Crab Cake Benedict
Jonathan C.

This place is absolutely buzzing but a more than solid breakfast or brunch option. They have great variety including some adult beverages if you're in the mood to get your day started off that way lol. The service was amazing! I used the wait ahead option online and timed it just perfectly. It was definitely crowded and busy but we walked in and were seated in seconds. The wait staff and runners were all super friendly and the atmosphere was busy but in a good way. Lots of families and friends sharing a meal together with plenty of conversation going on. The food is properly priced and minus a few tweaks, everything was great! It appears as if they make their own sausage blend or at the very least form it to order so that's always a plus. The grits had the perfect consistency just needed a hefty hand of salt and pepper. The crab benny's were super flavorful, just the poached eggs were a little over and didn't have the runny yolk. All in all, I'll definitely be coming back with my kids and trying out some seasonal options.

A nice place for brunch with a pleasant atmosphere. The waitress and her trainee was very nice and hospitable. We chose the Apple Fritter French Toast and the Western Omelette. The food presentation was nice and the food was served at a great temperature. However, I suggested getting the French toast grilled a little longer. In some places, Mine's was still doughy inside. But overall, we had a wonderful experience!

I've been to this location before and I've always enjoyed my visits. Staff is knowledgeable about the menu, courteous and the food comes out in a timely manner prepared as ordered. They often have new items on the menu so you can get something new each time. I must note that the bacon was perfect today. I ordered a side.of sausage but I was yearning for more of the bacon. Do yourself a favor and join the waitlist ahead of time. You will be seated quicker.

Went here for brunch around 10am and got seated right away since it wasn't too busy. I ordered the Shrimp Benny with a Peach Palmer and both were delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The only downside was that by the time we were wrapping up, the restaurant got pretty busy and it took a while for our server to check in, so closing out the check was a bit slow. Overall, great food and drinks, and I'd definitely come back earlier in the day to beat the rush.

Decided to have breakfast before headijg to the office ... was greeted immediately when I walk in and was seated ... I always like this place because of the bar design with the sports theme being we are so close to the college .. I ordered the Crab Benedict ... with the reg Hollandaise sauce being I gone eat pork... with the potatoes add cheese ... my meal came out and was piping hot which I love ... the red and greeen peppers are a nice addition for a pop of color ... the crab cake was book perfectly and not overcooked how some places do.. the biscuit was fresh also... most importantly the poached egg brought the meal together. For personal preference I added salt which enhanced the flavor... Nice quick meal before I start my day ... and thanks to Pascualina for great service and making sure the hollandaise sauce was not pork infused ...

Dropping daughter off for school at SC, went to the broken egg in west Columbia, wait was 1 1/2 hours, decided to try the one on Devine st. Got there there was bar seating available, took that right away! :). Had the Strawberry mimosa and Broken Egg Chicken Biscuit sandwich, oth excellent! Bartending crew was excellent! Broken Egg never disappoints!!

Apple fritter French toast/ chorizo omelette with goat cheese and bacon

Nice decor for a breakfast house tucked away in a plaza. Staff was friendly and attentive. The apple fritter French toast was delicious as well as the chorizo omelette with goat cheese and bacon. Pricing was reasonable.

Another Broken Egg is always a good time. The wait time varies depending on the day, but as long as you get in the wait list it's not that bad. The environment is always bustling with high energy and it's very well lit. I always have to get a mimosa pitcher. All of the flavors are delicious. Definitely try it for some good brunch vibes !

Let me start by saying I love Another Broken Egg, in Charlotte. So I just assumed the quality of food would be the same in Columbia. My wife ordered my food on line. All I wanted was the BLT&A . It looked really good before I took it apart to add some mayo to it. The lettuce was brown and withered. The avocado also brown. I was sad. Now the reason it gets 3 star is because Isaiah took care of us. He gave us a refund as well as some gift cards. Praying they get it right next time.

Best breakfast I've had in a long time. I ordered the Spanish omelet he got the country power bowl - all was fantastic but the Martin gras pancakes were seriously the best I've had. I saw the Cinamon roll French toast come out and that's definitely happening next time, Sweet tea was on point also. Diabetes will ensue.

Lemon Mascarpone Pancakes

The food was delicious, the service was great, and the ambience of the café was amazing. I absolutely loved my experience here. 100% will be coming back.

