Great walking trail by the water, lots of shade, separated trails for pedestrians/runners versus bikes which I appreciated. We had our own graffiti tour, admiring lots of street art along the walls, some realistic, a lot cartoony, super fun. Not too much trash to be seen but my husband commented if we lived here he walk the trail daily and pick up trash to keep the water from being polluted. Highly recommend!

Loving Denver City still, Looking for a trail near water to do a walking meditation while in Denver I was over joyed to find this little gem. I felt safe here. It was so nice and warm outside. One side is for bikes and scooters and the other side of the creek is for pedestrians. There was no one loitering about. Signs saying no standing or sitting periodically. I started uptown and walked till the end there was a child or two and a few dogs playing in the water. The path ended near Union station. It did continue on west but I decided to have lunch and visit the next place on my list; international church of cannabis.

A beautiful mural along the way

I really enjoy this trail. I've ridden my bike on it, walked and run. It ends at Confluence Park, so REI is always a good place to stop into. On most of the trail, pedestrians really have to be careful of bicyclists.

Terrific trail in the heart of downtown Denver. The trail is clean and safe, with separate sides for bikes & runners vs pedestrians only. There are lots of access points from street level to get to the creek and once you're there, you can literally go for miles. Despite the feeling of safety, I wouldn't run this in the dark. There are homeless along the trail and it's not worth the risk.

This is an extensive trail running by an actual creek with numerous mini cascading falls. I biked the first eight miles and the concrete path was well maintained. One endpoint is at Confluence Park with eateries nearby. I turned around at the 8 mile marker because they were redoing the landscape. This is a popular path so mind your fellow humans if cycling.

We had a few hours to spend in Denver before heading west into Colorado for a wedding, and we decided to stretch our legs and take in some views. We walked along the trail for a while around LoDo/Confluence Park. Unfortunately, the views from the trail are pretty underwhelming (at least at this time of year - late August): very brown water, dry and brown banks, etc. The water is pretty brown, the banks of the river and creek dry and brown,... It just wasn't very scenic. If you want a paved place for a run, Cherry Creek Trail is great. It's 40 miles of mostly paved trails! And we only saw this part that runs downtown around Confluence Park. I imagine other areas are nicer, prettier, more scenic. Since the portion we saw wasn't, the most positive things I can say are that it's well-paved and wasn't crowded when were there (but it was a weekday morning)! Nice to have a long trail in a city for biking, walking, running, but the portion we walked along was underwhelming.

I like to run (I just like to eat and drink beer more, which is why I'm somewhat portly) and when I'm in a city, I love it when they have accessible trails near the city center. Cherry Creek Trail was very close to my hotel, so I put on my Sauconys and went for an early morning run my first day in Denver. I went down a ramp from Lawrence St and found myself on the "biking" side of the trail (seems like west of the creek is biking and east of the creek is for pedestrians in the downtown area) so I quickly went up the next ramp I saw and got on the correct path. It was early when I ran so it wasn't hot and the burble of the creek was lovely. As others have mentioned, there is a substantial homeless population around. I didn't feel unsafe but honestly I might not want my sister running down there alone early in the morning or late at night (not that she'd ever run, unless she was chasing an ice cream truck! sorry sis!) When you get to where it connects up with South Platte Trail and there is some construction you need to watch out for. As I was finishing my run it was getting close to 7 am and the trail was busier at that time but not super crowded. The pathway isn't that wide so I imagine on a nice weekend it might be hard to keep up a good pace but it's still great to have a resource like this right in the heart of the city.

This is my favorite trail to walk downtown. It goes right through the city and very safe from traffic! I rollerblade here as well

Ask the Community - Cherry Creek Trail

Can I roller skate the cherry creek trail? I would consider myself a beginner to intermediate skater with basic skates.

It is possible to roller skate the Cherry Creek Trail. But roller skates need a smooth surface and parts of the trail are pretty rough, plus this trail is very popular and gets very crowded, especially in downtown Denver and might not be the best…

They have very nice restrooms at the Ranger station, and more overflow port a potties around if needed too. The nearby trail is highly accessible and it doesn't take long for some views to pay off. It's a decently steep incline, but nothing crazy at all. Once you're into the trees the shade helps against the thin air and the sun, and it's so quiet and serene. No mosquitoes like I'm used to back home. Loved all the birds (shoutout magpies) and also seeing everyones' dogs.

I have heard and talked about Red Rocks for decades, but had never been. My wife and I were in Colorado visiting friends and saw online that one of my favorite female voices of all time, Sarah McLachlan was playing a show at the same time we were in the area. It was a no-brainer! I could potentially make this one of my longest reviews ever, but I'll try to keep it short by saying this venue was everything I wanted it to be and more. Parking was easy as there were people directing you from the bottom of the hill up to the venue the entire way. I recommend getting there early like we did, so you don't have to shuttle from one of the outer lots. We had a short and simple walk from our parking lot to the entrance. I also recommend bringing some sort of rain gear just in case because of the random storms that show up in that area. The good news is they're gone almost as quick as they arrive, which was the case for us. After about 30 minutes of rain, the sun came back out, and it turned into a perfect summer night in Colorado. As for the concert, I've never been to a place where the venue gets talked about almost just as much as the artist. Sarah McLachlan is always incredible (still amazing after all these years) but our group talked about Red Rocks almost just as much as her. The view is amazing, there really isn't a bad seat in the entire place, and the acoustics seem to be almost perfect. We actually really liked their food options as well. That said, I wish I would've done my homework because a lot of people have brought their own into the venue and that's something. We probably would've done as well. Check their website for details before you arrive. One last note, don't forget to stop by their visitor center. I'm so glad we didn't skip it because not only does it share the history of this incredible venue, but they also have an area where they list off by year every single artist who has ever played there from the beginning to now. That was super cool! Truthfully, my entire Red Rocks experience was perfect. People who live in the area know what I'm talking about and if you ever visit Colorado, do yourself a favor and cross this amazing place off your bucket list. By the way, concerts are amazing here but it's also open to the public during the day just to check out. So cool!

Be sure to explore the amphitheater, and if you can fit a concert into your plans, don't miss it. It's an unforgettable experience. Just be prepared for Colorado's unpredictable weather. We arrived for the concert early and waited in the parking lot for the gates to open. It was sweltering, and everyone was dressed for the heat in shorts and tank tops. Once the gates opened and we made it through security, we were only a few minutes from entering the amphitheater when the skies opened up and it started pouring. Fortunately, we had packed lightweight rain jackets, so we stayed comfortable. Many others weren't as prepared and ended up soaked. The lesson? Do your research, check the forecast, but don't depend on it. Bring layers and rain gear, even if the day starts out hot. There is nothing more magnificent than seeing natural beauty created by our awesome God. The amphitheater was a sight to see. It's amazing that it was man made. There are a total of three marked hiking trails. We hiked the difficult and medium trails. They weren't that bad at all. The different elevation did make it tough at times, but what an accomplishment it felt when we finished. Also, the view along the way was great. So don't forget to stop and just look around! They also have an easy trail, which is nice, especially if you're taking small children. The visitor center was neat as well with some fun facts and history. There is also a Trading Post where you can purchase souvenirs. The shirts are crazy expensive, but if you shop in the clearance section, it is more affordable. If you're hungry, there is one restaurant there with reasonable prices, but of course more on the pricier side. However, I think it would add to the experience if you brought your own food and picnicked along the way or eat at the end. You can definitely spend a whole day here! It's great for a family outing, date, friends hang out, or even just to enjoy solo. I highly recommend visiting this place, especially if you're from out of town.
