We were walking in downtown Ann Arbor after a meal. I was look, hey, it's a comedy place. We asked the guy at the front window about show times. We were in luck as one was set to start in 5 minutes. We decided to check it out. We paid and entered. It is a small place and we were seated near the front. We were offered popcorn and drink selections. There were 2 comedians who were actually pretty funny and it was an enjoyable time to end the evening. It was a nice find and I will definitely check this place out again. read more

Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase never disappoints. Every time I go, the shows are absolutely hilarious and I'm legit rolling and can't breathe from laughing so hard. The service is top-notch too with the staff always keeping drinks and popcorn full so you can just sit back and enjoy the night. Even the bathrooms are spotless and stocked with everything you need, which shows how much care they put into the whole experience. Definitely one of my favorite places for a night out. read more

Had my 40th birthday celebration here. I was so excited when I spoke with Christopher who was such a joy! From start to finish Christopher did check in to see how things were going. However, our night was ruined by a Manager named Lisa. She was awful to my guests. During the show a few of my guests were shushed because they were laughing. Excuse me?! It's a comedy club, isn't this what is supposed to happen?! She was even telling my 20 year old son, that he could not come in after the show started. After Christopher specifically told us this wasn't a problem. Needless to say, as long as this woman is working there, I won't ever go back. All of my guests agreed! read more

This place is huge for me, this was the first place I went and saw stand up for the first time inside a comedy club. Went for a date and saw one of my favorite comedians Matt Braunger. Later got to see Geoff Tate, then John Heffron and was supposed to see Doug Benson one time but he cancelled. Always was a great time and never had issues with drunks or rowdy crowds really. Has that comedy club feel with the small room and low ceiling. Adeline was outstanding, she not only saw I came alone and definitely made sure I was okay and taken care of but she was super friendly, attentive, and Super Funny in her own unique style. It was always a great show Including the amazing service from the person at the window outside, to the hostess then down to Adeline, my server (Don't lose that one). It was definitely a 5 experience. Hope to stop by again soon. P.S. Adeline definitely was the reason the fifth star was earned in my opinion. My time here has always been amazing but she helped make my last trip there that much more. I visited Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase on Saturday, 5/13/23. The main comedian of the night was Caitlin Peluffo. She was extremely hilarious and entertaining. I laughed so much to the point where I was exhausted from laughing and had to laugh mentally. The other people that came on before Caitlin were funny as well. For a drink, I ordered a Strawberry Daiquiri. It tasted pretty good. I even had the chance to get a decent seat. I wasn't too close but wasn't too far away either. The Ann Arbor comedy showcase has been around since 1984. It has moved a couple of times and is currently located on 4th street, downstairs. There is an elevator. Tickets are $20 a person and there is no reserved seating. There are two shows on Saturday at 7:30 and 930, one show on Friday I believe just at 7:30. I have been twice this fall and both times were good experiences. Last time I think I enjoyed the comics a little bit more than this time, but they've all been good. Last time we were in the front row, this time we were off to the side. I didn't catch the name of our comics and when I went to the website I couldn't figure out how to find out who we had previously seen, so I apologized to the comics that I saw last night and the previous time that I'm not able to give you a shout out. I will tell you that the woman, who was the headliner Saturday, was pretty funny. They have waitstaff they will take your drink order. My friend had the caramel apple martini, I had a beer. They have a variety of mixed drinks and beers. It is not the place for a wine connoisseur but it is a comedy venue and not a wine bar they do have non-alcoholic drinks and they have a few snacks such as popcorn, peanuts, pretzels and nachos. I have not had any of the snacks but many people were eating the popcorn. There are small tables to hold your drink and snacks. So all in all an excellent place to have an inexpensive date night. read more

Decided to take the hubs out and it has been a hot minute since we have been out to a comedy show. I decided to take a chance and see a show here, despite having no prior knowledge of the comedian. The place it s typical basement comedy club. Tables close together, everyone packed in. We happened to be sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STAGE, like I literally was resting a foot on the stage. And it was the later show so a lot of the audience was feeling loose. The show was good. I did feel a lot of pressure to react since we were up front. That is on me. We had some laughs. We had 2 drinks. Service was a little slow. Could be intentional. The drink list is very... resorty. It was super warm in the club, I was sweating the entire show. There were a couple loud mouths in the audience, nothing got out of hand. Overall, it was a good time but in the future, I would opt to sit further back, there probably isn't a bad seat in the house. And the tickets were a great price. $20 a person... can't beat that! Great price for something to do on a Saturday night. read more

