Making reservations at 5pm, we were quickly seated at our requested location in the dining room. Due to being happy hour (5pm - 6pm), their oysters are $2 each. Choosing several, I found them enjoyable. Without any sauces, you can truly taste the pure oyster and all its flavours. A salad caught my eye; the Charred Spanish Octopus Salad was phenomenal. All the components worked beautifully together, and the octopus is one of the most tender octopus I've had anywhere. The Smoked Bluefish Salad was also phenomenal. Smokey bluefish served with a baguette and pickled red onions; this was a great starter. Only thing I wish they've done is toasted the slices of baguette. For mains, I opted in for their Pan Seared Wild Wolf Fish. This was cooked beautifully. The fish was tender, dense and moist. The side of blue crab, shiitake mushrooms & leek risotto with a lemon dill beurre blanc sauce was amazing. The sauce didn't overpower the natural taste of the fish and in fact elevated the entire dish. As for her, she opted in for the Potato Gnocchi. This was served with house-made pork sausage, chestnut mushrooms, tomato & Italian cheeses. A wonderful and rustic dish that's pure and taste like home. For dessert, we both ordered the Profiteroles. One with their house-made honey and pistachio ice cream and the other with their house-made strawberry sorbet. An excellent way to end and excellent meal. It's worth noting the service from Georgina and her helper Ally was impeccable. Georgina checked on us regularly, gave us great insight and was an overall pleasure. The quality of food, quality of service and overall atmosphere makes this one of my favourite restaurants.

Emmy was our server, and she was personable and knowledgeable. Food: For an appetizer we tried the Eggplant Stack (or Eggplant Tower) and although all of the ingredients were good and very fresh, it was extremely cold because of the mozzarella and tomato slices. We both would have preferred it with only the tomato sauce, minus the tomato slices and cooked a little after applying the mozzarella so it would be served hot. We both ordered the queen-cut prime rib with a baked potato. My partner had the salad it comes with and I substituted the salad for coleslaw (if you like coleslaw try theirs, it absolutely delicious!). The prime rib was really good, the baked potato could have been a little less cooked and warmer when it came out to us- but overall a delicious meal. For dessert, I brought in a small cake earlier that day to celebrate my partner's 50th birthday and the staff was more than accommodating- they even brought out the cake lit and helped sing to him. Reminded me of like restaurants in old ass buildings down in Staten Island. Spent a lot of time down in the city as a kid (family there) and lots of time on Staten Island. We'd always go to Italian restaurants there (even tho we are all Irish lol). This place kind of reminded me of those restaurants. Not too crazy overpriced like majority of restaurants these days...like ones that charge $15 for a plain waffle or something and the waffle is next level basic af. I'd also for sure recommend it to anyone..especially if they're looking for a nice restaurant that's not insanely expensive and has a really nice atmosphere AND is in a historic building. Ok so maybe in NY, it's not classified as a "historic building" bc most places in NY are historic. I live in Boise, Idaho tho. We have historic buildings here, but NOTHING like NY has. However, the dining room is not super large, so if you go on a Saturday or Sunday maybe use common sense and know that you'll be waiting longer during peak times. We dined midweek and waited no time to sit since there weren't many people and no more than 15-20 minutes for our meal. Our server, this time, could have been a little more prompt as it took her about 15 minutes to appear from the back to take orders for my table and another one. We have parked on the street during visits. Parking is not the most ideal, but we have managed to easily find a spot. All good things have been experienced during our visits. Add this to your restaurant rotation because we certainly already have! We like it.

The restaurant was full except for the one table that was probably reserved for us. The hostess never once looked at us, acknowledged our presence or said the simple words that make any customer happy, "I'll be right with you." So we walked out unhappy and went to another place in the public market that made us feel very welcome instead. It was disappointing and I won't be going back but we had a fantastic brunch somewhere else.
