White flatbread and wine

NIKKI was an angel at the bar! I walked in at 11:15 on a Thursday night, sat at the bar, ordered and had my flatbread in minutes! I came back! And Nick was just as awesome as a bartender! This time I got the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls! Nick told me they were made in house and tastey! He was right!

Best outdoor seating in Exton hands down. Good food, lots on the menu, great servers, and reasonably priced. All that and Dog-friendly taboot!

Food was yummy! The portions were pretty big. Service and ambiance were not bad from what I recall.

Believe the one star reviews. There are much better (and more affordable) places to eat in the up and coming Exton Main Street area. I was in the area and decided to dine in here instead of stopping by a fast food place. Well at least I assumed this dine in restaurant was higher quality than fast food but was mistaken. To begin, I wanted to order a burger so I asked the server what kind of beef they used. You would have thought I asked her a complex math question. She said "we just have regular ground beef" and I said okay, is it angus? Sirloin? She said she'd ask the chef. I saw her mentioning my question to other servers on her way to the kitchen and they exchanged looks and laughs toward my table. First red flag, but we decided to continue the order. I ordered a lemonade, cheeseburger, and waffle fries. Others at my table ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls and cheesesteak tacos. My food arrived on a dirty plate, as seen in the pictures. The lemonade was definitely cheap minute made lemonade. The waffle fries that I was charged $3 extra for arrived cold and soggy. The place was pretty full so the fact that the fries arrived cold (and other reviews also mention cold fries) is sad and inexcusable. The pickle was absolutely disgusting looking and inedible as you can see from the pictures. The burger was one of those previously frozen burgers you can buy at restaurant depot, which makes sense why the type of beef isn't listed on the menu and severs can't answer questions about it. The cheesesteak egg rolls were clearly old and not freshly fried. The person who ate them also said there was no cheese in them. This place seems allergic to serving fresh made food. As you can see, the egg rolls look like they were fried an hour ago and sitting under a heating light. You can even see a crust over the sauce which lets you know that these were not made fresh to order and were instead sitting around. It's not like we ordered 10 items, we just ordered two entrees and one appetizer... Paying full price for old food? Not cool. The person who ordered the cheesesteak tacos said they were good but the tortilla was soggy. As far as the service goes, the two people seating guests were on their phone the entire time. They did not say "hello" when we arrived or "goodbye" when we left... Additionally, there were about 2 servers who were servicing all the tables while the others sat in a booth at the back talking to each other. There were also drunk people at the bar yelling at the sports playing on TV so it's not a family friendly place. It's also quite small, so prepare to hear the conversations of every guest surrounding you. Overall I paid $55 (yes $55) for the order (a cheeseburger, tacos, and egg rolls) and was unimpressed. I certainly won't be wasting money here again.

Great restaurant in Exton! They have outdoor seating and are very dog friendly. Brought out a dog bowl with our drinks! Apparently, if the owner is here, he gives out dog treats :) didn't get to experience that tonight but that's lovely if it's true! The food was great, lots of options on the menu (lowkey overwhelming with so many choices!) you cannot go wrong with any of the sandwiches here. The outdoor seating was very nice and spacious and our dogs loved it.

They even gave us what essentially on appetite's menu for my dog ANYWAY AND when it started to rain harder ALLOWED US INDOORS

I'd give it negative stars if possible. I went here SPECIFICALLY for their DOG MENU. It's been off and on raining VERY LIGHTLY, and I would have been more than fine getting wet to be able to dine with my HIGH CLASS WEENIE DOG (who also is an "emotional support dog" but I rushed out of my house and didn't think I actually NEEDED the vest as I was going to a dog friendly place). I was told "*shrug* nothing we can do". SO, I walked a few hundred feet away to WORLD OF BEER who HAPPILY accommodated me. Not giving them a second chance, as they couldn't even give my well behaved (better than MOST children) dog a first chance.

Visited twice in a week n loved everything that I had here. Drinks are strong and tasty. Food's really yum. I like their Lemon pepper wings which I seldom find in other restaurants' menu. Shrimp tacos had some real tasty spicy shrimp, and even coconut shrimp had a subtle coconut enjoyable flavor. Looks like I've discovered a new favorite in the area!!

We went on a random Tuesday afternoon. It was nice outside, so we opted for outdoor seating. Our waitress was extremely nice! I ordered a cheesesteak and my friend ordered a burger. We also ordered pretzel bites. All 3 dishes were excellent. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the check to pay. The food is good and affordable. A+

Calamari
Taylor G.

The hostess working was not that friendly and seemed miserable. Our waitress was very friendly! Food came out in a timely manner. The calamari was okay probably won't get again, little chewy. Cheesesteak eggs rolls were decent, the dipping sauce was lacking flavor. Margarahita flatbread was full of flavor but expects a little thicker flatbread. Homemade chips that came with cheesesteak were good. Look forward to trying other items in the menu as the menu was HUGE! Rasperberry ice tea was not good at all. Restaurant was very busy but was sat down right away. Decently clean too!

Overall a decent experience. Nice setting and vibe, food was pretty good, prices were a lil high but that's okay. Pretty busy spot on main st and they have a patio too. Would definitely recommend it and come back again. Thanks

The hair I had to take a photo of before the assistant manager would issue a refund- of which she only refunded a partial order.

