The Hawkmoor is ok, nice atmosphere, satisfactory food, and mediocre service. My wife and arrived 30 minutes early (6:00 PM (18:00)) and decided to have a drink at the bar. This was the best experience of our night as the bartender was very engaging, easy to talk to, and made the perfect martinis. Once we were finally seated we order another round of vodka martinis. The first round came out as Gin martinis (which I don't mind but not what I want) so we sent them back, the second round was half vermouth half vodka which was disgusting so we sent it back again and could tell the waitress was very annoyed. The third round was fine but, after that we figured it was best to switch to red wine. From there our appetizer, steaks, sides, arrived and everything was satisfactory. We weren't upset or disappointed but the Hawkmoor wasn't anything to write home about. We then ordered dessert and another cocktail. Once it arrived I pulled my credit card out and left it on the table to signal we were done. From there an additional 20-30 minutes went by and we could not find our waitress so we just sat there enjoying each others company. By this point both of our desserts and drinks were finished and we just sat there with our credit card on the table waiting for the check while enjoying each others company. It took an additional 15/20 minutes for someone to finally come to our table. However, the person that came to our table was the Manager who let us know that we needed to leave or else we would need to forfeit our table. Having previously been in the service industry we both understood the importance of turning tables and explained we had been waiting for the check and you could tell he didn't care about the solution.
Once he came back we presented him with a credit card for which he asked for an additional form of ID which left a sour taste in our mouth. I understand it is to "protect us" however, the bills was only $250 and we made multiple dinners prior that were more expensive and were never asked for additional ID. At the end of the night our dinner was fine but, this isn't a restaurant I would recommend to anyone visiting Dublin or NYC. read more