I've been here a few times and it's prob one of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots to go to during the week since it's not too busy and crowded. My baby graduated kindergarten today so I decided to treat her. She got the kids dollar pancakes and bacon and scrambled eggs and I got the Mardi Gras omelette with side of fruit and house blend coffee with half and half. I got the omelette without red peppers and it was so good. I think there is crawfish, shrimp and andouille sausage in it with a hollandaise sauce. The meat was cooked perfectly and gave the omelette a lot of flavor and texture. The sauce was creamy and also gave a different texture to the omelette vs just putting hot sauce on it. I think it paired perfectly with the seafood and balanced out the flavors. I forgot they had green onions on top which I could have done without but I just took them off. The coffee was a medium roast and was so fresh and I love the smell of coffee so it made everything better. It is still strong but not overpowering. With the half and half and Splenda sugar, it cut the bitterness and was still a bit sweet to enjoy. I'd say it was overall a 9/10. My daughter enjoyed her pancakes and bacon and they make it crispy how she likes it, she said it was a 10/10 lol. She also enjoyed my blueberries and i ate the strawberries which were perfectly ripe and sweet. Definitely a good brunch spot but I'd recommend going on a weekday and avoid weekends especially holidays if you want to avoid waiting.

Crinkle fries were a bit hit for this little one. Enjoyed the fries with ranch. Lone Star Brisket Sandwich - Smoked brisket, house-made pickles, and slaw. Saint Louis Pork Ribs - Good portion but again on the flavor - heavily reliant on the sauce. Sweet tea was perfect and the pickles were delicious! Service wasn't the best; refills were hard to get. I think next time we will avoid a chain and find a hole-in-the-wall establishment.

The menu has great choices that I haven't seen elsewhere. I ordered chicken salad in a bread bowl, and it was really delicious. The bowl is topped with cheese and popped in the over, so it arrives hot. The bread bowl had a wonderfully crispy crust and tender inside, and the chicken salad was warm and tasty. I've had soup bread bowls, but not hot and crispy, and of course, not chicken salad. The sides menu is a long list; I chose onion rings. They were plentiful, crunchy, and very flavorful - as far from the heavily breaded limp onion rings most places serve as you could get. We ate in the late afternoon, but the place still had several parties like us. We liked the vibe, casually upscale, and unpretentious. Go!

The only downside about my born day is the close proximity to Valentine's day. Which can sometimes make the planning around the commercialized love day tricky... especially when it comes to restaurant reservations.... Womp womp. Backstreets Grill said they could accommodate a party of 8. They were clearly busy and with our party size we could understand. Nonetheless, we had a very loonnngggg wait, which was frustrating and deflating. We waited 4x the time the young ladies initially told us upon arrival. However, once we were finally seated things started to turn around slightly. I say slightly because we were seated on the enclosed patio, with a portable heater but several people were cold. Just to think they kept asking us and others if we wanted to sit outside. (It's February @ night). Now the food: Some of the dishes were more favorable than others and I must admit all of my personal choices were great. Appetizers: -Mussels - White Wine (My Order) -Fried Oysters (I tried) -Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna -Lump Crab Dip (I tried) -Tomato Parmesan Soup (My Order) -Side House & Caesar Salads (I tried) I personally had the Mussels, which were perfect, and the tomato parmesan soup and both made you want to like the bowl. The broths were so good. I tried the fried oysters, they were also very good, but the presentation was a little messy. The Lump Crab Dip and the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna completely fell short and were not memorable at all and the side salads were sad. Entrées: -Cajun Chicken Pasta w/ Blackened Shrimp (My order) -Buffalo Chicken Pizza (I tried) -House-made Meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes & vegetables -Pork-chop w/ mashed potatoes & green beans -Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla w/ Fries -Ribeye w/ Truffle Parmesan Fries My sister and I both ordered the Cajun Chicken pasta, I added the blackened shrimp to my order, we were both extremely happy. The dish was not spicy but it was well balanced. The recipients of the Meatloaf, Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the Quesadilla were all also pleased with their dishes. The folks that ordered the ribeye and the two pork-chops were not impressed... the dishes were just ok. Our server Adrian, was pleasant, but you can tell he was very overwhelmed which sometimes didn't translate well. As the night went on we understood he was being pulled in multiple directions at once and he did good despite of it. Overall I enjoyed my celebration and experience @ Backstreets Grill. Just A Note: I notice that they can get busy so be ready to wait. Even smaller parties were forced to stretch their patience.
