Fish & Grits Southern Style Fried Chicken Dinner

The food was absolutely delicious, seasoned to the max, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience was very cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The dishes took a little longer to come out, but the flavor more than made up for the wait. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Definitely worth coming back! TL;DR - Best meal I've had in Georgia.

Oh yeahhhhhhhhh. My bestfriend threw my 40th at Apache and everyone had a blast. As I am a self proclaimed Taco Tuesday Enthusiast, can you guess what day he threw my party on??? lol! The venue was super easy to find as it sits right on the strip. There is a paid parking lot across the street as well as there are a few spots on the street if you don't mind walking a block or so. Walking in, the ambiance is very homely. It has a cozy vibe with the dim lighting and oversized couches. The bar is vibrant and definitely an eye catcher in each of the rooms. The room you walk into has a kickback type of feel while the main room has the restaurant feel on one side and a classic mini speakeasy feel on the other side. The service itself is standard for a bar environment and the DJ was def on 1000. As I arrived hungry I was excited to order. lol. I opted to get two beef tacos and two jerk chicken tacos. Babeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. When I say yesssssssssssssss. I mean YESSSSSSSSSSS. These tacos were the bombbbbbbbbbbb. Freshly made, my tacos arrived hot and meaty. The fixings were fresh and balanced the meat to shell ratio without being too much. The flavor profiles were robust and the meat was moist. These tacos were done righttttttt and hit the spot. Now, I was told that the Taco Tuesday had a food vendor who made the food so I can't speak to the food made by the venue cooks, however, for taco Tuesday... I'll be back bi-weekly. The Vibe is a go. The Tacos are a go. The Fun is a GO!!!

The service was amazing [[HIGHLIGHT]]the music was a little loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Many idiots left while we were sitting due to, my guess is they may were thrown off by the live saxophone playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But they missed out on a 1 of a kind experience and the best food you could imagine. My daughter and I both ordered chicken & waffles, my wife ordered Hong Kong French Toast with a side of bacon. The chicken was breaded perfectly and seasoned throughout. The waffle was perfect, crunch on the outside and soft inside. My wife said her Hong Kong french toast was a combination of brownie and french toast and was amazing as was the bacon.

Apache XLR = Xtra Lame Revue My guy and I went for a night of erotic soul. The advertisement stated a BDSM demonstration that never happened (or at least not by 12:30am when we gave up and left.) The show didn't run smoothly. There was sooo much wrong. The DJ played good music but it wasn't sexy, erotic music so we never got into the "erotic soul" mood. Also, people walked in front of the stage while people were performing, and that was very distracting. Since when is walking in front of the stage okay? There were really long breaks (like 10-15 min) between acts. By the time a new act came on, they would struggle to engage the audience. That being said, there were some good poets, musicians and singers. And there were some kooks. One girl lip-synced her songs not very well and performed like she had Tourette's. The food was MID. Eat before you come. And the drinks were weak so pre-game. The menu had a notice that drinks were what they were so if you wanted something different to order a shot. A venue stating that their drinks are kool-aid is wild. The new Atlanta vibe is mediocre. Old Atlanta would never entertain such lackluster talents. And we paid $20 for parking. Never again. Never ever. At Apache on 3rd I always had a good time and loved the vibe of the crowd and the performers. But I never have to experience Apache XLR again. I loved the flowers on the ceiling though!

