonderfully cute pie shop that just smells delicious when you walk in. Since there were only two of us, we unfortunately could not try everything, but we did try a slice of the mile high pie. Wow! This thing was huge and just piled high with sweet, cinnamon apples. Honestly, it was just a lot for me, but the first 5-6 bites were incredible and would strongly recommend everyone to try at least once. The low service score came from just the inefficiency of the service. There were only 3 parties in front of me and it still took almost 20 minutes to get the slice. They also mixed up our slice with someone else's and took another 5 minutes to try and sort it out. Everything was really slow, so be weary if you're in a rush and see a line!

    The raw pie!

One raw pie with a side of overcharge coming right up! Drove 2 hrs to get an attitude, over charged & a sad ass raw apple pie! I was super excited to have made my way to grab a famous crumble Apple Pie for Easter brunch! Instead of everyone oohh'ing over what looked like an amazing pie turned in to pure embarrassment! A guest brought over a slice & said "are you trying to kill us?" I was mortified when she put the fork to my mouth! It was soggy & raw! As a first time customer I wish the rude lady at the counter would have shared that these pie are indeed raw & if not, it was a cruel joke. If this how they are intended to be sold say something for crying out loud! There was no sign, sticker on the box or anything! Now realizing it was overpriced to begin with & the pastries were not all that great. I was over charged for invisible pastries so check your receipt before taking off!

COVID signage all but removed. Seems so surreal.

In short: my +1 asked me, "Why do we always have lousy service here?" Oak Tree Mountain has continued to change, but I wouldn't say for the better. They decided to wall off most of it and charge for admission. What a shame. But this review is for the restaurant, which seems to have not changed enough. My +1 and I make the trip to Oak Glen about once a year, and we always stop at Apple Annie's restaurant. It's been a tradition. Last year we were pleasantly surprised by improvements to both the quality of food and the service, so I left a 5-star update. This time I had to drop it significantly, mostly on the service - though changes to the menu and the lack of apple pie didn't help. We stood in line for about 20 minutes before being seated. They asked if we were ok being seated indoors despite the weather being 70 degrees and more than half the patio being empty. We asked to sit outside and got a table completely in the sun. Oh well. We were greeted quickly enough and given refreshments while waiting for our orders. I asked for the fish and chips and my +1 ordered the chili and cornbread. We asked for an extra plate to share with our little one. Well, the food came out quickly, but not the extra plate...or even utensils. We had to flag down another server because ours was nowhere to be found. He came back long after we were finished, asking if we wanted drink refills (a little late) or dessert. When we asked about apple pie, he stuttered something about being out of a lot of desserts. We asked him to find out what they still had, and eventually we got a slice of apple cherry pie with ice cream, and the tab right next to it, because he said he had to go. The fish and chips was actually really good, with just the right amount of batter on the fish and perfectly crispy. It also came with a small cup of coleslaw that had chopped apple in it, which was really delicious. The chili was decent, and the cornbread tasted homemade, but we missed the bread bowl that was missing from the menu. The pie stood out and was incredible, though it was a shame the regular apple was sold out. My biggest complaint on the food was that the portions were small, and the prices keep rising. I'm grateful to see other places opening nearby in Oak Glen. Maybe next time we'll have to break from tradition.

Apple Annie's in Oak Glen feels like a little escape every time we visit. I've been coming here for awhile, and it never loses its charm. The cozy, woodsy, cabin-like atmosphere makes you feel tucked away in nature, like you've stepped into a simpler, slower moment in time. The food is always comforting and satisfying. I haven't tried many dishes because I keep coming back to the ones I love and every bite feels homemade and familiar in the best way. It's the kind of place where memories are made without trying. My family and I return again and again, and it's become a tradition we truly cherish. We just can't get enough of Apple Annie's it's warm, welcoming, and always worth the trip. Do not forget to stop by the bakery

One of the only places you can eat at by the orchards. They have a bakery and a restaurant. The restaurant is super busy and on a Saturday during Apple season there was a huge line. On Saturdays exactly at 11 they stop serving breakfast and only offer lunch. Not a ton of options to choose from. The service was mid -- not friendly at all. The food was also okay -- wouldn't choose to go again. The pies are pretty pricey and I've also had better. For the experience, it's a cool day trip to take from LA though after Apple picking. The pulled pork was the best thing we got. Parking $10 Lots of things to do in the plaza it's at.

We stopped at Apple Annie's for a late lunch after a day of Apple picking. We were only second in line and waited for what seemed like a long time. After not being acknowledged we walked in and stood inside so someone could see us waiting for a table. They seemed busy for a Monday at 3pm, but we were finally able to get sat. I can only imagine how it is on the weekends. Service was ok, could have been better. Food prices were pretty high but I guess since it's located in a touristy area. Food was actually good and large in quantity. I ordered the fish and chips which was tasty and came with a yummy dill and apple coleslaw. I also tried the apple wine and I liked it. My husband ordered the country fried steak which was huge, he took half of it home. Overall not too bad of a place, just wish service was a little better.

