What a great experience! We went at the end of the season for apple picking, so it was kinda hard to find an apple tree that was super full, but alas we found 3 close to the edge of the farm by the road. After picking the apples, we washed and pressed the apples for cider to take home. It was so fresh and sweet! It was a cute little date, and I'm sure we'll be back next year.

It's apple picking season again and this time I stopped by this relatively small orchard in the apple picking capital of California Oak Glen. Unfortunately the overall experience was less than ideal and not what I originally had expected. [Season]: U-Pick apples open on Labor Day to Thanksgiving (weekend only). [Parking]: Limited and free onsite parking is available (uneven dirt road), but I got lucky and took the last available spot. If the lot is full, then street parking is also an option (just more hassle). [Price]: Cash or card - $3 per pound for apple and pears & $5 for a basket of blackberries. $20 to press 1/2 gallon of apple cider and $30 for a gallon. [Locations]: Bartlett pears were located just across from the tent, but I didn't notice them until I asked about pears at the checkout. Apples were located in various parts of the ranch and they were mostly Gravensteins/Glen Seedlings/Crab Apples. Blackberries were also scattered across the ranch and most of them were not ripe. [Instruction]: I walked toward to the tent and the cashier guy gave me a plastic bag. He showed me where pickin' poles are located and also said come back here to weigh & pay. For u-pick apples, he said only pick green and not red apples (I also overheard from another conversation that leave green apples in a dark place for 3-4 days until they turn yellow before eating them). Lastly he told our party to walk south for apple picking and that was when everything began to go south ... [Experience]: Not only was the walk to apple trees resemble to a mini downhill trail, I was completely caught off-guard when a small creek showed up and I saw apple trees on the other side of the creek. Everyone had to hold onto a rope & helped each other out as there was no guardrail and rocks were slippery. After everyone was done with apple picking, all visitors had to re-visit the creek and ultimately made it across the creek in one piece (unfortunately a thorn punctured the skin of my index finger). The walk back to the check-in/check-out tent became an uphill walk and the pickin' pole I was holding also became a burden. Stick with Rileys At Los Rios Rancho or Willowbrook Apple Farm for a more convenient apple picking experience. Apples at Stone Pantry Orchard are on a sour side and this is not the best orchard to visit for anyone who has mobility issues. P.S. - One portable toilet was available for customers.

Really amazing experience here! it was exactly what I imagined my first Oak Glen apple-picking experience would be. Just before coming to this orchard, we stopped at the really large one next-door. There, we spent more time looking for a place to park than we did at the actual orchard: it was super busy, and had a county fair vibe to it (lots to do, but overwhelming). that one seem like a great place for kids (and parents as it truly is a great one-stop shop) but as it was just me and my boyfriend, we decided to come try this orchard instead. im so glad we did because this orchard was exactly as we imagined!! there's so much land to explore (well kept, but still very natural) very quaint. both workers were extremely nice and helpful. we opted to make our own cider too which was so fun. DEFINITELY come here if you're looking for a quaint, relaxing experience.

Went in mid October for some apple picking before heading over to Lavender Nights in Cherry Valley. Not super flashy as some of the the other farms down the road which gives it its nice old fashioned charm. Good pricing per pound for what we picked and the apples were so good we went back to pick some more! Highly recommend the apples close to yellow in color, as they were crisp and sweet. You can pick some of the lower hanging apples yourself or opt for long wooden pickers by the U-Press station, though you may have to wait until other parties are finished using theirs (a family was kind enough to give us their stick as they were leaving). Lots of trees to pick from and very fun! Would come back again next season :)

Went up to Oak Glen for the weekend to pick some berries... we decided to pull over to Stone Pantry because we seen a blackberry sign. Chuck was super kind and helpful. We found so many berries and pears as well. Definitely will be coming back for pumpkin season

Nice place to spend a weekend day. It's large, quiet, and less expensive. There are apples, pears and blackberries. The owner is very kind and he plays banjo phone beautifully.

Went today to pick apples, we were the only ones there. The owner is rude, the orchard is dirty and it was pricey. Never going back

Very small and poor orchard. Had no apples when we got there today. The owner was rude. Go to Riley or Los Rios instead.

Can you still pick apples end of October?

Is this farm owned by the Riley farm? I see stone soup is- wondering which apple farms they own and which are actually mom and pop businesses in the area? Thanks!

Low-key and charming, with some unique surprises. Chief among them, the craft apple cider cocktails. I got a mule and my daughter and wife got a tasty, smoky Bourbon revelation in a glass. (Well, actually a plastic cup, but I'd drink either out of a rusty hubcap they're that good.) "Would you like some ratatouille crostini to go with that?" "But of course!" (Best call I made all weekend!) Sit by the fire or find a spot of sun at one of the scattered tables. Walk around and explore. Go to the creek at the back of the property and listen to the water go burbling along over the rocks and through the brambles. We were there early (just short of 11 a.m.) so it wasn't too crowded. They're known for their delicious donuts, but there's so much more to enjoy! One of the cool things is that you can sample different varieties of apples before deciding which ones to take home. They also have a great selection of wines. Peach Perfect and Black Bear were two of my favorites. I was hoping to grab Red Tractor, but unfortunately, it wasn't in stock this time. For you pickers, you can pick your own raspberries and apples for a small fee. It's a great place to slow down, relax, enjoy the scenery, and spend some quality time with family.

We drove a long way and arrived around 1 PM specifically to pick apples, only to learn that apple picking now requires a reservation. The next available time wasn't until 3:30-4 PM. Since Los Rios closes at 5 and most other Oak Glen attractions close around 5-6, that really affects your ability to plan a full day in the area. Apples are currently $5/lb, and picking bags are 50¢ each and bags must be purchased beforehand. Bring your own or a cute basket. I completely understand that it has become more popular and reservations may be necessary. My frustration is simply that changes like this should be clearly communicated on the website and social media so families making a long drive can plan accordingly. I still love Los Rios and will absolutely return. I just know now that we need to reserve apple picking ahead of time before making the drive.

I felt like I was wandering around guessing where I was supposed to go. If they're trying to cut back on the hourly costs there needs to be more signage or a map or something? I came here to go apple picking and just happened to park near one of the areas of trees available for picking. There was a single guy handing out bags, and he was very pleasant and we got a few but when he directed us to the next area he said to follow the white ribbons. There was literally one ribbon tied to a tree and from there we just wandered along a path hoping to see something or someone else. I can't tell you how many other people were stranded and asked us where we got our apple bag. We found a second area where there was a lady in a chair in the shade. We asked her if there was a map or something, and she said that there were maps, but that she didn't have any. There were only 4-5 trees at her station and quite a few bees and fire ants in that area. It made me a bit uncomfortable with littles. The lady directed us down a hill to the cashier station. They had a small gift shop and cafe. I paid $26 for a fresh pie at the cafe but they don't weigh the apples there so I went to the general store and paid another $25 for a bag of apples, which is fine (I guess). I haven't tried the apples yet, but the pie was nothing special. It didn't have a ton of flavor and just tasted like an unseasoned baked apple. I'm not sure what I was looking for, but with such a beautiful setting I just expected more than what I found. At least the parking was free? At least, no one was around to tell me otherwise.
