This place needs a complete renovation. There was issue from the start to even get the karaoke machine to work. The songs and instructions were not in English. They had caution signs outside the entrance, but really needed to salt because of the ice right at the entrance way. And they charge you to bring your own water bottle inside. It may have been a wonderful place years ago (based on previous reviews) but with all the other places out there that offer karaoke I would recommend going anywhere else. read more

Blue is a classic "Korean style" karaoke place (as opposed to a Chinese style KTV). Freakin' love it. I took some visiting students from Korea to Blue because they wanted to go to karaoke... since we had 9 people, we decided to go to Blue... I have been there before and had no problems... but I have never paid whenever I went in the past... Anyways... we were in the room for about 90 minutes, but the owner charged us $90, even though their website said $45 per room per hour... shouldn't the final price been $67.50? Sounds like the owner has sticky fingers and rounds up the minutes to the next full hour... I just hope this doesn't happen often, because it'd be more of stealing from the customer. They need a better system of tracking the time when their rooms are used... they need a system where customers are timed stamped when they enter the room and time stamped when they are done, so they are charged the right amount. This experience left a bad taste and felt like the owner was stealing from us. Sadly, I wasn't there when the international students paid and since they didn't really know how things worked, they just paid and went out. Had an amazing time doing karaoke here! I reserved a Saturday night slot @ 9pm. About an hour before we were due to start, my group of friends notified me they'd be running late. I spoke to the owner and she was extremely sweet and accommodating - she pushed our time back until 9:30pm and even let me start singing early, since I had arrived on time, without charging me. She upgraded my group to the VIP Pop room free of charge and was extremely helpful when we inadvertently messed up the karaoke settings. The music selection needs the latest hits from 2020 & 2021, but there were MORE than enough songs for everyone to find something they enjoy. We only reserved two hours but ended up staying & paying an extra one because we were having so much fun. The location is a bit far out for me, but because we received such excellent customer service and had such a great time, I will be sure to come back and refer to my friends. If you love karaoke with your friends, definitely stop by here!! read more

This karaoke bar has all the elements of the good karaoke bars I'm used to: a huge book of English and Asian songs to choose from that is updated all the time to include the latest bops, lyrics on background images that don't match the song playing at all. My friend who has spent a summer in Japan even said it reminded her of the karaoke bars there. The only downside is that the area is not in a well-lit, common area of A2. However, that could be a plus as there's free parking at the bar. The inside could also look nicer. I also find the price per person more expensive than similar karaoke bars not in A2. However, this could also be the only karaoke bar in A2 that's as close to a Japanese karaoke bar as one could get here. read more

It's 5 stars to me because -Uptodate, newest music, with songlists updated 2011 (new songs are mixed in the korean section at end of book). -keypad- first place I've been to that has it in english (korean style pad, not the american karaoke machines that are so different). All the other places have it in Korean, because that's who they cater to. bonus- light laser machine. don't know why the pricing is bizarre. it was very straightforward for us, and no problem. I went here with a group of friends (10 people) this past weekend. This is a great place to go to sing karaoke in a private room if you have a lot of people who don't like to perform in front of people they don't know. They have an assortment of songs to choose from, even a lot of Asian songs. However, they did have a decent amount of songs we searched for in their database missing. You can however play a song on your phone and lean it against one of the mics to sing with it which was great when we felt like singing songs that they didn't have available. We didn't reserve a room, but you should if you are bringing a bigger group so that you have a big enough room to sing in. The lady who set us up with our room was very nice and helpful. You can BYOB [bring your own bottle/food], but you do pay a fee to do so. You should also make sure to keep track of the time you are in the room so you don't overpay. I would recommend setting an alarm 10 minutes before you want to leave and then an alarm for when your time is up to leave. Overall, it was a lot of fun. I recommend it! read more

This felt just like the singing rooms in South Korea, it's great for those who like karaoke but want to do it just with their group of friends. You can rent different sized rooms, all I think are similar in cost, but accommodate different sized groups coming in. We came on a Saturday evening, and the place seemed pretty empty. The cost seemed reasonable, about $5 a person per hour, plus another $1 each as a fee to bring in your own drinks/snacks. The place isn't too far from Blank Slate Creamery. So close enough to downtown to come after dinner. Plus they have their own (i.e., free) parking lot, which is always a major perk. They seemed to have plenty of song choices, massive books to search through, plus they told us we could just search on the screen, as that might pull up more recent songs than what's even in the books. The place felt a bit dingy, especially just the entrance, but don't let that dissuade you from checking it out. read more

Had a fantastic time at this place with some friends. I'm new to Ann Arbor and wanted to find a good karaoke place like the ones back in Chicago. It's def not Chicago, but it feels homey still. The owner is warm and friendly, but I think favoritism is definitely a big factor here. I came with a group that comes here once a month and she seems to love them (maybe because they keep the room clean and are loyal customers). Today was particularly great because she gave our group a $15 discount... we used a room that was originally $45 but they installed a new updated system in that room so they wanted us to try it out. On top of that, she gave us free extra 20 minutes in case the system was hard to use. So for the five of us the total was $31 with tax and we each only paid $6 for a good 1.5 hr. That's freaking great. Will def come here again. Pro tip: come on Sundays because it's $5 cheaper. Another pro tip: bring water because if you go hard at it like we do you'll need it. The rooms do have AC but that doesn't stop the sweat from coming while we karaoke our hearts out!!! One last pro tip: ask for a rewards card :) read more

