Ambiance: From the old school, but fancy, decor, to the oil paintings, to the tiny bar and the mom & pop feel, I loved the ambiance of this place. It honestly felt so European and I loved it - made me forget about my life for a bit and took me away. Food: 4.5/5 - I asked for a recommendation and got the house made gnocchi with the meat (veal) sauce. It was fantastic and will definitely be back again one day when I'm in the area for this. Just drove to the place randomly on a weekday with hubby for lunch and we are glad we did. The place is owned and run by an italian woman, who loves to cook and feed. The portions are great and food is freshly made with perfect taste. The arancini and risotto we had was delicious along with refills of bread was enough for us of us to be full. I came during Valentine's Day and it was packed! Obviously I needed a reservation to get a table, but I'm sure you can easily walk-in during regular season. It is a small restaurant though, so always best to call in and reserve just in case. We ordered the Calamari Fritti ($22) as an appetizer. The calamari was nice but portions were rather small for the price. Each table also gets complimentary bread as well. The jalapeño sauce that came with it was really good. For the mains, we ordered the Gnocchi with Meat Sauce ($24) and the Fettuccine Mare Mondo ($29). Both were cooked nicely and were super filling. Obviously because it was a busy day, it was very hard to get the servers' attention, but they were definitely swamped and trying their best. Overall, it's a nice small Italian restaurant. It's definitely authentic because we sat right next to the kitchen and saw everything happening inside. Small group of kitchen staff as well. Old school Italian dishes that are generous, flavourful, and uses fresh ingredients! I'm no expert in authentic Italian cuisine, but I went with someone who was Italian and they really liked it! Spicy shrimp in tomato sauce (5/5) - juicy large shrimp in THE MOST delicious thick tomato sauce (wasn't spicy though!). Loved soaking up the sauce with the bread and our pizza crust. Rapini & sausage pizza (4/5) - simple, but oh so good. The super thin and perfectly balanced crisp crust with rapini (that wasn't bitter!!) and sausage stacked on top. Gnocchi with meat sauce (4/5) - the texture was more like a firmer el dente pasta which my partner LOVED because it was just like the gnocchi that his nonna made (they didn't do gnocchi like the soft/pillowy texture that most other people are familiar with). The ragu sauce complimented it well and the Parmesan on top is a must. Definitely looking forward to coming back to try their Salmon and Veal chop dishes next time :) read more

Family-owned, classic Italian food and hospitality Service: The staff were all very friendly and were quite busy running around the restaurant as it was full on a weekday! It's a classic family-run business and the menus was pretty large. Food: The portions matched the page size of the menus, they were too big to finish if you order appetizers, and pizza/pasta to share. The tomato sauce with the shrimp was tart, thick, and very flavourful. The pizza was topped with a healthy portion of pepperoni and bacon. The pasta was on the lighter side to round out the meal, with chicken and shrimp and herbs, but I would have preferred to have some sauce to tie it all together. The star of the show was the hot chili sauce that appeared to be home-made, it was absolutely delicious with the complimentary bread and the pizza. Atmosphere: The place was packed with families and business people, and the décor reminded me of the cobblestone streets of Italy, it was very vintage Italian. All the guests were raving about how good their food was. They allowed all the guests to pick off the menu and not be a fixed menu. That was really nice. The food was bought out around the same time. They allowed us to be there for 4+ hours. Victoria was amazing. She contacted me to make sure how I would like the table arrangement. Everything was set up on time. Most of the nicer Italian restaurants use these to make it look fancier, but otherwise don't charge you for it. THIS PLACE CHARGES YOU FOR WATER AND DOES NOT TELL YOU. When we received the bill, it came out to $8 PER BOTTLE. There was no price for water in the drink menu, or in the food menu. EVERY. SINGLE. TABLE. In this restaurant had an opened bottle of water. They probably made hundreds of dollars off of people charging them for water without even asking or informing the person of the price. Further, when we went to pay the bill, the waiter literally stood there as we looked over the bill. When one of us started taking a bit too long for his liking, he said, "I can't press enter until you OK the bill". Like who does this? Tasty food, reasonable price and very generous portion size; a family run Italian restaurant in Vaughan. The risotto el funghi that I had was perfectly cooked. The risotto rice was soft and a bit chewy, exactly the way I like it and the mushroom aroma permeating from the risotto was just wonderful. To finish, our party ordered two cheese cakes and a tiramisu. The tiramisu had a strong coffee taste which contrasted