Andrew is an awesome instructor and I highly recommend him and the GOLFTEC Pleasanton location. I'm…read morelate middle age and have played since a teenager but not well. I would have some good shots but lots of bad shots and did not really have a mental plan for what a swing should be. I was debating between going to a local golf course pro, or trying GOLFTEC. I decided to try this as I thought the technology would help. I signed up for the initial evaluation and though not intended to be a lesson, Andrew spotted some fundamental errors in my weight that instantly improved my game and I signed up for a series of lessons. I have made great progress, I feel like I know exactly how I should golf, even if I can't do it correctly on every shot. The dual angle video (front/side), side by side comparisons of my good/bad swings (and mine vs. pros), allowed me to clearly see (vs simply being told) what I was doing and what I should be doing differently. Andrew is a great coach, quickly analyzing each swing and giving easy to understand instructions. He's friendly and supportive even through a COVID mask...

I bought a lesson package and my Coach Andrew Loughrin proceeded to resolve my issues: slice, chunk, no weight transfer, etc. Being a lefty player, many coaches have a hard time providing appropriate instructions but not Andrew. He seamlessly worked the computer swing clips and allowed me to visualize the parts of my swing that needed attention. He provided great drills and encouraged me to practice (LOL). The GolfTec app provides a summary and clips of the session as well. Andrew's instructions finally clicked together, few months into it, I now have a 16 handicap!!!! I started the game around July of 2025 with no golf background whatsoever…read more Preface this with I only had ONE lesson with ONE coach before this and it wasn't a good fit. Ian is the real deal - he fits his teaching perfectly between technical analysis and feel. He doesn't overwhelm with things like "oh your face is 2* open at impact" or "7500 rpms is too spinny for a 6 iron lets fix that" I would get from some other coach. I have went from shooting ~130 per round to getting my first handicap at 30.5 to getting my current handicap to 18.7 to signing up for my first tournament in 14 months. I have taken 9 lessons over these 13 months and he has built my swing from nothing to where it is today. I know that my velocity of improvement has everything to do with his teaching. Come in with an open mind and be ready to practice - you will improve with his teaching and analysis.

Ian has a sharp eye for mechanics and breaks everything down in a way that actually sticks -- starting from the ground up with grip, then building into swing path, ball position, and tempo. He gives you a clear roadmap and builds on it lesson by lesson. I practice a few times a week and take monthly lessons with him, and every session I walk away with something concrete to work on. What sets Ian apart is that he's not just technically excellent -- he's also a great communicator who's genuinely invested in his students' progress. You can tell he loves what he does. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced golfer looking to sharpen your game, I can't recommend Ian enough. He's the real deal.

The greens are always in good shape and well maintained, something I really appreciate as a regular player. One of the best things about this place is that it's a fun little golf course that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's challenging enough to keep things interesting, but approachable enough that beginners can enjoy themselves and build confidence. The layout is great for working on your short game, learning course management, and getting comfortable on the course without feeling overwhelmed. It's also the kind of place where you can have a relaxed round with friends or bring the family out for an enjoyable afternoon. The shorter holes make the game more accessible while still giving you plenty of opportunities to practice and improve. I highly recommend this golf center for new golfers, families, or anyone looking for a relaxed and enjoyable place to play. Whether you're just getting started or want a casual round with family and friends, this is a great spot.

