To start this place is just super cute! Our waiter was beyond great at his job. Had good recommendations was friendly, checked in often and never left us hanging waiting to see where someone was. We had the lobster "escargot" as well as the fried green tomatoes - both were wonderful. The lobster was such an interesting take on the classic French dish. We all got the halibut - because it sounded so good and no one was disappointed it was AMAZING! We all split the duck fat apple crumble for dessert and I would recommend sharing because it's a very big portion. We will very much be coming back our next time through!

What an incredible dinner experience at Anson! I came for my birthday and it absolutely did not disappoint. First of all, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the service is top notch. They have an extensive wine list for whatever your taste is, as well as a variety of beer and cocktails. Everything we had was excellent and portion sizes were impressive for a high dollar restaurant. We ordered the smoked trout dip and fried green tomatoes to start. The dip was super yummy and the homemade crackers were excellent. The fried green tomatoes were perfect and came with so much bacon jam that we had some leftover and honestly just ate it with a spoon. My husband and I split the grouper and the gnocchi. Both were super tasty and the amount of grouper was great. The gnocchi was cooked to perfection and the wagu was a great addition. We also split duck fat potatoes which were great, but the Brussels sprouts stole the show! We ended with the apple streusel, which was ginormous, but we were practically licking the bowl after- it was soooo good. I can't believe this is my first time trying this charleston staple, but it definitely won't be my last. Excellent stop for a nice dinner!

This was our third time here. Darnell is our favorite server. He's not only sweet, kind and super smart by remembering our entire order-he recommends the best wines and specials for the day. Walking in and being recognized by him means he knows his job well!! Tonight we both had the Caesar salad for the first time, a little bit more on the lemon side than Caesar. We also both had a fish dish and both were absolutely delicious. And the wine, HONIQ, I will be looking for it on the shelves. A go to must too. #charlestonfoodandwine #charlestonfoodie #ansonrestaurant

Exceptional dining experience. Professional, attentive, warm service in a uniquely beautiful, classy and romantic setting for special occasions. The crispy flounder is a stand out and delicious. If you're in Charleston, add Anson to your restaurant list.

Nice dinner but to be really top notch, can do a little more. Really enjoyed the roasted oysters. The she crab was good and the spicy pasta with shrimp was really tasty but expected a slightly bigger portion for the price. Enjoyed the Ken Wright pinot noir, but as a really nitpicky thing, expect a red wine to be served in a bigger glass.

It has been a while since we dined at Anson, but we were craving the Crispy Flounder with Apricot shallot sauce, and the only other good option is driving 2 hours to Savannah. The restaurant is beautiful with its dark wood and old pictures, most of which paying tribute to horses. The service was spot on. Nothing really stood out to us for appetizers, so we went in a different direction and decided to split the Lobster Buccatini main dish to start a dinner. This was a great pick as we loved the fresh noodles were fantastic in the White wine, and garlic, shallot reduction garnished with the grape tomatoes, We both ordered the Crispy Founder as I indicated that we were BOTH craving it. WOW, WOW, WOW, this is so much better than either of us remembered. I think it was the heat from the peppers that contrasted so well with the sweetness from the apricot sauce that made this dish so much better than before. For dessert the wife ordered and enjoyed the Pecan pie ala mode, I really loved the Almond basket. As the name suggests, the basket is made from crushed Almonds, likely hardened with sugar and melted butter. The basket was filled with fresh berries, ice cream, and a couple of sprigs of fresh mint. Yum!!!! We will NOT wait so long to go back the next time

Had a few drinks at the bar with a very friendly bar staff. Dinner upstairs was relaxing and service was great. Started with the "lobster escargot" which was very good. All of us at the table had the scallop special and a side of the street corn. Amazing food. Thanks for making final night in Charleston a good one. Will be back.

Five Star rating brought to you by the restaurant's location, service and main dishes. It is also a gorgeous setting. Staff was both friendly and professional, very old school southern charm. The restaurant is right next to Charleston Market. And my shrimp pasta dish was scrumptious. Some things that weren't my favorite include the small dish size for the price and I did not enjoy the snow crab appetizer. While the specialty Margarita was $22 it was good pour. Overall, the ambiance, main dish, and professional southern service make this a recommendation and a would go to again!

    Amazingly good

The BEST food we ate all week!!! It is amazing. The fish was incredible, the drinks amazing, the atmosphere terrific, the dessert made us tempted to lick the plate. Would go back again and again. Service had charm. Gluten free items marked on menu. We loved it and it was gluten free. Crab legs- yummy Gf dessert- yummy Fish- amazing we ordered the halibut and the grouper

Great atmosphere, good service and the food is amazing. We had the Tomahawk pork chops and the royal red shrimp appetizer, both were very tasty. It's located next to the Old Town carriage tours so you can roll right out of the restaurant and scratch the horses' noses. Recommend highly.

Soft shell crab! Mother's Day really was my day. Marianne was our very nice server and when she said the special of the day, I was crazy excited. Boy did they live up to expectations. Quite large ( and you got 2 shockingly) with the crispiest and very flavorful crust, then to bite into huge chunks of perfectly cooked crab. Heaven! The dish also came with mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked asparagus with a lovely sauce on the bottom of the plate.,I am critical of every asparagus I've had in a restaurant. Not these. Our server was nice and knowledgeable about menu , but then runners brought our food, we were at the communal style high top and we had to get the party next to us's waiter to refill our drinks. Asked one time in what I call a drive by server how food was. We then sat for 15 minutes finished and had to grab aforementioned other server to ask for desert menu. Server came by and took order and I asked for check as didn't know how long it would be before he came back. I took another 20 Minutes to get desert and pay bill. Just for context. We arrived around 7:45 and they closed at 9:00. They were not that busy, but we stepped out of the restaurant at 9:35. Slow Service good food. Your choice

First we were told to grab a seat anywhere so we sat at the oyster shucking station. The man shucking oysters (forgot his name, sorry!) was super kind and very knowledgeable and got our oysters ready in no time. I ordered 6 raw oysters and my bf got 6 oysters steamed. Due to a small mixup in the kitchen, my bf's steamed oysters came out a bit late, however they were delicious according to him. My raw ones were fresh and sooooo yummy. It was also happy hour so each oyster was only $1.50. Best price in the area!!! We grabbed some other happy hour menu items: hushpuppies, peel and eat steamed shrimp, steamed clams, and we ordered a side snow crab cluster not on happy hour. Everything was DELICIOUS. We walked out of there feeling good about the money we spent and we now have a place to go to every time we are in town. The ONLY downside was our waiter. He's lucky I forgot his name because he was awful and had the personality of a doorknob. I almost wanted to speak to the manager about him because he brought the vibe down. Horrible customer service, doesn't know how to be professional, and even when I waved goodbye saying thank you with a huge smile he just stared at me and didn't say anything. He needs a talking to because it's not that hard to be kind to others or have a little personality, especially in the hospitality industry.

Overall I had a pleasant experience, which may not be reflected in the amount of stars I'm giving them. If I could do a 3.5 I would. The food was the highlight of my experience. We got the pimento cheese balls to start, which were absolutely delicious. Then I got the shrimp mac and cheese, which was also pretty good. Nothing to write home about. My drink was pretty bad, which I partially blame myself for just for ordering poorly. It tasted like tequila and red dye 40 in a martini glass. It was also lukewarm when I got it. If I'm paying around $15 for a drink, it needs to be good. As you can kinda tell by the picture, the lights in the restaurant were ON. Which isn't really a problem, but it doesn't really make for a cool ambiance.
