Looks like you have to reserve picnic sites but plan accordingly, I rode up on a Garden Club having a flower show in one of the buildings, I went in and was welcomed with open arms. The flowers were amazing! Their meeting was going to start so I left and rode over to the beautiful rose garden! Highly recommend

We paid $6 per vehicle. This park has different areas of picnic areas. The shelter type areas are reserved areas. You'll have to rent these in advanced. If you have a large party with the inflatable jump houses, you'll need reservations as well. For the smaller areas of picnic tables, it's first come first serve kind of thing. Driving around the park is pretty. You'll have to pay close attention for the curvy roads and one way signs. Inside this park, there's a Micke Grove zoo! I heard it's a small one but we didn't have time to check it out. There's also a Japanese Garden. We're very intrigued and will have to come back to check it out. There is also Fun Town, an 18 hole disc golf, water play feature, a lake, and much more. I am sure I've left out quite a bit. You'll have to check out their website for the latest updates and information. Overall, we enjoyed our day here!!

Unfortunately, dog parents are not good about picking up after their dogs even though dog poop bags are provided along with plenty of trash cans throughout park. Also, some dog parents are not experienced so sometimes dogs will show dominance and not be corrected. It's unfortunate that a few bad people can ruin the experience for the rest of us considerate responsible dog owners!!

Things to like about Beckman Park as a dog park (big dog area): (1)HUGE. Your pup can run and run…read moreand run. (2) Shade. Plenty of trees on the upper areas of the park for those days when your pup wants to run but you want to loaf in the shade. (3) Huge. Yes, I know I already said it was huge, but it really is. (4) Poop bag dispensers near each of the entry gates. (5) Some users are good citizens - putting found toys (balls, discs, etc) near the gates for their owners to find, randomly filling the water bowls, etc. Things where Beckman Park could be better: (1) Both entries to the large dog area are single gates, so it's easy for dogs to slip past others trying to get in/out, and escape out to the street. (2) The poop bag dispensers are not always stocked, so bring a bag or two of your own, just in case. (3) Some dog owners do not pick up after their dogs, so lawn grenades can be a problem. (4) The park is bisected into an off-leash area and a leashed area, but the dividing line is not fenced. It IS marked by a sign, but my dog can't read. (5) There is no water available in the big dog area for dogs. Hence, the good citizens who provide water randomly. Most of the owners - and dogs - using this park are friendly and easy going. If your dog gets a little rambunctious, a sincere apology is usually all it takes to clear the air. Dogs being dogs, they like to sniff each others' butts and chase each other around, and most owners seem to understand that.

There are a good handful of rental spots when it comes to table areas. There are a lot of geese and ducks so be careful where you step throughout your visit. There is some permitted fishing with license as an option. I thought that certain areas walking through the trails could have been a little bit more maintenance especially with trash, cans and benches to sit down on that are located throughout. They do not permit dogs to be on the trails, but throughout we notice that was ignored as there were a lot of dog markings left and not picked up by the owners. There are also a few playgrounds and restroom areas located throughout, as well as what look to be like a little hall that you could rent with a deck access. if you're ever interested in doing the trails, both of them together were just under 2 miles long. This location was very close to home so therefore convenient they have a nature center but it's only open on Saturdays and there's also a little informational booth located explaining a little more about the nature center. decent spot to have birthday parties or celebrations staged here. There's also an amphitheater that seats about 400.

There's a horse arena...a really big one with stands for the audience, plenty of places to explore and trail walk, lots of local wild flowers in bloom (watch out we did find a few patches of poison oak-"leaves of 3, let it be")! There's a lovely picnic area, many playgrounds for the kids, a baseball diamond and much more. We were fortunate enough to have our camp cooks on site for a remarkably good lunch with entrees consisting of a sun dried tomato pasta, bbq chicken with a ricotta cheese topping, pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, and a baby greens salad with cherry tomatoes; dessert cookies that were "out of this world" (smores-oatmeal and raisin & chocolate chip) Camp folks really know how to put on a good spread. Host your next event in Ione if you need lots of space, need to accommodate lots of people and would like a beautiful and nature filled venue!

It is really great place to start playing without having to deal with losing your discs in some thick underbrush. I don't visit this course as much as it doesnt require any real technical shots. There are some trees blocking some of the holes from the bad but nothing that would be considered too difficult. It really is a great place to bring out someone new to the game. There are some issues as others have mentioned. Due to the lack of trees there isnt really much cover and it can get pretty hot during the day. There are also issues with lack of maintenance. This site is actually also an overflow parking lot on holes 4 through 9 during major events. At the time of this review, hole 4 was actually removed and there is some construction material around. It definitely is a good starter course but there will be a point where you will start to visit the more popular courses in the Sacramento Area. Ill occasionally come out here for distance throwing and trying out some new discs without fear of losing them!

It's as basic as basic can get. It's moderately well maintained which is nice. It's little more…read morethan a practice course but it's nice to have this option minutes from my residence. It's never crowded. In fact it'll rare to even see one or two others partaking in a round. There are no water features and it's completely flat. Most of the holes have grass or groomed weeds. There are a couple that have rough landing areas with dirt and rock that can tear up your disc. On these I usually pull out a disc that works just for this purpose. The course can get a little swampy in spots during the wi tee time. Parking is free and abundant. It's a really nice old park and having a disc golf course as a part of the park is certainly a welcomed feature. I hope at some point the city puts a few dollars into making the course a more desirable layout. I don't think that's likely as it's used for overflow parking when the park hosts the occasional large draw events like the western festival. I just left the course but will add a few pictures next time time I'm out for a round.
