After my purchase, I checked the Chanel website and discovered that the exact frame I bought was listed for $380, while this optometry charged me $525 for the frame alone. When I contacted them to ask about the price difference, they explained that it was due to additional charges and fees. They also claimed that the price was higher because they were able to accommodate my insurance, and that I only paid $220 out of pocket, which they presented as a better deal than the retail price. This explanation makes no sense to me. My insurance provides partial coverage; that does not justify inflating the frame's price. If the frame had been charged at the price listed on Chanel's official website, my out-of-pocket cost would have been significantly lower -- around $70, based on my understanding of my insurance benefits. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I called to discuss this issue and was promised a callback, but no one ever followed up. I understand that businesses have operating costs, but customers deserve transparent pricing and honest explanations, especially when insurance benefits are involved.
