The review is for visiting this location twice and both ordered through instacart. One time for delaying the order for 20 minutes for no reason but staff were playing around despite long line at the restaurant. Second time ordered through instacart and they gave us the wrong item. It's not hard to look at the receipt and see what was ordered and make it! I like their food but I don't like to waste my time nor get the wrong food after waiting for some time. The staff need more training! May or may not return

Soggy side... all 3 were like this!

I'm an angry chick! Was totally disappointed even before getting my food! Walked in, ordered at the counter and the young man tells me it's going to be around 15-20 minutes!!! WTH? There's hardly anyone in here! A handful of online orders people are waiting... it's totally dead in here! Well it took 32 minutes! I sat there and waited 32 minutes for 3 chicken strips ($5 each) and the bottom sides were soggy! The chicken was dry and shreddy/chewy-not tender at all! Do NOT even bother coming here! Absolute rip off! High priced mediocre quality and crap service. Just saying! With chick filet almost next door- go there! Or Dave's Hot chicken on Channel Islands Bl or Raising Caines on Rose!

I hesitated to stop by Angry Chickz because of poor experiences in other locations but the he day called for it and I obliged the request. The space is nicely revamped and clean, the menu is simple with minimal options which's makes it easy. The ordering process is slow so come with patience it takes time but you know everything is fresh. I ordered individual tenders, three of them that came on a price of Texas toast. It was more food than I expected. The mild spice was perfect to not kill your taste buds and was still enjoyable. I added a drizzle of honey and a little comeback sauce to zing it up and it was spot on and after two tenders I was full!! Not a bad experience looking forward to another visit.

GETTING HERE: Located in the Telephone Road Plaza shopping center, near Winco. Angry Chickz is on the end, near the Arby's and Rolling Pin Donuts. REVIEW: This review is a bit late, and I can't wait to return to see how their service is rolling out. I know that new businesses have some bumps in the beginning, and this Angry Chickz wasn't immune from them, but nothing I experienced was the end of the world. So, it's all good. I ended up receiving the Angry Mac, and it was less than what I expected. But, overall it was edible and separate from the long wait (so many customers!) it was a good-enough meal. Ambience was loud and crowded; but hopefully (?) that will slow down as they get into their groove. Will be back again asap to try their Angry Fries, and I will update my review asap. Glad to have a new business in Ventura. Support them, if you can.

My son and I were excited to finally try Angry Chicks in Ventura tonight after seeing all the social media hype and watching their remodel come together. They're conveniently located in Midtown Ventura in the same shopping center as Winco, so we were glad to have something new nearby. The restaurant itself is pretty simple--walk-up counter ordering, about six tables inside, maybe eight outside on the patio, and a soda fountain. The staff was polite, but the interaction felt more scripted than genuine. Not unpleasant, just very basic. The first thing we were told was that they don't accept cash, though I'm not sure if that's always the case or just because it was after 9 PM. We ordered a chicken slider meal to share. For two sliders, fries, and a soda it came out to just over $20, which felt really steep--especially when one meal alone is around $17-$18 before a drink. For counter service where you seat yourself, that pricing doesn't add up in my opinion. As for the food--it was just OK. We tried one "hot" and one "medium" slider, but there wasn't much difference between the two. The chicken didn't fully cover the bun, so half the sandwich was just slaw with no chicken. The fries were heavily seasoned--too much for me, but my son enjoyed them. Overall, nothing really stood out. The food was just OK, the service was just OK, the décor was just OK. With prices that high, though, I'd expect something more memorable. For us, it's about a 3-star spot, and we probably won't be back.

I've never been to an Angry Chickz location before. I only noticed this location while running errands nearby, and a huge line had formed as I guess it officially opened on Friday (or recently). So, I figured it was time to see all the "hot" gossip about this place. First, when I got in line, there were only about two families in front of us. Although I had already looked at the menu beforehand, a staff member stood outside with the menu in her hands so we could look at it. We ordered the number three, which came with a slider, Texas toast and chicken tenders on top plus fries. We also ordered the Angry Mac with fries, Mac n cheese, and chicken tenders in a bowl. The sauce we requested was mild. We sat at one of the bars, overlooking the side patio. The servers were constantly cleaning, so all the available tables were already clean. The waiting time for food took only 10 minutes. Everything came out hot, fresh, and smelling fine. I rarely like any hints of spice, but since my husband requested mild sauce, I had to try it. It was too hot for me, and I was grateful for my cup of water. For him, it was too hot, too. But the chicken tenders were crunchy, well-seasoned, and scrumptious. The Texas toast with the chicken tenders and pickles added a tasty and unique flavor that made me finish the half sandwich in minutes. The fries were well-seasoned, and I couldn't keep my hands off them. My favorite food was the Angry Mac. Seasoned fries, Mac' n cheese, and chicken tenders in a bowl with the sauce of your choice made for an appetizing meal. I would order this next time with the country (no spice) sauce, as it was my favorite food ordered. The slider was a misnomer. It's more of a regular-sized chicken sandwich with coleslaw and pickles, plus the sauce of your choice. I haven't had the opportunity to try this, as I was incredibly full from the other food. The servers were friendly, and the food came out much more quickly than expected, although I went for a late lunch. I want to return here again and order the Angry Mac. Welcome to Ventura, Angry Chickz!

