I also love that there's a playground for bigger kids, younger kids, and one for all. They also have a fantastic bike loop with exercise machines. The big field in the middle of the loop is used for sports practices and it's well kept as well! Did I mention tennis and pickleball? Well they have both here and there are always players on weekends but weekdays it's all good! Have you been?

What you will find is a well maintained (most of the time) park on the Truckee river. Quiet park where it is easy to have space to yourself. Lots of sun and shade. Ample parking for the area. The Truckee River Walk trail goes right through the park. Make sure you respect the river current here. The shore is nice but the river gets strong in the middle.

There's plenty of shade thanks to the beautiful, massive trees, and wide open grassy areas that make it easy to spread out and relax. Notable: - Smallish park, best for the younger crowd (I'd say 8 and under). - Life jackets are available to borrow (huge plus for families near the river). - Bathroom on-site (clean-ish depending on time of day). - There's a sand horseshoe pit with horseshoes provided--random but awesome. - Ample parking - Popular for jogging groups, photoshoots, and 4-legged parents (some leashed, some not). Worth mentioning: The playground surfacing is recycled rubber tire material. While it's soft and safer for falls, I'm torn on it--lots of new research around potential chemical exposure and PFAS concerns. Feels like one of those "it seemed like a good idea in the early 2000s" things. Would love to see Reno explore alternatives in the future.

This is a park with walking and biking trails wih ample access to the truckee river. Typically quiet and has enough room to not have to crowd any particular arrea. This is also a quality place to see spring blooms and fall color changes in the area. There is a small parking lot that is pretty safe since there is really no other reason to be in this area unless you are using the park. As far as naming of this park, I believe it was named after Dr. Massoud Dorostkar, an anesthesiologist in Reno who donated the tract of land for use as a park. What I dont know is how to properly prononuce the Persian surname Dorostkar. is it DO-roast-car or duh-RAWST-kahr? Either way this is a great scenic hike and picture worthy site that is a short bike ride from downtown.

The best part is that all the beaches are on the south side of the river with thick vegetation behind you so no need for beach umbrellas. On a 100 degree day it's 75 on the beaches at Dorostkar, bring a couple tubes and you can float to the dam at Ambrose park and then walk back and do it again!!

There are bathrooms at this park, however, they were locked when I was there. There are two sets of tennis courts. One is in pretty bad condition, while one is in good condition. There are a few picnic tables at the park. None of them have a gazebo to block the sun. There isn't a large grassy area to play sports on. The playground is fun and unique. The playground equipment is in good condition. There is soft padding underneath the playground. There are no swings at this park. There is a parking area to park in. Outside of the homeless people there is one other safety concern. There is a road which leads to the south end of the playground. I could easily see a car driving too fast on this road and ending up driving into the playground. I like that there is something to do at this park and there are handball counts and basketball courts for people to play and get exercise. The Truckee also forks through this park and there is a kayaking course and also places where kids can wade and cool off on these hot summer days. Restrooms located at this park. Love how this park is family centered and what is not to love about the Reno outdoors?
