If you're looking for high prices and rudeness, this is your place. I doesn't cost any more to be polite.

This place feels like I went into the tool section at Lowe's or Home Depot…read more It's not that they don't have other merchandise, it's just that they really seem to have a great selection of power tools. It's not a huge store so it's easy to maneuver around and it wasn't very busy so it was a quick in and out. The inventory seems to be pretty decent. They were out of food safe 5-gallon buckets on the shelf, but they had extras in storage and they got me one of those. The staff was helpful, but not friendly. They had no interest in small talk (or really any talk at all). I was asked if I had a rewards program or something else. I said I didn't. And that was the end of that conversation. They didn't ask if I wanted to sign up or get more information. There are a couple other stores in town. I'll probably try them out before hitting up this place again. Just to see what they're like.

AIH in Eagle River moves back up to three stars for us, as of yesterday, although at the point, I…read moredon't see them ever going any higher. From our previous poor visit, the guy who helped us never made sure our information was updated in the computer, so we had to jump through hoops again. This time, we were told it was updated while we were there (mind you, the last guy said he couldn't). I have to say, they show zero interest in their customers and what they're doing, looking for, projects or otherwise. Just crotchety guys with crap for customer service skills. I'd think guys that like tools would enjoy working in a hardware store but it seems as though that's not the case. My husband is an incredibly cordial guy, likes to give accolades and chit-chat but for the most part, they just won't have it there. I find myself saying 'let's go, they don't care.' Kind of a bummer, especially for a local company... but then again, it boils down to where else are you going to go? Our options are limited in this great state and they just don't seem like they need to try. Guess that's why Amazon is thriving...

I have mixed feelings about his Greenhouse... the only reason I bumped them from a 3 to a 4 star is…read morebased on the sheer variety of plants they sell. Of all the greenhouses I've visited in Alaska, this one has the widest selection of perennials. They have things that NO ONE else has, so that's pretty cool. What isn't cool? Three things: One- their plants are all on the ground (instead of eye level on tables, crammed to closely together on the wet soggy ground. They're too close together and there's no place to walk. As a result: Two- their plants are being over taken by weeds. Since they're on the ground the weeds are free to take over. The plants are not very well tended at all. Three: The prices are waaaaaay to high given the quality. The plants are small and poorly tended and you pay for the POT size, not the plant size. Kinda ridiculous. The indoor plants in the greenhouse are well tended and gorgeous however. I just think their poor layout makes it really difficult to tend the plants. The greenhouse is an oasis of tropical plants, soothing sounds and smells. They have a cute selection of gifts- wind chimes, soaps and lotions and other zen items. I was really pleased with their selection of herbs, which is one of my favorite subjects: basil, siam basil, tri-colored sage, parsley, oregano, rosemary, thyme, lemon verbena, bee balm, chocolate mint, peppermint, chives and other lovelies. I'll definitely be back, but I'll be looking for sales to make it worth the trip.

I go every year at least a couple times. They also sell local honey, a must for my seasonal allergies. Make sure you check them out!
