I initially had a positive experience with Taconic Fireplace based on a friend's recommendation…read more The installation and communication were satisfactory, and they addressed my few concerns during the process. Being in the construction field, I had a few concerns with the install and they assured me not to worry. they made sure that I understood that if anything happened, they would return to rectify the issue. When I reached out about a leak less than a year later, they mentioned fixing it but... with a 4-month delay and offered that I could hire a local roofer if I would like. I asked if they could cover the cost of a local roofer, given it was their work. Unfortunately, the response was a firm refusal, citing the minimal nature of the leak and its unusual occurrence. Their email to me: "No I will not cover the cost of a roofer. The leak is minimal and more strange it hasn't started since the beginning. Is this happening every so often or only on very windy and heavy rains or because snow is sitting up there." Should leaks only happen on rare occasions during specific weather conditions after a woodstove is installed? In my opinion, any leak for any reason, needs to be dealt with immediately. I had anticipated better service, especially from a recommended and seemingly kind company. It appears their commitment to quality diminished after the payment was made. I hope they address these concerns and prove themselves as a reputable company. I will update this review accordingly. Update: I received the following message from Michael the day after posting my review: "I appreciate the 1-star review. Why don't you call me and talk to me like a man before going on the internet and crying to everyone. 845-661-5148." Grateful for this last message, as it gives me further insight into the nature of the person/company I was dealing with.

A technician confirmed the problem. I went into the store to explain that the stove is under warranty and that I shouldn't have to pay for the replacement part or repairs covered by it. I was also told I'd have to wait six weeks for service, which is unacceptable, especially since we've had to rely on expensive electric heat while waiting for a fix. While I was explaining this, the man identified as the owner walked over and, in front of other customers, said, "Your heat bill isn't my problem." His tone was rude and dismissive. I told him I never said it was his problem--I was pointing out how unfair it is to pay high electric costs while waiting for a warranty repair on a stove we just bought. I even said I might as well have saved my $5,000. He then raised his voice and said, "Your electric bill isn't my problem, and what you're saying is that you think you're more important than other people who have to wait." I told him that's not what I said, that I just expect timely service on a product that's still under warranty. He continued, saying, "This is just supplemental heat, that's your problem," then walked away and dismissed me entirely. After that, the employee helping me also became rude. He said the wait would be four weeks and that I'd have to pay for labor. When I mentioned the parts were under warranty, he said, "Well, I don't know, I'm not going to look at that right now." This entire experience was unprofessional, disrespectful, and unacceptable. The owner's conduct, especially in front of customers, was out of line. I expect immediate attention to the warranty repair and a response addressing the way this situation was handled.

Home & Hearth in Cortlandt Manor has mastered the art of wasting a customer's time while taking…read moreabsolutely zero responsibility. I ordered an item weeks ago and getting a straight answer about delivery has been nearly impossible. I was bounced around between Mike, Ron, Brian, and John--a revolving door of incompetence where no one knows anything, no one follows up, and no one seems remotely concerned. It took five days just to get an update that went beyond the meaningless line of "it's not ready." Promised callbacks never happen, messages go unanswered, and when you finally get someone on the phone, you're met with excuses instead of solutions. Their favorite move is blaming "non-responsive vendors." That excuse might hold water if the people inside the store weren't so astonishingly disorganized and unprofessional. No ownership. No urgency. No accountability. Just finger-pointing and shrugging while the customer is left in limbo. If you enjoy being ignored, misled, and treated like an inconvenience after you've already paid, this is the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and shop literally anywhere else. There are plenty of businesses that understand what it means to be client-facing. Home & Hearth clearly does not.

I am going into month 3 of having a nonfunctioning, unuseable outdoor kitchen which still remains a half built shell on my back deck because Sal sold me a damaged, subpar outdoor kitchen which he refuses to provide any level of customer service! This business owner cares about one thing and one thing only... HIMSELF! He does not care what happens to you after your check or credit card clears! As seen in the attached image, Sal from NYC fireplaces has revoked even the smallest simplest gesture of customer service since I wrote a negative review! This man thinks his word is all that matters in this world and does not believe that actions speak louder than words! Another tit for tat expectation from a shotty self centered looser of a business owner! RUN RUN RUN from this company! Go to absolutely anyone else! This man is a thief. This man is a corrupt business owner. My credit card company says numerous people have opened claims against this man! Even the OEM manufacturer of the kitchen island has said they will be refusing to allow this man to represent their company moving forward! Do not fall for all his positive reviews! They are admitted friends who he has leveraged to boost his scores!

They had the best price I could find online which is why I went with them. A few days after the order I realized I had made a mistake - I ordered a dual fuel wood/natural gas oven, when I actually needed dual fuel wood/propane. I called and spoke to Luca who immediately made the change in their system. The oven was delivered the next day and the delivery person was extremely courteous and helpful. Again, I made another mistake. I forgot to order the stand to put the pizza oven on. I called Luca again and he took payment for the stand and offered to waive the FedEx costs since I paid for assembly initially. That would have been great customer service already, but to go a step further, Luca called me back and said they would put it on a truck and deliver it that same day. Such a great experience!

The installer they recommended and use (3rd party Pro Gas) never gave us a quote for the install, never booked an appt and would just randomly show up at our house expecting the fireplace to be ready for install. Once my GC got the fireplace framed their installer randomly showed up to finish whatever work he needed to do without sending me a quote. When he went to do that work, he didn't tell anyone he would be there so our GC wasn't onsite and I got a rude call from a male employee at Yankee Doodle expecting me to know specific height details as if I were a GC. He was rude and kept pushing me to give him that information but I kept explaining I am not the GC I do not know, my GC is on vacation and no one told me they would be at my home today to do this. My renovation is a full house reno so we were not living there during the renovation so its not like I could easily be there whenever their installer decided to show up. Again, sad to have to write this review but they highly recommended Pro Gas (and said they still will after I gave them this feedback) and I'd hate to see other customers get slammed with a huge bill and no communication or approval for that bill.
