This park offers huge off leash areas for your dog to play and even one specifically for small dogs. We usually let our small dog play in one of the many large areas where bigger dogs are, but on quiet days or days when she's a little more tired, we bring her to the small dog area and she has a blast there too. There are public restrooms and lots and lots of green grass and trees. They offer pet waste bags and there is plenty of room to roam, so even if you have a dog that doesn't come to the park for socialization, there will still be plenty of area for them to run free and have a little solitary fun! There is street parking with good proximity to the many entrances and the fences and gates are secure so you can feel safe. We have never had any issues with other dogs or other pet owners and I highly recommend checking out this park if you have a dog.

There's a horse arena...a really big one with stands for the audience, plenty of places to explore and trail walk, lots of local wild flowers in bloom (watch out we did find a few patches of poison oak-"leaves of 3, let it be")! There's a lovely picnic area, many playgrounds for the kids, a baseball diamond and much more. We were fortunate enough to have our camp cooks on site for a remarkably good lunch with entrees consisting of a sun dried tomato pasta, bbq chicken with a ricotta cheese topping, pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, and a baby greens salad with cherry tomatoes; dessert cookies that were "out of this world" (smores-oatmeal and raisin & chocolate chip) Camp folks really know how to put on a good spread. Host your next event in Ione if you need lots of space, need to accommodate lots of people and would like a beautiful and nature filled venue!

He also had some loners too! I thought that was super awesome! So I just started tossing money at him. It is really great place to start playing without having to deal with losing your discs in some thick underbrush. I don't visit this course as much as it doesnt require any real technical shots. There are some trees blocking some of the holes from the bad but nothing that would be considered too difficult. It really is a great place to bring out someone new to the game. There are some issues as others have mentioned. Due to the lack of trees there isnt really much cover and it can get pretty hot during the day. There are also issues with lack of maintenance. This site is actually also an overflow parking lot on holes 4 through 9 during major events. At the time of this review, hole 4 was actually removed and there is some construction material around. It definitely is a good starter course but there will be a point where you will start to visit the more popular courses in the Sacramento Area. Ill occasionally come out here for distance throwing and trying out some new discs without fear of losing them!

But alas, I'm an awkward adult with no sense of my arm position when I'm attempting to send my disc off and away. I guess I'll be working on that on the 2-3 practice baskets near the shop and first tee. My SO bought me my first set of discs taught me to throw on a humid, flat, palm-tree infested South Florida course. Complete with swamps. This course, in comparison, is a dream. With slight hills to challenge your height of release (or my lack thereof), curves and branches to bring out your flick (or my lack thereof), and rivers of mud to straight tomahawk your brand new discs into (oh yeah), I loved this course. It has 18 holes that we broke up into 2 days of fun - the rain really drives away the crowds, and we happily played through without fear of holding up the parties behind us. Because there was not a single day we came where this park wasn't filled with regulars, not even at 8am. The dedication is real. Final 9, the organization behind this park and another in Rocklin, has a shop onsite. As we didn't have any gear, we had a grand old time picking out drivers, midranges, and putters from the dozens of options. There are handy charts and seasoned DG'ers who can help you out, or you can just pick pretty colors that match their adorable names. My new putter is a mint green Whale. Bonus: you can rent a mid-range from the gentleman behind the desk for $2 and a form of ID for collateral. It's less fun that way though, because you don't get the fear of saying goodbye to your muddy Archangel as he flies towards traffic on a particularly bad toss. There are plenty of benches at every teepad, and the tee map is well taken care of. It's clear that the community out here is more dedicated to their sport than we're used to, and I'm a little in love. They even host competitions on this course, if I read the flyer right! I'm going to practice some more first, though.