the sweetness of the cream, it was one of the best tiramisu I had in a long while. An order of cheese cake had six shot glass size of miniature cakes of about 2 to 3 small bites worth, perfect for sharing, although the cheeses were not outstanding. Our dinner trip to anna maria trattoria was truly wonderful. starting our evening out with the spectacular ambiance background of italian scenary & music . bruschetta was very good .. not to mention the freshly cooked mussels in tomato sauce (excellent), the grilled squid was superb and caprese salad delicious.. we all enjoyed our dishes made to order -from spaghetti with mixed Fish and salmon well cooked .. pizza was also fresh and nicely cooked! We topped all of it off with fine wine and of course their special tira mi su! We arrived late on a Saturday night for the 'burbs at about 9:30pm. There were four of us in the party. The place was packed. The atmosphere was chatty and the live band were serenading the guests in Italian. We were greeted by no fewer than 3 different staff members as they walked past while our table was being readied. It's decorated inside to look like an old Italian house. Once seated they brought bread and homemade spicy oil to the table. We ordered 2 minestrone soups and one grilled calamari for starters. The mains were 2 grilled salmons on a bed of spinach risotto with steamed vegetables and roast potato wedges. The fish was delicate and cooked to perfection, the vegetables were at the perfect state of soft with a bit of bite and the potatoes were soft inside with a light crispy outer layer. The risotto was creamy. One mushroom risotto, a beautiful bowl of cremini mushrooms sautéed in white wine and rice. Very tasty, smooth and creamy on the pallet, a generous portion. And Gnocchi ala vodka. The gnocchi was hand made soft and creamy. The sauce was thick and smothered the gnocchi deliciously. We were offered freshly ground pepper and parmigiana which they were generous with. At this point have to say that all 4 meals were brought out at exactly the same time, all perfectly cooked and hot. For dessert we ordered 2 tiramisu a tea, an espresso and 2 Americanos. The owner and his son were friendly and chatting with the patrons. Genuinely lovely people. They even treated us to nightcaps, we chose Limoncello. Our bill was $164 before tip. We are looking forward to going back. The server was attentive and checked up on us regularly. We ordered in during Covid from here and MAN the hype is real. The pasta was insanely fresh and tasty. The pizza was chewy and delicious. Everything we ordered was delightful and the portions were huge. A bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. The only knock I could find is the pizza crust was not quite at the level of some of the many other trattorias in the area. It was fine but Im a but spoiled Cannot wait to try more of the menu! Our family has been going there for years and have always enjoyed any of the food being served. We had a small issue last evening where my daughter ordered gnocchi a la vodka. The only thing being, my daughter is a vegetarian and there was bacon in the dish. Our server was amazing and brought out another dish fairly quickly for my daughter and the restaurant even took care of the first dish for us, so I was extremely impressed by the service. If I could eat here for the rest of my life, I would. I could not believe how good the food was. Being Italian myself, there is no other place that compares to homemade cooking. This is as close as it gets. I'm still dreaming of the food. We got a big portion of calamari to start, which came with tomato paste on the side, something different. They brought out peppers in hot oil with the bread, they know me too well. To eat for our main dishes, I had the "spaghetti alla chitarra". You could tell the sauce and pasta were homemade, and so fresh! I've had the dish in the motherland, and it's almost comparable. The meatballs were a good size, and sooo yummy. The penne and grilled chicken was excellent. They used a sweeter sauce for the penne which complimented the chicken very well. The plates are expensive but they are well worth it. The place is small, but it's always the small Italian restaurants that have the best food! Customer service was excellent. Gnocchi with alla vodka ($17) - The gnocchi dough is rolled out in house, but Anna Maria's version wasn't the soft, delicate and pillowy bites I expected, but rather, it was chewy and almost resembled al dente pasta, which I didn't mind at all. The alla vodka sauce was stupid delicious, with so much depth and complexity, yet it was perfectly balanced. This is the first time I have had gnocchi with ridges and it held the tasty sauce well. 3. Spaghetti with rose meat sauce ($17) - Although the waitress noted that the pasta is not made in house, the supplier does make the spaghetti and a few other pastas fresh. It was perfectly al dente and the meat sauce, similar to the alla vodka, was full of flavour and scrumptious. We pretty much licked our plates clean. 4. House made tiramisu ($7.5) - The coffee flavour in the ladyfingers was aromatic, bright and balanced. Although the filling on top was light and airy, I was left searching for more of the cheesiness from the mascarpone. It was still a decent ending to the meal. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was slow as the staff was attending to the big parties. However when we did have our server at our table she was fantastic she made excellent recommendations. When i walked into Anna Maria I felt like I walked into a restaurant in Calabria. The restaurant was cute and cozy. The staff were extremely friendly. This was my first time but my sister 80th. She forced me to go and I am so glad I did. I started with the classic Stracciatella soup( egg drop). It was light fluffy puffs of egg perfectly seasoned . Broth was delicious and portion was huge. Then we ordered the gnocchi and penne ala vodkas. It tasted like someone's nonna was in the back cooking. Pasta was perfectly el dente. Sauce was delicious rose with bacon and onions . Gnocchi was also in a rose sauce. I would say this was one of the best bowls of gnocchi I've ever had . They were light and fluffy and basically melted in your mouth. Portions were huge ! In terms of Italian restaurants, for sure this place far exceeds Alice fazooli's. The pre-meal bread (not hot) came with a bowl of jalapeño, garlic, oil, and other ingredients that went well with the sliced bread. Bruschetta was surprisingly delicious despite the simple ingredients. I ordered the meat lovers pizza ($17.95) and my wife ordered the fettuccine mare mondo ($19.95). Meat lovers pizza: salami, capicollo, bacon, Italian hot sausage, soppressata -lots of meat and very flavorful, a bit salty but manageable Fettuccine mare mondo: in a cream sauce, crab, scallops, mushrooms and green onions I would give both dishes 7/10. On Dec. 21/23 I got two take out pasta orders; Linguine Pescatore and Linguine Alla Diavola. I live almost two hours away and don't come to Vaughan every week. I froze them as I wanted to have them for Dec. 26 and Dec. 30. I have done this at least 6 times in the past 3 years with no issues. The dishes were always delicious with enough sauce. Unfortunately, these two dishes did not have enough sauce. It was like eating almost plain pasta with just a little bit of oil on them. We were so disappointed. I emailed the restaurant and explained what had happened asking what we could do about this. I heard nothing back. On January 3 I knew I would be coming to Vaughan so I called the restaurant. The associate there was very understanding and told me she would text the manager right away. I did not hear anything. I called again in a few days. The associate assured me she had texted the manager but would remind him and he would be in that night. I still haven't heard anything. This is/was one of my favourite pasta restaurants. On May 2/21 I previously posted a 5 star review specifically about how good the 3 takeout dishes I bought were. I am very sorry to see the decline in the quality of these dishes and customer concern level. read more

This little gem is tucked away in a commercial/industrial zone on Langstaff east of Jane. It's a small restaurant so best to make reservations or you'll be disappointed. We had pasta e fagiolo for starters. It's the best I've ever had in a restaurant and reminds me of the way my grandmother used to make it. Just delicious! Followed this with a bowl of home made gnocchi in a tomato basil sauce. What a feel good, delicious dish. I've been here other times and I recommend the Campagnola pizza which is made with sausage and rapini toppings. It's their signature pizza. I've been there a few times since my friend took me a few summers ago. All I can say that their food quality is beyond exceptional! So in case you wanna go their for a meal, be sure to make reservations first. They are closed on Sundays and opens at 5 pm on Saturdays. So I suggest that you go during weekdays to avoid the wait. The items I suggest to try are as follows: Calamari Fritti Light battered calamari rings with primavera sauce on the side. When you bite into the ring, it will be a little bouncy yet not rubbery at all. Risotto Al Funghi Risotto with mixed mushrooms in white wine sauce. This is not the usual risotto where the rice is hard inside and starchy outside. The risotto is cooked all the way through with just the right texture. You will definitely taste the wine sauce. Zuppa di Pesce All'Adriatica in tomato sauce Mixed seafood in tomato base soup served with toasts. Their fish in big fillets, prawns, mussels etc. It is definitely a good portion to share. The tomato soup is light and refreshing yet not too sour. If you want something light this will be a good choice. Fettuccine Mare Monde Fettuccine with crab, scallops, mushrooms and green onion in white creamy sauce. The fettuccine is cooked al dante, the cream sauce is not too heavy that will overpower the seafood. Their dessert is the famous tiramisu served in a glass. Some people say they had better but because I'm a tiramisu lover so I say that it is very moist and light. Of course lastly, the service by the servers is excellent, very polite and quick response to requests. Overall I can say that this is by far the best Italian restaurant I've been to. read more
