I have been going to Bell's for all things green for as long as I can remember .They always have the answers to any question I have about my yard, my garden, my trees, and my indoor plants. Bell's nursery is also one of the most festive and fun places to be at Christmas time. They have a wonderful gift shop full of treasures for all your family members ,they sell Sees' Candy , it's the only place in the state where you can find this delicacy.They have a coffee shop and Santa Claus is there for family pictures , South Anchorage farmers market is there every Saturday thru the 20th . I hadn't been to Bell's in years and decided to swing by to go to the winter edition of the South Farmers Market. I was pleasantly surprised! They have a great gift shop portion of the nursery that is dedicated to *non plant* type items like candles, purses, dinnerware and candy. They also have a nice little coffee shop with a great seating area! Since I went in the winter they had a nice selection of house plants but mostly TONS of poinsettias and Christmas trees. The greenhouse smelled absolutely amazing with all the pine trees. The farmers market portion was AWESOME! Amazing vendors, live music, and fresh Alaska veggies like potato's, carrots, onions and tomato's. All in all it was a great experience!! read more

This well-established south Anchorage gem is a local favorite. They have a little bit of everything: a gift shop, a plant shop, garden store, coffee shop, candy store and occasional local vendor's market. Nice to enjoy the humidified air, the smell of fresh plants and the warmth of the greenhouse after a long, dark Alaska winter. 20 th year ritual and counting. We come a few days before memorial weekend every year We load up on flowers. You name it. They got it. We buy a few pre planted and grown mature hanging plants. And make a dozen more ourselves. It smells good in there. They have carts and boxes and string teens to help carry. We spend our Memorial Day in our yard safely drinking beer and barbecuing without mingling with the Road warriors. Live it. Jet bells help you make Memorial Day fun again. My first time here - we came for a Christmas tree and were not disappointed! There are a lot of people on the "floor" to help answer your questions. We were fortunate enough to find Gavin who was super knowledgeable on the three different types of trees they carry and what's different about each one. He was super friendly. Once we found our tree he tagged it for us and had it ready for our truck. Check our was simple. They gave us a free poinsettia with our purchase. Super friendly! Lots of parking. Speedy check out. Hit up Bell's on Specking again the other day because the Cranberry Rd Bell's was out of like, everything. I wasn't much happier with this Bell's, frankly. If you don't catch them during a sale, you feel like your wallet has been raped when you leave there. Granted, Bell's is a huge complex of greenhouses. I didn't get the chance to check out their perennials or trees yet. I was on a mission for the instant gratification of annuals. Their selection of garden packs (flats) and 4 and 6 inch pots seemed really super picked over this year. It looks like they put all of their best annuals in hanging baskets so they could mark them up to high heaven. All that was left for putting plants into the ground was crap that was overwatered, burnt or not flowering. LAME. The only thing that looked really well to me were their Martha Washington Geraniums, pansies and begonias. So, I opted to buy a hanging basket and rip it apart for my planters. I couldn't find a single thing for my garden that merited what they were asking for it. I HATE buying flowers from a grocery store- I WANT to give my business to mom & pops like Bell's. But this year, I just felt like Bell's was price-gouging, so I took my business to Fred Meyers. I feel guilty, but at least I found what I was looking for, a healthy, flowering, reasonably priced selection. I don't think think this is too much to ask. read more

I love this place so much but I end up spending way more than I ever plan to. Every year I say I'm getting my baskets at Fred Meyers or Home Depot and every year, those places don't compare on quality and variety of flower baskets. So you get what you pay for. So tip...it's expensive no doubt about it. Bell's on Specking road has a unique gift shop with locally made items as well as European gifts. They also have See's chocolates here!! They also have a little coffee shop with light foods to enjoy. It's a really nice greenhouse with knowledgeable and friendly staff, the parking sucks though if they have any sort of sale...just not enough parking. read more

I stopped by Bell's on a very cold day recently. It was so nice to be able to walk out of the cold into a nice warm greenhouse. I started out in the gift shop which had a varied and wide selection of gifts. It found this great selection of pop up cards that I just loved. I was very impressed with the selection of unique artists glass. I will definitely keep those in mind for special gifts. I was equally as delighted with the coffee shop which also served a good selection of tea. Once I had my tea in hand, I continue into the actual greenhouse here little geraniums were being transplanted. if you have ever grown geraniums, you can imagine the wonderful smell. I am looking forward to my next visit to Bells. read more

