I've lived in the area for awhile, and on occasion will stop in to Andalus in the evening for a frozen yogurt. No complaints there at all. The pizza however is the grossest thing I've ever encountered. It's not edible. For starters it was the furthest thing from a Buffalo Chicken pizza you could imagine. It was a cheese pizza with some pre-cooked over-cooked chicken tossed on top with some hot sauce. The toppings immediately slid off the pizza, making it impossible to pick up. $20 for a small 12" pizza and a bottled juice. I feel sick from the one slice that I ate. Coming here was a mistake that I will not be making again - even for frozen yogurt. Great way to lose a customer. Pizza is in your name - How do you mess it up that badly? read more

I just had a calzone from Andalus and it was very good. I usually avoid takeout because, frankly, most takeout food is disappointing, generates a lot of plastic trash, and is often rough on my stomach. But in this case I'm happy about the choice. The vegetables calzone had a homemade feel, plus a special flavor. Service was pleasant and efficient. I'd say Andalus punches above its weight compared to more visible places on Beacon St and other busier streets, considering its location which is more hidden. So, my love for Andalus just keeps growing. I thought the breakfast sandwiches were good until I met the BBQ Flatbread pizza, aka my new husband. I've ordered him a couple of times just to make sure it wasn't a fluke or something. He is fo' real! He is supposedly 400 calories which i am skeptical about because he is HUGE ifyaknowwhatimean. I can house half of one of these bad boys but the other half comes with me to go. The first time I ordered the flatbread and payed my $8 i felt like a chump. Since it was advertised as less than 400cals I really thought it was going to be like 4 inches in diameter. When the beast of a pizza was delivered to me, I was really surprised. It's a tortilla'ish crust covered in cheese, bbq sauce, reduced fat cheese, and tomatos. I like adding onions on there too, my husband doesn't seem to mind my breath. The pizza is not fancy, it's not artisanal, it's not trying to be anything except, good, solid take-out pizza. And I respect that. I'm not saying that you should go out of your way to get Andalus pizza. But if you're in the area, and want a pie, this should be your spot. The last thing I'll say is that I came here on a Friday night once and knew that I was driving to Vermont early the next morning. The quality of food has gone way downhill, and it's still $25-$30 for a sandwich, fries, and a drink. The fries they used to have, and still advertise are not the same, which should probably be illegal. They used to be golden and crispy, now they're bland and white like grocery store frozen fries. The pizza is tasty, the crust is firm enough to be texturally pleasing but not super tasty, the sauce is inoffensive and the cheese is real. The prices too are totally reasonable, not a steal nor a ripoff and the takeout service consists of "what's your name" and "here you go." The girl and I have ordered a lot over the years. Always been our go to, not so much because its that amazing but its consistent and close. Why the sudden drop to one star? The last delivery we ordered was what we expected. What we didn't expect is the next night the delivery driver started TEXTING my girlfriend asking for tit pics and to come over to his place. I called him using her phone and his suave player voice quickly hung up when he realized he was talking to an enraged boyfriend. I called foodler and the local PD, but since no crime was committed they can't do anything. So, this human stain now has my girls number (which we are changing) AND our address. Apart from football games and great friends, etc. etc., Andalus Pizza and Cafe - formerly (and forever) known as Angora to me - has been one of the best parts of attending Boston College for the past four years. If you haven't tried it yet, don't miss out any longer! Here's why: 1. The food is great, and quite inexpensive: you can get a freshly made personal pizza or salad, and top it off with frozen yogurt, for $10-$15 including tax and tip. 2. Free delivery! I am not originally from the Boston area, so the concept of getting any and everything delivered is still new to me. Suffice it to say that between 8 housemates, the Angora delivery guy would make at least one trip a day to our house last year - we felt as if we should send along a change-of-address card when we moved down the road this past fall. They are pretty quick too - we've never had to wait long. 3. It's generally awesome. My personal favorites are the fresh mozzarella and tomato salad with a pesto/vinagrette dressing and frozen yogurt with raspberries and white chocolate chips (though you can order any toppings imaginable). I live in the neighborhood of Andalus and go here all the time. The staff is really friendly! They have a great breakfast deal with coffee, an omelette, and home fries, and it's so good! Their spinach and feta omelette is amazing. I'm a big fan of Greek Style Pizza, so this is one of my favorite pizza places in Boston. Their Spicy Eagle Pizza and margherita pizza are both very good. Angora--er, Andalus--is a staple of mine. The number is in my phone, I know several of the delivery guys by name, and they are always cheerful when I call in to place an order. Discovering Andalus during my sophomore year at BC was fabulous, and they've been my go-to for delivery ever since. **Fro-Yo is amazing. I always opt for chocolate with Heath bits and coconut. My boyfriend, who adores fro-yo, is not fond of their strawberry (he says it tastes artificial?), but I tell him he's nuts and we order anyways. ;) **Make Your Own Salad: I will never understand what they do to a salad that I can't do at home, but I cannot recreate their salads. They have endless toppings options (I go with artichoke hearts, spinach, sundried tomatoes, chicken, and carrots), and they are always perfect. **Flat Bread Pizzas: These are low-cal and easy to enjoy. We love the BBQ Chicken (now, come to think of it, I might have that for dinner tonight). The service can drag at times, usually if you're opting for delivery, but it's always worth the wait and there has been a time or two where I got free food out of it. I love this place! read more

