I needed to send flowers to a special friend in Alaska so turned to Yelp (as always) to do some research. Hummels was one of the choices and when I looked at their website, I liked their styles and how much Yelpers like their flowers and service. Since my friend's husband was an avid outdoorsman, I thought a fall arrangement would be suitable. The funeral celebration of life was a few days away and on a Sunday so I was a little worried about availability and delivery. I called and talked to the florist, agreed on an arrangement shown on their website and confirmed some of the flowers (protea!) and colors. The following day, they sent a photo. It was my first time ordering flowers from out of state and Hummel's made it a complete breeze! I was attracted to their online site since they actually posted their own pictures of the arrangement options. A lot of Anchorage florists use stock photos. My experience with stock photos is that usually the end result isn't even close to what you buy. I spoke to two women at Hummel's and each was so friendly, accommodating, and down to earn! One of the gal's took a few pictures of the arrangements already made up to give me extra options. I ended up going with their 'sunny side up arrangement' for a patient in the hospital. I love how tall this arrangement is so the patient could easily see most of flowers from their bedside. I didn't know how the final arrangement would turn out since I knew a few flowers and the vase needed to be subbed due to low stock. The florist did NOT disappoint. We're so happy with the end result and combination of colors! We got an extra surprise when the sunflowers showed up in the arrangement since they were low in stock too! read more

I'd like to preface this by saying I ultimately had to contact another florist to replace this botched arrangement: I attempted to order two dozens of red roses and six roses (that's all they had left but I really wanted 12 white roses as well) for my daughter's promotion gift. When they arrived at her door, the order turned out to be a floral arrangement with six white roses mixed in for a total of 24 roses. Sigh! I was profoundly disappointed and called Hummel's for redress. The young lady recognized the errors and stated they must have input the code wrong, and that's how they arrived at a floral arrangement. So I have two issues; the number of roses and the type of arrangement. My goodness. A halfhearted apology was given after ruining my daughter's special day, and no kind of compensation was offered to make me happy. They offered to make the arrangement over and go and pick up the other arrangement the following morning during a COVID-19 Pandemic. I was like, WOW! They don't know how many people have been around this arrangement. They still placed it inside their delivery vehicle with other customer's arrangements and brought it back into their shop to recycle the plants...WOW! I felt more and more disrespectful and canceled the order the same day as the original delivery and was told the workers didn't know if they could cancel my order. I advised them not to deliver that arrangement until the owner contacted me. So the following morning, I called back and finally spoke to the manager, who almost forced me to keep the flowers. I refused because of poor customer service. The manager ultimately had a sidebar conversation with the owner, who told her to tell me she would still charge me delivery fees even though her employees were at fault and destroyed my daughter's special day. I was floored that this business would attempt to shuffle a cost to me because of their negligence. I say that to say. Do business here at your own risk. As a military retiree and VWF, I'll pass on this location every time going forward. I assume in was treats so badly because I created this order over the phone as I live in California. read more

I am very please with The experience that I had with Hummel's Flowers. I live in Georgia. Our daughter who lives in Anchorage Alaska had to have emergency surgery and is in the hospital there. Hummel's Flowers was the only place that was willing to individualize a candy Bouquet for our daughter. I was able to pick out the exact candies that she loves to go into her specialized Bouquet Jessica was very personable and friendly over the phone. She did everything she could to make this very special for our daughter. Jessica was very accommodating with making the bouquet very special for our daughter. Being so far away. Jessica made it very personable and sent me a picture over my cell phone of what the Bouquet would look like. Then just before delivery she sent me a picture of the actual bouquet with our daughters favorite candies and snacks in a beautiful mug.
