I absolutely love, love, love Riley's Farm, it's such a unique and immersive experience. From the moment you arrive, you really feel like you've stepped back in time. The entire place is set up like colonial America, and the attention to detail is incredible. All of the staff stay fully in character the entire time, and their costumes are beautifully made and very detailed. It really adds to the whole experience. The farm itself isn't your typical farm,it's more of a historical village with different stations set up to demonstrate things like candle making, crocheting from that time period, how the judicial system worked, and even the types of games people used to play. One of the highlights was the Revolutionary War reenactment at the end, where the kids actually got to participate as soldiers. It was such a cool experience and also really educational at the same time. I went as part of a school group, but you could definitely visit on your own and still have a great time. The food was good, but the baked goods were the real standout -- fresh breads, pies, cookies, homemade ice cream, shakes... everything tasted amazing. I also liked that you can order ahead online and just pick up when you get there. The staff were incredibly patient and kind with the kids, even when they got a little impatient, which I really appreciated. Wonderful place full of beauty and family entertainment. We love visting Hawk's Head Tavern and Bakery for lunch and then wander the grounds. Depending on when you visit, you might get lucky and see one their their reenactments and period dressed characters walking about. We appreciate that parking is free and there is no admission to walk the farm. Definitely check out Riley's Farm website where you can get all the details and see their calendar for events, though. Schools, parents, and individuals can book field trips and various fun educational activities of all sorts. Our personal favorite has been the "Old Joe Homestead Tour" (which is $25/person and lasts about 2 hours). Always a great time at Riley's Farm. read more

We attended a fun evening at Rileys farm where we saw Finnegan's Wake dinner show. The music was spectacular. It was lively and interactive and a great selection of a performed repertoire. The performers were also very good and talented. The food service was great. Our cups were never empty. The food was very tasty- the bread, soup, bumble n squeak, parsnips, meat and desert were very tasty and homemade. My criticism is that the food was sparse, small portioned and served cold. The parsnips arrived well before the meat. The small slice of tasty but fatty meat was eaten alone. Was that the way it was intended? The bread was only at the start of the meal and never refilled though we had lots of excess butter at the table. The desert did not contain apples but chocolate. It was tasty for sure but I expected something else. Would we come back and bring friends? Absolutely! read more

Riley's Farm is one of venues along Oak Glen Road, and it offers an opportunity to step back into colonial times. You will find their staff in period costume. During the week you can even watch school groups experience living history adventures including those of both our Revolutionary and Civil Wars. There's also a bakery in site that offers both lunch/dinner and dessert options. It's adjoined to a colonial tavern that appears to no longer be full service (at least for lunch) but still allows entry for dining. I recommend their chicken pot pies, but there are many other food choices on their menu. The grounds afford a nice little stroll simulating a step back into simpler times, and the costumed staff helps to promote that very perception. You'll will even find a pillory for the naughty. It's a fun little detour to your Oak Glen apple picking! read more

I went as a chaperone for a field trip and was shocked at how most of the staff was to the kids. I would never return.

Everything seems to be marked up. Everything had a dirty and disheveled look to it. The animals looked like they are really kept up with.

Beautiful farm with a fun and challenging corn maze, apple picking (seasonally), pumpkins (seasonally), tractor rides, apple cider pressing, lovely gift shop, all surrounded by beautiful mountain views. Great for a date, girls outing or family fun. Lovely grounds and a rustic but beautifully maintained landscape. Will definitely return! read more

Went for an elementary school field trip. The staff were very rude and treated the kids poorly. First and last time I will visit Riley's .

First stop as you're approaching Glen Oaks. Definitely a colonialism patriotism experience visiting here. That's what makes them different. You have to explore beyond the front yard and go behind the orchard as there is more to explore. We decided to have the apple dumpling here. Was a bit disappointed because the caramel sauce was like a sticky glue instead of it being soft and runny. Watch out for dentures those who wear them! The chicken pot pie was also watery runny instead of creamy packed consistency. The food can be better. The farm pretty much have things for different ages to explore. Kind of makes you feel like you're visiting during the puritans era as far as ambiance goes. They have the animals petting area, blacksmith, orchards, flower blooms. The house was nostalgic but hope they can fix it up, as some area were noticeably falling apart. Friendly staff overall during our first time visit. read more