Such poor customer service! You'd think locals taking care of locals would pride themselves on quality customer service. However, this is not the case. I purchased a wrong item, to be given as a gift, and was not allowed to return or exchange. Couldn't even get store credit. So now I'm stuck with an item totally useless. So frustrating! Our Christmas tree was purchased here last year. It dried out and started loosing it's needles two weeks after purchase. Vowed then to never purchase our trees here again. Now with this experience, we will never shop here again. Local businesses need to realize there are other choices and should value the customers they have. read more

Bought some hanging baskets from them because I wanted to support local and heard good things about this place. One of the hanging baskets I got started to die immediately when it was taken home. I tried to bring it back for an exchange. They said they don't offer that. Not buying here anymore. I'm getting mine and Costco/Home Depot next time. read more

****BEWARE**** TAINTED SOIL*****We have been paying Bells Nursery for 21 years to winter-over our hydrangea bushes. We have paid them thousands of $$$, to care for our plants.This year, they gave our hydrangeas a fungus & refused to replace them. Steph & Linda both told story after story- First they said a fungus came from someone's fuscia baskets, and had contaminated only he fuscia's. Then they told me it it spread throughout their greenhouse & contaminated all the hydrangea plants, as well. Then Linda told me the fungus is running through their entire greenhouse & they are having to get rid of all their dirt. Finally, when I drove out to talk to Steph, she said she didn't know anything about that, but supposedly the hydrangeas are just too big & take up too much room. Either way, our 20 year old hydrangeas are now dead, thanks to Bells Nursery. read more

So if you are looking for Department 56 goodies or maybe some Sees candy. Who doesn't like Sees? You should stop in here and look around. When your in the gift shop area ask for Bobbi. She is the sweetest lady ever. Most of the staff provide excellent service. They will take the time to help you and will check out the stock room just in case something is not on the floor. When is comes to the nursery this is the place to pick up your herbs when spring arrives. You have to have chives and basil in your herb garden, right? They also sell tomatoes usually for $5.00 for five pounds. I know 5 lbs is a lot of tomatoes but if your like our family and love brochette then the tomatoes will go quick. For the military they offer 10% off your purchases. Very much appreciated! Guys don't sweat going here. Cut your better half loose in the store and head out to the coffee area and pick up something to drink. Love the grande cappuccino and a biscotti. I've been hearing their radio commercials for months, so I finally decided to stop by. I knew they were a large store with all kinds of gifts...and they certainly delivered on their promise. Jewelry, Waterford crystal, Reed & Barton silverware, pottery, Crabtree and Evelyn products, minature Christmas villages, Mikasa dinnerware, aprons, scone mixes, Stonewall Kitchen sauces and more! Prices are moderate to high, but everything here is of good quality, and well-made. We reserved the Coffee Bar this weekend for a bridal shower. The staff was welcoming, accommodating, and even helped carry in boxes of decor and food. If you're looking for a beautiful venue - give Bell's a call. It was $250 to rent the coffee bar for 4 hrs. This is very affordable compared to other venues and you won't find a prettier setting! read more

Good quality plants like the other two locations, this one has a coffee bar too. The coffee isn't like Kaladis, but it was nice to have an espresso and read the paper in the green house. I also go here to get See's candy: nowhere else in town has it. read more

I bought a Christmas tree here a few years ago, and it shed the majority of its needles within a week. Then, when I took it back in, Bell's staff was crappy with me, even though there were apparently a lot of returns. (Read the Google reviews for my full review.) After that, we went with fake trees for a few years. This year, I bought a 7' Frasier Fir from Home Depot for under $40. It has been sucking up water and the needles are firm and solidly still attached. I recommend getting a tree just about anywhere else than Bell's. read more

I have been getting baskets of flowers from Bells for 15 years. I've heard people complain about their customer service but had never personally experienced it. Until today. I picked up 4 baskets and a fuschia tree. The baskets were underwhelming to say the least. Full of deadheads, and didn't look they had been watered in a day or so. Even the woman helping me asked them if they had been watered. The man who helped bring out the baskets insisted they had been that morning, but I'm sorry...going to have to disagree. They were dry as a bone and looked sad and wilted. The baskets from Costco look healthier and just a fraction of the cost. When I told the girl I was not impressed with the baskets because they simply didn't look healthy or worth the almost 100 dollar each price tag, she just walked away. Not even an offer to try and make it right. Not. one. word. I guess that's how much my business (almost $400 worth of baskets) and my satisfaction mean to them. I used to look forward to getting beautiful colorful flowers from Bells every year. Not this summer. Not only did I get sad baskets, but they weren't even what I had requested in September when I ordered them (I specified lots of yellow and purple). Considering the vibe I got as far as spending my hard earned money goes, I doubt I will be ordering from them again, and will find someplace else to winter my beautiful fuschia tree read more
