We were driving through the NW and I was going to go to Subway when I saw THIS. What to like: - the fresh ingredients - amazing waiter (poor guy, waiting on 10 tables at the same time) - taste of food - portion of noodle soups What not to like: - odd arrangement of room - the wait (holy cow, from the moment I sat down to when the food finally came took 36 minutes... and I had ONE dish) - limited menu selections Would I go back? Just visiting town on business, I was starving for some great Asian food. Even though Subway was just around the corner, Annie's was just behind it on 5th Street. Their white sign caught my eye amidst the dark streets alongside 101. I said to myself, F it, no sandwich for me tonight. I ordered the green bean with beef stir fry, red chicken curry and the shrimp spring rolls. No regrets but now I overate due to the amount of deliciousness infused in their cooking. The green bean beef stir fry had the right amount of garlic and sauce and putting it over warm rice just enhanced the flavors. The red curry with chicken was quite tasty as well. Their version had strips of potatoes in it unlike other restaurants that put chunks in their version and takes up space in the meal itself. The shrimp springs rolls speak for itself. It was fresh and the accompanying peanut/vinegar like sauce took each bite to another level. Great Job for making me full! read more

Please note, I'm only commenting on the food. My flight to SF was canceled so I spent an extra night at a hotel. I was in the mood for some spicy thai but decided to give this place a try given my proximity to their restaurant. So, I ordered take out. I'm so glad I did! The Cambodian Crepe was so different, tasty, and delicious. Served with a tasty house sauce, this a perfect appetizer! Or order three for a meal! For my main dish I had the green bean stir fry with chicken over white rice. The house sauce was perfect. Drizzle the house-made chile oil over this dish for a perfect combo! I will definitely be going back on my next trip to Eureka. read more

Normally I would have 4 starred the place but the owner (?) and a cook were fighting so loud I though we would have to call the cops. I actually check to make sure things were ok before we left. 5 stars because humboldt is notorious for its bad asian cuisine. This place is great. The restaurant is s a little small but the food is cooked fresh and you can definitely taste it. My favorite dish is the ginger chicken but mind you ginger chicken is always my favorite thing on the menu if they make it good which they do at Annie's. I've had a handful of things off the menu and all very good. Some of the portions could be just a tad bit bigger for my taste but they are by no means small. My experience with Annie's was amazing! This was my first experience with Cambodian food and Annie's had come highly recommended by a friend. I went at a time that was not very busy. The lady who served me was very helpful and friendly when it came to choosing my meal. I got the fried cheese wontons as an appetizer and they were phenomenal with the dipping sauce and just a spoonful of the garlic pepper oil they have on the table. I ordered a dish with chicken, bell peppers and onions and a lemongrass and basil sauce. I added vegetables. The portion was amazing and I had leftovers for breakfast. It was so good! I had the sticky rice with mango for dessert and it was so good! The lady who served me was always a step ahead and made sure I had what I needed as I needed it. I would highly recommend Annie's to anyone looking for a great dining experience with Asian cuisine! read more

I would say that Annie's Cambodian delivers a satisfying, quality meal. I'm not well versed in fine dining, or what makes a gourmet dish, but living in eureka, its easy to find bad examples. There are quite a few restaurants in the area that can deliver on portions and ingredients, but ultimately fall short of flavor and consistency. Annie's Cambodian hit the mark for me, and it being husbands second time, he definitely was satisfied too. (We would both go back in a heartbeat!) The cheese puffs weren't complicated, just a simple fried wanton and a cream cheese based filling. But what else can you ask for?! They were beautiful along with the egg rolls, but both vessels (the wontons and wraps) were overcooked. This doesn't bother husband and I in the slightest, they were promptly inhaled. The lemongrass chicken stir fry had a bold, strong smell, but the flavor was well rounded and not over powering at all. My husband's chow mein was average, but he definitely liked it. The Thai tea is expensive, but that didn't stop me. I can never get enough of spices tea lattes. :) Husband insists that had we gotten the popular waiter, I'd be giving Annie's Cambodian five stars. Next time we visit I'll be checking in on yelp again for sure. :) read more

Got here during the lunch rush so it was a little hectic but what a great find. Right on 101 too! Definitely try the Lok Lak - very authentic Cambodian dish. Food is generally very similar to Thai so if you like that give it a try and add a country to your culinary passport. read more