We make the trek from LA to Riley's Farm at least once a year. I've been here in the summer and in the winter (Valentines day dinner!) and it is always memorable and beautiful! I highly recommend doing one of their dinner events up there, the food is delicious and you feel like you've been transported back in time, with beautiful scenery to top it off. This property is huge! We came in fall for apple picking and there were two orchards available with TONS of apples. They also had apple pickers (the pole with the little basket on the end - no clue its proper name) available which was great for our young kids. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and there was a war reenactment going on while we were there which was so cool to see! We didn't have a chance to try their barbecue but we'll definitely be back to give that a shot. They also have a banquet hall they host different events in and a store with all kinds of candy and home made goodies. I have been going to Riley's farm for years. My kids grew up going to Riley's farm with the schools. We had the opportunity to see the Civil War reenactment in September. It was so awesome and so life like. We never leave without buying apple cider, their donuts and anything else apple ha ha. We brought my 83 year old mother here for lunch. The chicken pot pie was very yummy and my mom enjoyed the apple pie milkshake. The pastries were delicious. We then decided to go apple and pear picking. When I saw the hill I knew my mom couldn't walk up to the picking area. I asked one of the employees about options and they introduced us to Mike. Riley's farm is a nice place to stop at if you're in the area and looking for a family fun experience! I happened to be there since for my yearly visit to Snowlike Orchards and Los Rios which are both down the road from Riley's. My family and I had tried to visit last year but unfortunately the farm was closed due to it being Sunday. So just be forewarned they are not open on that day! The last time I had visited Riley's Farm was when I was a kid so my memory of the place was very vague. The property is very large so be prepared for some walking if you arrive on a busy day and have to park in the back lots like we did. Also make sure you wear comfortable shoes since you will be walking up and down slopes and dirt hills! Needless to say we all got a good workout walking the day we visited. There's plenty of areas to explore. They have fields of apples, raspberries, pumpkins and other various fruits to see! Definitely a nice place to take cute pictures at. They even have a beautiful stream that runs through the property. There were two areas of the farm that we saw during our visit. The first was in the front by the road. They have a big historic house that is now transformed into a dining area. You can order food outside and find seating indoors. We took a quick peak at the menu, a few of their offerings included apple pies, bbq sandwiches and chicken pot pies if I remember correctly. There's also a small barn shop with some souvenirs to take home as well as their famous apple cider! The second area we explored was more uphill and secluded. They have a blacksmith, a large indoor souvenir shop and another dining area that served BBQ sandwiches as well as sides. They have plenty of indoor seating and also offer their famous apple cider (both warm and cold options). There's a nice large grass area to hang out at and relax with family before you truck back down the hill to your vehicle. Overall it was a nice experience for us, minus the walking! The property is just very large and it was a bit warm when we were there so those two didn't mix very well. Keep in mind if you have little ones with you they might not like walking up and down the hills or may get tired quickly. But Riley's Farm is definitely a cool place to experience and get some nice pictures! read more

This place doesn't even feel like California... as a first timer I didn't know what to expect when seeing so many videos of long lines to get off the freeway and crowded farms, but in the past month I've come back twice to enjoy all I can here. I highly reccomend apple picking at this farm, it's giant and there's lots of space to grab some of the most delicious apples you've ever eaten. I was lucky enough to run into Dennis, the founder of the farm and if you ever get to meet him you'll understand what I mean when I say his company was more than worth it. Learning about the history of this farm as well as why they put such a colonial touch made it all the more exciting. Fall time is the best to go as it gets colder... meaning sweater weather!! This was my family's first time apple mulberry blackberry pickings it was a time. We were a little late for the strawberries but I went barefoot and found a couple: very crest experience. The pumpkins were getting ready so may go back this year to get pumpkins. Idk why the low reviews this place is great. This dinner is the closing of our America history tour. We went from where the Pilgrims landed and ended at DC. What a perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving colonial way. Everything at the dinner was perfect. Entertainment and food were amazing! My usuband won a whole pie from the tomahawk throw contest! If you come for the dinner, I would suggest come during the day to enjoy other activities; candle dipping, archery, and apple picking. We did that way and while waiting for the dinner from 5 to 6:30 we visited other farms around there and rested at the local Starbucks. I also suggest for you to come a little before 6:30. The dinner starts at 7pm but they'll sit you about 6:30 that way you can enjoy some music. Everyone was super nice and helpful. The view is to die for. I didn't even know you can see the leaf turning color here. I highly recommend Rileys farm. They really go above and beyond! read more

This is the 4th time I have gone and there is always something new to discover! Let's start with parking: Easy parking and friendly staff! Only about 10 other people were there at 1pm on a Saturday. Usually there are more people? Weather was perfect yesterday at 65 degrees, sunny, and no wind chill. 1st time I went was for Braised Beef Pot Pie and live colonial music performers inside the restaurant. 2nd Time we found they have livestock and we ate there again. 3rd time we went to the love Sleepy Hollow show with delicious food and great performers! 4th time was yesterday and we found they have in the back of the restaurant over a random bridge they have archery and candle making! I wish it was more apparent what is available, where it is, and how much. I guess you need to maybe stop by the merchant store and ask questions before anything else. read more

Had a great time picking apples and pears at Riley's Farm with a group from meetup. 11 of us met there for a morning picking session and lunch at the barbecue place on-site. Long line to order food, but it moved smoothly. I ordered pulled pork sandwich, my date had the dino rib. It was a huge beef rib, probably 12 inches long, 3 inches wide, and an inch and a half thick. She ate about half of her rib, I had some, and she gave the rest to another member to take home for her dogs. They are well fed dogs. Family style seating at long picnic style tables with chairs on each side. Great for our large group. Everyone fit at one table and all were close enough to chat with each other. Prices were reasonable for lunch. Apple picking was $3.50 per pound and pears were $3.00 per pound. It was a fun morning in the mountains. read more