Whoa, totally surprised I haven't reviewed this course yet. A lot has to do with I haven't played…read morehere in over 20 years. But in my first 5-7 years on taking up the game (95'-02'ish), we played here often, as this is a great course to learn on for several reasons. 1) It is only 9 holes, so you don't have to commit to a long 5-hour round on a big course. And when one is a beginner, 18 holes can be grueling. 2) The course is wide open, lots of room to err, without much penalty areas. Now there are areas you have to watch out for, but still much more generous than most other courses. 3) Lots of other not-so-good golfers here. So even if you suck, you won't really be holding up snooty better golfers, who will often press your pace. So be prepared for a slower round here, can't be in hurry here. 4) Cheaper green fees. Currently in 2026 it was $20 to walk on a weekday morning. Not sure what it is on weekends. It doesn't get any cheaper to play, especially out here in the Bay Area. Now for better players, this is still not a bad place to practice and hone your short game. I took my regular Monday crew here, as 1 of them had never been, and the other golf mate hadn't been in a long time, just like me. And we had a great time. For a 9 holer, there are 3 short par 4s. The rest are par 3s and they are really not that easy. Some of them are longer like 170+ yards, and almost all the greens are bowled/raised so it looks like a turtles hump. So a little tougher on getting your ball to stick to your target. You'll be doing a lot of chipping and pitching, which is all great practice for your short game. This course is in the middle of horse racetrack, at the Alameda Co. Fairgrounds. Great way to make use of otherwise dead space. Now when the fair is going on during the summer, I'm sure this course will close down. But the rest of the year, it is open. There is also a driving range/practice facility. But haven't used those yet. Locals seem to use it. And since it is inside the racetrack, in order to get inside, you'll have to drive under a one way tunnel. Which used to be scary back in the day, as you had to honk to warn the other direction that you were going through. Now there is a traffic light that directs traffic, which eliminates guessing and having to back up inside a tunnel. A nice course that has stood the test of time and is still serving a very specific purpose...to teach and prep newer golfers by providing a relaxed and beginner friendly environment. To that I gotta give props.

He made the entire process easy and stress-free -- I never once felt like I was an inconvenience, which says a lot about his professionalism and customer-first attitude. After receiving my store credit, Adam mentioned that they had just received the new TM Qi4D drivers for demo and preorder. That was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated. I headed to the demo bay where Eugene and Jacob took great care of me. Both were extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and patient. There was absolutely no pressure to buy -- just genuine, helpful fitting advice. I ended up pre-ordering the core model, and Jacob also helped me dial in the right LAB putter afterward. This store consistently makes me feel welcomed, and the customer service is always phenomenal. I live in Modesto, about an hour away, and even though there's a Dick's Sporting Goods close to me, I will always choose to drive to this PGA TOUR Superstore in Dublin. Highly recommend.

But don't think they are affliliated as the signages seems pretty separate. Balls dispensed through a machine that can take cards. Slightly better value than in my area, where I can get about 10 extra balls for the same price of $11 for a medium bucket. My area gives me 50 balls, here I got 60. They have both grass and mats here, which caught me by surprise as I haven't seen a grass range in over 10 years. They are just much more maintenance for a place to have, and my area for sure no longer have them. So I applaud them for having them here. But on an early weekend morning, that grass area was completely full, with people in line even for the stalls. There were only 10-12 stalls, so I'm pretty sure that the demand exceeds the space. The matted area was another 30-40 yards away. You're hitting into an open field facing the freeway. There are many palm trees out there so I did find targets to go for. Except there's no yardage postings, so I was going by feel. The whole point in going to a driving range is so you can work on your yardages, so I dock and reward ranges that may or may not give you this benefit. There's a small chipping area that also gets occupied readily. I may have to check this place out on a weekday mid-day sometime. The putting green was just okay, decent to work out some basics, but nothing like a course you'd play on. I had a decent practice session here, except in the summer morning I went, the matted area was very wet, probably they hose it down to clean it, which is fine. But my matt was pretty saturated so not sure on how it affected my contacts. Also when I left and got home, and because I was wearing shorts, I had several insect bites around my ankles and calf areas, on both legs. I'm assuming mosquitos because everything was so moist and wet, but left me itching and scratching for several days to follow. I hardly ever get bites even during camping, so to get them from a driving range, makes me weary on returning.

Pros:Extremely friendly gents in the pro shop - very accommodating for rental set needs and getting us into the course impromptu. I am from out of state, and was delighted at the quality and smoothness of the greens. To me, putting quality is the single biggest dealbreaker to me regarding course review. I was so appreciative of how well they were taken care of. Cons: I think most of the water and effort is spent on maintaining the greens, at the cost of the fairways and tee boxes. I think they're trying to get ahold of where to water, as some locations had standing water, whereas others were more barren. And in true WestCoast Fashion, I found myself losing my ball merely feet off the fairway from some of the longer rough - what a surprise! Many overgrown rough patches, whereas others are absent. My only critique (not just on this course) is tee boxes that are clearly not level. At least on grass mounds that have flat surfaces, it would make sense to place the markers there, opposed to 75% of the ones today forcing me to choose between the ball well above or below my feet. Overall I enjoyed the course, loved the staff and greens, and would recommend it, especially for the price. It's no more than $30 to walk 9-18 in the afternoons and it's worth the price.