Excellent place to stop when passing through Eureka! Our Bed and breakfast host recommended it so we tried it on a Monday night. Pleasant surprise for us. The spring rolls and the fish amok were very tasty. And Chan our server was quite pleasant. I'm sorry some others on here may not have had the same A+ service. read more

duuuuuude. fur real. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! Went for dinner last night and it was superb! I've been searching for some delicious, authentic Thai food and I finally found some. The menu is great! It provides pictures and it tells you the normal American name for some dishes (just to make it easy!) Anyhoo, everything I ordered was perfect! The flavors were so balanced and so fresh I thought I was hanging with my Thai nanny again. The service was great too! I have been here a few times, with both family and friends. I am half cambodian; the food here is pretty authentic, flavorful, presented nicely, and well-priced. My husband and I came here and we loved the food and the atmosphere. We had a lot of fun planning our few days over honestly really delicious food. I don't have a lot of experience with Cambodian cuisine but had the Rice Noodle with Spicy Chicken Curry-served warm and really enjoyed it. A nice blend of somewhat complex SE asian flavors and fresh ingredients. I thought the venue was nice enough and the service was great. I can't speak to the authenticity but I enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely eat here again. The pricing seemed reasonable too. Check it out. read more

Annie's continues to be one of my favorite places to eat! I always end up finishing off a great meal with the wonderful mango sticky rice. Our favorites were the Cha Bonleh Krup Muck (Vegetable Stir Fry), Sach Kor Aing (Grilled Beef), Mee Kataing (Chow Mein), and the Bai Cha (House Fried Rice). Everything was wonderful! The Arcata/Eureka area desperately needs more SE Asian food. And I was happy and quite pleased after trying the food at Annie's. We had the Cambodian Salad and the Veggie Curry. Both dishes were very good. I especially enjoyed the salad. It was fresh, had good texture and blend of flavors and was ample enough to split. It tasted extra good with the chili oil. The veggie curry was also very good. Nice flavor and variety of veggies. I would like to see a pumpkin curry on the menu. The decor leaves something to be desired, and there was an... interesting.. smell that seemed to permeate the restaurant, which was thankfully covered with delicious smelling food. This place is really good. I had the whole fish in sweet and sour sauce and i could probably drink the sauce by the gallon....yum. The spring rolls are delicious, both deserts are great, and the service is really good. The place is small and you can make a reservation to be sure you get in. It has been pretty busy since opening. This place rocks! The food is incredible. Loved the cheese puffs and pork spring rolls for appetizers, both were so excellent. For entree's we ordered the Tom Yum soup with veggies, and the red curry with chicken. Both flavors were absolutely spot on and delicious. You can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients here -- for good prices, too. The service was great as well! Definitely plan on making this a regular stop from here on out. read more

Stopped here for a mid afternoon bite--great little place and the waiter (Josh?) was very down to earth and answered all of our questions. I got a veganized vermicelli noodle with tofu, sweet sauce and coconut cream dressing which was delicious--my friend got the pad Thai. So great! Authentic Cambodian in the middle of Humboldt County! Who knew it was possible! Everything is super fresh and cooked to order with amazing prices for the quality and quantity. The service can be a bit slow, so come during the off-hours. The catfish coconut curry is spectacular, as is the classic Cambodian pork pho (ish) soup. SF-level authentic and delicious. read more

I've eaten here many times and love the food. Unfortunately the lunch time waiter (older guy) is not very attentive, at ALL. I generally have to find him to place my order and then again to get my check. They used to have really nice staff at lunch. This dude that they have now makes me not want to go back. But I will go back because the food is excellent. Update from 11/12/15: Sorry about the grumpy review. I've switched to 5 stars. The papaya salad, spicy, is supremely good. The pho is also really really good. The "old guy" is now one of my favorite servers around. I don't know what I was thinking. He's all business, and that's what I like. read more

HOT POTS!! And spring rolls... Super duper fresh. Went with my parents who had checked out Pho Huang just a few days before, and they were much happier this time around. The hot pot with egg noodles had more success-the broth was also lighter and less creamy than the peanut based one. I had a vegetable green curry, spicy but still flavorful-i am not a big fan of eggplants but they obviously knew how to bring the best in them! Great service, not intrusive but available. Not Thai, but some flavors are similar. We had 5 or 6 dishes, all delicious. We asked for extra spicy so we had many little bits of fresh red and green HOT peppers in each dish. The homemade hot sauce on the table is really delicious but we tasted it then realized the kitchen had honored our request for extra spicy so we didn't need to add the table sauce. If we lived close we would come here often! We'll make a point of comng back, despite the distance from home. The waiter was wonderful despite the friendly ribbing from one of our party over his handlebar mustache. read more