I was extremely excited to visit ApacheXLR because I loved the original Apache and anticipated a similar experience. I was in for a rude awakening. My sister was in town from Dallas and we were looking for a vibe like a nice jazz spot something low key, so we had 3 options on the table a hotel rooftop, Italian restaurant jazz set or Apache. It was 5 of us going so Apache won and was the location we decided on. We looked at the website it said it was $10 advanced admission(via eventbrite) or $15 cash at the door, and 3 best options for parking was in the gravel parking lot across the street, if lot is full park 1 block up or on the street. Table reservations are suggested, however not necessary and only available for purchase online. We were going to get a table of course, which was $78 and did not include admission price. Paid for the table in advance not a problem, we were so excited to get our Sunday vibe on at this point. Location check, table reserved check, cute outfits and hair done check, we was ready! Get to the location and per website we went to park in one of the 3 best parking options (per their website), which was across the street in the gravel parking lot, told it was $20 for parking, now why is that not simply stated on the website? There were 2 lots across the street the one with gravel($20) and one paved with security($10-$15). I didn't understand why paid parking wasn't mentioned at all. We paid the parking fee and just decided to let it go at this point we were going in to have a great time and wasn't going to let that little miscommunication from their website bother us. We arrived around 8:15, doors opened at 8pm and as stated on their website if you weren't there by specified time your table was subject to be given away with no refunds. We go inside and greeted promptly, then was told the entry fee was now $20. Yes, of course we asked for Management at this point and were told they weren't at the venue. Ok, let's just stop right here for a moment. We were at an crossroads moment. Do we continue or turn around? From the information you were given up to this point what would you have done in this moment? Well, we chose to stay it was JUST $5 more dollars...right? [[HIGHLIGHT]]We are seated at a booth table by the window, it was a nice space, art on the wall, great lighting, stage was in a good location as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were determined to have a great experience in spite of all the little hiccups on the venue's part. Our waitress arrives, great energy and positive disposition, she asked us for our drink order. We all asked for glasses of wine, she said we don't serve wine. Wine? Wait what? Were we being too fancy? Are you kidding me, so we should have looked at their drink menu on their website before deciding to come to this location. Honestly, who does that? Definitely looked at the food menu, didn't think about the drinks, everyone serves wine, right...wrong! Ok, we look at the drink menu and choose Lemon Drops $13 , we essentially ordered lemon water with a dash of vodka definitely a disappointment. I decided to get a cider(sold out) then chose a Miller High Life(sold out) at this point I was done. Waitress apologized and said they had a big party the night before and they were out of several items. Which is understandable. However, this whole experience was adding up to be a very unpleasant experience and we were still an hour from the show even starting. So, we were again at a crossroads moment, at this point what would you have done? Yep, you guessed it, we left. Money wasted, experience forever tarnished, and this review now written.

I was very impressed with this restaurant. We wanted to go to The Breakfast Club but they had over an hour wait and were glad we decided to give ApacheXLR a try. Everything was so good! The staff was very nice and attentive making sure we had everything we needed without being pushy. I had the French toast which was recommended by our server and it was the best french toast I've had. Not sweet but not too sweet without any syrup. Crunchy on the outside but still moist with the cream. I also got a side of potatoes which were to die for. Super crunchy and well seasoned. We're talking about coming back for breakfast tomorrow!

Me and my family visited from out of town. The vibe was okay and the server was nice. We were the only ones in there and it took us a while to get our food. The fish and grits were not good, not sure where they got the fish from but it was like frozen grocery store fish. Two of us ordered the fish and grits and we both were disgusted. I asked to change my order and was told that I couldn't, which was fine, however try to assist the customer in some kind of way. My cousin liked the avocado toast.

If you're in the Atlanta area and looking for a great spot for breakfast or lunch, I highly recommend checking out this place! My group and I stumbled upon it after a long wait at for ATL breakfast house, this was a short 4 min walk and we were pleasantly surprised with the excellent service we received. The chicken sandwich I ordered was absolutely delicious, and to top it off, there was live music to enjoy during our meal. Overall, a great experience and definitely worth a visit! read more

Went for brunch and left hungry and sick. Had to get food after. They were unprepared for our reservation, the food was not good, larva and fly cluster/swarm and all we were offered was excuses. They had weeks in advance to prepare for a large party. To say they were not prepared was an understatement. All of our party members were there and we were left waiting for 15-20 minutes until someone just so happened to ask if we were ready. We were only missing 3 or so members who were no more than 5 minutes or so late so we should have already been seated a while ago. When we got to our designated area they didn't even have the tables ready. They asked us if it was enough seats for 26 people but shouldn't they know the answer to that question? Very understaffed, only 1 person was taking orders while the other one was walking around making jokes. No real glasses for water just half sized plastic clear party cups, the water smelled like tap and heavy with chlorine. They only had 8 pieces of chicken left and no salmon croquettes. It took about an hour and a half to 2 hours for us to get food. The chicken tasted and smelled like Chinese food chicken, very gamey. The fried part was falling off the chicken and tasted like old oil. The regular pan fried salmon tasted like tap water, wet inside and the taste of old oil. The blue grits taste like nothing and were soggy despite having what looked to be a queso sauce on top. The fried bread pudding French toast tasted like old oils and was too wet inside. Most of us felt sick right after eating, I only picked at my food and had to stop as I started having vertigo and felt queasy as the food tasted off. I took my food to go and as we were leaving someone spotted white and black bugs in a cluster in the dining area a few feet away from us. Their excuse was sometimes the door gets left open and bugs come in... so this is a regular occurrence for a Larva/fly cluster to appear? I left my food in the to go box with them, paid my portion of the tab and let them know if we still had to pay for this nightmare it will also cost them as well. 10% off the whole order after not eating, feeling sick immediately and then finding a larva and black fly colony in the dining area which they already knew about? Terrible food, terrible experience, terrible excuses and terrible clientele management. They didn't seem to care NEVER coming back if I come back to Atlanta. read more

