I still love the Swenson course, but prices have tripled over the past few years. Over $80 to play a course that was $25 not too long ago???? Prices on drinks and food are extremely high as well, especially for Stockton. The city shut down the other courses and are now trying to gouge us at the one course that's left. As far as I can tell, nothing has really changed to justify the ridiculous cost, except a coat of paint on the restaurant. We easily reserved a tee time through their website. Upon arrival the staff was nice and got us started quickly. However the majority of the golf carts available had rips or chunks taken out of the seats. There was also no score card available for the 18-hole course. The course itself is good! There's a mix of par-3, -4, -5s, there are 4 tee boxes to hit from, and some holes have you hitting over water. There are bathrooms throughout the course and some ball cleaners too. The landscaping overall could use some love. The cart paths were bumpy, varying terrains, and at times would just disappear. If you hit anywhere off of the fairway you'll be hitting off of rock hard dirt or patchy dead grass and sticks. There are old, abandoned balls everywhereeeee. read more

Not a very well maintained golf course. Lots of dry patches scattered all over. Tee times get pretty backed up as well. Some kid playing behind us almost took us out and didn't yell fore. I recently accompanied my fiancé to Swenson Golf Course for a round, with a tee time at 3:30 p.m. Everything was going smoothly until around 5:45 p.m. when our golf cart died at hole 15. I tried calling Swenson for a replacement cart, but no one answered, which was frustrating. I understand they close at 5:30 p.m., but you'd think they'd still have someone available to help players still on the course. Thankfully, we were paired with a friendly golfer who let us ride with him to finish the last three holes--though my fiancé had to hang on to the back of the cart for dear life! Overall, the course itself was great, but the cart situation was a letdown. Hopefully, they improve their after-hours support for golfers. read more

Cart died so they had to drop off a new cart to me on hole 12 . I left my rangefinder in the cart. I told him I left my rangefinder they told me that things move around when they tow carts. My rangefinder was never found, and I know for a fact, it did not fall off the cart as I had very big bumps while I was driving. read more

The golf course is in great shape. The Snack bar is a dump, dirty equipment all around the building, the inside of the snack bar is not clean, they constantly run out of beverages, the outside tables are nice but never organized. For a food and beverage establishment it needs to be cleaned up so it looks presentable. read more

Excellent courses, Swenson has two courses. One Executive 9 hole , and a Championship Par 72. Both very well maintained. A full practice facility, Driving range, large putting green, and a large chipping green. A Cafe that is as good as it gets. Serving breakfast, Lunch and after golf round snacks and beverages. A great outdoor Patio with covered cabanas, tables with umbrellas and a view only a golf course can claim. The Patio overlooks the practice putting and chipping green. Also overlooking the #1Tee. I've played here many times over the last ten years. The course conditions have gotten a lot better, especially the greens. A lot of the trees have been thinned out or trimmed back. With that being said, the prices have also gone up. There's plenty of parking and there's both an executive 9 hole course and a full 18 hole course. I believe they even do frisbee golf here, but I've never played it. The carts haven't improved over the years and some definitely need some work. They blocked off the patio area and added outdoor tables and seats... some covered. It's a nice set up. You can definitely get lower prices by booking online through a reservation website or their website. Walk-in prices are higher even if you reserve by phone...so don't do that! Made a tee time online and reserved 2 carts. After driving from Sacramento to try a new golf course we had never golfed at before we were disappointed to be told they had no carts or push carts! Super impressed by this par 27 nine hole exec course at Swenson Park GC. Maybe from all this years 2023 rain, this beautiful course is lined with amazing park views with trees, ponds and lush green everywhere. While most holes are under 200 yards, the track is laid out perfectly as you take in all the surroundings. Even the greens Rolled pretty good. Problem is the Flagstick's aren't colored for hole placement. Amazing price to for $21. Can't wait to play the full 18 hole GC next door to the par three course. read more

