However, there was one vendor who stood out amongst the crowd and that vendor was Next Door and Window. I carefully watched, during the install and was able to see the critical parts of the process that Gary had described to me. It was obvious that the installer was both knowledgeable and capable. My experience working with All Star was great from start to finish and exactly what you would hope for in a contractor. Dave responded quickly to evaluate the project, he was attentive to my concerns and what I needed, and he presented me with a range of quality and price options. Based on my research and competing quotes, the cost for my chosen option was reasonable. I wanted better windows and I knew they would take a while longer to manufacture. Unfortunately, we were up against a deadline with winter coming and weren't able to sneak the job in before the weather turned consistently bad. It was definitely worth waiting for though. On the day of installation, the crew arrived on time, were very professional, and they did a fantastic job. I would definitely hire All Star again for another project based on price, quality, and service. (This next piece will not be of interest to everyone, but if you are a single female homeowner, I think you know what I'm talking about when I say that a genuinely respectful contractor who listens and doesn't just flex, lecture you, and then try to hard sell you something you don't want is a gem. Dave never asked where the man of the house was either, so thank you for that. Amazing that I have to be grateful for being respected but that's where we are. Thank you, Dave.)

Not only do the new windows look sleek and modern, but the entire process was top-notch from start to finish. What really stood out to us was their honesty. While other companies tried to sell us on full-frame replacements, SHS actually advised us to go with insert replacements. They pointed out that our house has high-density older wood framing that was worth preserving. Following their advice preserved the character and strength of our home while saving us a significant amount of money. Their communication was excellent throughout the project, and the installation crew was fantastic: punctual, respectful, and meticulous about keeping the worksite clean. On top of that, their guarantee is rock-solid. I feel completely confident that this was a lifelong investment and that they will stand by their work if anything ever comes up down the road. If you're looking for high-quality window replacement with an honest team you can trust, highly recommend Scientific Home Services.

I was hoping to repair them, but had a few companies come out (including McCann) and it appeared we need to fully replace them. McCann was the second company that came out and they sent Max. Max gave us a lot of good information on the best materials, sizing of the doors, etc. He recommended we go to the Pella showroom together to check out all the options, which was super helpful. Based on my experience with Max and Pella I was about to order doors thru them, but then got a quote that seemed quite high once they realized the doors would have to be a custom size and we would also have to customize for color (to match our other windows). I decided it was an expensive enough purchase that I should shop around some more and ended up going with another company. Overall, I found Max to be pretty responsive and knowledgeable when it came to doors/windows. While McCann didn't work for our needs this time they would be worth reaching out to for other window/door replacements in the future.

The windows were largely done well (with the exception of one incorrect size being ordered), but the trim and doors were a completely different story. To start, the rep showed up 30 minutes late to our first appointment with no communication that he was running behind. When everything was finally ordered in mid-November, we were quoted 6 weeks for delivery. We are now past mid-March and we still do not have our full order delivered to the site and one of the doors is expected in May. To top it all off, the rep has been completely unresponsive to messages - I have not heard an update on my order for a week despite 5 messages and the claim that the remainder of the order would be in early this week (pushed back multiple times already). The least they could do is communicate well if they aren't going to deliver on their commitments. I was given no flexibility to cancel my order when these ridiculous delays started and other than a vague "we'll see if we can do a discount", there have been no efforts to make this right.
