Aoki Teppanyaki - The food was bullshit. I will never eat. Here again - Sushi Bars Near Me - Miami, Florida

Food; decent, I will return Service; very good Ambiance; interesting and unique I sat at the sushi bar for lunch with my granddaughter. We enjoyed our time. We complimented the food as it came out. The presentation is very nice. The Chris's behind preparing the meals were upbeat and funny! We were labeled the "Salmon Queens" lol. We both had a nice lunch and we will return.. read more

Lol I just tried ordering food from here. Don't bother. Just walk in. Delivery had literally no support. The food is good. Like really good. But I just tried to order delivery and the resturant took 30 mins without confirming my order so I thought. Hmm. Maybe I should call. Got put on hold for 10 mins or so before they hung up. Decided to wait a bit before calling back. Only to have them straight click on my face I mean if your busy your busy I understand but it literally takes less than a minute to let me know they couldn't make it happen. I waited so long I ended up having my order cancelled and refunded without even asking for it. . Used the money to buy from earls next door. Great experience go there instead. read more

Aoki Teppanyaki - The chef cooking - Sushi Bars Near Me - Miami, Florida

We went to the Teppanyaki service at the lunch time hour, however if you order a glass of wine you're charged $12 per glass. In the izakaya menu it's only $6 per glass. Here you are in the same restaurant and you get charged double. What a ripoff! Service was very slow as well. It took 40 minutes just to get our drinks from the time we ordered them. Also they store a broom and mop Bucket right in the aisle where it's visible to the customer. They're is no custodial Closet to store that away from customers view? Restaurant seemed very unorganized. Food was okay and portions were small. We ordered the salmon and shrimp and salmon was very small. Do not recommend unless you want to pay for an overpriced meal with substandard service. read more

Since this restaurant models Kevin Aoki's fathers, Benihana, it should definitely live up to the same standards or maybe even excel over them. We took the drive from Miami Beach and went on a weekday to try their Wagyu beef; my friend and I were super stoked to give it a try since there's nothing like it. If you've never tried Japanese Wagyu beef...you have no idea what you're missing! We ordered 2 of them @ $42.00 each plus a filet mignon a la carte $19.00. 20 minutes or so, the server approached us and informed us that they were 86...basically sold out or that they didn't have any left for whatever reason. We were left with ordering something else so I went with a center cut filet and my friend, a NY Strip. 4/5 Sushi Entree $23.50 came with 8 different sushi nigiri. The fish was fresh but I wasn't thrilled with the 8 choices. The night before we had the same dish at Doraku for $1 cheaper but it was so much better with better cuts of fish. We were hoping it was the same or better and it wasn't; the rice used was also better at Doraku. 5/5 Center Cut Mignon $33.50 cane in rare and perfect. The quality of beef used was excellent and as tender melt in your mouth as can be. The dinner came with choice of soup or salad and fried rice. I opted for check fried rice and it added $1.50 to the meal. It also came with grilled mushrooms as well as vegetables that consisted of yam, onions, and squash. 5/5 NY Strip $24.50 was thoroughly enjoyed by my friend. It was also cooked rare and the quality was decent, not as soft as the filet but that's to be expected. I tried a piece and can tell you the filet was so much better: sure it's more money but if you're going out to eat somewhere, that shouldn't deter you from ordering something better. Since my friend and I were already splitting a filet, he wanted something different. 5/5 Service was great...our waitress made sure my water was always filled and made sure we were happy with the food. We were so stuffed so dessert was a pass; there also wasn't anything too exciting to choose other than your usual brownie or cheesecake tempura etc. Overall a nice experience and good food. Just wish they had the Wagyu beef but I'll certainly call before heading out next time. read more

It amazes me on how the service here just gets worse! . I wish I could give them 0 stars. The servers never check in on you, don't refill your glasses of water. If you ask for something, like a fork - if you do get it, it will be at the end of your meal. Eat anywhere else besides here read more

Richard is an amazing server. He is wonderful at recommending and making us aware of awards program. Very attentive, a lost art with most servers these days. Made our dinning experience wonderful. Food is also excellent. Have been here two other times. Have had the bento box which is a wonderful sampling. In addition came for my husbands office luncheon when we had the hiabachi which was every bit as good as Samari with out the WAIT. Great dining experience. read more

Hadn't been here in a really long time and really glad I had the itch. Nicole and Nelson were both amazing. They are taking precautions and not sitting multiple parties together. Three of us had our own Teppanyaki table and were able to enjoy our meal. The crispy pig ears were always one of favorites along with miso eggplant and triggerfish jerky which they no longer have. This time the ears weren't as crispy as usual but still yummy. read more

TLDR - Skip the food court and come to Aoki for lunch Aoki has a lunch special that is very tough to beat. Fried rice, veggies, soup or salad, and an entree (steak, shrimp, chicken, salmon, combinations of 2) is made to order on a teppanyaki table right in front of you by a chef who delivers unique cooking flair with each dining experience. It's a great place to stop in the mall, so avoid the temptation of free chicken samples in the food court and save stomach space for Aoki. Protip: It's a couple extra bucks, but if you're hungry, definitely go for the combo lunch and choose 2 meats. read more

