Last year, I hosted our fantasy football draft at Swing Center Indoor Golf, and Brian and his son Tristan were amazing hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a smooth, entertaining draft--they helped with simulator questions, served our beers, and easily accommodated our potluck setup. My entire group was thoroughly impressed by both the clean aesthetic and top-notch hospitality. We had such a great time that we're officially hosting our draft here again this year! The facility itself is incredible. The bays are clean and spacious, and the turf, hitting strips, and screens are extremely well-maintained. The software lets you play virtually any top PGA course in the world, and the ball and club tracking data is impressively accurate. Beyond events, I've come in several times for pro shop services. Niko and Tristan have re-gripped my clubs, and their precision is unbeatable--putting on Golf Pride Align grips correctly takes true craftsman-level detail, and they nailed it every time. On top of all that, I've been taking lessons from Al Owens, and he's been phenomenal. My game has taken huge leaps forward thanks to him. I love that he uses Sportsbox AI technology to analyze my swing flaws and records the lessons so I can review the footage at home. You can get a better rate if you do a bigger package. Who is Patrick best for? In my opinion, Patrick will give the best bang for buck for someone who already has a gameable swing (scoring in the 80s to 100s), has decent body awareness, and is looking for an instructor who will notice the small details that are costing a player 5-10 strokes a round. Read the reviews already here and most of them are from people who have already been playing for some time. After a single lesson, I can already tell Patrick's attention to detail is superb. The day after my lesson (I generally have wavered between a high single digit and low double digit index), I shot +3 through 11 from the back tees. Getting to a 5 index this year seems realistic now. If you're completely new to golf, you can find cheaper instructors who will give you a basic understanding of the swing. They will generally all tell you the same thing, and it will likely take you some time to get your body used to the golf swing. Once you feel like you can make contact on 8/10 balls at the range on a consistent basis, or are scoring in about the 110s, then come in to Patrick to really mold your swing. But my work with Patrick has been encouraging, helpful, clear and understandable, and repeatable. For a full understanding, I've been playing off and on for 30 years. Been as low as an 11 index, but had laid off the game entirely for about 10 years. Getting back into the game in my early 60's means I have rust and physical limitations I didn't used to have. Patrick has been great at identifying the fundamental gaps I'd been playing with for, well, decades. Then showing me what needs to be changed, and providing repeatable exercises that I can put into practice to slowly build new habits. Another thing - like a lot of us, my head can be full of all sorts of swing thoughts and YouTube advice LOL Patrick has been great at encouraging me to clear the mind of all the confusing, contradictory swirl in my head and swing free. And to play golf, not play golf swing. Bottom line - yes, I've gained distance, consistency. I sort of figured any coach will be able to have positive results if I'm willing to incorporate what they teach. But what has been great is getting clear bite-sized chunks that is making the game more simple and enjoyable. My recommendation is consider Patrick as a good option as you begin to choose who you want to improve your game with.

He seamlessly worked the computer swing clips and allowed me to visualize the parts of my swing that needed attention. He provided great drills and encouraged me to practice (LOL). The GolfTec app provides a summary and clips of the session as well. Andrew's instructions finally clicked together, few months into it, I now have a 16 handicap!!!! This was my second set of lessons with Marcus. Unfortunately, after only one lesson of the ten I just purchased, I got a call from the Regional Manager telling me Marcus no longer worked for the company. I could only guess he got fired because I just had a lesson with Marcus that very morning and he never said anything. I also had other lessons booked with him in the future. I asked the Regional Manager about a refund and he said that I could get a refund since it was within the 30 day window of purchasing the 10 lesson package. When I was told what my refund would be, in was far less than I expected, since I only took 1 lesson. They said the way they worked their refunds was based on time, not number of lessons. Which is absurd to me. So, if after 29 days, I had not taken any lessons, I would not be refunded all of my initial payment. On the flipside, if I had taken 9 lessons in those 29 days, I would have been refunded the same amount as if I had taken zero lessons. I brought this scenario up to both the manager at the Pleasanton store (who was not friendly or helpful at all) and the Regional Manager (who was more friendly and more helpful) and they both agreed this would be the case. They also told me that there would be no way someone could take that many lessons in that short of time because of the way their scheduling works. I also explained that my first lesson was cancelled by Marcus and therefore I was shorted one lesson in that 29 day period. So, I should be compensated for that. They did not agree and went back the fact that there refund policy is based on time, and not lessons. This is a horrible policy that only benefits the company. So, while the lessons may be beneficial, beware of the company policies. There are tons of great golf instructors out there that will treat you fairly and won't mislead you. Also, please note that the lessons are based on 30 minute lessons, not 60 minutes. It's hard to get anything accomplished in 3o minutes so you end up using two lesson credits if you want an hour lesson. So my 10 30-minute lessons was really 5 60-minute lessons. This makes the cost of the package not worth it, in my opinion.

