Movement Baker - Welcome to MC+F Denver!

    Movement Baker

Reportedly a sanitarium, this Movement claims to bring optimum health and vitality to its…read morepatrons--but I assure you that it's a facade, and their ambitions are far more nefarious than one would ever dream. I have damning proof that what I infiltrated on that fateful eve was in fact a mysteriously hedonistic assassins' training camp. Furthermore, I deduced that they specialize in scaling fortress and castle walls, for there is no conceivable reason to put so much effort into ascending those man-made, color-coded structures. I regret not having these assassins on my flank in the Battle of Lodi in 1796, we could've used their expertise on those ghastly walls. Though I question their fortitude in the face of adversity, because their main adversary is seemingly banal intangibles. Yes, I heard from their very mouths that they are after no king, army, or bounty, but rather the "work week" and "stress." I tried to assure them that these targets are far too elusive for any man of this earth to kill or capture. But alas, they persist, undetered by my warnings. Amusement aside, beware of these Movement assassins. Their battle cry is "everyone is welcome," consequently such an inclusive alliance is sure to enlist countless volunteers, and I fear that their numbers will soon swell to surpass even the army of Tsar Alexander. Their dress code evades reason and uniformity. Their ensambles remind me of the those ferocious Mamluks who we fought in the Battle of the Pyramids. And they partake in the most peculiar pre-mating ritual which they refer to as "yoga." They bend and move about in sacriligous gestures wearing only their undergarments. Disturbing as it is, it's working as they openly speak of their premarital sexual exploits openly. They must be stopped, for I overheard that they'll soon be pillaging some territory colloquially known as "Red Rocks." God save us, they are sweaty, persistent little creatures with an endless array of hydrating beverages to fuel their ravenous endeavors. They do have weaknesses though; their sentries show little concern for carriage parking, they have no calvary or artillery, and best of all, they get deeply offended by unsolicited instructions regarding where to put one's hands and feet upon ascending the man-made structures.

The intro class included a climbing shoe rental and access to a chalk bag to help with grip. Even though I was initially intimidated, I was surprised, and delighted to find the atmosphere was the most welcoming, supportive And inclusive fitness space I have ever been in. It seems this climbing gym is also a very social space. They have social events on Monday nights, trivia on Thursdays and there is a bar within the climbing gym so that people can have a beer and hang out after they're done climbing. This place is huge with a variety of climbing walls. At this Denver location. It is exclusively bouldering and no option for ropes climbing but the location in Louisville offers stop. The location is awesome and it's a short walk from downtown Denver or the Denver Art Museum area , and surprisingly it seemed that parking was pretty easy to find nearby. When I came in for the first time, they were offering an introductory special of two weeks for $35 which included an intro to bouldering class that is two hours long. All the memberships include unlimited access to climbing, and some guest passes, though I'm not sure of the specific number. Not only is the atmosphere more accessible than I anticipated but the membership pricing is also some thing that is more accessible than I anticipated. I could not have had a better first experience in a climbing gym, and I'm so grateful to Tristan for his patience and inclusivity for somebody who knew absolutely nothing about climbing. The staff at the front desk was also very warm and welcoming, and the attendees of the intro class were all friendly and supportive. I was also impressed by the create variation of skill levels for the climbing routes. There is some thing for everyone and the ability to progress and improve. The space was also clean and the crash pads were very safe. 10 out of 10 would recommend to a friend.

The gym is massive and even has a separate gym area for lifting of you're a member. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend purchasing chalk or bringing your own as your hands will get ripped. Can rent shoes as well. They practice currently covid regulations with abiding by mask policy and have hydration stations where you can sit on benches. There is even a bar for a celebratory beer after your climbs. The climbs are easily marked for all difficulty areas. I'll definitely be back here as it's one of my favorite bouldering places I've been to around the country!

I've been climbing off and on for about 16 years and really appreciate the attention to detail that Movement offers. Staff are always super helpful. Events are plentiful and if you're wanting to up your game with classes, even learn to lead or belay, they've got you covered. And, nothing beats a clean gym. Bathrooms are really well kept and there are always plenty of locker and cubby spaces. I also appreciate the many lounging areas, both inside and outside of the climbing areas. The layout is well thought out and you don't really feel crowded despite having lots of folks in the gym with you. Membership has its perks for sure and the punch passes are another great option if you're getting your feet wet. Love this gym.

The facility is quite large and has more bouldering and climbing space than the other gyms. It also has a larger fitness area, including a dedicated room for fitness classes and a dedicated yoga room. Given the extra space they are able to offer more class options as well. Pricing reflects other gym franchises around the country - you get what you pay for with Movement IMO, if you choose to take advantage of the many membership benefits available to you (e.g. special events, gear discounts).

Due to the merger with Planet Granite/El Cap Gyms, membership to one gets you access to all the amazing climbing terrain. The amenities are amazing- lots of smaller practice walls and instruction areas upstairs, along with a fitness room/yoga studio. The cardio/weight room is well-equipped and doesn't seem to get overcrowded. One of the best parts is all the classes you can attend with a membership or day pass- strength yoga, relaxation yoga, meditation, HIIT, Prehab/Rehab for injuries, intervals, personal training, etc. There are also free member clinics on things like whipper therapy, knot tying, and techniques. Paid classes are longer and are totally worth the money and cover everything from technique and movement to leading sport climbing indoors and outdoors, and self-Rescue. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Everyone is willing to share their knowledge. And they do a great job fostering community with things like the Partner Project every Tuesday night where you can go solo and meet new climbing partners, and the Facebook trade a belay page that links up people looking for temporary or permanent clubbing partners. I highly recommend this gym if you're new to climbing or experienced. There are great routes for everyone alike on both lead and top rope. Safety is a huge priority here, and I feel much better climbing without seeing sketchy belay practices going on around me. A wonderful place for families too!

Each month, they do provide discounts on certain programmes for anyone who is interested in climbing. I like to climb with Hubs on the weekends, especially on a Saturday morning when there are a few climbers. But my favorite time to climb is during the weekday mornings or afternoons when this place can just be called "my own sanctuary". During the weekdays especially from 5 pm onwards this place can be jam-packed with climbers alike. Each month and every other month, they do change the routes for climbers to progress in their climbing with different range of climbing difficulties. There is also a place for you to do bouldering as well if you dont have a climbing partner to belay. Even my cousin from Singapore who came for a visit sometime around July/August 2009 was awed about this place. If you want, do give them a try to climb. Call them for enquiries or you can visit their website for details : http://www.rocknandjamn.com/ For those who are new into climbing, they do provide introductory classes with a minimal fee that provides the time you climb, the instructor fee, and rental fee of the equipment.