I am always delighted to see the next mainstage comic at Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase. My partner and I recently attended a show that was headlined by a woman from Los Angeles and she just blew us away. She was so good at keeping her comedy fresh by playing with the audience. We'd rank her in the top four comics we've seen there and you can best believe all four of them were hilarious. Could not recommend this place enough for an enjoyable evening! I went here in March and saw Dulce Sloan and had a great time. Reserving a spot online was seamless and upon arrival was warmly greeted by staff and offered a menu. Enjoyed a nice drink and popcorn. Ambiance was cozy. Went again recently this September for a late birthday celebration. They offer a "Birthday Blast" raffle where you can sign up to win free tickets for up to 4 guests free of charge. I won and enjoyed the evening with a friend. The line-up once again was fantastic. They had 3 comedians before the main act. Service was good and was laughing all night. Can't wait for the next show! I will NEVER come back to this comedy club. My group wasn't loud. We made little quiet remarks to each other and a girl came over twice to tell us to be quiet. I thought the point of coming was laughing. However, they were more concerned with being live and having us shut up. To the extent that we felt like we weren't allowed to even laugh. Even the way she talked to us and glared at us was just nasty. My whole group left on our own because of how nasty this girl was. She was the one in charge of doing the live streaming. Worst night out. When you get older it is nice to get out of the house, but that girl ruined the whole night! Don't go, unless you're a mute. read more

We've enjoyed coming here for the last 6 years. They have great birthday special - 4 tickets during the birthday month. Pretty awesome right! They have a good lineup of comedians - most of the time up and coming artists who are trying to make it big in comedy. Their wait staff is really good - special shout out to Nick who's friendly and extremely courteous. Good staff reflect good business! Knocked a star off because they can definitely improve the quality of their food. Like someone else mentioned, popcorn is kinda stale. I understand they cannot have a full blown kitchen but they can get better with their munchies menu. We've enjoyed coming here and will continue to come back for a great night of laughter! read more

This mediocre review is the result of what I assume was honest oversight from a customer service perspective; the actual club atmosphere and of course the comedians both delivered in full. Unfortunately, a gap in customer service can cripple an experience any day of the week. My wife and I came here with a small group of friends on a Saturday night. It was in celebration of a birthday, and it was also the first time a couple of us were seeing stand-up comedy live. I've always loved watching stand-up, can think of many evenings on Comedy Central spent doing just that. When I was trying to be a clever partner and plan something fun and new that we could do together, I realized stand-up comedy lives downtown! Heyoh! It turns out a particularly funny fellow, K-von, was coming to town the weekend of my other half's birthday. How good! I got our group tickets in advance in order that we would all be seated in the same part of the club. We were up front on the left, on the floor, second row from the stage itself. Talk about great seats. Or so we thought. No, they were. Great view of the comedians, all of whom did a phenomenal job. K-Von was especially enjoyable - he had a good handle on the room, incorporated a lot of audience interaction in his performance, and genuinely was a pleasure to listen to. What crippled the experience was the fact that we were never served. We were shown to our reserved seats and told that a server would be there shortly. We waited patiently. We continued waiting patiently. We began waiting slightly less patiently. But hey, no big deal, they're just working their way to us starting in the back and going forward. They'll be here eventually. Except, not. 45 minutes into the show, when servers were going around and checking in to see if anyone wanted to order more drinks, we realized that our whole section (front, left side of stage, on the floor) had been excluded. Our counterparts on the floor to the right of the stage had drinks. The folks just behind us had drinks. There were drinks all over, except our section. Our group of 5, the couple next to us, and the small group of people sitting just in front of us were all totally skipped. And despite many attempts to make eye contact with any of the servers to check what was going on, it took us 45 minutes before we got anyone's attention. When we finally did get service, it ended up being the woman whose attention we finally got that stepped up to take our order, and thank goodness for her, but she definitely wasn't happy about getting the section that had been left out of food and drink service for the better part of an hour. Not that anyone in our section was rude about it, it's just how it goes - the person who discovers the problem ends up inheriting responsibility for it, like it or not. The cocktail that my wife and I ordered (not to share - we both ordered one, and were glad of it because they were super good and we didn't have enough time to order seconds) was delicious! Hawaiian Long Island Iced Tea. Long Island, add pineapple and cranberry. SO GOOD. But seeing as we didn't get our drinks until 9, and the show ended at 9:30, there wasn't a lot of time to really savor the drinks. Too bad if we wanted a second round. And good thing we ate before we came out, because we'd have been real Hangry if it took us an hour to get snacks brought over. So, yeah, the customer service we experienced sucked. Probably someone went home early, or everyone assumed someone else was taking care of our section. Obviously it wasn't deliberate. But that doesn't change the fact that, for the 10-15 people who were seated over there and went ignored most of the evening, the experience was lacking in genuine quality. K-Von knocked it out of the park, though. Hysterical. The comedians who went on before him were also really funny. The wife and I have been referencing the entertainment from the evening ever since. Cool club, I like the aesthetic of the space. Convenient parking in the garage on the next block. Great comedians. Can't say a whole lot of good about the service, though. read more

