On March 20th, 2019, my wife brought our male collie in to the Animal Clipper to get groomed. When my wife picked up our dog, she noticed that Luigi's groin area looked a little pink. She asked Carly, the groomer why the groin area looked pink. Carly told my wife that "sometimes dogs get a little dry after grooming". My wife told her that that was strange because there was nothing wrong with his groin when she brought him in. After a few days, we noticed that Luigi's groin area grew to twice the size and after inspecting the area we saw evidence where the groin area was cut, obviously from the razor and infected, as there was pus coming out of it. We then looked over his entire body and noticed another cut on his hind leg, again a cut from the razor. We took the dog to the vet who exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, what happened to him?". We told him he went to Animal Clipper groomer and after examining the dog, it was clear that, in fact, the groomer cut Luigi on the groin, as well as his back hind leg. I can't explain the pain my wife and I felt as we had to listen to Luigi cry in pain, as the veterinarian had to clean his groin area, as it was infected. They gave him a shot of steroids right away as his groin area was in so much pain and sent us home with more steroids for five days and antibiotics, which he was to take for 15 days. My wife, who works near Animal Clipper and has always promoted his shop to shoppers, couldn't believe it when she went in to talk to Dan and he not only offered no apologies, but continued to get tough with my wife saying that he would pay for the vet bill, but under no circumstances would he reimburse her for the $85 groom fee and $10 tip (again, she didn't know that they hurt the dog). My wife videotaped Dan clearly saying that, "it's a philosophy that people have that when they get their dogs groomed, they won't get hurt, but it does happen". Obviously the animals must get hurt at Animal Clipper, as when my wife asked if they had videos of the groomers, Dan's answer was,"Yes, but I'm not showing that to you, that's for my purposes only." The groomer should have conveyed to my wife that she cut our dogs groin, as well as his leg, instead of trying to cover it up by saying, "It's just a little dry". If she had done the right thing, we would have taken him immediately to the vet., Shame on her. When my wife asked Carly why she didn't tell her, Dan raised his voice and said, "You will not belittle my staff" Obviously he cares more about his staff then he does about the animals that come into his grooming facility, BEWARE that if you bring your pet there and it gets hurt, Dan WILL NOT reimburse you for the groom fee, as he explained, "A service was performed, and I never reimburse the grooming fee, I will only pay the vet bill. (Hmmmm seems Dan has done a lot more than what we, as a consumer and lover of our pet would expect.) The only compensation that Dan offered was to pay my wife for the vet bill, but would not reimburse groom fee. Not that getting that back would have made up for hurting our dog, but it would have been the right thing to do as a business owner. It's April 9th, and finally my dog is feeling himself again, but I can't convey the pain our dog had to go through due to the incompetence of Animal Clipper shop. Although I have NEVER made a review on a company, I felt the need to do to warn other pet lovers that if they take their animal there, be careful of what might happen to your pet. Being an animal lover, I don't want another animal to have to endure what our Luigi had to go through. I wish I could have included the picture of my dog's groin, but unfortunately Yelp doesn't have a picture button. read more
