I hired Apco for deck and patio. It took them over a year to complete the project and even at the completion of the project and my vocalization of my unhappiness with the patio, they were willing to reimburse me $300. Despite the patio not being treated before winter, then when they did come out it was a terrible finish and another company corrected. The patio is not level in a couple areas and the custom stamp and cuts they made in the patio were not lifted up causing a bubble like look. Also, while completing the project, I called in numerous times to complain, I would have people come out at the end, but after several services calls and nothing accomplished, I finally stopped fighting and said I would leave a review. Buyer beware. If I could give zero stars that would be more appropriate. They are a horrible, terrible company filled with people who don't know what they are doing and don't seem to care. They have been given there trys to do a gutter system correctly on my home and I finally turned to another company to get it done properly even though the repair was still under warranty. That's how much I do not trust them. Then they showed up at my neighbor's today and without permission used my driveway as a dumping ground for debris. They took the debris away but left a dirty filthy mess and lots of rusty nails for me to contend with. The guy I tried to talk to on the job site was belligerent and would not stop using my property when asked to do so. I probably had every right to call authorities. Apco used to (may still) partner with a company I used to work for. I also know a couple ofo people who worked there so they were a natural first call when I needed new siding. My sales person came out quickly and provided a quote. He even quoted for windows as well. They were within my budget and I gratefully added those as well. The team was fantastic along the way. Each crew I worked with was a pleasure. Windows went in first, then siding, and then a gutter crew to finish up. I love my new exterior to my house. I Hired Apco to put new siding on my house, it did not need it we really just wanted a color change and a new look, what a mistake! I am giving one star only because you must to leave a review. I told the salesman that I had extensive construction back ground and wanted to make sure the siding was installed correctly, he told me that there crews are so good they never have problems! I said I want to make sure the siding is left with proper room to expand when hot and shrink when cold, also nails are to be in the nail slots loosely so siding can move horizontally when expanding. I was told it woud take six weeks for them to start, at eight weeks I was calling them beause I had not heard anything and weather was now getting cold, finally they called with a start date. The day they came out Jay who was the supervisor showed up to meet me and we talked for ten minutes and he left! I went to an appointment, when I came back nine workers none of which could speak any English were there. Hitting the nails far to forcefully there work was beyond sloppy, siding cut to long or to short! The salesman said it would take seven to eight days to complete the Job, they were done in one day! These people do not know what a level is used for evidently, I have siding that is not level and started at different heights on each side of electical conduit on the front of my home so it looks ridiculous! Our house house has several exposed areas where improper cuts were made and are now subject to water infiltration. We have had them out two times to let them fix some of the visual problems, I have wasted my time walking around showing Jay the superintendent all of the eye sores and he gets two items fixed and says they are done! At this point we have siding up high on the east side of our house that was cut to short, but clearly not nailed properly because it is starting to come off! Our experience to this point has been terrible and we are still trying to let them make it right. The biggest problem is the siding being nailed to tight and cuts that are to tight, which leads to warping and leaking in the years to come. I have the manufacturers istallation instructions which were clearly not followed, and voids the manufacturers warranty. The proper solution would be to tear the siding off and have a trained supervised crew start over! I could go on but this is already to long save yourself a lot of grief and premature aging and find a company that cares about quality! read more

I would rate this place zero stars if I could. Let me start by saying we spent over $40,000 with Apco and I will NEVER use them again! Delivered wrong color screen AND exterior doors. I had to pay to have them painted correctly because our sales guy never wrote down a single thing we told him. Then we had a manufacturer defect in a window - 9 months later and 3 attempts to fix it we still have a huge broken front window. 9 months and 3 attempts to fix it and every single time we've had to call them and ask if our window was even in. After a lot of time researching the best choice for replacing our original windows, we decided that we wanted Marvin Windows. APCO was recommended as the local experts and we couldn't be happier with the results. It was a long wait, but we were forwarded and to the best of my knowledge, this has been pretty standard for companies during the pandemic. They mistakenly painted the outsides of the windows a different color than what we chose, but we ended up liking it and wanting to keep it. The only issue was that the windows that were replaced no longer matched the original windows we kept. APCO painted the rest of our windows at no charge so that they would match the new windows. They were thorough in their follow-ups and the results were outstanding. Highly recommended! read more

I was happy for a few years but then the seals in mist of our windows broke and almost all our window were foggy !! We called about a dozen times and got the same old promises. They would be sure to take care of it. Another put off and they never helped us, they never came out and they wouldn't take our calls. So after many months of Absolutely NO Customer Service we gave up! We called Universal Windows and had excellent service. We purchased all new windows AGAIN and are now happy with the windows and the service. Just be very aware of the smooth talkers that are just that - All Talk and NO Customer Service especially if you have a problem!!! Don't trust Apco!! Do your homework and then call anyone but APCO !! Apco did come down and installed my windows and doors. The crew did a fine job with the installation. The doors and three of the five windows are great and I am very happy with them. Two windows were left unfinished on the interior as they did not have the finishing kit. APCO did come back the following week to install the finishing kit, however the caulk used was a different color than the rest of the windows and doors. A monor point but it does chafe me. read more