Hello, we played your course yesterday 3/23/25 and I have tell you it was an absolute disaster! When we first arrived there were no power carts available for us making our tee time late while we sat and waiting for one to come off the 18th green. While waiting we decided to hit range balls. Could we, NOPE. Range closes at noon on Sundays. JOKE. We finally got a cart and tee'd off. The play was painstakingly slow and we made it 7 holes before our cart died and we had to call and have another brought out. This took nearly 30 minutes to accomplish. We talked to the young kids running the place this day and I told them that they need to talk to their management and get this place in order. Their response, we don't have any management. Clearly obvious from what occurred! We played out the front side and left as the pace was so slow and there was no marshal to help push groups. The group in front of us were playing and hitting like 3 balls off every tee. Ever since you all upped your prices to a ridiculous amount this place has gone downhill. I now know why. We will NOT be coming back out here again and I am sharing this experience and encouraging others to place elsewhere all over social media. I hate to see a course close (city) or not get play but this place clearly needs attention and it is not getting it! read more

Memorial Day nightmare no clue of what is going on..no cart folks slow pace 30 mins on 13th hole stacked twosome then foursome then another twosome. Had nothing but hype coming in. They only thing that was decent were the greens. It was like playing golf in a park, nothingv manicured or anything resembling a fairway, just a little of mud and hard pack. When asking about it the young kid at the desk was pretty rude about it and said they have no longer done it since it didn't get a great response and that it had been months maybe even a year since it was there. I was in town visiting friends and wanted to get some quick swings in at a range. I saw Swenson's had a some web notes about a new range area. I got a bucket of balls and headed to the range. It was mats only but likely because the mats were better than the weed patch for grass. I never saw a worse bucket of range balls. Several had smiles, many had the dimples worn off. The mats were soaked wet, spongy and way below average. No range markers. I was happy to leave. read more

We went here for a father and son golf activity and we are so disappointed in this place! Crappy service, crappy head pro, very crappy greens. I guess you get what you pay for... CRAP! It's so busy they don't even have a system to keep the game flowing smoothly and except to wait along time for your hole to clear up! The head pro even came up to us and said the kids aren't allowed to play lol!! Then why did they give the kids clubs to use? I've been here 3 times and each time I hope it gets better but it doesn't. This place needs to close or get their act together. Spend the extra cash and go to a professional run golf course! You'll be happier. If you like the challenge of long par 4's, then this is the place to test your game! The fairways are lined with valley oaks and create a tunnel effect on many of the longer holes, but in particular numbers 15 and 16 along the back nine present a unique challenge. Overall, the course is fun and in fair to good condition. The greens are moderate speed, however they tend to be sandy at times and play differently from morning to late afternoon. Bring water to hydrate if you are playing in the afternoon as it can get really warm (this is still the Valley, even with giant oak trees providing shade). The par 3's are long even for the steady player and strong iron play is recommended if you are to score in the low 80's. Anyway, this is a great course for locals and I highly recommend Swenson especially when they have the special deals for $10 to walk, usually on Tuesday and Thursday. Call to make sure as they seem to create specials from the hip from time to time! read more

This course is not worth your time or money. I joined three friends and used the coupons from Golf Moose, which reduced our fees to $17/each including carts. I thought we would at least get our monies worth. But I was wrong. The majority of the course is covered with squirrel borrowing holes, poorly watered areas, and greens that suffer from "bendoveritis." It is a disease where golfers cannot bend over to fix even one pitch mark! With multiple pitch marks on every green, the local patrons must care very much about their public course. Maybe it is time the City of Stockton find another use for the land. read more

Swenson Park Golf Course has both a regular 72-par 18-hole course and a 9 hole executive course. The courses are in good condition for a municipal course, and the fees are very reasonable. Rates on weekends are higher. The course offers lower greens fees in the afternoon. There are a few water holes, and many fairways are lined with trees. The prior reviewer was talking about kids from Lincoln High School which is across the street. Although they are not supposed to, some hang out in Swenson Park. The Park is next to but separate from the executive course. Golfers won't even notice these kids unless they look to the right on hole number three in the executive course. read more

Most recently played at Swenson on 1/19/14. Greens were in great condition, fairways were a little hit and miss. Please understand this is a muni course, so you are not going to feel like you are at a country club or private golf course. The green fees were fairly inexpensive for a Sunday compared to the other golf courses in town. The reason for the 4 stars is the value. Its a flat course, lots of tree-lined fairways, and straight-forward golf. We easily walked 18 holes in about 3h 45m (we played during the football games on purpose). For people just starting out or just want to play a quick 9 holes, there's a Par 3 course. Something new they introduced a few months back is Foot golf, which is also played on the Par 3 course, but with a soccer ball (or any ball you can kick). Great way to get someone out on a golf course without having to brings clubs, equipment, etc. Grew up playing this course, as most people in Stockton did. read more