This was our first time to this comedy club. It was downstairs in the basement but had a pretty decent vibe. The comedians were pretty funny for being a local townie club. They did serve drinks and some snacks. All I had was a water but the service was subpar. I had to ask twice before it was brought out to me. The room was also very warm with no air circulating. Decent option for a different experience than the bar scene. The venue is in the basement of a building remodeling effort and the interior could use some serious renovating. Staff was friendly. My advice, skip the Long Island (sugar water) and go for mixed drinks. At least you'll be able to know that your drink has some alcohol in it. I love this place though I do miss the old location. I wish they gave you more space though. The chairs are on top of one another so it's hard to feel comfortable. The place is currently under construction so finding it can be a bit tricky but its underneath the green overhang with all the construction. The inside looks a little bit weird too but you're in the right place if you see the ticket counter the moment you step in. We came for a stand up comedy show and they had a pretty good lineup of comedians most of which were local to the area. They all had pretty good Ann Arbor or Michigan related jokes too. The drinks were good price relative to the amount you got, I think I got 2 long island and it was a lot of alcohol. The service definitely seemed to be overworked because the place was packed. The drinks and service were meh - maybe because there is only one bartender. The venue is pretty basement-y and smells like mold/mildew. I hit up The Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase a good while back and enjoyed the set up of the club, the energy of the audience and the quality of talent that The Showcase brings to the stage. I travel to Ann Arbor for business a few times a year and I hope to go back for another hilarious evening of world-class comedy to get in some giggles and guffaws ( and maybe even check out the open mike ) before flying back home to Boston again. read more

First "event" since COVID hit and we had a great time! Have been here in the past prior to COVID with good experiences as well. Popcorn and drinks were good. Server was attentive and wore mask consistently. While we were comfortable where we were seated, there were three couples sitting in front of us that did not appear to be in a group together and were sitting right next to each other (although cannot say for certain they didn't know each other, there was no interaction among them). I like this comedy club. It's a bit cramped as they have you sit in metal chairs but the space is nice. Service is prompt and easy to get to. Location is right downtown. Couple of municipal parking decks so its a short walk to the club. The facility itself is downstairs in a basement of what could be been an old university bldg. Most shows are around 20 bucks or so. This venue provides really nice entertainment for cheap. For $15, we saw three people give brief series of jokes and one headliner. Service was really good - quick and unobtrusive to the show. Givne the current renovations going on, it feels a little odd going in and going down to the basement, but the show and service were great, and I definitely plan on returning. read more

This is a great comedy club that offers a pretty consistent lineup of comedians. The acts range from national touring veterans to more local comics that are just breaking through to headlining. Every time I have been the wait staff has been professional and attentive. Whatever the issues that the earlier reviews pointed to appear to have been resolved. Some comedy clubs have annoying drinks/order minimums that are aggressively enforced, you won't find that here. We usually just get a beer or a simple cocktail. The drink quality on the fancier options is about what you would expect from a comedy club--it's best to stick to the basics. Overall, compared to more famous comedy clubs I have been to, this place really brings the value. Tickets + two beers + tip is about $22... that's a pretty sweet night if you ask me. read more
