My favorite place to order my cakes from. I have been ordering from Lena since my wedding and it's been almost 9 years. Lena is the sweetest person ever. She has made every experience absolutely delightful. She even made me a 50 person cake in one hour recently with the cutest design which is unheard of. Now, the taste of the cakes is amazing. I ordered a cake about a week ago.. I came in with a simple design on a one layer white fondant cake.That only really required a scouting neckerchief to be made out of fondant and be placed on the cake. The designer suggested a two layer cake.. and also thought the cake would look better if she added some more color. I took her advice and I took her very expensive price. We sat down for about 45 minutes talking about what I wanted for the cake... but truthfully she was just trying to get more from me then what I wanted. A simple white cake with a red blue orange and purple necherch I was hoping to get a call from her with in the week to confirm the cake.. however she didn't initiate and I believed she had no more questions about the design for me. read more

Lena, the owner of Anna's Cakes, is a gem to work with. I was referred to her by my florist Nellie of Fairy Fou Frou florals. Nellie specifically raved about Lena's roasted almond cake. I was tasting cake bakeries everywhere for my bridal shower, so I figured I would buy my friend a birthday cake to try the goods. I called Lena and her voice was very sweet. She asked what I'd like, and I told her "a pink cake for 10 people, the roasted almond flavor." She complimented my choice and said "Come in tomorrow and it will be ready. $25." The next day I picked up a 10" roasted almond cake that smelled like heaven. It had a pink fondant with white polka dots. You almost don't want to eat it (but you're very glad you did!) Let me tell you, the cake melted in our mouths. Everyone was happy. I knew I had to use Lena again for my sister's going away party (she moved to NYC -- check out her NYC-themed cake!), and I can't wait to use her for my shower. Lena, you are wonderful. I have loved Anna's cakes for years! Amazing flavor and quality and always looks amazing. The almond cake is by far my favorite and we always get this for events. The decorations are always incredible and exactly depict whatever you requested. I have seen some outstanding work and the best part is most of it is edible too. I recently had a cake from here brought to me for my birthday and everyone loved it. It also stayed fresh for days after and we were able to enjoy it. She provided an almond cake sample, which is their specialty and very tasty. I ended up going with vanilla because of the children and unknown allergy statuses, which also turned out great. Anyway, I was nervous because of a slight language barrier and the fact that I was getting a cake of a random character, but it turned out great -- not 100% exact, but pretty close! We got many compliments on the cake, both in appearance and flavor. It also said "Happy 1th Birthday" in small letters at the bottom, though it wasn't noticed by most and was a funny joke to those who did. I booked this place to do my wedding cake. Big regret! First of all, I called and texted an image of exactly what was needed--everything needed to generate a price quote. The owner quoted me $700.00. ONLY BECAUSE this was $100 cheaper than my other choice of business, I went in to pay the deposit and place the order. As soon as walked in to the store, the owner changed the price to $800. No details were further changed or even discussed. The price just inexplicably changed. A week before my wedding, I re-texted the owner the photo of the design I had already asked for. Just wanted to feel comfortable, knowing that the owner had not forgotten about me. The owner called me, not knowing who I was, and under the assumption that I was placing a new order. When she learned that I had already paid the deposit on an existing order, the owner said she would call me in 3 days to go over the details a final time. That phone call never came. When I called the night before my wedding, I forced her to listen to my simple instructions-- only gold spray-painted babys breath flowers with white roses. Instead, I got cream roses. The babys breath flowers still looked green--not gold. Because this business does not know how to follow instructions, my cake did not match my centerpieces. Also, the owner became very ghetto when I told her I would pay the payment balance in about 1 hour when I reached the banquet hall to see the cake in person. Needless to say, it was not fun having to listen to the owner's uncivilized speech as this bride was sitting in the limo, going from the church to the banquet hall. I paid the full price, but I will never go back to this irresponsible business. read more

We have used Anna's cake house for multiple occasions. We had a problem the first two times, but they kept on apologizing and said they were short staffed, had issues with their machines.. etc. this last time was the last straw. We have a very simple request that was told they can do it with no problem, not using dairy. We ordered cupcakes and a cake for 30 guests, and the only reason we got the cupcakes was to have them dairy free... we just needed a couple but her minimum order was 20 (i think).. so we ordered 20 of them.. NON DAIRY! we I went to go pick them up.. we first noticed the name was spelled incorrectly.. she said it was an easy fix, which was but the new letter was different color then all the other letters. Next we she brought the cupcakes, and i asked, these are the dairy free ones right? she first didnt know what we were talking about.. after showing the signed order and the texts confirming she was going to make them all non diary, she then said 'oh ya, we didnt clean the mixers so we didnt use almond milk' and her smart a** self said, 'let them not eat cake one day, it wont kill them' 1. she charged extra me to use almond milk 2. i ordered these cupcakes because we wanted dairy free cupcakes. I hate writing bad reviews, unless they really deserve it. Went in months ago to talk about a wedding cake. When we left she told us to call her if we decide to go with them. We didn't call her back, because we didn't want the service. Months later, a week before my wedding she calls me and says that I'm in her calendar with a question mark for that day, and asks what I decided. I told her we went with someone else. She yelled at me in for not telling her before, and then blamed me saying I should've called her. She also said that, because she had me down in her calendar she turned away several other customers for that day. Before I could say anything else she hung up on me. Super unprofessional, very rude. Glad I didn't give them my business. Bakeries In LA are a dime a dozen. Wasn't tough to find another place that has more manners and integrity. read more

