I love the outside seating area ! The view of the "beach" and cold breeze....ahhhh refreshing. I seldom go to places that are overly commercialized and a friend insisted that lunch ..happen here. I ordered some fish nacho / thing and ....it was JUST OK, a bit bland and lacked ....everything good. it was a subpar experience and the view and company was what made the visit grand. Where to start.. I've been coming here for 10+ years with my family, at first on a weekly/bi-weekly basis, although that has slowed to once every few months as we all get busier. But throughout our long relationship with the Beach Cafe, everything has always been stellar. There will most likely always be a wait, but it's an enjoyable, well worth it wait, as the giant swordfish looks down from the wall, and there are sand pits outside for little ones (and big ones) to play in. Cleanliness as never been an issue; tables, chairs and bathrooms have always been sparkling. Everyone is always extremely nice, and very helpful. No attitudes here! The breadsticks that greet you at the table are amazing, they have some sort of oregano seasoning on super soft, warm bread. Even if you don't like seafood, you will find something good here. I'm definitely not a big seafood fan, but I definitely do enjoy their clam chowder and taking nibbles of my family's dinner as well. They serve all kinds of burgers and salads that you can get with or without seafood (salmon burger, chicken burger, beef burger, etc). Personally, I get the chicken tacos with fries, and it's one of my favorite meals anywhere. Brother gets the fish and chips or the shrimp and chips and is never disappointed (this kid is a fish and chips connoiseur). I like that their desserts and drinks are seasonally based, so what they are serving at the time is very fresh and delicious. Especially now, their strawberry desserts (strawberry cheesecake) and drinks (strawberry lemonade) are deee-licous! I definitely prefer this to the Anthony's restaurant upstairs from the Beach Cafe, they definitely have more variety and are much cheaper! Although my boyfriend and I have noticed a price increase (upwards of $2 a plate, seafood more), but that won't deter us from coming! I haven't found another place that has quite the same food as the Beach Cafe. Oh, and sure its loud and kind of small, but it really isn't a bother at all, I much prefer that to a quiet, uncomfortable ambience. We have been eating here over the past few months as the kids are playing jazz outside for the summer. Anthony's has supported them along with the Port of Edmonds in giving them a chance to play, earn some $$$ and eat great food so of course that rates them in my book already. From the paid side, the service is always quick and the food is great. I had their Seafood pasta last night which was a-ok. Their salads with salmon or steak are great and their rice bowls with prawns look good. read more

I've eaten here probably half-a-dozen times and have never had a bad meal. If you don't like noisy, crowded restaurants, go at an off-time (like mid-afternoon on a weekday). It DOES get noisy in the place. That's the only reason I can't give it 5 stars. Chaos does not make for good dining. But good food does! I always get the mussels appetizer with the bread and I recommend you do the same, no matter what you choose for an entree. Thus far my favorite entree is the fish taco. The seasonal desserts are sensational and huge (the cobblers easily serve 2 people, so order one with 2 spoons). Good atmosphere - particular if you're lucky enough to go on a warm, sunny day. My wife, 8 year old daughter and I came here for lunch this memorial day. When we were seated we weren't given a child's menu (and we certainly weren't going to buy $17 adult fish and chips for our child). When we asked if they had a child's menu, the waitress just said "Yes......" while standing there staring at us like we asked her what the square root of 492 was. My wife then asked, "Can we have one please?" and the waitress responded "Uhhhhh....yeah....sure..." The appetizer plates were dirty, greasy with some greasy black substance on all three of them. The waitress came back with the child's menu at which time we were ready to order. When I order a Coke/Pepsi with my meal I always order it with 2 lemons. When she brought my beverage back it was sans lemons.....and she never came back to our table until after we were finished with our meals. I had to ask a busboy for the lemons. My wife ordered the blackened fish tacos which were greasy, bland and were not blackened nor did they have any blackened seasoning on them. With the well known name of Anthony's on the building you'd think they'd hold a little higher standard than tasteless food, Dirty dishes, seemingly incompetent wait staff. In conclusion, we will not be returning to this location in the future. read more