This is a mixed review: some things were good; some were not good. First of all, the windows are great. We purchased 7 Marvin Ultimate wood double-hung windows for the back of our house from the Pro Exterior division of APCO. These were full-frame replacement windows. The sales process was painless and pleasant. There was no hard sell and no special "sales". The price was lower than the quotes we got for fiberglass inserts and for vinyl windows, so it was a great value. It took a couple of months longer to get the windows installed than originally estimated, but that was no surprise since supply chains were backed up everywhere. We are very pleased with the windows. They are high quality and attractive. The screens are not as high quality and some were slightly warped and did not fit flush with the window sill. We have been promised replacement screens. On installation day, two men showed up at our door who said they were going to install our windows. Their truck was not an APCO truck, but instead was painted with the name of a different company. APCO did not forewarn us that their installers are subcontractors which caught us by surprise. Not sure why they never mentioned this. There were two installers who installed all seven windows in one day. They did not have masks on when they knocked on the door, but they agreed to wear masks when I asked. Some of our windows had shelves immediately below, and that presented challenges to the installers, but they worked very hard to restore the shelves to the original condition. Not perfect, since their main skills are installing windows, and not finish carpentry or repairing tile grout cracks. The installers were courteous and seemed competent. After the installers left, we noticed a very strong chemical odor that evening. It was powerful and overwhelming. It smelled like a solvent of some sort. The next morning, my wife and I had headaches, slight nausea, and lung irritation. These symptoms continued off and on for a while. For three days, we kept the windows open during the day and ran the attic fan to ventilate the house. At first, I was concerned that it might be uncured foam insulation, but was convinced by a technical representative of the foam manufacturer that the odor we smelled is not consistent with their product's characteristics. I asked the subcontractor and the APCO project manager what they may have used to cause this noxious odor, but I was never given a straight answer. They did not seem to be willing to admit to using a solvent to clean residue of foam insulation from the woodwork - something I saw one of the installers do right before they left, although at the time I did not know what substance he was using. We eventually checked into a hotel to minimize our exposure, and returned to the house during the day to keep things ventilated. We discovered a small area of carpet that smelled especially strong, as though solvent had been spilled on it. After one week, the odor final went away. This experience was a nightmare for us. APCO's project manager was defensive during the several conversations we had about the problem, insisting that the subcontractor only used water-based stain to touch up scratches on the windows. He would not acknowledge that the subcontractor might have used a volatile substance to clean insulation foam residue from wood surfaces on the trim moldings. When I asked him what he expects his subcontractors to use to clean dried foam insulation residue from the trim wood, he said he leaves these issues up to the subcontractors. Coincidentally, two of my neighbors recently had new windows installed (by other companies) and I asked them if they had any problems with irritating fumes. APCO sided my house 1 year ago. A window was improperly flashed so that there is water pouring into my living room during heavy rain. I have had them back to fix it twice over the last few months and their repair has been totally ineffective. I have been in contact with a supervisor (Dale) for the last 3 weeks. Despite assurances that he "would get back to me" he has been totally unresponsive to repeated calls. They still don't have a plan to remedy the situation. I suspect the side of the house needs to be resided to fix the problem and they are not willing to do that. In the mean time my house is at risk for ongoing damage. Just an ok experience. Salesman forgot our first appointment. He was friendly but somewhat distracted during our contract process. Installers were friendly and appeared to want to do a good job. I recently purchased 17 windows and a bay window from this Columbus based company. The sales service from John was outstanding; there wasn't an elaborate dog and pony show I received with some other window companies in Columbus (Some stayed in my home for over 4 hours!) They manufactured my windows 3 weeks ahead of schedule and were very accommodating when it came time for installation. If you are looking for quality windows, locally based company and great customer service I highly recommend at least getting a quote from APCO. read more

APCO has already been out twice to fix a leak we have around a window. Today, it's pouring and the window is leaking yet again. We called to request that someone come out today so that they can assess the problem when it is actively leaking and were told they would try to find someone to send out and call us back. In 2012, we hired APCO Industries of Columbus, OH to remodel the exterior of our home using pre-finished HardiePlank and HardieShingle siding. Upon completion of the work, APCO offered only a 10 year non-transferrable warranty on the product and installation, even though both the Hardie and APCO websites promised a 30 year transferrable warranty. The 30 year warranty was also reiterated by the salesman when we signed the purchase agreement. This became particularly important to us after we realized that APCO's installation of shingles on the front of the house did not follow the manufacturer's recommended best practices, and as a result could begin to fail prematurely. In early August of 2014, I contacted APCO to make a warranty claim due to the appearance of a gap between two corner boards on a front corner of the house. APCO refused my request to set a specific date and time to inspect the damage when I could be home to meet with their representative. Seven weeks and dozens of phone calls later, they now refuse to give me a specific date when the repairs will be made. If you're thinking about Hardie siding products for the outside of your home, you may want to find another installer. Just Say No to SLAPCO. read more