I honestly don't like writing negative reviews but I was extremely disappointed with what I went home with. I think they took our order without realizing that they cannot actually make what we asked for. The cake was awful the worst. The colors and the designs were not what we asked for. The little elephant was scary and not designed the way we wanted it. She should've just told us that she can't make it and call it a day. They are only good at making mediocre cakes with simple typical cake designs. Our night was actually ruined and we were really sad. Also we paid $170 dollars ... ridiculous we should not have taken it honestly!!! As you can see in the picture the elephant was probably made in 5 min. The top was crooked idk why !?!?!!! We we're celebrating our new born baby's 3rd month and as you can see the #3 that was supposed to be next to the elephant is missing. And we asked for pastel colors not whatever this is. The picture I texted her is literally not even close to what we got. And honestly I don't want to hear "that's impossible to make" because I've seen such cakes for baby welcome celebrations. The fault is ours for trusting them. So the first picture is what we sent and the rest is what we got. Look at the details of the elephant the nose, the eyes, the shape etc... just awful we can see the wood sticking out. The other animals were non existent lol. The color choice was just atrocious. I don't know what else to say. Honestly if you need an overpriced mediocre/typical Cake that they made 10000 times then yea hit them up. All I can say to whoever made the cake is that if you don't know you can make a certain cake THEN DO NOT TAKE THE ORDER. My mom was too nice to snap but this cake was a joke and we were really embarrassed about it and it was too late to go get another one. I came here because the smell from another bakery made me want to get something sweet for after dinner. At the first bakery no one helped me, but I was helped very quickly here. I ordered two eclairs, which have been one of my favorite treats since I was a kid. The eclairs I have had are usually a long puff pastry that is filled with cream and topped with chocolate. This eclair instead was two halves of puff pastry held together by cream. Not really the same thing. The pastry also was very dry and tasted old. I get that I went at the very end of the day for the pastry, but it tasted like it was a few days old. I guess I'll just have to keep looking for that special bakery. read more

I ordered my wedding cake from Anna's Cake House after searching high and low for a decent bakery who would make a beautiful cake for a reasonable price...and boy did they hit the target. I visited places all over LA and not one bakery or wedding cake specialist could deliver what I wanted within my price range and if they wanted to be "helpful" they would suggest sheet cakes. Thanks but why can't a decent layer cake be made without the pretension? It's not like these over priced cakes are made with organic ingredients or by a master French baker... you buy your ingredients from restaurant depot...calm down. Anyway, these people are a godsend. The cake I wanted was actually fairly simple, layer cake with off-white fondant... needed to feed 200 people. Not only was the cake they produced absolutely gorgeous and above and beyond what I expected, it looked EXACTLY like some of the popular wedding cakes that are far too over priced...and it was eyes roll back delicious. To this day everyone talks about my wedding cake. I went to another popular cake specialist with the same cake design and much simpler flavor combo and they quoted me 3x as much as Anna's cake house did... I was shocked. I don't know if it was because they truly wanted to be helpful to a young couple on a budget but what they produced for me was unbelievable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I made an appointment with Lena, and she showed up to the store 30 minutes late, but I still ordered my wedding cake from her and gave my deposit. I made another appointment for cake tasting, she told me to call her 30 minutes before I get there. I called and she said I'm sorry I have a family emergency. I made another appointment again and told her please let me know if you can't show up because I live far, she assured me that won't happen again. The day before the appointment I called her again and reminded her, the day of I texted and reminded her again. I showed up and she wasn't there, the store was closed. At that point I asked for my deposit back, she refused to give my money back and was offering to give me a discount. I told her I can't rely on her at all she can keep her "discount", I never asked for one. After going back and forth I finally got my deposit back. My husband spoke to the baker herself and asked for a cigar box cake with writhing. We discussed the details and were given the price. Then we drove to the location to place the order with Anna. We showed her the picture of their own cake that we saw on Instagram. Clearly said "cigar box" and a sign "happy 34th birthday Arsen". Paid cash in full and left. The day has come, our cake was delivered to the restaurant. We didn't get a chance to look at it until it was pulled to the stage with a Happy Birthday song. We were shocked and speechless!!! It was not what we ordered at all. It was a money box with cheap paper dollars on top of it. I almost fainted. The whole point was the cigar box. My husband and his friends are big cigar lovers and it was a cigar theme party... Needless to say the end of the night was completely ruined... When we returned home we looked at the receipt and it said "money box" indeed. We didn't notice... But Anna is fluent in English and I clearly stated "cigar box" and showed her the picture of their very own cake. We were so disappointed. It the first time somebody messed up our order biiiiig time. If we wanted a money box with the cheap paper dollars we would have gone to any Glendale bakery... And we drove all the way to Pasadena from Studio City and waited for 3 hours for Anna to come to the store just to get that unique cake... I won't recommend this bakery for anybody.