The food was good but was disappointed with the wagyu beef. It didn't have the distinct melt in your mouth taste that wagyu beef is supposed to have, it tasted like any regular steak. The chef was funny and entertaining, but the waitress was terrible. She rarely showed up to the table to ask if we needed more water or to take our plates. When she brought us our check and took our card she went to the register and left our card unattended. She had went into the kitchen and left our card at the register where anyone could've taken it. The only good thing was our chef and the wonderful food he had cooked for us. read more

I feel like the original intention for this Japanese restaurant was quite grand like the DJ who shares the same name. I miss eating out I'm craving all of this right now and I wanted to share this. First of all this is a really nice place to go with friends, partner, family or even by yourself. It's beautiful it has an outside, inside and a patio. The food was really great. The crispy pork ears are firewith their aioli sauce and their sushi its really good. But my favorite place was the Inaka Shrimp Fried rice it has a good texture and the fried egg makes the rice to have a mixed flavor. I gave them a four because I had to wait a longer time for my food to come out after my sister was done eating like 5-10min later was when my food came out. read more

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. Originally was going to a different place but the wait was too long. We decided to eat here since the wait was much less on a Sunday afternoon. They were very friendly and accommodating , we were 6 adults and 2 children; a short wait and they cleaned the tables quickly for us. The service was very good. The menu has a large variety and I found the prices to be very reasonable. The food wast great! I really recommend this place and will definitely be back. read more

Cockroach came crawling out of the section of the grill that, you can see in the photos, has never been cleaned since this placed opened. Our server and chef, Luis, were both great and very nice, however, we were told that the manager said that nothing could be done about the roach or the grill. No complaints about the food, though- very tasty. But hard to give anything but the lowest stars when a roach comes out of where your food is coming from and management does nothing to apologize or fix the situation. Always used to recommend this place to friends but never again. read more

Walked in - no wait on a Saturday around 2:30 PM. The restaurant was not busy! They walked us in to our hibachi table. We were 4 in our group and they left the 2 seats empty. They brought over their normal paper bag menus. I asked what they did with them after and she said they threw them away. They should go with barcode menu. The waitress brought our salads the portions were very small compared to the usual lunch portion but it was crisp, fresh and tasty. Pierre was our chef, he came to us within 15 minutes. He was friendly, and prepared our food amazing! We ordered, chicken fish and filet with a side of noodles and mushroom. read more

Update: sad to say my favorite items were not on the menu last time I went by and the service was non existent. I went to the hostess and requested a table for two when a waitress behind the counter came by and said to him quite loudly "tell them they can sit but I'm not taking care of them for 20 minutes" and walked away. I'm sure there are nicer ways to say they are backed up and it'll be some time before they take care of me but she decided to be rude to her coworker and myself in the process. I told the hostess it would be alright as I wasn't in a hurry and the good food makes up for a one time rude waitress. I then took a menu and had some questions about it since I couldn't find what I wanted. The hostess who might I add was very nice could not answer my questions so I looked up my previous review to show him the pictures; he said he didn't know if they had them but that they had changed the menu recently. I decided to eat somewhere else instead after this. The menu still looked good but walking in to the rudeness was not a good experience and I wasn't going to wait around another 15 minutes for the waiter to come by and another 20 for the food to find out if the new menu was any good. read more

Ngl, I've always been kind of intimidated about trying Aoki Teppanyaki. I mean... It's a nice looking hibachi restaurant and is owned by the Aoki family. However, it was pretty chill and I'm glad I decided to stop in for lunch. I was really intrigued with the menu because it's printed on a brown paper sack. Awesome small detail that grabs people's attention! Since it was lunch, I ordered the Maki Trio which comes with a soup or salad and three rolls: the tuna, Philly, and California. Important to note that although both the physical and online menus say it comes with a soup AND salad, it's one or the other. We were disappointed when our waiter came back and told us it was either or. No biggie though! Very filling and fresh, I can't wait to go back again and try some other things. read more

After ten minutes at the teppan table, a server came and took our order. At 17 minutes, water arrived. Did they walk to the store to buy the water? Geez. And sake? It is already made. You bring the dang bottle. What takes so long here? Are they still growing the lettuce for the salad? Fermenting the sake? Only time will tell - and they think we have all the time in the world; the staff is in nooo hurry. Broken teppan table. No sealant or insulation. SUPER hot air and *sniff* and gas. The more I look around the more I realize that this place needs maintenance. At 23 minutes, sake bottle arrives. At 25 minutes, sake CUPS arrive. at 29 minutes, teppan chef arrives. At 34 minutes the salad arrives. Yay I have 2 minutes to eat the salad and get to the rice. This place is past its prime. A sad time indeed. Note: the "covid" excuse is not valid. If they want to claim insufficient staff, then seat fewer customers. If they want to claim - well, it does not matter what the excuse is. The service was bad. Don't go and pay for bad service. The only highlight was the teppan chef. It is always fun to watch the show. The flavor was below their usual service. read more