Yes this place is very noisy. It would make a good late night spot, except they don't stay open late night. The noise and inside atmosphere remind me of some spots in Seattle in the 80s. We've been here several times. Although it's not a great view, I like sitting outside on this level. And the sandbox is a great idea. Wish they'd had it when my kids were little. The fish and chips is sometimes greasy but I always think that deep fried fish is iffy. The rest of the food is usually excellent. When they're busy, like 7pm Sat night, the wait is long and the service can be slow. But otherwise it's not bad. I'll go again. (I really like sitting outside). If they ever decide to stay open later I'll go more often. read more

Very disappointing! The fish tacos were tasteless and drenched in some bland, unrecognizable sauce. Nothing good to be said about them. The hostess was not an ambassador for the restaurant rather had an "I don't care" attitude. Our waiter was much better and he is to be commended. Marginal food, over-priced and tasteless! We won't be back. When we arrived there were very few people in the restaurant, or outside, but we were told it would be 20-25 minutes before they could seat us! While waiting to be seated we saw 10-12 dishes on the counter waiting for servers to pick them up, and they just sat there.....the kitchen organization here is terrible! OMG I LOVE THIS PLACE! They have a sand box surrounded by outdoor tables on the water by the marina. All three kids happily skipped back and forth between our table and the toys, snacking on delicious fish and chips, kids' mac and cheese ... how have I not brought them here before?? It was a busy evening, but our server was present, kind, and helpful. I started with a cosmo (yes, BORING, but still my fav. Might be dating myself a bit). I hate cosmos with fake lime juice. This came to me with freshly squeezed lime juice, perfectly balanced! Sweet, tart, and not too vodka-y. YUM. I ordered a large Caesar and they happily added lump crab meat. It was pricey, but expected. Fresh and DELICIOUS. The hubs had grilled fish tacos, and he and the little ones loved them. I enjoy this place and have since I first came here years ago. Now that I've gotten a little older I understand it's not the ideal place for dinner with a view, but it could depending on your mood and/or party. We came in here the other night after weighing the option of going upstairs to the Anthony's restaurant or going to the beach cafe. I wanted something more casual, so I persuaded my partner to go to the beach cafe. The restaurant is kind of small so it can get packed quick, and on this particular night there were loud children everywhere. I felt like I had to yell across the four person table that we were seated at (it was just us two) to have a conversation. So keep in mind this might not be the best date place. I ordered the bakers bowl which is chowder in a bread bowl. This is one of my favorite summer eats, but I was disappointed when the bread bowl it came in was hard as a rock, which didn't make it as appetizing as I've had it other places. We both agreed that we should have went upstairs instead to get a better view, better food and an all around better experience. read more

I thought the place was really nice can't wait to go when its warmer. the garlic bread is so good, i want the recipe, next time i go ill try & bribe the server, Im not kidding it was that good. We tried three different items and the only thing that was good was the appetizer- calamari. They raised their prices way too much! $17 for three small breaded fish pieces and the fries are a disappointment. It will be a long time before we go back, if ever! read more

They were super under staffed and when the manager was approached about it he made up excuses about them being perfectly staffed they just had a big flow of customers at once.... dude it's Day 54 at this point of no rain in Seattle your a seafood restaurant on the water... obviously you are going to be busy. This place is phenomenal. My husband, my roommate and myself found this place driving around, and it was an amazing experience. The food was beyond words. I ordered the Kalbi Chicken Bowl per the waitress's recommendation and it was one of the best things I ever eaten. My husband ordered the shrimp fettuccine and demolished it. I'm not a seafood fan and even I liked it. Our waitress was the sweetest person. She gave us helpful suggestions on what to order and when finding out we were new to the area, she told us all of these great tips about the weather and what to expect and was overall a very personable and attentive waitress. read more