Hands down the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. And I love food. I went for brunch on a Saturday. A musician was playing the piano and sang a few songs. The service was interesting. Lots of people working but swear there was only one waiter. At least the staff was friendly. read more

I hate to do this, but I need to support my black owned businesses by giving some constructive criticism. Service was very bad. The waitress was really nice, however negligent; as she repeatedly asked what our order was and still got it wrong after waiting so long to receive it. She also left the drink I ordered out in the open and forgot to actually bring it to me. The ice melted and watered it down, but she brought me another one. I ordered the mac n cheese bites and she kept mistaking it for mushroom bites. After I corrected her twice, she still went and brought me some mushroom bites. Smh. On the plus side, she didn't charge us for the mistakes she made. It was a comedy open mic night, so I understand not to expect Kevin Hart level performances, but these people weren't funny at all. I came for the open mic night and had a great time. I'm from Atlanta and it's amazing to see how this spot has stayed relevant throughout the years. Service was great and the food came out quickly. The jerk wings were fresh off the grill and cooked to perfection. A few were a little burnt but they still tasted good. I'll definitely be back for the wings and the good vibes. Street parking is hard to find i was very lucky tonight because their lot is $20! It's in the city so it's expected. read more

I would not recommend this place. We went for brunch at around 11:00. We were told there was going to be a 30 minute wait, which we completely understood until we got to the back of the restaraunt and saw half of the tables were empty. Then someone began playing music. He was incredibly talented but It was so loud, it felt like we were in a club at midnight, and I didn't expect to have music blaring this loud in the morning. When I went to order, the music was so loud that the waitress definitely misunderstood my order, because when our food came out, I was delivered the wrong item. I completely understand mistakes, but it was the way she handled it that appalled me. When she came back, I very kindly explained what happened and she gave me attitude and insinuated that I ordered what I received (I KNOW I didn't order what was brought because I'm allergic to it). I told her I would like to place an additional order for what I originally ordered. She was rude about the entire thing and not once apologized. It came out and she silently put it in front of me, still not apologizing. I did not eat the wrong order at all and just left it on the table, untouched. Yet she STILL charged me for both items. Again, I understand mistakes and I not once blamed her or made a big deal out of it, but I didn't appreciate the way it was handled. I was excited to try the food and it was fine, but nothing special. read more

I always love chicken and biscuits and these weren't bad but kind of over priced in my opinion. It's in a kind of run down area, coffee tasted burnt, and the menu was really limited and expensive. We also had to wait a long time and weren't even given silverware until we asked for it. There's a lot nicer brunch places in the area that I would recommend checking out before coming here. This was a cute place and the food wasn't bad but wouldn't come again. read more

As time goes on things change and so goes Apache. The nights event was R&B Karaoke and the host was live and fun. The food selection was hit and miss because they were "out" of many things. For $20 at the door and a 2drink 1entree minimum to sit at a table I suggest you just sit at the bar and drink. The servers are busy and forgetful so expect to wait for whatever you order. The food they did have was a pass for me. I'll just end this by saying I miss the old Apache. I won't give up as it's a city staple but the old days have definitely passed away. read more

This place is a serious hole in the wall place. But it's beautiful, and the food is amazing! You would think oh it's nothing special, until you get directed into the main seating area -- IT IS BEAUTIFUL. The whole open concept and the art is just a whole vibe I can get hip with. Our waiter suggested the breakfast sandwich - which my husband got, and it was delicious! It's a bit on the spicy side tho. And I had gotten the Al Apache, which was a basic breakfast platter which I enjoyed. THE GRITS are really good also! Everyone is so nice, and very professional here. This place is awesome! We had the fish and grits with shrimp and the Chilaquiles. OMG! Our server was Aurora and she was beautiful and smart inside and out! This place is a whole vibe! The live music by The Human DJ made brunch perfect! Don't sleep on this place! It is worth 10 stars. read more