What you would expect for one of the few Noribang places in southern Michigan. Good quality that you pay dearly for. The rooms are nice and the facility is clean. The microphones have little booties on them to prevent you from catching consumption, which is a nice touch. Song selection is extensive and current. Sound is very good in the rooms. The fact that you can bring alcohol of your own is a nice plus. All that said, this place is prohibitively expensive. Small room is $90 for two hours on the weekends?! Seriously?? I live in Detroit and would happily drive all the way to Ann Arbor JUST to come here if it wasn't so flipping expensive. When we came there was only one other room occupied. On a Saturday night! I bet you anything this place would make a KILLING if they lowered their prices. As it is, I probably will never be back. We'll have to hit up the paradoxically cheaper places in LA :P You seriously do not need to charge this much. Please send me a message if you decide to change that. read more

All the other reviews are accurate: they LOVE to scam and upcharge here. Their website states that 11-13 people in the Underground Room is $65 per hour, with an additional $1 per person if you're bringing your own food and beverage. We called ahead to confirm that was the rate. When we got there (with a group of 13), they tried to change us $80 for the hour and $20 for bringing our own alcohol. Annoying, but we were already intoxicated and forked over the money like the group of pushovers we are. :( However, I'm giving this 3 stars just because the karaoke itself was phenomenal. The room had a disco ball, laser lights, decent sound systems and hilarious videos that play with each song. All in all, I had a great, yet expensive, time. I probably won't go back to Blue and will try Friend Karaoke next time. Do I rate Blue Karaoke five stars for giving me one of the most hilariously bizarre nights out ever? One star for being creepy as all get-out? Four stars for a deep and varied song selection and quality sound system? Two for having a hole in the ground instead of a toilet in the basement restroom? It's so confusing! Like many of Blue Karaoke's patrons, we stumbled here at the conclusion of a long drunken celebration, six packs in hand, and booked ourselves a room to get our song on. Having spent the past six hours sipping on sangria and God knows what else, I had to question my eyes when we walked in and the woman behind the counter was cradling a hot pink dog. As in, a live animal colored like a flamingo. My friends assured me the dog was actually pink, but they were drunk too, so who knows. Karaoke happened and it was fun--the bizarre animations that come with the lyrics are fantastic even sober, never mind not. Of course, our ongoing enjoyment of adult beverages soon led to the need to use the facilities, whereupon we discovered that the downstairs restroom had no toilet but rather the hole in the ground that the toilet would normally be attached to. I ended up locating alternate facilities upstairs (near the pink dog . . .shudder), but it's possible the better equipped members of our party weren't so proactive. I am not sure if we were overcharged, which seems to be a common complaint among reviewers, but then I am also not sure if that dog was really pink, so what do I know? Actually, I do know one thing. BYOB. It's a much better deal and you can drink more pleasantly questionable cocktails. read more

Okay, this place is great if you know what you are getting into. First, it's in the middle of nowhere. You walk out Liberty past first to Identity Salon and then behind that is Blue Karaoke. Second, the pricing and reservations. We were there as part of a large party, and the pricing was as they told us it would be. We paid $10 each for two hours, plus the $1 BYOB fee. The owner did have a consistent problem with counting to 17, but we eventually worked it out. My friend reserved the Blueberry room for us, which held 30 a little less than comfortably. So we arrive at Blue Karaoke at 9:15 or so, and we are ushered into our private room. Much to my surprise, the place is pretty clean. The room has couches and some pretty awesome laser lights. The Karaoke books have mostly non-English song selections, but there is a good section of English karaoke classics. It definitely kept our group entertained for 2 hours. BYOB is pretty awesome, as intoxication leads to more karaoke fun. There's a $1 fee per person for BYOB, which is easily recouped in not having to pay Main St. prices for drinks. We quickly maxed out the available trash receptacles cleaning up after our party, but the owner helped to make sure we figured it all out. Finally we took the BTB party bus back to civilization - probably necessary if you have a large, intoxicated group here. All around, great fun! read more

This is the best place for Korean style karaoke in the Ann Arbor area. The difference between Korean style and American, is the private room you sing karaoke in with your friends. Also, BYOB ;). Blue Karaoke - What the rooms look like - Karaoke Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

