I visited Palmer MA for a few days and one night we ordered out from Apollos. I'm from NJ and we have a few pretty good Italian take out places so I wasn't expecting much. When we picked it up and got in the car my hopes were picked up by the great smell. Maybe it was because I was so hungry but I thoroughly enjoyed my baked ziti. The sauce was good, the cheese melted nicely and the bread that came with it tasted fresh and was nice and soft. I went back for thirds and had a bit of my friend's chicken parm. One thing I hate about Yelp is the majority of its reviewers are 20-30 year olds. This is probably because they grew up with the internet, while the older population did not, thus the older folk are not as tech savvy to post unbiased reviews on Yelp.com. Palmer is a beautiful small town. Unfortunately much to boring for a city "hipster" who only frequent overpriced, overhyped, fashionable establishments in Cambridge or Newton. But it's all about being seen, and acting cool, right?? As someone who has lived in Brighton and hungout at the Rat in Kenmore, before the old city was torn down and became a rich college kids play-ground, I too have a problem with the two "Boston" reviews below. As for an unbiased review from someone who has lived around the city, my wife and I love this place. It is a typical small town, restaurant with an above average menu. We have eaten here 6 or so times now and never have left disappointed. Went there to give this place a chance again after the remodel ... The one star is not for the food because we never ate . Came in for lunch .. Place was a little busy not crazy ... Stood there waiting for a booth to be cleaned for about 5 minutes .. No one acknowledged us at all !!! No attempt to say be with you .. I'm pretty sure we are not invisible... If your looking for good no frills Italian food in a casual and friendly atmosphere this is the place. Started with the broasted chicken wings with a mild buffalo sauce and there fantastic very crispy with just the right amount of heat. Next the girls and I split a large combo pizza which was also very delicious. The wife had the veal parm and she was very pleased with portion and flavor. First of all, the first thing you see when you walk in is a small hand-written sign "Please seat yourself". OK, so we did. The waitress, who I believe was an owner, did not even look at us when she came to the table to drop off the menus. She was obviously pre-occupied with something else. We got a couple sodas, they came ok. We ordered a turkey sandwich and a pastrami club. It was lunch and we weren't overly hungry. Just a couple quick sandwiches. Right! It took 20 minutes for the food to get to us, meanwhile the waitress was talking to the table behind us (loudly). They were regulars, obviously, they knew each others' business, and now I do too thanks to the Looong conversation! The runner brought our food, plopped down the plates, wrong, I might add. Stopped here while running earns and it was a pleasant surprise. I had a wrap and it was great. Two days later we my son had friends over at the last minute so I figured I would order a pizza. Decent food, but mainly because their is nothing else in town. Service is absolutely awful. The servers could care less unless you are a local. Waited 15 minutes for a menu and another 10 for the waitress to come back with our drinks. Better off to call in your order then to dine their. Used to get pizza from here in the past and it has been decent. However after becoming quite the pizza fanatic i have found this place to be overpriced for what you get. The last time i ordered a party pizza here there was almost no sauce on it, very minimal cheese, and all the edge pieces had little to no toppings on them. Also the pizza cools down within no time and looses all of its heat, weird. Anyways there are much better and more reasonably priced places to go! read more

Went here last night for dinner. Wanted something other than the usual chains. My family used to go here a lot years ago. The remodel looks good and the place was clean. The food was simple but we left satisfied. I got the chicken parm and the flavors were basic but it was cooked right and the portion was plenty. I will say it was drenched in sauce that was a little soupy though. I like more sauce on my pasta so it didnt bother me. Meals did come with soup or a basic salad and bread. We had no complaints with the service and the food came fairly quick. Prices were pretty steep for the type of food they serve though, most of the dinners are well over $15.00. Kids meals are $7.50. For two dinners with regular soda's and a kids meal with juice our bill was about $52 + tip. We would go here again but probably for pizza or grinders due to the prices. I would give it a solid 3 stars just because simple pizza joint type food shouldn't come with 4 star restuarant prices. If they stepped it up just a little bit in the kitchen they could probably justify the prices and earn the 4 stars. read more

Seems that the quality of food went down hill since the restaurant make over. I have gone there for years and I wasn't impressed the last time I went. I had the fish and chips. I'm pretty sure the fish was previously frozen. It was dry and tasteless. The coleslaw was bland. I've gotten it in the past and it was very good. I was looking forward to having it again. We hadn't stopped by in a while and when we left I was wondering why. It's not a fine dining restaurant. It's a family pizza restaurant.. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are plentiful. You will always have some to take home. I had the chicken and broccoli Alfredo and my wife ordered a turkey club. My dinner came with a salad and hers with fries. The salad was crisp and fresh. Not a gourmet salad but as I said previously it's a family pizza place. My wife's fries were excellent. Crispy hot and tasty. Turkey club was a turkey club. My Alfredo was very good with a nice portion of tender chicken and crisp tender broccoli. Service was friendly and prompt. Best place around the area if you're a buffalo chicken pizza fan!!! There aren't very many GOOD pizza shops around town and this one is actually very good, and the toppings on the pizzas are always fresh. I'm a big fan of Broccoli on my Buffalo Chicken so I would highly recommend that. I haven't have had many other orders from here, the grinders I've gotten were all very good. The decor is ok, nothing special but it's a nice place to go out with some friends and grab a slice of pizza with the jukebox playing at the booth. We went here with my boyfriend about a year or so ago on a date too but it's not a very romantic atmosphere plus the booths only have a tiny walkway in between so when there's someone on the other side it feels like you're joining them for dinner. Not a huge fan of the pizza but then again I'm not a big fan of pan pizza's or a more greek style crust. I use to into the place alot along time ago but when I went in today it has changed. Have had good meals here but today I was disappointed. My wife and I stopped in for a quick meal, they had stuffed peppers (plural) for a special which I ordered. My stuffed peppers turned out to be a pepper cut in half. I expressed my disappointment to our waitress telling her that it was advertised as stuffed peppers and all I got was one pepper which I could have purchased at a diner for $6.95 not the $12.95 they charged. While she agreed with me and thought the portion very small and went to the manager with my issue, no consideration was made on the check nor did the manager come out himself to talk wth me. Furthermore, she told me that the manager said they can't control the size of the peppers that the produce company brings them.? Asked again, is this stuffed peppers or stuffed pepper... My wife asked her if we cut an orange in half does that make it oranges? Will have to consider if I'll take my business/money here in the future. Too bad, thought the new owners/managers would want to make their customers happy. read more