Chicken pot pie and turkey with mashed potatoes

Apple Annie's was one of the only places open on a rainy weekday so we stopped here for a quick lunch. It was so busy as again, one of the only places open. Their menu is huge, so are their portions. We got the chicken pot pie and turkey with mashed potatoes. My bf also got a hot chocolate. Everything was good, diner quality. Pot pie was significantly better but a bit on the sweeter side. Service is great, the workers were hustling and still doing their best to be attentive and patient with everyone dining in.

Apple Annie's has a reputation of being overly expensive and taking full advantage of the touristy location in the heart of Oak Glen. I too dislike the touristy sell-out of Oak Tree mountain and their push to close off a majority of the park behind a paywall, but this review is for the restaurant. This was our first visit to Apple Annie's, entering just before close at 5:30 on a Sunday. The restaurant was cozy but not exceptional, nominally clean but carrying the well-trodden appearance of a location frequented by a constant influx and efflux of hungry inpatient customers. The bathrooms were particularly poor, in need of cleaning, and additional soap refills. A twice-daily clean and restock for a busy weekend is crucially in need here. The food was surprisingly good despite the reputation. I got the beef dip which was superbly spiced and savory ($21) with excellent French fries which were crusp and well seasoned. The hot apple pie a la mode ($13.50) was generous and delectable, and the perfect finish for the meal. Our waitress was quite friendly and attentive, taking good care of us with a fast turnaround. Prices were a little high, but this is perhaps expected for such a touristy area. Apple Annie's is a classic location in Oak Glen. While expensive and with a long wait, it's worth a visit once a year for families looking for delicious pie in a great location. Check it out! Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Value: 3.5/5

Such a great spot! Great food, great customer service, great pastries and a cute restaurant cat! Usually this spot is pretty packed and busy but we got lucky today! Was very pleased with the customer service and the breakfast.

    Their famous apple pie
    Peter H.

We came here for their world famous apple pie. It's huge! It also comes with their apple pie sauce in a small cute jar so you can pour it over your apple pie. It was definitely fun eating this pie. It took us several days and this is after we split it in half with our friends. The pie itself is your typical pie. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary but it was a fun treat to eat! I'd recommend it if you're in the area and are looking for something silly to do lol Otherwise this bakery also has a bunch of other pastries. They have gigantic cookies and huge CUBES of brownies if you're into that as well. Maybe I'll give those a shot next time when I'm in the area. They looked really good, it's just that we were already buying a gigantic apple pie! The service was quick and professional. There is also plenty of seating for you to enjoy your food!

They have a large selection of food it was hard to choose! The serving size was plenty. I got their chili and cornbread. Their cornbread wasn't dry which was just right. Everybody else seemed to enjoy their food as well. We got the apple pie and ice cream to share between 5 people and it was plenty! The warm pie and cold ice cream just hits the spot. Definitely recommend eating here.

Ask the Community - Apple Annie's

I grew up coming here from a child to an adult and I haven't been in maybe 10 years and now I have kids and I'm looking forward to bringing them, I used to love the Apple cookies and pie, do you guys still have the Apple cookies?

I didn't see it last week when I was there. It's off season righ now, however, so maybe they will have it again when the season starts.

Are you allowing dogs in the patio area?

    Do they still offer seconds?

Not anymore. This place is now a gentrified Corporate price gouge establishment.

Is Apple Annie's open New Year's Eve and New Year's Day? If so, what are the hours?

    Yes

    Do they take reservations?

I called today and got a "No."

    Is this place wheelchair accessible?

It is a tight squeeze, but the wheelchair fits. There are a couple ramps to get you around the different levels. I was in a wheelchair and made it around ok, with someone pushing me. Have fun!

Are dogs allowed in the patio area?

Yesss, we saw a few on the patio while we were there.

We went in "just to look" (famous last words) and walked out with 3 cupcakes: vanilla bean, red velvet, and salted caramel toffee... plus a mocha tres leches parfait because self-control is seasonal and clearly out of stock!! Every single bite was the kind of good that makes you close your eyes mid-chew and ignore whoever's talking to you. But let's discuss the real star: the frosting!!! I was fully prepared for standard whipped cream or buttercream vibes, and instead got this cloud-like, silky situation that tasted rich but somehow light enough to justify eating an entire cupcake without emotional consequences. Tiffany herself let me in on the secret.... it's Italian meringue buttercream. So basically, classy buttercream that went to finishing school. Tiffany is also an absolute gem... warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what she's baking up. You can taste the love (and the butter, but mostly the love)!!! If you're in the desert and your sweet tooth starts whispering reckless ideas, listen to it. And definitely support this family-owned local spot.