I had siding & gutters done. We had some hiccups along the way with the crew working. However, I brought these to Jerry's attention and he was able to have the project completed to my satisfaction. I even changed my mind on a vent after siding was done in that area (was no longer needed) and they removed the vent and patched up that area of siding. Looks great. I'm really pleased overall and it has added a lot of value to my home. We used the craneboard siding and I love it. I will say, if you have shrubs along your home that are small, remove what you can and set aside. I do wish that this would have been brought to my attention before work began. Some flashing had to be fixed and the electrical wire coming into my home was originally left just hanging there. The manager/overseer of the project came out twice personally to fix/address these issues and I really appreciated that. In the end, I'm very happy, but glad it's over! p.s- They tell you to remove items from your interior walls & shelves before work begins, do this! They will fall. Nothing broken, but I learned real quick I missed a few things! lol UPDATE 6-2018: after living with the job for over a year, we kept noticing little mistakes. No attention to detail. Flashing and siding not parallel, not lining up right over garage and into addition. Some sloppy work. They ruined my outdoor spigot, causing it to leak into my basement. We just replaced that too, $25 down the drain. The trim piece around it was installed OVER the screws that hold the spigot to the house (they didn't put the screws back either). So that was a fun mess to fix and replace. With the lack of attention to detail, one of their workers taking a dump in my woods (yes, he admitted it to my husband), killing my plants (they did pay for those) I just can't recommend anyone use them . I endured days of banging on my house to be home in case anything came up that might need moved (plants) or addressed (needing bathroom, spigot) but they never bothered to knock on the door read more

The entire process of working with Apco has been one disappointment after another. We had our initial appointment with Apco in July for new gutters. When we called to schedule the installation process they told us they are booked out 2 months. Frustrated but we agreed since it still wouldn't be fall by the time we got our new gutters (we have a large amount of trees and needed to install gutter guards before the leaves start falling). They called the set up installation finally in August. Didn't show. This occurred twice. They finally showed up, without notice, to do the job. They arrived, removed the old and installed the new gutters, and left without any form of communication with me before, during or after the job. None. I was inside the house the entire time. Once it rained we noticed 2 sections that were not installed properly and did not solve a very specific issue I discussed with the initial representative back in July. It is now October and I am waiting for a late Apco representative to come fix the two issues. He/she is currently 32 minutes late and I'm not holding my breath that anyone will even show up. If I'm paying anyone $1700 for a job, I expect even an ounce of professionalism, communication and timeliness. I assumed wrong with Apco. With all the projects we have planned for our house, Apco will NEVER be called again to complete them. read more

My son bought his house in the middle of December 2014. This house needed many extensive repairs. We hired APCO to do the siding, windows, and gutters. We all faced many challenges trying to figure out the best way to have them fix the many problems this house had. It is a very old house with several, not so good past home improvements and has been badly neglected for many years. Their workers were very patient with us on how we wanted things done. One instance was when the window guys were installing the windows, we did not like the way the sun porch had been done in the past and they helped us with making some changes to improve its looks. On the siding, we did not want j-channels around our windows and doors. We were very picky about details. APCO had never did a job without the channels, but they had a guy that knew how to do what we wanted and they did our job as we requested. The results were beautiful! The first four windows they did put j-channels around the bottom of the windows and covered the sill with aluminum,we did not like the look. The siding manager had them rip them out again and redo the windows, without any complaints, in order to please us. This took a lot of time on their part. The job, because it was so large took APCO over two weeks to complete. They had a house, 2 1/2 car garage, and a 20x28 foot building to completely side. They had trouble with the weather and their workers were out in 15 degree temperatures. Their siding guys even worked a couple of Saturdays to make up for time lost because of the weather problems. The sales person and all of the staff were very courteous and hardworking. We were grateful we used this company because of all the problems this house had and the fact that we needed a large enough company to handle all of the work that needed done. This was a 203k rehab loan which was included in the mortgage and we had to have a company capable of handling all of the different jobs. APCO's prices were in line or under the other two bids we had for the complete job, and the two other bids for just the windows. I found some companies were not capable of getting the quotes to you in a timely manner, which made me feel they were not organized enough to get the job done. With APCO, I had no problem getting the quotes and I felt from the start they were capable of handling the job. This was a very large job equal to having two houses done. I will also have to say the house was an ugly duckling, which they turned into a beautiful swan! I would definitely recommend this company for anyone wanting this kind of work done. From start to finish, APCO provided an excellent experience. Sales staff was timely, attentive and patient with our many questions and requests. The installation technician took his time to provide a quality installation in less than ideal weather conditions. The product itself is also lovely and has done a fantastic job of providing both security and draft protection.