You would think one could get fresh fish and chips right on the water, but these were obviously frozen and re-heated here. Fish should have a nice, light batter. These were breaded like we use to get out of a frozen box at home when we were kids. Taste-less. My spouse had a blackened fish, and hers was still cold in the middle. Cost for what you get is way to expensive. Can get better food for cheaper elsewhere in town. For this price we should have had a mountain of fries, when it was just a handful...which was fine as they weren't that good anyway. This place is a joke for good seafood. Don't bother with it. If you want some good fish and chips this is your place. I ordered the salmon and chips and they were tasty. I was impressed that it was an average sized portion of good fish, instead of a huge serving of subpar fish which you usually see at restaurants. The salmon was moist and the breading was good. The menu here features all sorts of things including fish tacos, fish and chips, dinner platters, salads, etc. This place isn't as stuffy as the upstairs restaurant and is more family friendly, both in atmosphere and on the wallet. If you're looking for quiet fine dining this is not your place, you should go upstairs. But if you're looking for a lively family meal this is your place. read more

My first time here we tried to sit at the bar for some drinks at the bar on Easter. While we sat down a server kept comparing how she's not even going to make $100 today and was very upset. Used to be one of my favorites. Had an all you can eat tempura fish and chips on Monday night priced at 13.95. Place was always packed on Monday and Tuesday's (Tuesday was the same with shrimp 16.95). Online menu still reflects this pricing. Went in last night, 4 tables in the restaurant at 7:30 pm. They changed type of the fish from ling cod to panko breaded sole I believe or you can have the tempura for 19.95. 43% increase but still listed in the online menu at 13.95. I asked the waitress and she said they did that several weeks ago and the shrimp on Tuesday will go to 24.95 and "just haven't updated the menu". I had the tempura (no all you can eat) it was good fish but the batter was flat and thin and reedy. Too bad. I eat at the the Everett Anthony's regularly and had the same fish and chips at 24.95 on New Year's Eve, excellent but the price was disclosed and I had no problem with it knowing in advance Not good to fool your guests. Wonder why it was dead in there? Fix your online menu and consider why your slow. read more

Have been here many, many times over the years and have never had a bad experience until tonight. Very poor service for the first time and the food quality had noticably changed. Portions were smaller, especially obvious with the salads and the fish & chips. My husband spoke with the manager afterward. They claim it was the servers first night, so I could sort of excuse all of the service issues. She also said they had been busy so maybe the food was affected. I kind of doubt that, since there were a half dozen empty tables. We'll give the place one last try and hope it was just a fluke. read more

I'm a working mom, and Anthony's Beach Cafe is a go-to restaurant for my daughter and me whenever my husband is out of town. My daughter is 10 and a very picky eater but she always eats the food here. I can count on the beach cafe to have a good selection of wine by the glass. My personal favorite dishes are the rockfish tacos, salmon burgers and seafood fettucine. Also, when we want to splurge, my daughter and I love the blackberry buckle dessert a la mode - that alone is worth the price of admission. Fun spot for lunch with a (smallish) outdoor seating area. The featured fruit, peach, appeared in numerous drinks and desserts. The Peach Lemonade (Spiked) was refreshing with fresh peach slices. This was my first time visiting here in Edmonds, and my girlfriend and I chose Anthony's. I was a little bit hesitant on trying the pan fried oysters, being that I'm from New Orleans and holding a high bar on seafood, I tried them anyway. All I have to say is that the description listed under the pan fried oysters is incorrect. The description should have been "New Orleans style" oysters, because I've never been anywhere (and I've been to many places) and tasted fried oysters almost identical to the restaurants back home (New Orleans). This was a huge surprise and well worth it. It didn't stop with the oysters. The service was great and the ambiance. We will definitely be coming back to this place! read more