Don't miss out on the this place! The food was delicious (try the fried chicken plate) and the service was amazing. We ended up here after a long day of travel because it was close to the hotel. Little did we know we were in for such a treat. Bonus: they had an open mic show going on in a separate room with some incredibly talented performers which made the experience even better. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE, I HATE THIS PLACE. I went on Sunday, January 9, 2022 for Word is Born: Spit Your Verse. The host was awesome, the performances were awesome, my waitress was awesome. MY COMPLAINTS. I made a reservation and paid online for a table for 2, when I arrived at the door I was told I had to pay a $15 per person cover charge. Come on, a table should include tickets. My second complaint involves all the extra fees that were on my bill that I still haven't been able to google to find what the acronym stands for. I paid LBTDT 11.95%, GASST 8.95%, Taxes, and gratuity .18% in addition to the gratuity of 20% that I tipped my waitress. AND MY CAR WAS BROKEN INTO WHILE I WAS INSIDE. read more

Food on point. Older building loft style atmosphere; exposed brick and a bandstand. There is live Music on Thursday thru Sunday. Not sure if there is a cover of your eating at the restaurant but I believe this place is pretty good for a date night option. Aquarium Coca Cola and Center for Civil & Human Rights w/ paid parking steps away. read more

Great food, we had the salmon Mac n cheese, avocado toast and spicy chicken sandwich. The service was terrible, everyone got their food at different times, I received my meal incomplete and when asked where the potatoes were they said "they will be right out" 10 minutes later I had to ask again for the potatoes. The waiters did not seem excited to be there nor did they have any urgency in getting your food. There was also a singer "Sage" who I'm sure had a beautiful voice but the sound system just kept echoing. read more

We went for brunch! I know a lot of people say this but we were looking to go to the Atlanta breakfast club, but when their wait time wouldn't have us seated until 5pm we decided to go here. I got the Hong Kong style French toast, and it was easily one of the BEST french toasts I've ever had. It was deep fried brioche which made it crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I didn't even add any syrup for a little while and enjoyed the flavors as they came with some of the fruit on the plate. At first I was like $13 for French toast? Okay... then I was like ONLY $13 for this French toast??!! My boyfriend got the Salmon Mac & cheese which he very graciously let me have a few bites of. You're probably scrolling through these reviews like I did reading a lot of "best I've ever had" but this salmon was legitimately the most delicious, flavorful, juicy salmon that I have ever put in my mouth. The Mac and cheese was a very nice complement to the salmon, but also very tasty in itself! It was very cheesy and soft and there was not one bad piece in the skillet. Our waitress was very kind and when we were seated she immediately had waters for us and made sure we weren't already to order since we had been looking at the menu while we waited. Having to stand there while the customer is tipping isn't really a fair approach, but we were happy with everything and left about a 30% tip anyways. I would have loved to be there while the music was playing! Lastly if there was one thing that could use some improvement: While we were waiting for a table we asked for a menu and we were given a small barcode to open the menu up online. Our little laminated barcode had some kind of gunk all over it and when it got on my fingers there wasn't even any napkins for me to wipe my hands on. Very unusual situation with this restaurant. I arrived there at the reservation time and no one was at the hostess desk for a bit so I went to the restroom and when I came back in about less than 10 minutes I was told that I had missed my reservation and they couldn't seat my party of 2. Apparently there was only one server working for the entire restaurant that day. I understand the situation with shortage of staff right now so we asked if we could be put back on the list to wait again. We waited for about 20 minutes and thankfully after that we were able to sit and order. The food came out really fast and it was tasteful. We also had an opportunity to meet the owner. You may want to call first, because the tables usually go fast. If you get there early you can get a table of 4, and I don't think there is a minimum. I've never had to pay a minimum and I've been going there over 5 years now.

The only "complaint" one of my friends had was that she thought there was a little too much sauce in her shrimp and grits dish. She felt that the sauce, while it tasted great, overpowered the dish and she would've liked to taste more of the grits flavor. All in all, I'd say we'll likely be back to try something else on the menu.

