Last year, I hosted our fantasy football draft at Swing Center Indoor Golf, and Brian and his son Tristan were amazing hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a smooth, entertaining draft--they helped with simulator questions, served our beers, and easily accommodated our potluck setup. My entire group was thoroughly impressed by both the clean aesthetic and top-notch hospitality. We had such a great time that we're officially hosting our draft here again this year! The facility itself is incredible. The bays are clean and spacious, and the turf, hitting strips, and screens are extremely well-maintained. The software lets you play virtually any top PGA course in the world, and the ball and club tracking data is impressively accurate. Beyond events, I've come in several times for pro shop services. Niko and Tristan have re-gripped my clubs, and their precision is unbeatable--putting on Golf Pride Align grips correctly takes true craftsman-level detail, and they nailed it every time. On top of all that, I've been taking lessons from Al Owens, and he's been phenomenal. My game has taken huge leaps forward thanks to him. I love that he uses Sportsbox AI technology to analyze my swing flaws and records the lessons so I can review the footage at home. Ian is the real deal - he fits his teaching perfectly between technical analysis and feel. He doesn't overwhelm with things like "oh your face is 2* open at impact" or "7500 rpms is too spinny for a 6 iron lets fix that" I would get from some other coach. I have went from shooting ~130 per round to getting my first handicap at 30.5 to getting my current handicap to 18.7 to signing up for my first tournament in 14 months. I have taken 9 lessons over these 13 months and he has built my swing from nothing to where it is today. I know that my velocity of improvement has everything to do with his teaching. Come in with an open mind and be ready to practice - you will improve with his teaching and analysis.

I bought a lesson package and my Coach Andrew Loughrin proceeded to resolve my issues: slice, chunk, no weight transfer, etc. Being a lefty player, many coaches have a hard time providing appropriate instructions but not Andrew. He seamlessly worked the computer swing clips and allowed me to visualize the parts of my swing that needed attention. He provided great drills and encouraged me to practice (LOL). The GolfTec app provides a summary and clips of the session as well. Andrew's instructions finally clicked together, few months into it, I now have a 16 handicap!!!! This was my second set of lessons with Marcus. Unfortunately, after only one lesson of the ten I just purchased, I got a call from the Regional Manager telling me Marcus no longer worked for the company. I could only guess he got fired because I just had a lesson with Marcus that very morning and he never said anything. I also had other lessons booked with him in the future. I asked the Regional Manager about a refund and he said that I could get a refund since it was within the 30 day window of purchasing the 10 lesson package. When I was told what my refund would be, in was far less than I expected, since I only took 1 lesson. They said the way they worked their refunds was based on time, not number of lessons. Which is absurd to me. So, if after 29 days, I had not taken any lessons, I would not be refunded all of my initial payment. On the flipside, if I had taken 9 lessons in those 29 days, I would have been refunded the same amount as if I had taken zero lessons. I brought this scenario up to both the manager at the Pleasanton store (who was not friendly or helpful at all) and the Regional Manager (who was more friendly and more helpful) and they both agreed this would be the case. They also told me that there would be no way someone could take that many lessons in that short of time because of the way their scheduling works. I also explained that my first lesson was cancelled by Marcus and therefore I was shorted one lesson in that 29 day period. So, I should be compensated for that. They did not agree and went back the fact that there refund policy is based on time, and not lessons. This is a horrible policy that only benefits the company. So, while the lessons may be beneficial, beware of the company policies. There are tons of great golf instructors out there that will treat you fairly and won't mislead you. Also, please note that the lessons are based on 30 minute lessons, not 60 minutes. It's hard to get anything accomplished in 3o minutes so you end up using two lesson credits if you want an hour lesson. So my 10 30-minute lessons was really 5 60-minute lessons. This makes the cost of the package not worth it, in my opinion.

After checking in, we were able to get two golf carts relatively close to our tee time. It is not crowded at all and is definitely challenging despite the location. The challenging aspects, however, were not entirely intentional. The grounds are not the most maintained. In some areas, the grass is perfectly managed and an appropriate length. In other areas, especially around the perimeter fence and trees, the grass was either patchy, dead, or super tall. There are plenty of hills, sand traps, and obstacles along the way for those people with more skill than me to have an enjoyable time though. There is one bathroom along the 9-hole course - I believe it was around hole 4. You can only access it if you have a golf cart key to unlock it. It was definitely not the cleanest bathroom I have been in! I would love to come back again to golf with my friends (even if that means just driving the golf cart around!)

You can get a better rate if you do a bigger package. Who is Patrick best for? In my opinion, Patrick will give the best bang for buck for someone who already has a gameable swing (scoring in the 80s to 100s), has decent body awareness, and is looking for an instructor who will notice the small details that are costing a player 5-10 strokes a round. Read the reviews already here and most of them are from people who have already been playing for some time. After a single lesson, I can already tell Patrick's attention to detail is superb. The day after my lesson (I generally have wavered between a high single digit and low double digit index), I shot +3 through 11 from the back tees. Getting to a 5 index this year seems realistic now. If you're completely new to golf, you can find cheaper instructors who will give you a basic understanding of the swing. They will generally all tell you the same thing, and it will likely take you some time to get your body used to the golf swing. Once you feel like you can make contact on 8/10 balls at the range on a consistent basis, or are scoring in about the 110s, then come in to Patrick to really mold your swing. For the love of God though, do not try to coach yourself through YouTube.

Two gentlemen in this group behind us were complete jerks to us thinking that we were the ones holding up the play. It was actually a couple groups in front of us. The Marshall came by and one of the guys in the group behind us started complaining and was very rude. This could've escalated if my partner and I hadn't stayed calm. Completely uncalled for. I don't know what's going on with the attitude at this course, but it really wasn't even friendly in the clubhouse. There were three gentlemen standing behind the desk when we came in to pay and get our cart. None of them had a smile on their face or even looked like they enjoyed their job. They were very short in answering questions and it really didn't make me want to ever come back to this course. I'm sure losing my business isn't gonna hurt them because the course itself was well maintained and overall nice. Just can't say the same for the employees.

Course is basically a par three course but has a few fours. Fairways are mostly weeds but it's mowed down so you can still play them. Greens roll surprisingly well for the amount of weeds. Hazards don't really exist, old bunker is grown over with weeds. Cups clearly don't get cut that frequently as every cup had overgrowth which is a bummer. For like $16 it's fine to learn the game and get a little walk
