There was no flavors in the chicken or rice, but the fried plantains were sweet just how I like them. The portion size and the sauces are the only good thing I can say about this establishment. Insanely good food. Like good enough that we happily drove 45 minutes out of our way to go here. The portions are absolutely monstrous. They can't even close the lid on the container there's so much in it. The staff is super friendly everything is constantly being freshly prepared and restocked. Plenty of seating inside but nothing outside that I've seen. The line can get long on a weekday for lunch, so plan ahead! Some of the best Peruvian chicken I've had anywhere. Food is always hot and fresh. Chicken is always moist, and customer service is pretty good. This is the only one that I go to.

We ordered a whole chicken with two sides and the meal came with 6 sauces which were 2 different sauces in six little cups. I liked the sweet creamy white sauce, but the creamy green sauce wasn't our favorite....just not for us. The chicken was great! It was super juicy and had a great mild flavor. The cole slaw was creamy and sweet and the green beans were nothing spectacular. I'd like to try some other sides like yucca next time. Good place to try in the area to pick up food. The sides were good. We liked the green beans, plantains and yuca fries. We had been excited to try the chicken, because I love the many Peruvian chicken places in and around Raleigh, but we were disappointed today. As others have said, the large portion of 1/4 white meat chicken was well cooked and beautifully charred, but it was extremely salty, and my dad found it almost inedible. I haven't seen this in other reviews, but it was a problem for us today. It's a small, hole-in-the-wall place. I didn't expect it to be fancy, but it didn't seem clean. Our table was unbalanced, and it made eating awkward. I would have liked for them to be more environmentally friendly, too. We ate in, and our food was served on styrofoam plates with plastic utensils in a community basket, so many hands were touching them. Also, there was no recycling receptacle for the utensils, water bottles and soda cans. On the plus side, their prices are quite reasonable. read more

The people complaining about this place are probably the same ones that go to McDonald's and tell their friends that food is good/healthy with a straight face. If you've been in the APG area, you know decent food is hard to find. Sure there are the typical fast food joints, but if you want something different and slightly better, look no further. I found this place when my car broke down last year. It was in some random area off the road. Probably the worst location ever. But where they lose in location, they make up in food, prices, and quantities. I attached a picture I've had now twice. No complaints except they overcharge on the drinks IMO. In the south, we don't have many "Peruvian style" food, so this is a treat Ordered the fried tilapia and was "pleasantly surprised" that when it says whole fish, it means whole fish. It too was seasoned well and the way it was cooked you could easily slip the meat off the bone. Will continue to bring my out ocf town guests here for a flavorful meal Yeah. I ordered carry out from Super Chicken Rico one night since one of my colleagues had highly recommended it. I ordered the 1/4 white meat chicken with sides of fried yukka and vegetables. The chicken was wonderful- perfectly seasoned and fell right off the bone. I could see the chickens roasting in the back when I arrived, so I know it is very fresh when you order. The vegetables were seasoned nicely as well and consisted of carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli mostly. The fried yukka was unfortunately cold and seemed to be sitting out for a while, which is the reason why I have to get this review 4 stars. I would absolutely recommend the chicken, but my advice would be to scan the sides to try and see which is the most fresh before you order. read more

You gotta love a place where the customers give the best advice about what to try. The roasted chicken is no joke. The chicken is roasted over a wood fire and the smokiness and deep flavor comes right through. On my last visit a regular asked me if I had ever tried the fried whole fish )I hadn't). He begged me to add it to my order, with plantains and fried yucca. The BEST thing I have ever impulsively done! The skin was crisp and the fish tender. Across the board delicious. I Hardly ever write a bad review. Since the pandemic I've made a conscious effort to support small businesses. The food is good but when i ordered 3 dark meat plates (chicken) (for some reason they don't like for you to do that but couldn't give me a reason why) they started talking smack in Peruvian with the intent of me not understanding. Very unprofessional. I would think if I'm paying for the food why is it a problem with what I order if it's on the menu. Didnt ask for substitutions or anything. They Definitely don't have to worry about this customer spending money there anymore. This place is consistently busy and the chicken is done right. I've been to a few peruvian chicken spots where the chicken is either dry or the quantities are sub par. This spot exceeds all expectations and when you're around for the APG lunch hour, you will feel it. Lines can be long so plan accordingly. I have both the chicken plate and the burrito on separate visits and it is ALWAYS good. As far as sides, I always get the yucca and beans. I've tried the pasta and fried rice and that is killer too. The staff are always friendly and patient with you even if a line extend behind you. Thats what I call service. Parking can also be a tough but find a spot and walk it. It's worth it. read more