I watched one table become visibly irritated, while another guest stopped a server to ask if the food being carried out was theirs because they had apparently been waiting over an hour. The fried green tomatoes and sweet heat wings were really good, and I started to rethink my initial assessment of the restaurant. Everything went downhill from there. My "Rich Boy" sandwich itself was good, but it came with completely unseasoned fries. When I mentioned that I was supposed to have the "Rolex" fries, the server told me the plain fries were what I got. After clarifying with another server, they brought out the actual "Rolex" fries, which appeared to just be fries with a little parmesan and parsley on top. Supposedly they were truffle fries, but there wasn't even a hint of truffle flavor. My partner ordered the veggie sausage, which was overcooked and dry. Their eggs came out over easy instead of over medium, and the "signature grits" were more like cream cheese with a little bit of grits mixed in. We were told more grits would be brought out, but they never came. Another person in my party ordered the Southern seafood pasta, which had literally one piece of spinach in it. When she asked about it, the server responded that there was "more spinach coming." At that point, it became clear that Barney's is selling the illusion of luxury in order to justify premium prices for subpar food and service. It really was a TikTok trap after all. To make matters worse, when the check came, we were charged an additional $1.50 for eggs that already came with the meal. The explanation was that the eggs "came from the shell." Others in my party were also charged extra for liquor on top of the listed menu price for their drinks. Overall, I absolutely did not enjoy my experience here, and I will not be returning. Oh, and that other party that was visibly irritated with the wait had to wait even longer because there was a hair in their food.

My roommate and I attended the Open Mic Poetry night on Sun., Dec. 1. We arrived promptly at 7. The $7 cover charge was not too bad, but they only take cash at the door. We tried to park in the adjacent pay-to-park lot, but a dude (carrying a large hedge-trimmer, randomly enough) ran after us, waving a large hedge-trimmer. He then asked us not to park there and that parking in the alleyway was free on Sundays. A slightly frightening interaction, but helpful nonetheless. Unfortunately, the poetry did not start until 9:30 (2.5 hours after we had arrived). Most people ate dinner there. We were first-timers, so we thought it was more of a bar than a restaurant. The plantains were great, though, and reasonably priced, too! The fries, however, sucked. Tasted like frozen dollar store fare. We tried to order hummus but they were out. Sad. The lady next to us said it's her favorite appetizer there. The poetry was enjoyable. Some acts were good; others not so good. Such is the nature of Open Mic night, I suppose. It seems like most of the speakers were regulars though. The restroom situation was interesting---NOT in a good way. 3 single, dirty stalls for the whole place. So, plan your lavatory stops in advance (for girls, anyway. There was never a line in front of the men's stall. haha) and bring hand sanitizer. Also, there was a manually rotating art display during the poetry recitations, which was cool. I wish they had told us more about the artist(s), though. Apache in Atlanta delivered a memorable dining experience with a cool vibe and incredible talent all around. I ordered the fried pork chops with spinach and mashed potatoes, and let me tell you--the chops were seasoned to absolute perfection. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The mashed potatoes, although unfortunately cold, still had good flavor. The spinach balanced the dish nicely. Drinks were solid, though it did take a while--nearly 30 minutes--for my Red Bull to arrive. Service overall was just okay, but not a deal breaker. The atmosphere more than made up for it, with great live entertainment and a chill energy that's hard to find elsewhere. They also offer a military discount, which I greatly appreciate and salute. One suggestion: the seating could be more comfortable, but that could just be my body talking. Overall, I'll definitely be back. Apache gets my respect for flavor, vibe, and honoring service members. We stumbled upon this place for brunch when the popular place down the street had a two hour wait. And we are SO happy we did. This is a unique spot with a beautiful wall mural and chandeliers in the dining area with tons of natural light. I would recommend sitting here and not in the bar area/ Perfect brunch vibes. I ordered the chicken and waffles and they were phenomenal. The waffles were crispy enough on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Apache used to be a staple in Atalanta, now it's a gimmick. Don't come expecting the artistry of Old atl. It's just about money. Cover charge, plus money to sing up for what is supposedly called "open mic". Why I'm the world would anyone pay $50 just to preform at an open mic night event. Honestly this place is disrespectful to the original Apache and should change its name. Apache used to be a place to catch a vibe now mostly it's trap and rap hasn't been a vibe the whole night. My girlfriend and I went there just to order some jerk wings, and we were told that we had to pay a 7.00 cover charge each even tho we didn't want to go pass the entrance. Then the bartender had a nasty attitude and told me I couldn't order flats only, which is a lie because I've ordered flats only before. I was just given a bad vibe from them both.. It was Art Mondays 10/27/14 and honestly if the lady wasn't so rude at the door, we may have stayed. As a place of business, you can't treat people a certain way. The Bar Exam goes down tonight and every 3rd or 4th Friday at Apache Cafe. The Bar Exam is Atlanta's definitive open-mic, talent competition and showcase I host events regularly at Apache Cafe (The Bar Exam, Sound & Lyrics) and what i love most about Apache is the diversity of people that attend the events and the positive and enthusiastic energy that i get from the artist i meet. If you are looking for a more mature crowd don't go during open mic Thursday. I wasn't in there five minutes and some young guy got mad because I spoke to his girlfriend. Unfortunately, a recent experience has led my husband and I to decide we will no longer spend another dollar here, personally or for business. While sitting on the bar side, minding my own business, I was repeatedly harassed by a visibly intoxicated woman who deliberately sat next to me to start trouble. She stared at me continuously, and made unsolicited, offensive assumptions about my marriage. My husband was sitting to my left, completely unaware of what was transpiring as he was listening to some music through his Meta glasses. I initially ignored the woman's behavior and tried to laugh it off because I simply came to eat in peace. However, the situation escalated when she began directing inappropriate questions toward my husband and attempting to provoke him. Despite her continued escalation, other patrons jumped in to defend her and one even threatened my husband, portraying her as the victim. When we attempted to explain the situation to Jason (who I believe is the bar manager), rather than hearing us out, we were told the police were being called on us. We were not the aggressors and did nothing wrong. It was deeply frustrating to be dismissed and treated as though we were at fault when we were only defending ourselves. What makes this experience especially upsetting is that we have always been respectful, trouble-free patrons for 13 years! The bar staff that evening was dismissive and, at times, rude. There was no apparent effort to address how this intoxicated individual was disrupting the environment, continuing to insult my husband, and repeatedly putting her hand in his face to provoke him. To my knowledge, she was never asked to leave nor threatened with police involvement. She left only when she chose to. Only the server who brought out our food showed any level of concern or professionalism. The bartenders and another staff member in the back (a bald person, don't know their role) made it clear we were not welcome and ultimately called the police. We are owed an apology. While I don't expect one, I'm leaving this review to warn other customers (especially people of color) to be mindful of how quickly a place you've supported for years can turn on you and how we're quickly seen as the problem just because we get loud when we've been disrespected. I would strongly advise going to another place in the neighborhood like The Beverly if you want to avoid situations like the one we experienced. After more than a decade of loyal support, we understand the value we bring as customers and as people. Respect should never be conditional or situational. When a business fails to protect that basic standard, it's our responsibility to set boundaries and take our patronage where it's valued.

