    Shrimp scampi
    Yuxuan L.

Small place. Good food. Reasonable prices. The shrimp scampi surprised me with how bright the lemon came through and it was seasoned very well. Not a big place but sometimes that's exactly what you want.

Hidden gem. Superb food. Kind staff. Good prices. I was expecting pre-cooked, warmed up tortellini but was delighted when I watched him drop the fresh pasta in the pot. The basil pesto sauce is delicious. Fresh, warmed baguette served on the side was a treat. Not to mention the delicious, authentic cannolis.

If you're in Boston gotta have Italian food. A very reasonably priced option for great Italian food is Alfredo's in Brighton. Very easy to find on a corner right on Brighton Ave. it's a one man operation with a full menu. What we like about the menu is that you can order any pasta with any sauce. This time we used DoorDash and ordered the Mongibello pizza, linguine carbonara and ravioli in meat sauce. And cannoli for dessert ;-). Everything, of course, was very tasty and well made with the freshest ingredients. Prices a super reasonable, the one dude is real nice. When we go in-person we enjoy chatting with him. Highly recommend Alfredo's for good Italian food.

    Seafood linguini

Intimate restaurant with an authentic feel that makes for fast service. Chef makes food to order and it was some of the best seafood linguini I've ever had. Recommend for a quick, delicious Italian meal

We order from Alfredo's Italian at home & work all the time and a few weeks ago I mentioned to a Co-worker go find Alfredo's and not knowing she found this place, I realized it wasnt the same but hey, we went with it... AND IM SOO GLAD WE DID... This place was SOOO much better than the Chainy little one around Boston. The food was so much more authentic and not Pizza shop like. Flavors were fresh, portions weren't as CRAZY giant as the other Alfredo's, but I would trade that for the taste any day. It was still MORE than enough food. The tortellini was insane delicious and the Shrimp was Giant & flavorful. Will definitely plan to order again!

My husband and I used to come here a lot. It's been a while since our last visit. Alredo's food is still as good as we remember, even better. Tonight, we went to Alfredo's late and we were the only customers, so we chatted with the owner, Alfredo, over random topics, which made our dinner experience as cozy as we ate at an old friend's place, very pleasant. We ordered seafood pasta with white wine sauce and marinara sauce. Both of them were great. The tiramisu was also very tasty. The place is tiny, but Alfredo offers authentic Italian food, and that's what all counts. Definitely a hidden gem in Allston/Brighton.

Great local spot. Hidden gem run by welcoming owner. The food was great and the sauce. The sauce was amazing.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, due to the great reviews and it being so close to my house. I finally was able to order delivery from here today for lunch. One thing to be aware of - they advertise free delivery on their sign and website but they actually don't deliver themselves, only through DoorDash. Onto the food- I ordered the frutti di Mare with homemade pasta, which was very good. The sauce (garlic white wine) was creamier that I expected, but was pretty good, and the seafood was fresh and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the tortellini al pesto, which was also great. He remarked that the tortellino (is that the singular?) were large. However, the sauce was a little oily. Overall, Alfredo's lived up to a majority of my expectations but wasn't as mind blowing as I'd hoped. That being said, I am excited to try other pastas and sauces here.

My friends from college have been regulars at Alfredo's for years, so the owner greeted us enthusiastically upon arrival. This was my first time, so I had high expectations based on my friends' experiences. It's a really small, hole in the wall type of place, and I definitely recommend calling ahead to check if the place will be open by the time you're there. I saw previous reviews that recommended the homemade pasta. I ordered the mussels scampi with homemade pasta and it was soooo good. The pasta was perfectly cooked. I tried all of my friends dishes as well, and I could say the quality was pretty consistent. After our meal, we also tried the homemade tiramisu and cannolis. Everything was so good that we ordered more. Although I'm not a cannoli expert, I really enjoyed the mini cannolis at Alfredo's, and I'll definitely be getting them the next time I'm there as well. Overall, Alfredo's met my high expectations. Forget the north end. 1/2 the price and equal portions--this will be my go to Italian spot moving forward.

However, I don't know that it lived up to the hype that I anticipated. We got the pizza Bianca with ricotta with hot honey, which was basically just like plain toasted focaccia and ricotta (wasn't anything to write home about). The taleggio was 100% our least favorite and we didn't even finish half. We had asked the waiter to describe taste profile, which they said was a "little funky" and had asked for clarification if it was closer to blue cheese. Once it arrived, it was like a verrrrrry strong/stinky Brie on the inside. The balsamic didn't really contribute to the taste at all. Sad that we didn't like this/kinda made me feel yucky after eating. The cavatelli was very good- nice light creamy sauce with the sausage and bitter broccolini. Very well balanced. Forgot to take a pic of the tiramisu but it was good, too! It's kinda salty (they add sea salt to the top). Drink menu was limited. Had two different glasses of red wine but wish they had something more full bodied on the menu!

Why fix something simple when it ain't broken? Sometimes places can fall into the trap of trying to do too much. Prairie Fire is one of the few that can walk that tightrope, offering a raw bar, pizzas, pastas, a burger, seafood, and more. But everything we tried was delicious. I had an eye on so much on the menu but we ultimately went with the razor clam ceviche from the raw bar, a pepperoni pizza, the Maine lobster ravioli, and the mushroom toast (a crowd favorite). My favorites were the ceviche and the mushroom toast - do not skip it. The mushrooms are cooked perfectly and they slather a layer of parmesan aioli on the bread that cooks into it. Amazing. One of my best bites of 2025. Pepperoni pizza was pretty good but I still prefer the Neapolitan style. Have to come back to try so many other things - the Maine uni toast, the burger, the trout. The sourdough ice cream was a super unique dessert. They take the leftover butts of loaves and soak it in milk/cream and the result is almost like a less sweet salted caramel. Loved the textural addition of the poached pear. We were lucky to come around 5 on a weekend evening and snag some of the remaining bar seats but when we left, the place was completely full. I am not sure which aspect was more enjoyable, but the two together made our dinner quite memorable. The location in downtown Watertown enhanced the experience as the cozy, vintage setting in the town- center strip exuded the feeling of a small local family restaurant. We made a reservation and this is recommended since the dining room offers limited capacity. Parking was a little tricky but we found a spot on the street across from the diner. Beware that you might have to exercise a bit of patience in this regard. Because of our reservation, we were seated right away. Our server attended to us quickly and did a great job of looking after us all night. My colleague, who had been to this place a few times prior to this, suggested that we start with Ida's Meatballs. It was presented as four decent-sized pieces and they were not only plentiful in portion, but also were quite tasty. For his main, he had the Short Rib Ravioli. The pasta was stuffed quite full with short rib meat. He invited me to try a bite and I thought it was excellent. I chose the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, one of my favorites on American Italian menus. It was terrific having just the right amount of kick. We topped off the meal with dessert. He had tried the Tiramisu before and insisted that I share at least a couple of bites. It was outstanding. I decided on a finisher of my own, however, with the Affogato. It was quite lovely with quality ice cream and good coffee. It provided a right-sized dessert portion for me. Overall, the bill for the two of us that included the food, a glass of wine for me (a lovely Chianti), tax and tip was close to $60 per person. For the quality of the fare, I was not unhappy with this value. I'll look forward to the chance to try this place again.
