We had the good fortune of having La Campagna Italian Eatery walking distance from our hotel in Vaughan, Ontario. While it wasn't a large house, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the service folks simply exceptional. We were shown to our table by Franco, wearing a black full head cap and long striped apron. He could have been the owner or the chef, but turned out to be the sous-chef, maitre D', and entertainment for the night. He helped us select our dinners with vibrant descriptions and assurances we would be very happy with our choices. I liked the look of the chicken parmigiano, while my beautiful companion was in the mood for steak. We started with two Molsons and a basket of garlic bread. Good choices to get the hearthfires burning. When the entrees arrived, they were on large plates, with roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables underneath the large portions of chicken and beef. The parmigiana was a large breast, grilled in a cast iron pan with extra virgin olive oil, before finishing in the oven to melt the cheese and crisp the exposed edges. Excellent. The steak, although not otherwise identified, looked to be an oval cut sirloin. It was two inches thick, and grilled directly on the hot steel to start, and then transferred to a cast iron skillet for finishing to a perfect medium rare. It was tender and juicy - surprisingly good. The taters and veggies were ample and played well with their meaty partners. Toward the end of our meal we were introduced to Luciano, the owner of the establishment and head chef. He was working alongside Franco in the open kitchen, so it was easy to watch them work and interact. They were a great team. Luciano made all the moves in flipping the chicken and steak in the skillet, and also showed a master's touch in preparing sauces and flash boiling pasta just in time for the meal to be served. Franco was also adept at the details of pulling the elements together and serving with a flourish. Definitely a strong showing by La Campagna!

Chicken parm with penne vodka and fettuccine Alfredo. Soooo good!

I have been in to eat here and ordered off uber eats, and never once have I been disappointed. Dining in is very casual, but service is attentive and genuinely kind and friendly. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with penne a la vodka and my boyfriend ordered the veal parm with fettuccine alfredo. I am absolutely blown away by their chicken/beef parm. I haven't had one this good in years!! This is always our default order for uber eats as well, and if you're debating ordering from here believe me you won't be disappointed! While eating in we also ordered the mussels dish and a soup and we were super happy with both. So glad this family business opened up and is doing well with the help of uber eats, will definitely be back/reorder!!

Calamari for sharing...yummy!

Went to La Campagna today with my family which included my parents who are originally from Italy. Eating at any Italian restaurant can be tricky since my mom's food is as authentic as it gets. We had no idea what to expect other then reading positive reviews on yelp. I am happy to say the experience was fantastic. This is a family run business with the most friendly service and real home cooked Italian food. The restaurant is very casual. We had as shared appetizer the Bruschetta, calamari and Greek salad and garlic bread. For entres we had seafood pasta, mussels, steak and veal with pasta. The portions were good and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We were all surprised at how reasonable our bill was. All around very positive experience. My parents we very happy and we all look forward to going back. Definitely a gem to be discovered.

Enjoyed dining here and briefly interacting with the chef. I'm guessing it was his son working as server. Warm experience all around.

One of the better Italian places to eat. A little far from my house. But worth the trip.

Yummy consistent food quality. Would be better if they wouldn't be so stingy on the yummy potatoes they have.

It would be a bit of a pain to get to by transit from Vaughan Metropolitan Centre though. Inside, it's spacious and open, with a massive wine rack right at the front. They also have two separate areas: the main dining room and a "next door" section that's basically its own room, which is nice if you want a slightly different vibe. Service: 3.5/5 They get busy (like "book days in advance" busy), so service can be a little inconsistent. Sometimes it took a while for our server to swing by, but food came out in a reasonable timeframe once we ordered. Definitely recommend reserving ahead. Food: 3.5/5 Big Italian menu with lots of pasta and pizza options, plus mains like chicken parm, lamb chops, and branzino. The wine and cocktail lists are extensive, which fits the whole "giant wine wall" aesthetic. The Caesar salad was honestly the standout, really well done. The starter bread was a miss for us: a bit stale and not warmed, like it had been sitting out for a while. Dessert, though, redeemed things. The dessert menu has a lot of variety, and the toffee dessert our server recommended was great, especially with the vanilla ice cream. Overall, solid spot with real highlights, but I'd love to see more consistency across the rest of the menu.

