Dr. Martin is great and I highly recommend him. His front-office support staff, however, has no accountability; phones always go unanswered and messages go unreturned. I don't believe Dr. Martin is aware of any of this. Front office staff lack courtesy and professionalism. Follow-up is also lacking by the staff in transmitting information, referrals, and medical records. A patient portal would be a desirable addition to this practice to track contacts made and to get through to Dr. Martin via email. I have left several messages over the past two weeks and have yet to hear from her. I can't even get my 84-year-old senior father an appointment to get his eyeglasses. No seniors have VSP and they are listed as a provider but if you call to make an appointment they insist that you be seen and have a medical exam although every eye doctor I've ever gone to to get glasses or contacts does all the testing necessary to write a prescription for contacts or glasses so if you don't want to have to pay for a medical visit then keep looking They won't see you unless you see the doctor with a referral from your doctor have a medical exam then they'll allow you to have just a visual exam read more

I just want everyone know that if you want a good eye doctor then go see Dr Martin. He had two offices one in diamond bar and the other in chi No on riverside dr. That's the one I go to. He is very thorough with his exams and do very very friendly and kind and so down to earth. You can never go wrong in going to him for eye care. Dr. Martin is a great doctor. He did surgery on my eyes when I was about 15 years old. I was really young and a big nervous about the procedure but he put my mind at ease. With that being said, his staff and the staff at the office is horrible. The worst customer service you could ever receive. My mom was recently diagnosed with glaucoma and with the complications I already have with my eyes. I wanted to be cautious and see Dr. Martin. Could not get an appointment. Dr. Martin is such a compassionate and professional doctor!! I had a wonderful experience with him and his staff!! I had a cornea abrasion that had started ulcerating AND some hemorrhaging in the eye, so an ER doctor recommended that I see an ophthalmologist ASAP. I called Dr. Martin's office first thing the next morning, and their office was able to squeeze me into their busy schedule immediately!! My situation was considered an ophthalmologic emergency. If my eye had been left untreated, it could have possibly damaged other structures in the eye or have possibly led to blindness (although rare), so I am so thankful that I was treated early on. Dr. Martin completed a full exam on my eyes and determined the best course of treatment for the infected eye. He answered all of my questions with such finesse and I felt totally reassured afterwards. I was prescribed 2 antibiotic eye drops and another eye drop for discomfort and pain. Dr. Martin is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and has such great bedside manners!! You can trust him for any of your ophthalmologic needs!! read more

Dr. Martin is an excellent caring professional. His attention to his patients is exemplary.

First, let me say I was referred by my wife, yet never was able to schedule an appt with Dr, Martin. After numerous attempts, left messages with no returns calls, and calls where I was left on hold for abnormally long periods of time, I was able to get an appt 2+ months out, even though I had a condition that needed to be diagnosed. The front office was horrible and really did treat my calls as nuisances. They were very rude and short with their questions and made me feel as though I was wasting their time. Decided to look for another provider and found one that was the exact opposite of my experiences with Dr, Martin's office, with an even higher rating with double the reviews. Sad, but I would never recommend this office unless they knew Dr. Martin personally and could bypass the front office entirely. You have been warned. read more

Zero respect for their customers. When you have surgery in the morning and the doctor wants to see the patient later that afternoon, don't make them wait 90 minutes to be called in. This is the second time post-surgery where we have waited 90 minutes to be called in, only to wait another 30 minutes for anyone to come into the exam room. The doctor (not Martin) is great, but the rest of the office is an embarrassment. Need to talk to Diana to schedule an appointment? Good luck. It took 6 weeks of calling daily before she answered the phone. Leave a voicemail? You won't get a call back. Oh, and those eye drops you're supposed to use that they conveniently sell in the office.... Diana forgot to reorder them, so call back daily to see if we have them. This is about a doctor that Dr. Martin has working at his practice. She is Dr. Nguyen. She wouldn't listen to me when I said my eyesight was blurry. She said it was because my eyes were dry. So I went to another doctor and he did the tests to confirm that it wasn't because my eyes were dry. It is that have a macular pucker and a membrane on my retina. I received an automated call from Dr. Martin's office last Wednesday asking to confirm my Friday appointment. Although I don't recall having an appointment, I went ahead and confirmed it. Then I called the office and told Derrick that I had not received the Authorization Letter, yet. He checked my file and confirmed they had a copy of the letter. First, Dr. Martin Wayne is great...when you are lucky to see him. He is very thorough and explains the process until you completely understand. His bedside manner is impeccable. Sadly, the "front office" is a complete 180 of him. They treat you as you are a nuisance to them (one girl in particular) and promise returned phone calls that NEVER happen. I'm not talking about this happening once or twice, but SIX times in the course of ten days. I had to get the office manager (Diana) involved who appeared sympathetic and finally received the follow up I was promised. My guess is they hire the front help at low wages and you get what you pay for...a group of people who do not want to be there and stare at the clock until it's time to go home. The receptionist will look at the schedule and tell me , for instance I Hav 15 min. I tell her "I'll be back." Out the door I walk over to the nearby SEE's Candy Store, make my purchase, then to the beauty supply next door. Never coming back! I wanted to leave halfway through my appointment. That's how bad the service was.. The receptionists were not friendly/accomodating at all. There were probably 4 or 5 of them behind the counter..no smiles at all. My appointment was at 2pm. I showed up at 145p because I know I'd be filling out paperwork.. everyone worked so slow. I finally got called in a room.. the girl did not even introduce herself. The doctor who saw me (McCullen, i believe) did not introduce himself either--just read off from his lab coat. Started throwing acronyms and abbreviations about the test that he was going to do..he didnt even know what they meant..when I asked him what OCT meant. Dr. Martin is a good doctor BUT the length of time that it takes to actually see him is RIDICULOUS! Every time we come back for routine checkup we have to wait at least 1 hour or more before we are seen. Why make appointment when you can't follow through with it? Our last appointment was for 3:20 and we were not seen by the doctor till 5:20. TWO hours before we saw the doctor. Unless you are retired or have absolutely nothing in your life that you need to get to, then come see him. Otherwise, I suggest looking for a different ophthalmologist. read more