Not sure why so many people have such negative reviews. I went here today and enjoyed lunch with my boyfriend. Chicken was good, not dry. French fries were super good. Mac was good. Coleslaw was flavorful without being too heavy with mayo. I'll be coming back!

Very excited to have an Angry Chickz here in Ventura. Right next to grocery store, other shopping stores which you can come to stop by for lunch or dinner before heading to do your shopping. The inside looks so bright & nice & friendly staff. So stoked to have some bomb chicken! Really enjoyed my meal here & absolutely all the workers were so welcoming, friendly & asked if we found everything ok which made it a great experience & cannot wait to go back. I will tell everyone about this place because this is the best chicken in town period!!!!!!

OVERPRICED!!! Not worth it at all! I'll stick to Dave's Hot chicken!! 17.99 for a meal no drink. Yall are tripping !! They won't be there long.

Wow. Now I understand the low ratings. My husband and I ordered online for pickup. In addition to a slider and a side of mac & cheese, he ordered the 4 Tenders from the catering section. The description clearly reads: "4 Tenders: includes 4 crispy chicken tenders served with 12 ounces of fries and one 8-ounce cup of signature sauce. Perfect for smaller gatherings." He went to pick up the order but couldn't open the bag because it was tied so tightly, so he assumed everything was inside. When we got home, we realized the fries were missing. He called and spoke with a representative who insisted that fries don't come with that order. My husband politely disagreed and read the description word-for-word. She transferred him to a manager who repeated the same thing, that fries were an extra $10. There's no option online to "add fries" because they're already supposed to be included. Eventually, the manager said she would "honor it this one time." Sorry, but we weren't driving back for fries that should've been included in the first place. So basically, we paid $28 for four chicken tenders. Pro tip: Skip the 4 Tender catering option and just order two of the "#2" combo meals at least those come with fries and bread (I think... unless they change their mind while packing). Now for the food itself: I really enjoyed the slider (I ordered the Country flavor). I chose that because another reviewer mentioned the Mild tasted like "powdered cayenne," and she was absolutely right our Medium tenders had that same chalky spice taste. The mac and cheese was bland and forgettable. We can't comment on the fries... since we never got them. The sauce was good, though! Overall: Average food, frustrating service, and not worth the price. Probably won't be returning

BBQ Worth Fighting Over at Smokin Jay's BBQ & Coffee from Potheads Coffee…read more My wife and I recently stopped by Smokin Jay's BBQ and paired it with a visit to Potheads Coffee, and it turned into one of those meals you end up talking about long after you leave. From the first bite, it was clear this spot takes their BBQ seriously. Entrées: We started by ordering a brisket plate, which came with about 1/4 lb of brisket, roughly six solid pieces, along with macaroni salad and baked beans. Our original plan was to share, but that quickly changed after the first few bites. The brisket was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right with that perfect balance of smoke and juiciness. It didn't take long before we realized sharing wasn't going to cut it. So my wife went back up and ordered a brisket sando with fries, and it absolutely delivered. The sandwich came loaded with brisket, pickles, slaw, and sauce, all working together perfectly. The fries were a great side, crispy and a solid pairing with the sandwich. Sides: The macaroni salad and baked beans that came with the plate were both on point. The mac salad was creamy and complemented the richness of the brisket, while the baked beans added that sweet and savory depth you want with BBQ. Sandwich Details: The sando really stood out, especially with the addition of the slaw. My wife usually isn't a fan of coleslaw, but this one changed things a bit. It wasn't overpowering and added a nice crunch and balance to the sandwich, tying everything together without taking away from the brisket. Drinks and Service: Grabbing coffee from Potheads Coffee alongside the meal was the perfect move. What really stood out, though, was the service. Jay, the owner, was walking around checking in on customers and genuinely engaging with everyone. He even helped my wife decide on a coffee based on what she usually orders at Starbucks, which was a great personal touch. He later stopped by our table, chatted with us for a bit, and made the whole experience feel welcoming and personal. Ambience: The atmosphere strikes a great balance between laid back and lively. It has that casual, welcoming BBQ spot feel where you can relax, enjoy your food, and not feel rushed. Pairing it with Potheads Coffee adds to the experience, making it feel like more than just a meal but a spot you can hang out and enjoy. Overall: Smokin Jay's BBQ is hands down the best BBQ spot I've had in Ventura County so far. Between the quality brisket, well put together sides, standout sandwiches, and the personal touch from the owner, it's an easy recommendation. Pair it with Potheads Coffee, and you've got yourself a top tier Ventura food stop that's definitely worth coming back to.

Gordo Fries Combo (Spicy) for me. We found it all fresh and delicious. The option for two sides (included) is great. We found the chicken moist and tender -- the heat levels were perfect.
