Alexander broke my night stand while trying to remove the window they had to glue it on but how long will that last? 2nd they put the wrong half moon window in and had to come back w the correct one. 3rd was the two windows 29 x54 had tinted film on it that was scrathed up and needs replacing now on all 4 windows to match. Requested a quote from this company since I saw a service tech working in our neighborhood on a simple replacement. Tech looked like he knew his job. We were advised to call and get the sales team out. Sales employee Naz L. Seemed incompetent. First off, had to call to receive the email quote since I didn't receive it after 48 hrs, but was told it "may have gone to spam." No idea. Anyways, sneaky company. Quoted me almost DOUBLE the price for one simple regular (not tempured) glass piece replacement of a window. Not even a big project. About an hour of work and these guys put sneaky notes on your invoice. Do you think we are incompetent customers and do not notice your fine print you snuck on our invoice Naz? I specifically asked Naz so we're on the same page that the team installing would install the glass from the INSIDE on the window. He stated yes, I said from external is NOT an option since it is newer capping! WHY would I allow them to damage my exterior so they can do their job easier?! He then writes on contract "Exterior aluminum capping. In terms of installation of a new glass our company may need to remove existing aluminum capping from outside and our company is not responsible for any damages to it." LOL let me get this straight. You want me to pay you for damaging my exterior capping in order for your team to replace the glass you're already getting paid to do and then I have to fix your damage as well when it can easily be done from the inside!! Your team verified that already! Easy job. Sneaky company - NO thank you. Would never give them our business. Might I add they told me they would come the next day between 12-2pm then hours later i get a text notifying me of a completely different confirmation time and NO ONE asked if that time worked for us. I have two Pella casement windows. They were installed in the mid 1980s and were becoming balky and difficult to close. I assumed the closing mechanism was worn. I called several Pella dealers and though none have of them did actual repairs, they were were all happy to try and sell me new windows. Apex was immediately responsive, their guy showed up as scheduled and quickly diagnosed the problem as a rotted bottom piece. He even effected a short term repair on the spot. We had these folks attend to replacing rollers on an aging sliding door in a recently purchased condominium unit. The technician named Philip was very courteous and professional. He also went above and beyond when he noticed that the latch on the locking mechanism was not functioning properly, a detail not included in the agreed upon scope of work that we contracted for. Being that the slider was original to the property, built in the late 80's, this part was not in stock and had to be special ordered. It's hard to give a rating because we had two polar opposite experiences. We had several window glass replacements + some wood replacement scheduled. Scheduling was easy, and the initial consultation went well. We scheduled the work, but the first contractors that came did a terrible and unsafe job -- causing us a tremendous amount of stress on a number of levels. One reason is that while the first guy came promptly at 9am and immediately took down the glass (leaving our house wide open all day), the second guy (who was needed to put up the new glass) didn't arrive until around 4:30pm -- right as a major downpour was about to hit, and so they did everything in an extreme hurry despite having been there all day. I called Apex the next day to complain and sent an email with photos documenting all the problems. To their credit, they sent someone the next day, who listened to all our serious concerns, and said they would send someone more skilled out to take care of everything. We had to wait a week, but then Stas came and was fantastic. He and his colleague spent all day fixing all the problems from the first round. He listened to every concern, fixed each thing carefully and with attention to detail, showed me different options and asked for my input, explained everything to me, and went above and beyond, even cleaning our storm window (not being replaced) before reinstalling. The staining of the new window sash was not done well and we will have to re-do it, but after everything, we can handle that. So, basically, I would give Stas 5 stars, and the first people (I don't know their names) 1 star. In the end, I'm giving the company 3 stars because in the end, we have beautifully repaired windows and no hazards remaining -- and Apex was responsive to our complaints -- but it was extremely stressful to get there. The estimator they sent did not wear his mask over his nose or even attempt to stand six feet away from us while talking to us. I shared this when I made the appointment and expressed my concern. In our household we have a senior citizen with asthma and I am pregnant. So we take COVID precautions seriously and expected the same from Apex. I was promised that they would make a note in my file and when they came to do the work masks would be worn properly, the technicians would wear gloves and take all safety measures they could. They showed up at my gate NOT WEARING MASKS AT ALL and only went back to their van to put them on because my husband asked them to. After they had been working for 20 minutes or so, they were inside my home with MASKS OFF AGAIN and seemed surprised that I asked them again to put their masks on. They have not made serious attempts to return my calls in the past two days. EDIT 7/24 This company sure knows how to make a bad situation worse. First one of the employees calls me to yell at me for writing this review, argues with me and attempts to bribe me to take it down (but doesn't apologize). It was inappropriate and makes me feel unsafe since they have my contact info and address. Then the owner leaves this non-apology response about all of their covid guidelines. I am telling you that the guidelines were not followed by your employees so it is probably appropriate to lead with the apology instead of a lecture. I confirmed that the notes in my account stressed the importance of following covid guidelines because our household was at risk. The employees were not "carefully following guidelines" so please do not try to tell me that you are. Instead of being defensive apologize first and commit to doing better. The end. read more

Then when they came to do the work they said their estimator took the wrong measurements and they'd have to reschedule again. When they called to reschedule the work I asked if they could do anything for the inconvenience of having to come to the apartment 4 times to get one window replaced, and the customer service representative was rude and made me feel like I was being unreasonable for asking. They installed and repaired 4 windows. When it's all finished, Window frame were mix match with different kind of wood and PVC. Beside, They are not a good communicators, over the phone and emailing. I made a call for the inspection but, they said that We now have the price miscommunication issue too. They came and installed windows and now we have a issue with water dripping. After we called to set up an appointment but the day of appointment, no show, they don't want to come because they say we owe money, which we don't. So I Ask for the manager to talk, they said he's out of town. So I called sales person Denice and not answering my calls. We may have the potential claim against the curtains and or wood floor but they don't want to care about coming to look for water drippings. Anybody else had similar experiences with them? Chicago winters are so brutal. I was sitting in the living room and a wind blasted at the back of my head. I looked in the window frame and rot had crept in and kept the window from closing properly. For the living room, the frame completely rotted and had to be ripped out and replaced. DO NOT USE APEX. Their customer service is absolutely horrible, possibly the worst experience I've had with a service company ever. I called about a quote for a fogged pane of glass. A guy came out to take a look and wrote up a quote. Great, I say, when can we schedule the repair? "Oh, we'll need another guy to come out and actually *measure* the window." Ummm, OK, I thought that's why the first guy came out. So when can we schedule inspection #2? "Thursday between 10am and noon is wide open!" OK I guess I can take off work then. Thursday noon comes and no inspector. I call Apex. "Oh oops that crew is running late and won't be able to make it." Hmm, why didn't anyone call me so I could go back to work? "We're so so SO sorry, can we reschedule for Saturday so you don't have to take off work?" Sure, but you're definitely going to be there, right? Wrong. The rest of Chicago is enjoying one of the last weekends of summer, and I'm sitting around waiting for a mythical worker and his golden measuring tape. I call Apex. Where are you? "Oh noooo, you're totally right. We blew it. Big time. We're so so SO sorry!" One more chance, I thought. Nobody screws up three times in a row like this, do they? Well, here I am, waiting for Apex for the third time. No one is here measuring. No one has called to give a status. They're not answering the office phone. They don't have an answering service.
