This is an extensive trail running by an actual creek with numerous mini cascading falls. I biked the first eight miles and the concrete path was well maintained. One endpoint is at Confluence Park with eateries nearby. I turned around at the 8 mile marker because they were redoing the landscape. This is a popular path so mind your fellow humans if cycling.

We had a few hours to spend in Denver before heading west into Colorado for a wedding, and we decided to stretch our legs and take in some views. We walked along the trail for a while around LoDo/Confluence Park. Unfortunately, the views from the trail are pretty underwhelming (at least at this time of year - late August): very brown water, dry and brown banks, etc. The water is pretty brown, the banks of the river and creek dry and brown,... It just wasn't very scenic. If you want a paved place for a run, Cherry Creek Trail is great. It's 40 miles of mostly paved trails! And we only saw this part that runs downtown around Confluence Park. I imagine other areas are nicer, prettier, more scenic. Since the portion we saw wasn't, the most positive things I can say are that it's well-paved and wasn't crowded when were there (but it was a weekday morning)! Nice to have a long trail in a city for biking, walking, running, but the portion we walked along was underwhelming.

I like to run (I just like to eat and drink beer more, which is why I'm somewhat portly) and when I'm in a city, I love it when they have accessible trails near the city center. Cherry Creek Trail was very close to my hotel, so I put on my Sauconys and went for an early morning run my first day in Denver. I went down a ramp from Lawrence St and found myself on the "biking" side of the trail (seems like west of the creek is biking and east of the creek is for pedestrians in the downtown area) so I quickly went up the next ramp I saw and got on the correct path. It was early when I ran so it wasn't hot and the burble of the creek was lovely. As others have mentioned, there is a substantial homeless population around. I didn't feel unsafe but honestly I might not want my sister running down there alone early in the morning or late at night (not that she'd ever run, unless she was chasing an ice cream truck! sorry sis!) When you get to where it connects up with South Platte Trail and there is some construction you need to watch out for. As I was finishing my run it was getting close to 7 am and the trail was busier at that time but not super crowded. The pathway isn't that wide so I imagine on a nice weekend it might be hard to keep up a good pace but it's still great to have a resource like this right in the heart of the city.

This trail is great for biking, running, or taking a stroll. I take the trail home from work and when I want to take advantage of the beautiful days. The trail has many wild animals to see. Mostly bunnies but deer, foxes, ducks, and other animals can be seen. The creek that the trail follows along is beautiful. And the flowers as well. :-)

This is my favorite trail to walk downtown. It goes right through the city and very safe from traffic! I rollerblade here as well

Ask the Community - Cherry Creek Trail

Can I roller skate the cherry creek trail? I would consider myself a beginner to intermediate skater with basic skates.

It is possible to roller skate the Cherry Creek Trail. But roller skates need a smooth surface and parts of the trail are pretty rough, plus this trail is very popular and gets very crowded, especially in downtown Denver and might not be the best… Read more

They suggested going in a counterclockwise direction which got the elevation gain done sooner and would finish with a more gradual descent. Being a sea-level creature, I did have to catch my breath a few times on the way up. Now, at the uppermost part of the loop after a bunch of stone steps, there were some all-rock areas where hunching down with a hand or two on the rock helped with balance. Afterward we noted signs on the trail allowing horses. They must have goat like abilities for those rocky parts, I thought. If you like seeing people, there were plenty during the early afternoon hours, sometimes making passing on narrow trail sections a little tricky. We got lucky with parking, going around the large grassy area only once. On the way out, we thanked the ranger for the great recommendation, gave up our parking spot to the next lucky person and went on our way, with plenty of time for our next activity.

We were in town for spring break so we wanted to drop by and check it out. We arrived on a Thursday early evening. Red Rocks Amphitheater is located 10 miles southwest of Denver in the beautiful town of Morrison, CO. Parking is accessible all around the amphitheater. There was no concert scheduled that night. We were hoping to catch the sunset but unfortunately we missed it. The lighting was still great for pictures though. We parked by the Upper South Lot. From there it was a moderate 10 minute walk to the south ramp of the venue. During the walk the views of the valley is stunning. Once we made it inside the outdoor amphitheater, I was in awe of the beauty and ambiance of the Red Rocks amphitheater. The majestic backdrop of the red rocks was definitely something I have never seen before for a concert venue. It was unique and beautiful. We were able to start from the bottom of the stage area and make our way to the top. It was a nice workout climbing up the seats steps. From the top, the different angle view of the amphitheater and backdrop was amazing as well. Overall we enjoyed our time exploring Red Rocks amphitheater. It was a one of a kind experience. Unfortunately the visitor center was closed and we did not see a live concert at the venue. We hope to be back again so we can attend a concert.

There is nothing more magnificent than seeing natural beauty created by our awesome God. The amphitheater was a sight to see. It's amazing that it was man made. There are a total of three marked hiking trails. We hiked the difficult and medium trails. They weren't that bad at all. The different elevation did make it tough at times, but what an accomplishment it felt when we finished. Also, the view along the way was great. So don't forget to stop and just look around! They also have an easy trail, which is nice, especially if you're taking small children. The visitor center was neat as well with some fun facts and history. If you're hungry, there is one restaurant there with reasonable prices, but of course more on the pricier side. However, I think it would add to the experience if you brought your own food and picnicked along the way or eat at the end. You can definitely spend a whole day here! It's great for a family outing, date, friends hang out, or even just to enjoy solo. I highly recommend visiting this place, especially if you're from out of town.