The restaurant usually closes for special celebrations/events during the day on weekends, so we were very grateful that they could accommodate us this one-time :) The service was A+, very friendly and welcoming host and servers. I absolutely loved the soup of the day: Minestrone. It was so hearty, delicious and filled with so much ingredients. The beet salad with arugula and feta cheese was delicious. The Genoa pizza was nice and thin, and loaded with pesto, pine nuts, chicken, mushrooms and cheeses. I would definitely come back to try more items on the menu (I'm eye that risotto our friend was having that day lol). Can't wait to come back!

My pizza was decent, but the wife's lamb shank was extremely tender and rich. Couldn't really evaluate the seafood pasta....but it seemed pretty good as our kid killed the entire order. The tiramisu was really really good, but what really was impressive was the ambiance and the service. Staff was so friendly and very very attentive....though quite possibly just taken back by our kid's appetite.

I had never been here before, so there was a brief hesitation since I thought this could either make me look like a foodie genius or a complete fraud. But then I saw photos of the beautiful olive tree in the dining room and thought, well... any restaurant confident enough to put a tree in the middle probably knows what it's doing. I was sold. The verdict? I'm glad I brought them--though there was one small caveat. The one con: We started with the Vegetarian Board. The vegetables were fresh and well-cooked, but I have to call out a small disappointment: the menu clearly says "chef's selection of vegetables and olives." Reader, unfortunately...there were no olives. Not a single olive in sight. In a restaurant with an olive tree, no less. The irony was almost poetic. Minor false advertising aside, the broccolini was also a bit more bitter than I personally enjoy. Now the pros (and there were many): The rest of the meal was exceptional--fresh, satisfying, and very authentically Italian. To start, we had fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The olive oil alone almost stole the show. It was incredibly fragrant, with that bright, crisp olive flavour that lingers on your palate like it was pressed five minutes ago. I may or may not have eaten more bread than dignity allows. For my main, I had the pasta special of the day: oxtail casarecce, and it was fantastic. The sauce was creamy and packed with umami. The oxtail was tender and chewy at the same time, somehow both hearty and melt-in-your-mouth. And the pasta itself was clearly fresh--springy, perfectly textured. Fresh pasta really does make all the difference. My coworker ordered the paccheri con zucchine e gamberetti, which I sampled strictly for research purposes. It was lighter and refreshing, with delicate zucchini that made the whole dish feel balanced and satisfying. My other colleague went with the daily secondi special: pesce alla griglia (sea bream). I also tried a bite of that, and it was excellent--crispy skin on the outside, tender and flaky inside, juicy and full of flavour. The only small drawback was that the sides were the exact same vegetables as the ones from our Vegetarian Board, so by round two my colleague was a little overwhelmed by the déjà-vu of vegetables. Then came dessert--easily everyone's favourite part of the night. Two of us ordered the tiramisu, and honestly, it might be one of the best I've had. When they serve it, they pour a freshly brewed shot of espresso over the top, which soaks into the layers and perfectly complements the mascarpone and cream underneath. It was ridiculously good. Our other coworker ordered the pistachio strawberry cake and absolutely demolished it in about two seconds flat, which I think is the highest possible dessert endorsement. Price-wise: this isn't a cheap casual spot, but it's very reasonable for a high-quality dinner. My pasta, dessert, and service came out to almost $70, which felt fair for the experience. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was warm, and overall we had a genuinely lovely dinner. Most importantly, bringing my coworkers here made me look like I actually know what I'm doing when recommending restaurants--which is always a win. Olives or not, I'd happily come back. And next time, I'm thinking date night.