When I first drove up, I didn't not immediately recognize it as the former Ship Inn because the traffic pattern at the intersection was different and the building looked more updated. The interior was spacious. My friend was at the bar where we sat the entire time. Since my friend was a regular, he knew the bar tender, Morgan. He vouched for her Old Fashioned which just happened to be what I had planned to order. The Old Fashioned was good. She made it with Evan Williams Bourbon. It had a good blend so that it was not too sweet, too bitter or overpowered by the bourbon. My friend ordered Garlic Parmesan wings which he seemed to enjoy. We sat talking for a couple of hours and never felt rushed. The vibe at the bar was friendly as folks came in and out for drinks. I will go back and check out the restaurant next time.

I had a pizza, which was thin-crust, had flavorful sauce, and a solid cheese-sauce ratio. I would've finished the whole thing if it wasn't for the beer flights! I had two flights and each of the beers I tried I would order again. They're named nautically which made ordering them honestly fun. Wait staff was friendly and timely, so much so that I'm already planning a return! I will say that many tables were empty so it was a bit easier to serve us, but I hope in the future VK gets more business. Good people, good food, great beer.

Overall, The Jockey is solidly average when it comes to food, service, and ambiance. Nothing outstanding, but nothing terrible either. Where The Jockey truly shines, though, is its Happy Hour value, which is easily the best in the area. Drinks are a great deal compared to nearby spots: half off all beers on tap, plus discounted house wine and cocktails. The Happy Hour appetizer selection is larger than most, and the quality is surprisingly good. Buck-a-shuck oysters! Only one variety, but for a dollar, you can't complain. Bonus points for offering Happy Hour on weekends, which is rare. If you're in the area during Happy Hour, it's absolutely worth stopping in.

My reviews are different. I do not announce myself or tell anyone. I am here to do a review!!…read more It was my birthday week, and unfortunately, my Tesla had been vandalized. True to my nature as a "prior proper planner," I already had an appointment scheduled in West Chester, so I headed down to get the repairs underway. While I waited, I decided to find some local eats. A quick Google search led me to The Jockey just outside of Philadelphia. The reviews mentioned it was a family-owned joint, and the decor looked incredibly inviting. The aesthetic actually reminded me of The Polo Bar in NYC; it has that same sophisticated, equestrian charm. Personally, I love horses--I know all the horses in the world, and they know me--and I know the horses. so I was eager to check it out. My mother picked me up from the dealership, and we "galloped" our way down to the restaurant. The Food I was surprised to find the place packed at 12:30 PM on a Tuesday, but I assumed we had just hit the peak lunch rush. We started with the calamari, my mother ordered a sandwich, and I opted for the salmon with drunken noodles. Honestly, I think the chef in the back was more "drunk" than the noodles. * The Salmon: It arrived super crisp and borderline burnt. * The Calamari: Overcooked, greasy, and wet--it felt like it hadn't seen a strainer or a paper towel since leaving the fryer. * The Sauce: The marinara was watery, almost as if the back-of-house was running low and decided to stretch it with water. The Verdict The only saving grace was the aesthetic. The decor is lovely, and they have a very inviting event space in the basement. However, you can't eat the wallpaper. * Food: 2/5 (A hard pass on the kitchen's execution.) * Service: 3/5 (The staff never checked on us while we were eating.) * Location/Convenience: 4/5 (Close to everything in a great area.) I likely won't be visiting this place again. I'm genuinely surprised this is a local favorite in such an upscale area--perhaps the locals just haven't ventured out enough to know what they're missing.

We loved the decorations in the restaurant too, seeing all the local dog portraits on the wall while we were waiting for our table was enjoyable. The food was incredible. We recently moved to Exton and haven't really gotten a chance to spoil ourselves, and White Dog was a great place to do so. We started with the Mushroom Soup, Oysters, and Artisan Cheese Board. All were delicious! One of the things I loved most were the portion sizes. For the price it was only a touch expensive, but for good reason, the entrees were delicious. My girlfriend got the Salmon, I had the Seafood Bucatini, and textures were masterful. The contrast between the tenderness of the shrimp/scallops and the broccoli rabe/parmesean crisps made each bite a truly special experience. At this age and point in history, it takes a bit to phase me, and I will say - I was phased. Without meaning to, I looked her up and down and gave her a stare that must've conveyed, "WTH?" I said my name and that I had a reservation for 3. I was with my mother-in-law who quite clearly has physical disabilities and the hostess asked, "Do you want to wait for the other person in your party?" Um, no, I want to get my elderly and infirm MIL seated. "No, he's parking and will be right in." "Follow me." And she proceeded to take us quite literally to the seating section that was the absolute furthest away from the front door, as my MIL hobbled along behind her. And the place was dead, so there was no need for that lack of sensitivity. Situational awareness, peeps. When we were seated, each of us was given a different menu. One read "Lunch" one read "Brunch" and one read "Dinner'. We flagged someone down and she said, "Oh, I don't know which menu it should be, let me find out." "You've been open for 4 hours and you don't know what menu you're using?" I wondered quietly to myself. Then the waiter arrived, perfectly affable, also in pajamas, and when he left, my MIL asked, "What is going on? What is everyone wearing?" I said, "Pajamas." NOT the nice meal we had in mind for her. The waiter explained it was a tradition because one day, on New Year's Day, the woman who started the restaurant in the 80s had been so drunk she was incapable of adulting and putting on proper clothes to come to work dressed professionally - so to honor her poor life skills and bad choices - all the staff is now forced to wear pajamas on New Year's Day. How nice for the rest of us. I could see that on a day like April Fools or Halloween or "Bring a Drunk Restaurant Owner to Work Day", but not New Year's Day. But hey - whatevs. The least you could do is push this fact out to people so if someone is looking to have a nice meal in a traditional atmosphere to start the new year - they could consent and/or make another choice. Which clearly, we would have. So odd.
