I've never written a bad review before, and I don't like the idea of doing one now, but here goes. I had dropped off my Stihl Kombi unit in early May to get some basic maintenance work, expecting it would take only a week or so. I was told I would be called after parts were in and work had begun (I paid for them at that time). More than 2 WEEKS had passed (I had already forgotten about it) when I called and asked about where my product was, and why I hadn't been called. Got no answer, even though the parts were there. When passing though town a week later I dropped by to check on the progress of the repair and learned, after waiting 1 hour in a largely empty store, that nothing had been done and that it was "behind 2 other units." I was called later by their Stihl tech, who is very nice and competent, and was informed that she had a family emergency and was not there as much, and that I would be called the following week. I was very sorry to hear this, of course, and I waited, but I also wondered - if that was the case, why weren't they being more proactive about telling customers to get their own product work done elsewhere so as to preserve a good relationship? After not getting called by ANYONE again, I dropped by on my rare drives through town. Once again, I had to wait, this time for 1 hour, in a largely empty store. Still told I was behind 2 other machines. Ok. Finally, I get called a week later and told the repair was done; however, one of the things I'd asked to check was not done. Wow - OK. I was told I'd be called back when it was assessed and done. After waiting ANOTHER week with no call, I went in and was upset. I had to wait another hour (in a largely empty store) and was told that it was "still behind 2 other units." Needless to say, I hit the roof, and told them I had wasted 3 hours and 6 weeks waiting on this device to be fixed, and that I had not been treated with respect for my time. The manager finally decided to show up, and I told him that I was upset and asked how he was going to make things right for me (almost anything would have been acceptable). His answer? "There's no margin for that." That was his brilliant responses after 15 minutes of blathering and trying to make nice. Well, if there's no margin, there's even less of it now - me and my customer lifetime value (I had spent thousands there over many years) are going to a new place that respects its customers and their time. The mere lack of an attempt to do right sealed the deal for me - lousy customer service from what had once been one of my standbys. This is a terrible store that lacks even basic customer service. I was put on hold for over 10 minutes, when a different girl picked up the phone and said the first girl decided to do something else while I remained waiting on the phone. Are you kidding me? I won't shop here any more. The employees are just plain rude kids that know nothing at all about hardware. You are better off purchasing your items from Amazon. read more

Utterly disgusted with how they treat their customers here. I had came on July 1st with my father, sister and I . Let me mind you,my dad loves this store and often goes there a lot. I had went there to take my father to pick out his birthday presents. As we were there, my dad picked out a plunger, a very unique one at that. It was a shotgun plunger,which was pretty funny because we haven't seen one quite like this before. So we started laughing, after in a blink of an eye some old white man who is supposedly the " security " and " manger " had kicked us out, when asking why he had no answer at all. He was extremely rude, and being kicked out for no reason at all was just so unacceptable. I had asked to speak to the manager then he mentions he is "the manager" . Thanks a lot Ace for ruining my fathers birthday and ruining our day as well, I will pass this story on to anybody who ever mentions Ace Hardware store to me. I have never in my 24 years of living been kicked out of a place before, and them having no reason at all, just makes it worst. Don't shop here unless you want to be treated like trash ! This is best ever Ace Hardware Store. They don't have just hardware and tools, but great gift ideas and a post office in the back of the store. Its clean, friendly and efficient. Kudos to the owners and staff. read more

This place is awesome! Andy's Ace has everything. Stihl, Honda, a Post Office in the back of the store, a Radio Shack, they make chip keys for cars, and they make their own fudge in the store. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. My family and I went to Andy's Ace to look for some Christmas lights and we ended up spending an hour and a half, (and $150 bucks) looking at all of the cool stuff that they have to offer. Their prices seemed very fair to me and their selection was huge. Oh, by the way, if you get a chance to check out their fastener department it has just about every nut and bolt ever made. The East-side of Anchorage has the best Hardware store in Alaska hands down. read more

Don't ever shop here ! They make excuses for you to use the bathroom.so I went on 9/12/17 I asked the employee named LORI if she could kindly open the bathroom(all while my sister was shopping for small stuffs for the house) she replied with an attitude "well your gonna have to wait because there's only 3 people on the floor every one is busy "she was only helping one customer and everybody else who was on the floor wasn't doing anything but standing around smh mind you I waited already for 5-8mins by the door.so me and my sister decides to talk to the manager to bring it to his attention and to handle this situation professionally the manager MIKE WAS already rude after we told him what happened he said "are you done yet ? Did you still need the bathroom ? " (10mintues of going back and forth )I said no because I'm uncomfortable with your store then he goes so why don't you lose your attitude and check out !? so he says oh okay so all this commotion for nothing ! I never had bad customer service I couldn't believe that this "manager " has no common sense ! Smh Very rude I can see why they have an attitude! They probably hate their jobs don't shop here ! I have shopped at Ace Hardware for many years and spent thousands of dollars at this location. I prefer a small knowledgeable staff compared to a big box store. I will no longer go back to that store because of an incidence that happened this summer. I was shopping picking up some items for projects I was working on. I am a 60plus female and very honest and hardworking. I paid for my items and was walking out the door and I was stopped by three employees. They accused me of stealing. I was so humilated.I took out my receipt and showed them my purchases. I did not get an apology from management or a phone call. I called the next day and left a message for the manager. She did not return my call. One month later I stopped by and talked to the asst. manager. She was apologic but she said that there had been women in the store that had been shoplifting in my age range and ethnicity. Wow! I believe that is racial profiling. I even emailed corporate and received no help. So if you are a woman over 60 do not go into that store. The lack of care from management is what bothered me the most. read more

Ace is the place...! They have lots of stuff, fasteners, electrical items that the big box stores don't. I found their salespeople knowlegeable and their attitude is wonderful. To the person who talked about finding thigs cheaper at Costco: Costco buys a million of something so of course they can sell cheaper.