Was in a sushi mood at dadeland mall and always love coming here! Options options! I feel like anything I've tried is delicious which keeps me coming back! This artful craft of sushi roll is their Aoki Yakiniku roll: shrimp tempura, asparagus, and cream cheese topped with seared steak, spicy aioli and eel sauce! . Salmon and ikura donburi: fresh salmon and massive roe sashimi laid on top perfectly with the avocado and nori (made my day)! I was trying to decide what to eat when I was in Dadeland. I saw this restaurant upstairs and I read the menu and it seemed very tempting, so we tried it. First I have to start with the look of the restaurant. It's sooo cool, beautiful, sophisticated. I love the fact that you can choose from 4 areas to seat down. Either inside with the chef that cooks for you on the table, inside in a regular table, the sushi bar area, or the patio which is a rooftop patio. We decided the patio, so beautiful and chill. The menu seem super yummy, I ordered the coconut tempura sushi roll, fried pig's ears, and my sister ordered the special fried rice bowl with chicken and shrimps. The food was sooooo delicious. I was so tempted to order another sushi roll because it was so good. Everything was great. The only thing was that it took kind of long and they took my sushi first and my sister was waiting for her food a long time. I even finished my roll and she still didn't get her rice. Checked this place out last Friday night and it did not disappoint! I met a girlfriend here for dinner, both being our first time, and we were very impressed. We were immediately seated and greeted by our server. After looking through the menu, we both decided to share an order of Edamame, and each ordered the Coconut Shrimp roll. I also tried a Passion Fruit Mojito. Our food was out within 10 minutes and we were very content. The passion fruit mojito was sweet yet subtly strong! The edamame was perfectly cooked, and the Coconut Shrimp rolls were huge and delicious. They were filled with flavor. We were both very happy with out choice! The restaurant is located on the top floor of Dadeland Mall next to Earls Kitchen. They offer both indoor and patio seating. Be mindful though that their patio is still inside the mall. The restaurant was very clean, and had a lovely appearance. I would definitely return again, and recommend them to anyone looking for a good sushi roll. read more

Back in December 2015, I wanted to desperately go to Samurai for my birthday. I don't remember why exactly I didn't, but I do believe it was a week night and the waiting would've been impossible, so consequently Aoki happened. At any rate, I finally went back to Aoki and here are my two cents. If you're into chic décor, no wait times, and decent food, ding ding ding. WE HAVE A WINNER! Oh and the biggest ginger salad you've ever had in your life, plus some new tricks on the teppanyaki grill. That being said, my friend and I went there last week. He, being the sweet person that he is, made reservations, and well, I was surprised to learn that this restaurant even took reservations. Honestly speaking, when we arrived, it was one of those questions of were reservations really necessary? We were sat relatively quickly. Both the waitress and the chef were quite attentive. Heck, the chef did some tricks that I hadn't seen before. I'll definitely say that it was one of the more entertaining shows I've seen in quite some time and I love these teppanyaki places. Bluntly speaking, if tomorrow I were to die, this type of meal would be my last supper. My friend ordered some sushi, which I cannot comment on as I didn't taste it. He also ordered a chicken and steak combination platter, which included ginger salad, and goodness I lucked out. I got to eat that salad and his leftovers, haha. The perks of going out to eat with a picky eater. Anyhow, I also ordered the chicken and steak combination platter. I do believe the only difference in our combination platters was how the steaks were cooked. He chose medium, I chose well done. Both were delicious. For all of this though, I must say that while I may have had a great experience there, this is not my preferred teppanyaki restaurant unless I'm in a rush. The food is good but not great, and well, I honestly find it expensive for what you're getting. Go to Benihana and/or Samurai and you'll also get a soup and some hot tea; oh, and if you want ice cream, Samurai doesn't include it, but Benihana sure does. Needless to say, I like you, Aoki, but I do not love you. I will happily continue to see other teppanyaki locations and only go to you when I need a back-up. Yes, I'm a total heartbreaker, I know. read more

I've been here twice, several years apart. Both times were very disappointing. I don't recall the first time too much but remembered not wanting to go back. Eventually I decided to give it another chance and I ordered an avocado salad for lunch. I was with a group of 4 others and they all got their food before mine. I have been a few times to Aoki after shopping at Dadeland and have never had a bad experience. Based on all my experiences Aoki is a 4-star rating for me. Everytime I have been in I have always ordered sushi and fried rice. I have only ordered the traditional maki rolls. The spicy tuna is my favorite. It is fresh with just the right amount of kick. They have good salmon as well. Last time I was in I thought the yellowtail was just average. Aoki also offers the Japanese BBQ tables if you are into that. My kids are always down for that. The decor is Asian themed (of course) and the restaurant is bigger than you think. I have always eaten in the bar area or outside. On all of my visits, the service has always been better than average. It has always been busy but I have never not been able to get a table with no wait when I have gone here. Thumbs up Aoki.
