Tried it again and it wasn't as good as I remembered. Sad story because I referred people to it!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I felt this was worth mentioning. I had been traveling for over a day and a half and was extremely exhausted. I politely asked the front desk if there was anywhere I could sit and rest my eyes for a few minutes until check-in. The staff member immediately said no and made it clear that resting or sleeping anywhere in the lobby was not allowed. The interaction felt dismissive and not very friendly, and I noticed a similar tone when he was speaking with other guests. Another issue was the bathroom setup. I stayed on the second floor and there were no women's restrooms on that floor, so I had to go up and down the stairs each time I needed to use the bathroom. After check-in, I finally fell asleep because I was so exhausted, but I was suddenly woken up by loud pounding on my door( not a gentle knock )The staff member said he had made a mistake and placed me in the wrong room. I understand mistakes happen -- I've stayed in hostels all over the world -- but the way it was handled felt disruptive. As I was getting up to move rooms, he suddenly said I could just stay where I was. I had originally booked a four-bed female dorm because I hoped to meet other travelers, so having the room to myself wasn't really what I expected-but ultimately, I was grateful that I did have the room to myself so that was one positive He said he would make it up to me with a free breakfast token, but the breakfast ended up being very minimal (bread, cheese, yogurt, cucumber, and cereal). Overall, the atmosphere just didn't feel very welcoming. If you're looking for something friendlier with a better vibe, I would recommend Abbey Court Hostel instead -- the staff there are VERY kind, the common areas are lively- and they won't kick you out if you need to rest your eyes for 30 minutes and it feels much more inviting for travelers. I really do hate to leave a negative review, but this is mainly to make awareness to other travelers

They also have games available to play. Their receptionists were always nice and helpful and I just liked the community spaces available. They have a locked room as well to store your luggage if you don't have a room yet. Breakfast is served on the bottom floor also. The buffet breakfast was not it. Very minimal options and kind of depressing of what actually was available. The elevators were pretty sketchy. One of them always seemed to work fine but the other one we could never get to go up from the lobby. They didn't allow you to take the stairs to go up which I thought was weird. We were staying on floor 2 so it was annoying to have to wait for a working elevator every time. The beds in the room were fine. Typical hostel bed and they provided us with a pillow, blanket, and towel. The shower in the bathroom in the room was fine but the toilet didn't flush so we always had to go to the community bathroom down the hall. Not the end of the world but just frustrating at times. Best part about this place was the location. There were a couple restaurants and coffee shops nearby as well as convenience stores like a Tesco express around the corner. The Jameson distillery is literally right around the corner and you can get a discount for the Jameson tasting tour if you tell them you are staying at the Generator. It was also very close to temple bar!

I was wanting to try something authentically Irish. I went with the Black Pudding Sausage Roll. I have never had black pudding before & was going to give it a try. Its appearance was different than what I had envisioned but again I have never had it. The roll was quite tasty. My wife looked at the blacken pastry log with both discuss & curiosity. She looked up let her judgement down & speed to the internet for this mysterious beginning. Upon, learning of it origin asked if I had known what the contents were of this darken beast. Knowing the context of the question & that she would inform me of my potential horror I pressed on. The Black Pudding Sausage Roll was finished before the origins could be revealed. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has never experienced a true Irish meal.

They allegedly serve an authentic Irish breakfast, which I had to try. It is all mostly delicious, affordable, and the service is friendly and fast to boot. The plate is arrayed beautifully, with the beans, sausage, rashers, and eggs tasting fresh. The generous amount of toast more than makes up for the heavy meats on the plate. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the pudding, and the hash browns did look a tad greasy, but the tomato and mushroom make up for them. They added good texture and balance to the meal. Sit back and relax, or get to work early and enjoy a nice breakfast here. It is a great way to start your day off right.

You are required to order three items from the menu, which is no problem with all the delicious options. One of our dining guests got the scallop starter and kind enough to share a bite. It was fantastic. I had the deviled egg. Nice but not over the top. In hindsight, I'd would do double scallops. Round two was marinated tomatoes with ricotta cheese and peaches. A very good options for two of our guests. I had the Beef cheeks and ox tail in a Parker House roll with bone marrow gravy. Wow! Delicious! And another guest had the bone marrow with chimichurri and toasted brown bread. Fantastic! For mains, one couple shared the beef specialty, a sirloin roast cooked a perfect medium rare. My wife had the White Pork which is a thick cut pork chop. Very good, well seasoned as well as moist and tender. I had the pork schnitzel. While good, it was pretty basic. In hindsight, should have gone for the halibut. Wine list gave you ample opportunities to select from French wines and a few Italian. With one American. Would like to see this area of the restaurant expanded a bit. All in all a wonderful dining experience.