Very solid Pollo a la brasa joint. They do it in the typical Peruvian style and they do it quite well. The chicken is very nicely seasoned and obtains a nice smokey flavor. The texture is pretty darn good though a higher level of perfection could probably be attained through trussing or cooking the parts separately. We also got sides of fried plantains and fried yucca. Both were quite tasty. The yucca had a solidly crispy exterior with oily flavor that was enjoyable. The interior of some of the pieces still was a bit overly starchy and dry. The plantains were sweet but a bit too gooey. Check this place out if you're popping through. read more

After all the great reviews we decided to stop here for lunch on our way to Baltimore. I would call this Peruvian junk food, so be ready for a fatty splurge. It tastes really good, but there was a pool of liquid grease in my takeout container after I finished my sandwich. My husband and I shared both the Chicken Rico sandwich and a chicken BBQ sandwich. The style of sandwich reminds me of po' boys, if you're familiar with Cajun food. They were similar, both with the roasted chicken, ranch dressing, lettuce, onion, tomato, on a soft roll, and add bbq sauce for the bbq one. The french fries weren't great but we did go after the lunch rush so maybe they rushed a new batch for us? They weren't crispy and got a lot of the fatty oil from the sandwich on them in my takeout container. I regret that we didn't try the plantains or some of the other menu items, but we will go back next time we head south. The staff was very friendly and food was made to order very quickly (we were there between 1 and 2pm on a week day). The restaurant was clean and organized when we were there. I've been to this location as well as the one in Baltimore. This place is much smaller. It tastes like the same recipe as in Baltimore, but the rotisserie chicken was very slightly not as blackened. Then again, I went in during lunchtime. I think that the prices may be a little bit lower here too. The portions here are equally as large. The Meals come with 2 sides and range from $8 -$11 depending on white/dark meat and the amount( 1/4 or 1/2 chicken meal). The sides are limited. Rice, beans, plantains, yucca, French fries, seasoned potatoes( I think they are roasted) and green beans. Here are the Cons: 1. The restaurant is small so you will leave smelling like smoked chicken if you dine in. 2. If you drive too fast you will miss it. It's tucked away on a small street across from a dingy motel 3. This place rocks! Come early so u can get the chargrilled chicken when its hot and fresh and before they run out. I came at around noon, and the lines were already forming and many of the sides were already gone. I tried the chicken white rice which had a hint of curry or something asian and is sooo gooood. The fried yuca with green pepper sauce will blow your mind away. I take that back, anything with that green pepper sauce is win. And finally, of course the chicken was fricken awesome. I got the 1/2 chicken (comes with both light and dark meat) which turned out to be too much even for me!! Just means more leftovers i suppose. The 1/4 chicken is enough for most average ppl. Oh and get the Inka soda its like cream soda with bubblegum flavoring. Gasp!! All and all for the price and quantity nothing really comes close in that area of MD. Hello, Unfortunately, I need to report a food safety issue based on my experience on January 2, 2022. I purchased chicken and green beans from Super Chicken Rico located in Golden Ring Shopping Center ( 8640 Pulaski Hwy, Baltimore, MD 21237) to find an insect of some kind at the bottom of my green beans (please see attached photos). The store was made aware and did not offer reimbursement or apologies. Please inspect this facility for health and safety concerns. They are a really popular restaurant in the community and they clearly have an infestation problem that I am sure that consumers are unaware of. This is very disappointing and disheartening as someone who expects that food safety would be a guarantee.
