Where am I, anyway? Googling the neighborhood of X-Marks the Spot - Chestnut Hill & West End…read more Sandwiched between row homes, on this quiet, tree lined street, is a little slice of soul heaven. Only a few tables, and one sheet of food pictured paper menu, sits on the counter, where you order and pay. I had some minor gripes, but they're livable (in my book). First of all, I felt the music was a wee bit too loud. I know though, had I expressed this, the volume would have been lowered and no questions or weird looks, asked. Let's get down to the chow, yes lawd - fried fish, collards & mac n' cheese. Portion sizes, ample - enough for breakfast the next morning. Thin, crisp, spiced right coating on that perfectly cooked fish. X's rendition of mac n' cheese, the addition of chili's and the gooey factor, there.. so there. Don't even get me started on their greens. Hope no one sees this, but.. I drank the greens broth; that's how good it was. Cooked tender, a slight tang, a bit of heat and a faint touch of sweet. I was almost tempted to order another go round of collards, but my acid reflux started kicking in. One other gripe, which I feel should be mentioned was the hubby's spicy fried fish sandwich, where the heat came from a pouring of hot sauce onto the fish, suggest to kick it up a notch through the spice, instead. I'll be back, though - get me more of those collards and a box of antacids. Hey, you only live once.

Cat fish was fried to PERFECTION. Amazingly flavorful collard greens and the mac and cheese was made me smack my knee, So good. also, i was instantly welcomed in by the man with the dread locks and beard, mad familiar guy too, but hella friendly, amazing environment. he was talking to a guest next to me like family LOL. i also had an short but pleasant interaction with the curly haired woman, very very cool people.-- In conclusion , I HIGHLY recommend Sweet T & Greens. Might be number 1 soul food for me. thank you guys for an amazing and early Thanksgiving meal!

The French toast with the candied pecans and homemade strawberry sauce and whipped cream- chef's kiss. Same for the catfish and grits, pork belly bacon and chicken fingers/ fries... All foods you likely had before but elevated. Just so good. My family and I really enjoyed our food. I am happy we wandered the neighborhood before headed back home. They are a family owned establishment with excellent service and care. Loved the family theme throughout the restaurant and witnessing many family members working together helping this place thrive. The food, the atmosphere and music just hit home and felt like visiting cousins. Pro tip: we learned they are not regularly open for brunch. We stumbled upon them during their "back to school" brunch special. The hours on yelp said they were closed but we were driving around looking for food and saw them open. Please call or check their website before visiting. I believe you can make reservations as well. The food and vibes are worth it. We'll certainly check them out again for dinner or brunch the next time we are in town.