I remeber when Angora's further up on Comm Ave was a tiny aisle restaurant with plenty of gourmet "college-themed" sandwiches, such as bbq chicken, roasted chicken with pesto and mozzarella, or various hammed-up meats on a crusty toasted baguette dressed with boursin spread. Those were the days of my first loves (bf and food affair). Now it's a bit generic with huge open, impersonal flooring. This place is just frustrating. As much as I like their smoothies and frozen yogurt combinations, the service is consistently abysmal and they have one of those awful rulings that in order to use a credit card you must spend 7 dollars. And let me tell you, that is not entirely legal to specify a minimum order to use cards on. When these places sign contracts to use cards from the credit card companies, they stipulate not to run minimum charge requirements. In terms of the poor service, I often walk up to the counter and the employees carry on with their busywork and conversation as if I'm invisible! They are in their own world. Then once I order it takes several more minutes for anyone to actually start making my smoothie. The one time it was made, but then for several minutes it just sat in the blender before being poured. It's not even that busy (which would explain the odd delays). Its never is all that busy. This is all the more irritating considering the fact that they practically have a troupe of employees working at any given time. However, and this is a slightly embarrassing admission, I have ordered delivery from them several times. I can just picture them laughing as they consider whether to bother getting in the car or not, but sometimes you just don't want to go out the door. It's these times that Andalus is my savior. Everything there is great. Calamari, pizzas, cheese sticks, calzone, smoothie... whatever - order and you will be pleased. This is my standard lunch place, although I usually get the same thing: A turkey sandwich on ciabatta bread, with lettuce, tomatoes, american cheese, hot peppers, honey mustard, and avocado with salt and pepper. This sandwich is my favorite combination, and serves as a litmus test for lunch places. Although the ciabatta bread is often warm, light and flavorful, sometimes it is less fresh. The ingredients in general are decent; they use whole leaves of lettuce and and the avocado is cut fresh each time, instead of being pre-packed or pre-chopped. The frozen yogurt is terrific, they have about 50 flavors. My favorite is the York Patties, fresh and minty without being overwhelming. The cookies are soft and buttery, and I often have to actively avoid them. It's not a gourmet cafe by any means, but for something simple and fresh, made by the same two cooks every day, this small local lunchery beats anything in Cleveland Circle. I think the complete lack of ambition to be greater than it is sets this place apart: open late, no fancy menu items with cheap ingredients, a seating area which could only be described as ascetic, and quick service and inexpensive offerings. In response to Erin's review, this is the kind of place where they just might put breakfast sausage on your pizza, but it will be years before Wolfgang Puck makes it trendy. read more

I haven't tried much else but everything seems like a good price and good portion. Some people complain about the customer service but I personally think it's dependent on how well you tip. This is a good late-night, low key hangout with really good food. Andalus is open til midnight, with plenty of seating. My group ordered fries, fried zucchini, and Nutella froyo. It took some time to get the food, but it was fried right away and so good. Zucchini was alright, but those spicy fries were so yummy. BUT! It's really the froyo that was the best. One of the items was the chicken vodka pasta (my FAV dish in general) for $18!! But I was like "it's worth it, I remember getting it once before and it was a huge portion and super good", and I was so wrong. Literally everything was wrong with this pasta - over cooked and mushy linguine, bland and simultaneously somehow rancid tasting sauce, which was super liquid-y and oily. Andalus and I have a special relationship. They literally deliver faster than I could cook a frozen pizza. The delivery guy is one of the nicest people I have ever met as well. Their buffalo chicken pizza is delightful. The reason I don't give all 5 stars is that they changed their bleu cheese recently! It was perfect before! This place comes out on top when compared to the other restaurants in the area. Their pizza is good - not amazing, but definitely hits the spot, and definitely good. They have good sandwiches. There is not a ton of falafel in their falafel thing, but it is really tasty. They need to add one more blob of falafel to that sandwich, and it'll be awesome. My boyfriend likes their cheesesteak, but sometimes the meat is too rubbery for his liking. Their frozen yogurt is AWESOME. Buffalo chicken strip=nicht so gut. Don't order them. I don't know how this place stays in business, especially next store to Mashawi. Drunk, high, stupid, low standard college students from BC are the only lifeline for this dump. Fries from a bag, desserts from a box, almost nothing is made by hand, ingredients are low quality, the falafel is a hate crime to Middle Eastern food, interior is unclean and unkempt: whatever this restaurant was trying to be at some point, it has long lost its way. This place has been in my neighborhood for the 8 years I've lived here, and while I still go here every four months just to see if they've gotten their shit together, it's always a waste of $20.