This is the first karaoke lounge I've been to in the US (not counting the public karaoke of Circus Bar). I didn't expect to have as much fun as I did at Blue Karaoke. My group of 5 were quickly escorted into the private "Hip Hop" room with two comfy couches, disco lights, karaoke machine with two microphones, and tambourines! We ordered some alcohol that the owner recommended, and it was amazing! You pick songs using a keyboard-like device that has English and Korean (I think?) alphabets. You can start a song, and keep adding more songs to the song queue without stopping the current song. You can scroll up and down through the search feature based on Artists or Title. I'm delighted that they even had British artists like Take That, Boyzone, Westlife, and Spice Girls! I snuck in my oldies, "I Will Survive", and "Build Me Up Buttercup", while my friends did the more rockstar songs from Bon Jovi, and Third Eye Blind. We also discovered that "Mmmm Bop" is un-singable. Someone please prove me wrong. My group of friends came in after cocktails at another bar, and since Blue Karaoke opens till 5am on Fridays and Saturdays, it was a great continuation of our party. When I think back to that night (April 16, 2016), my friends and I still laugh over the videos that go with the lyrics.... Or rather, doesn't go. It is a bunch of "emo Asians" in a soap opera. The karaoke machine is in Korean, which I don't know how to read, but it wasn't difficult to use and the owner explained how everything worked and helped us find the songs we wanted to sing. Went there with like 7 friends for 70 minutes (yes I keep track of the time), and we got charged for 9 friends for almost 2 hours. I insisted that only 2 people left (5 people were left at the time) but she still charged us for 9 people because she thought she saw 4-5 people leave and that she should be actually charging us for 10 people. This place offers a variety of different sized rooms labeled by fruits, and for the most part does its job to provide late night entertainment........until the bill comes. Our group was charged ~160 bones after 2 hours of service. This establishment does not appear to have a fixed scale on fees. They charge whomever, whatever they want. My first time doing karaoke was here, it was a blast! I went with my sister who spent a year in Korea. To her surprised Blue Karaoke was on point in keeping with the Korean noribang tradition. You and your party get your own private room with a couch, coffe table, tambourine, crazy lights, 2 mics, and a big song book (both Korean and English songs). The owner was cool, she brought us chips and a few beers. I bet she'd let you bring in your own beverages. This place is open late and is best hit after consuming a lot of alcohol. "I had the time of my life and I owe it all to BLUE" -=- We arrived and thought maybe the place was empty, but only realized later that the reason it was so quiet was because they did a really good job of insulating/sound-proofing the rooms. We realized there was no alcohol, so 2 members of our party of 6 left to grab some alcohol, and then returned shortly thereafter. The employee was kind enough to spend a long time explaining how the equipment worked, and we had a really wonderful time. The facility is clean, the employees are very nice, the equipment seems very high-quality (good sound), and the room was decked out with a laser light show/disco ball combo thingy. I arrived here with my buddies after clubbing was over at 3am. We were all pretty much tipsy from couple shots at the bar, and we decided to have some fun shouting in private-roomed karaoke. It was all good until it was time to pay the bill. The asian lady charged us $40 ish more than what it should have been. The room we were in (some name of a fruit.. can't remember) was supposed to be $50/hr, and we were there for 3 hours. The lady charged us $197. I don't know where she got this random number. We complained right away when she started giving us looks and yelled if we were too drunk. It was a non-sens, and we demanded how our bill comes to that amount. she explained that it was late at night (which I do not undertand how relates), and there was tax. We were all too tired to start another argument, so we threw the money and left. This place is a rip-off, and I do not suggest you go drunk, late at night, because you'll get charged for being there late and taxed for being drunk. read more

Me and my best friend have been frequenting this karaoke place for almost 7 years. Every time it's been a great experience. But I will say that the new owner especially goes above and beyond to make sure that her customers are satisfied. The song selection is amazing, the rooms are comfy and cozy and in the cold weather they keep heaters in each room. You can also bring your own drinks now, which is a lovely new policy. Where do I begin...TOTAL RIP OFF! I called ahead and asked about the rooms and prices and got a quote. Then we show up and she decides to raise the price by $20. I told her that we don't want the big room but she insisted that the price is the same regardless of what room you use. So we took the 30 person room for $80/hour (minimum 2 hours). We only had 14 people. Then two more of my friends show up and she starts yelling at me saying I have to pay more for them...even though you pay by the hour, not the people. AND we were in the 30 person room with just 14 people. She says she has our credit card on file and will just charge it. -There are NO prices listed in the entrance. She just decides to tell you the price depending on your group -We asked if we could change the TV channel to the Michigan game and she asked for $20. I have been there twice now. Both times have been a lot of fun and the young guy that was working there the first night was really nice and made me want to come back. However, I will never go back again because of the way I was treated the second time I went. At the end of the night I found out that one of my friends paid them $10 more than I thought he owed. I was under the understanding that the room was $40 per hour for up to 10 people and $5 per hour per person above 10 people. While I found out that I was wrong when I got home (it was up to 8 people) the way they handled the situation make me never want to go back. They had a computer there and all they had to do was go to their website and check what it said, but they refused to do so. The older asian woman refused to refund our money because she believed she was right, but I don't fault her too much. The older white guy, however, was so rude to us that he alone is the reason I won't go back. Everyone who reads this, go to Friend's Karaoke on Church St. by S. University instead. read more
