I really enjoy this restaurant for the food and happy hour. Have been here for several different occasions. Birthdays, happy hours, family night. The hibachi dinner spectacle is great. The kids liked it, the food was delicious and the chef was exceptional. I've frequented the place often so I have gotten to know a few of the staff members. I just got out of this restaurant. This is the worse Japanese restaurant that I've been to. First the table did not have soy sauce, ginger, wasabi, so I had to ask for each one of them. Then the shrimp and vegetable tempura did not come with the shrimp tempura, so I had to ask for it. Then the tempura did not come with the tempura sauce so I had to ask for it. Then the sweet potato tempura, the sweet potato was undercooked. They came trying to take away the salad bowl when I was still working on it. The worse Japanese restaurant ever. read more

This was my first time visiting Aoki and we came with a party of ten here were my pros /cons: Pros: our chef was very kind and accommodating. We had decent service and the restaurant is very nice inside. I appreciated the kids menu and overall the food tasted great. Cons: unfortunately I didn't keep the food down for long as I have a shellfish allergy which I notified the chef and staff of but something was definitely contaminated so I was sick and vomiting immediately after. This place gets very pricey very quick so be aware of cost when ordering. They're also not stroller friendly - I basically had to shove my kids in a corner to get everyone to fit. This place is definitely a great spot for dinner. I've been here plenty of times and usually order the fried rice which tasted phenomenal! The drinks are really good too. Great food. The chef sampler is definitely a must-order. The fish is very fresh and the rolls have nice portions where you aren't overwhelmed by the rice. Rice is important for sushi, and this place makes the cut. We enjoyed the lunch specialty items including the Coconut Shrimp, Aoki Trio Roll, and the Bento Box with salmon. Excellent quality, well-priced, and great atmosphere from Chris especially. Visited here on a Saturday night around 7pm. Surprisingly there was no wait to be seated; however there was quite a wait for a chef, at least 40 mins. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the tempura shrimp for starters. Full of flavor but they were super tiny (reminded me of bagged shrimp). The quantity they provided was sufficient for an app. For main course I got the shrimp and NY strip steak combo and a free Lychee martini once you sign up for the app. The martini was pretty strong. We went to celebrate a birthday. Our server sat us as soon as the whole party was there. Once we sat down, our server offered water and took our drink order. I had the lychee martini and it was delicious. We did not order any appetizers because we knew that the entrees would be big. Then, our cook came and double checked our orders. He was funny, attentive and very courteous. The ambiance was very energetic and fun. Our cook was great! He cooked everything to perfection. No so good of an experience this weekend at Aoki. We had table reservations for my daughters bday at 8:15pm we arrived a little later and the manager was kind enough to accommodate us even tho I was late. Once we sat down our waiter took a long time to come take our drink orders. She also looked a little agitated and did not have the best of attitudes. I ordered an Old Fashioned that looked amazing in the picture on the menu. My wife ordered a lychee martini. Once the drinks finally arrived Emmy old fashioned looked more like whiskey with a splash of grenadine, nothing at all like the picture or the ingredients described in the menu. My wife's lychee martini did not look to appealing either. Both drinks tasted horrible. We had to return the drinks and order soda. When we ordered our food my wife ordered for me and she ordered two of the same dish, one for me and one for her, we also ordered for our children. When the salads came I was missing mine when we asked the waiter where was mine she said I was not eating that I did not order food. My wife explained that we had ordered two of the same dish, at that time the waiter began to argue that my wife did not order two, When she clearly did, the waiters attitude was very rude even rolling her eyes. Our chef finally came to the table and I just say he was great! Nelson had a great attitude and was very informative! I have been to Aoki before when they first opened and had a great time but unfortunately things have changed they are definitely not the same. I was warned by a friend not to go there but I didn't listen and went anyway. I should have listened. Food was not that great and the the drinks are definitely not good at all. We went to the Teppanyaki service at the lunch time hour, however if you order a glass of wine you're charged $12 per glass. In the izakaya menu it's only $6 per glass. Here you are in the same restaurant and you get charged double. What a ripoff! Service was very slow as well. It took 40 minutes just to get our drinks from the time we ordered them. Also they store a broom and mop Bucket right in the aisle where it's visible to the customer. They're is no custodial Closet to store that away from customers view? Since this restaurant models Kevin Aoki's fathers, Benihana, it should definitely live up to the same standards or maybe even excel over them. We took the drive from Miami Beach and went on a weekday to try their Wagyu beef; my friend and I were super stoked to give it a try since there's nothing like it. If you've never tried Japanese Wagyu beef...you have no idea what you're missing! We ordered 2 of them @ $42.00 each plus a filet mignon a la carte $19.00. 20 minutes or so, the server approached us and informed us that they were 86...basically sold out or that they didn't have any left for whatever reason. We were left with ordering something else so I went with a center cut filet and my friend, a NY Strip. 4/5 Sushi Entree $23.50 came with 8 different sushi nigiri. The fish was fresh but I wasn't thrilled with the 8 choices. The night before we had the same dish at Doraku for $1 cheaper but it was so much better with better cuts of fish. We were hoping it was the same or better and it wasn't; the rice used was also better at Doraku. 5/5 Center Cut Mignon $33.50 cane in rare and perfect. The quality of beef used was excellent and as tender melt in your mouth as can be. The dinner came with choice of soup or salad and fried rice. I opted for check fried rice and it added $1.50 to the meal. It also came with grilled mushrooms as well as vegetables that consisted of yam, onions, and squash. 5/5 NY Strip $24.50 was thoroughly enjoyed by my friend. It was also cooked rare and the quality was decent, not as soft as the filet but that's to be expected. I tried a piece and can tell you the filet was so much better: sure it's more money but if you're going out to eat somewhere, that shouldn't deter you from ordering something better. Since my friend and I were already splitting a filet, he wanted something different. 5/5 Service was great...our waitress made sure my water was always filled and made sure we were happy with the food. We were so stuffed so dessert was a pass; there also wasn't anything too exciting to choose other than your usual brownie or cheesecake tempura etc. Overall a nice experience and good food. Just wish they had the Wagyu beef but I'll certainly call before heading out next time. read more

Cockroach came crawling out of the section of the grill that, you can see in the photos, has never been cleaned since this placed opened. Our server and chef, Luis, were both great and very nice, however, we were told that the manager said that nothing could be done about the roach or the grill. No complaints about the food, though- very tasty. But hard to give anything but the lowest stars when a roach comes out of where your food is coming from and management does nothing to apologize or fix the situation. Hadn't been here in a really long time and really glad I had the itch. Nicole and Nelson were both amazing. They are taking precautions and not sitting multiple parties together. Three of us had our own Teppanyaki table and were able to enjoy our meal. The crispy pig ears were always one of favorites along with miso eggplant and triggerfish jerky which they no longer have. Fried rice, veggies, soup or salad, and an entree (steak, shrimp, chicken, salmon, combinations of 2) is made to order on a teppanyaki table right in front of you by a chef who delivers unique cooking flair with each dining experience. It's a great place to stop in the mall, so avoid the temptation of free chicken samples in the food court and save stomach space for Aoki. The food was good but was disappointed with the wagyu beef. It didn't have the distinct melt in your mouth taste that wagyu beef is supposed to have, it tasted like any regular steak. The chef was funny and entertaining, but the waitress was terrible. She rarely showed up to the table to ask if we needed more water or to take our plates. When she brought us our check and took our card she went to the register and left our card unattended. She had went into the kitchen and left our card at the register where anyone could've taken it.