Ian is the real deal - he fits his teaching perfectly between technical analysis and feel. He doesn't overwhelm with things like "oh your face is 2* open at impact" or "7500 rpms is too spinny for a 6 iron lets fix that" I would get from some other coach. I have went from shooting ~130 per round to getting my first handicap at 30.5 to getting my current handicap to 18.7 to signing up for my first tournament in 14 months. I have taken 9 lessons over these 13 months and he has built my swing from nothing to where it is today. I know that my velocity of improvement has everything to do with his teaching. Come in with an open mind and be ready to practice - you will improve with his teaching and analysis.

Early on, I would see Edison every 2-3 weeks, and even to this day, the videos, data, drills, and explanations from those lessons have stuck with me. What I appreciate most is that Edison doesn't just tell you what to change. He takes the time to understand your swing tendencies, uses technology and data to show you what's happening, and most importantly, explains WHY you're missing the way you are. That has been huge for me. Instead of constantly searching for random swing fixes, I've learned how to understand my own swing and diagnose what I'm doing when something goes wrong. I can actually take that knowledge onto the course and make adjustments during a round. I've come a long way since starting. I broke 100 within my first eight months of playing, my scores continue to come down, and now I'm working toward breaking 90. As I've become more established as a golfer, I still go back to Edison every month or so for maintenance, small adjustments, and to make sure I'm continuing in the right direction. Another thing that really stands out is how much he genuinely cares about his students. There have been times when I've sent him a swing from the range and he'll take the time to quickly look at it and give me feedback. Eugene is one of the rudest ppl I've ever met. First off, I came with my dad a few months ago. I don't know what gave him the right to speak to my dad so rudely, but it definitely pissed me off. My dad asked for some help picking a club out, and he literally scoffed at him and said "Well, which irons you want? Do you have any idea? I can't help you if you don't know what you want. Take a look around and come to the simulator" My dad doesn't take any shit, he just brought 4 different full iron sets to the sim and tried em. He was so pissed, he didn't even want to buy. He got a feel for what he wanted and bought something from Roger Dunn and never came back here. Fast forward to today (fully forgot about the above interaction until after I started speaking to him) I went to him and I said I want to do an iron club fitting. He asked, "What brand?" I said honestly I don't know. I just want to use what's best for me and told him I've only ever played with senior flex Mizunos (my grandfathers) and would love to try some clubs out and see which one I'm most comfortable with. This dude rolled his eyes, slapped his hand down on the counter and said "Well how can I even help you if I don't know what you want? When you walk in to a car dealership, don't you know what car you want? What brand are you leaning towards? What even brings you here?" Bro... what?? Most people who go to buy a car go test drive the car before they drive it, right? Also, it completely depends on your budget... which it did for me. On top of all this, he didn't even help with the fitting, it was just me alone for 15 mins figuring it out on my own. Didn't provide any feedback, input, or help at all. Unfortunately, we encountered an impolite new staff and the general manager came to talk with us even though we checked into the gym (scanned our cards) who thought we sneaked in and so he wanted to check and talk to me. He was polite, but we were on our way to the Bay area and that conversation delayed us quite a bit. There also was no apologies for the less than professional attitude and demeanor of the staff who we encountered, so it left a bad taste. Hopefully, our next visit will be better.
