Oh, man! What a find! I loved this place. Have driven past for years, but only stopped in the other night. Good coffee, outstanding pie, and portions were generous for the price. Waitress was a doll. Horrible experience today! We have been here before, but after today we will not go back! There was a wait when we got there and after we got seated and ordered coffee, we heard thrre would be a wait. What we were not told was that one cook called in sick and we would wait an hour for BREAKFAST! The hostes, who just walked around and did nothing, should have told us before being seated to let us make the decision. We had a meeting to go to that we were late for. My boyfriend and I were both craving diner food the other day and heard very good reviews about this diner. We decided to do a pick up order. I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe, while my boyfriend wanted 3 eggs scrambled with a side of taylor ham. It comes with home fries, choice of toast, and the chef/owner even gave us a big side of fresh cut fruit. The chef/owner was very kind, asked us if there was anything else we needed and if we were doing alright despite the virus going around, and thanked us numerously for our support. Businesses like these are the type we need, and generous/kind people like him are also what we need more of in the world today. It never costs you to be kind to others. The food was absolutely delicious - nice and hot. Crispy fries, and my burger, which I asked to be medium rare, was spot on! Thank you so much for whipping us up some good food. Decided to try out this Diner after years of passing by. Was very disappointed: waitress was so unfriendly and disappeared a few times...and it wasn't busy at all. Food was ok but the butter was sour and 1/2 way through our meal we spotted a cockroach on our table...horrible. When paying the person at the desk acted like we were,bothering him because we wanted to pay, felt very unwelcome. Overall don't waste your money, staff need a lesson in manners an professionalism and place needed to be, fumed for roaches. read more

Not good...had a bacon cheeseburger. Bacon was deep fried to the point of no return. Burger was thin and the onion rings shared the same torturous bath in the deep fryer. The service was good sweet old woman they just need to fire the cook or take burgers off the menu. read more

Tried Andover Diner tonight for the first time with my family. The food was surprisingly good, but our server barely checked in on us. The women's bathrooms were also foul, with all three stalls out of order. Unacceptable in my opinion for a food establishment. read more

I've been visiting this Diner every month. I have my Mom that lives 5 minutes in the Rehab Center from the Diner. We drive an hour away each month to come and have a wonderful lunch! The food is great, well cooked, the waiters are always very nice. We always get a large fork full of food, so there is always enough to have for 2-3 days extra! The plates always have a nice presentation! My Grandma and I visit each month, and she loves the Diner so much as I do! My staff that takes us each month, loves it! In my modest travels around New Jersey, I've driven by the Andover Diner many times. After I stopped for food with some friends, all of us wished we had just kept on driving. The atmosphere is that of a common townie diner, though much shinier. By this, I mean there's so much chrome and mirrors that practically every surface reflects light. This sounds nice, but it in fact gets to be very distracting. However, this is a minor offense compared to the food. We ordered an assortment of traditional diner food: chicken fingers in a basket, a buffalo chicken wrap, and an open-faced turkey sandwich. While we were waiting, we sipped on our drinks and commented to each other about how the fountain drinks tasted like they were pre-watered down. As we're not big on sweet drinks, it was fine, just a little unexpected. When the food came, it looked delicious. The portions were slightly genereous for the price, and everything looked delicious. I can't stress that word: looked. Tucking into my open-faced turkey sandwich, I found the gravy to be lukewarm and bland. Unfortunately, when I dug down deeper to the actual meat, I found it was not only deli-style turkey, but also amazingly as bland as the gravy. My friends tried their own lukewarm food, and everyone made the same comment: the food had very little flavor. It was like someone had taken ingredients that looked like food, made our dishes, then watched as we ate the faux food. If we hadn't been starving, we wouldn't have eaten as much as we did. Unfortunately, when I asked a few other friends and relatives about what happened to me, they say they had similar (or worse) experiences there. So as shiny and iconic as this diner is, it will only remain a postcard rather than a staple in my diet. read more

New owner as of this year and you can tell how much better it is. Food is fresh and seasoned well. The croutons on the salad is home made and out of this world. The pork chops are seasoned incredibly well, and the crab cakes are the some of the best I've had ever. There's a very welcoming feel as soon as you walk in, and the owner Luis and his wife Alison make you feel like you're at home! I recommend this diner to all! read more

Best Diner in Sussex County. I would have given it 5 Stars but for some reason, they removed the best dish they had from the menu. The Chicken Saltambocca was to die for. And it's no longer offered. But the food is great. Home made soup, and great staff. The little red diner is worth the trip every time I visit the area. read more

Great classic diner feel, but the service was dreadful and the food was just ok. My son ordered breakfast and was happy with it, but my turkey club was made from what tasted like packaged turkey and not fresh. My husband was missing two sides but the waitress never checked in us....ever! I finished the tiny soda before my food came and wanted a refill, the owner stood very close to our table the entire time and never inquired how things were. We left feeling ignored...such bad service ruined what would have been a pretty good experience since the nostalgic atmosphere was winning over the ok food. read more

OMG this is the absolute worst diner everrrrrrrrrr! The food is just bad. well let me clarify. I got a turkey burger. It had a bad taste, like it was old and frozen. With it I ordered an unsweetened iced-tea. Have you ever drank old juice or iced tea that you knew it just wasn't right? Well this just wasn't right it was definitely old. Kids got grilled cheese, that was not to bad. but how can you really mess that up. One positive.... The fries were not bad. I ate there a long time ago but forgot how bad it was. Now I remember. My experience was the same. Another positive, people working there were nice enough. My opinion is don't order anything that can be frozen and thawed besides fries and other obvious foods like that. read more

Very uneven. Quality and presentation varies from good to "why did I choose this place". Breakfast is ok but that meal is hard to screw up.

Better than I thought. We were a party of six. Buffalo wings were good. We also had the Greek salad, grilled chicken Cesar, & Cobb salad.

Happened on this diner a few weeks ago -- and I have returned two times more. The French onion soup is superb -- as is the service. Andy, the owner and host, has movie star good looks -- and is VERY attentive to his customers. Have only had lunch here, but will try breakfast and dinner in the future. read more

Had the sirloin steak, it was dry and tough. It was way overcooked, got no comp. Shoe leather would have tasted better.

I've been to the diner a few times with my family; the food is good; nothing to die for but it's always welcome when your craving the classics. The staff is usually friendly if a bit scarce sometimes when there aren't many people in the diner - but overall it's a nice place to go if you're driving through. read more