When I asked about returning it, I was told they don't accept drink returns. Thankfully, the bartender was very understanding, professional, and accommodating. She made me another drink without any issues, and I really appreciated her customer service. The bigger issue was with my food. I originally ordered a shrimp Caesar salad but changed it to chicken before it was made. Despite changing my order, the salad still came out with shrimp. Instead of immediately complaining, I decided to give it a chance. I took one bite and simply did not like it. Whether it had shrimp or chicken, the salad just wasn't good in my opinion. I politely told the bartender I wasn't comfortable paying almost $40 for a salad I wasn't going to eat. She explained the restaurant has a strict no-return policy, so I asked to speak with a manager. I made it clear that I wasn't trying to be difficult--I just didn't think it was fair to pay for a salad that was made incorrectly and that I couldn't eat. The manager came over and, instead of trying to resolve the situation, immediately focused on the restaurant's policy. At one point she said, "So you want the restaurant to take an L because you don't like something?" I responded, "Well, I'm not going to take an L either. Are you really saying the restaurant is taking an L over one salad? Look around--there are plenty of people in here. You're telling me the restaurant would take a loss over removing one salad that was made incorrectly and that I didn't like?" I found the manager's tone to be dismissive, unprofessional, and unnecessarily confrontational instead of trying to find a reasonable solution. She said she would call the owner. About 10 minutes later she returned and told me both the owner and chef refused to remove the salad from the bill. When I asked what the resolution was supposed to be, since I wasn't willing to pay for a salad I didn't eat, she told the bartender to close me out for my drinks and told me I had to leave. In the end, I paid my bill anyway because I didn't want the bartender getting caught in the middle or getting into trouble over something that wasn't her fault. I also still tipped her because she was the only person who treated me with kindness and professionalism throughout the entire experience. One of the most disappointing parts of this experience is that, as a Black woman, I genuinely enjoy supporting Black-owned businesses. I intentionally spend my money with businesses in my community because I want to see them succeed. That's what made this experience so disheartening. Instead of feeling valued as a customer, I left feeling dismissed and unwelcome. I came in hoping to support the business, but I walked away feeling like I got a slap in the face. Mistakes happen at every restaurant. What separates a good restaurant from a bad one is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, management chose policy over customer service. The bartender was excellent, but the way management handled this situation ensured I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone.
