This is my secret hidden gem of an Italian restaurant located outside of the North End! Absolutely one of my favorite spots and whenever my friend visits from out of state, this is a must-go for him! Located in Brookline, Bottega di Capri is a cozy and quaint Italian spot. The food is absolutely delicious and clearly fresh. I got the Shrimp Scampi while my friend got the tortellini with cheese and added shrimp. Honestly, everything was so tasty and flavorful, plus the portions were huge for a terrific price! I was so excited for my leftovers the next day. They were super accommodating and provided great recommendations as well. The pasta sauces were incredible -- my friend ate the bread with the sauce and said it was heavenly. Major shoutout for the great service provided by Jimmy as well, he was so friendly and caring! It made this meal feel extra homey. (He even packaged my pasta to go for me to make sure I didn't spill on my dress I was wearing). I have been to Bottega di Capri many times - this was my most recent visit! The restaurant is such a treasure located right off Brookline Village. It has a very cozy and unique feel, with a casual yet romantic atmosphere. The menu is set up to mix and match any pasta type and sauce - we ordered the penne pesto rosa (my favorite), caprese, and the fettuccine alfredo. The prices went up a couple dollars since our last visit but it's still affordable and big portions! It can get packed on a weekend night and seating can be a little squishy. They offer complimentary bread and butter upon arriving. Perfect for a casual and intimate date night, dinner with friends, or any occasion! This place is a hidden gem that more people need to discover. The restaurant itself is very small but we were able to find a table for dinner Saturday without a wait. The owner was very friendly and took our orders himself. Calamari for an app was a great portion, slightly overcooked, but I was overall happy with it. We all ordered pasta dishes and absolutely loved them. There's a long list of sauces that you can pair with your pasta choice- I got the lobster ravioli with Roasantini sauce... DELICIOUS. A fair portion, a great price, and I finished the whole plate without feeling bloated and uncomfortable. I tried each guests' sauce and I would be very excited to try to Pesto Alfredo sauce next time I come. In town for a conference and wanted to find a good place to have a team dinner. Came across this gem! The staff is soo friendly, make you feel welcome and the place is super cozy. It was perfect. Didnt have to wait too long for the food and got seated right away. We were able to have a great conversation without having to yell at each other. Definitely not for big groups. This is some of the worst Italian food I've ever tasted - I could literally make better myself. Their "sauces" are just crushed tomatoes from a can or heavy cream poured over pasta. My friend ordered a pasta with asparagus, pancetta, and sun dried tomatos, but it only came with literally one small piece of asparagus, no pancetta, two pieces of chicken (????) and really watery cream sauce. Pasta super overcooked - fell apart on my fork. My "spicy arrabiata" sauce was literally just crushed tomatoes from a jar in water and was extremely bland (not spicy at all). The "bruschetta" was just like they took some slice of sourdough or something from stop and shop, put their same watery jarred tomatoes from the sauces, put some tiny, stale mozzarella slices on it and called it bruschetta. The whole meal felt like we ordered from the kids' menu. I honestly don't know how the reviews are so good, as I've had a bad experience similar to this multiple times now. Brookline is in need of a good Italian place badly, but honestly I'd recommend going into Boston instead. read more

Guys, we absolutely love this place! The service was amazing and the guy was so excited to talk to us. He even invited us to come back another day. The food was relatively inexpensive but it was really good quality. It came out hot, the portions were generous, and we really enjoyed it. We were the only customers in the shop at the time. The owner ended up pulling out a speaker and playing french (maybe italian) coffee shop ambiance music which really added to the good vibes of the place. One of the rare instances in which the service elevates the food. Judging only the dishes we got, I'd rank Bottega di Capri as closer to 3 stars but our waiter was so kind and grandfatherly and came by often with water refills/to see how we were doing. I can see why this place is popular in the neighborhood. Good for families, but if you're a large group, come here early. The space is small and they don't take reservations. By far the best things we ordered were the pastas - the seafood risotto and the linguine with scallops, clams, and shrimp. The risotto was fluffy and creamy and permeated with the briny seafood. Presentation was a little slapdash but the taste was undeniable. Overall, the prices were insanely affordable, almost pre-inflation levels - our seafood pastas were each less than $20. I wouldn't recommend the Caesar salad. Though the salad had wonderful, thick shavings of Parmesan, the dressing tasted store-bought. The house bread was also on the stale side. Don't skip the tiramisu. Not sure if they make it in house but it was one of the better iterations of the dessert I've had. Visiting Boston from out of town and stumbled across this place in a local article and realized it was near our hotel. From the moment we walked in the service was great! Who we assumed to be the owner/manager of the establishment found us a seat right away even though it was a busy Friday night. The food was delicious! A small neighborhood restaurant on Harvard Street next to a few shops. I came here on a Wednesday night for dinner and by 6pm the place was fully packed. The servers were really kind and didn't rush us to order while we waited for our whole party to come. I ordered spaghetti in cream sauce with chicken, bacon, peas, and arugula. I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta and finished it all. The pasta was cooked al dente and the peas still had a small crunch to them. The serving portion is just enough to feel full, but not stuffed. For dessert, we shared a piece of chocolate cake, which was standard. The frosting was sweet and had a good chocolate flavor to it. Cutest little Italian restaurant. Not a lot of seating, but we got there late on a Thursday night and were sat right away. Fresh bread and butter as soon as we sat down really hit the spot. The seafood portion of my dinner was worth 4 stars with perfectly cooked and seasoned scallops and shrimp but the pasta was overcooked, not al dente. The inside of the restaurant wasn't anything jaw dropping was inviting. It wasn't overdone, in fact, it hadn't been 'done' in sometime, it had lots of character. In front is where the deli part of this restaurant takes care of that part of the business. I ate a piece of chocolate cake while my "small" pollo sandwich was as being made. It was a tad bit dry by delicious nonetheless. When I saw the sandwich I thought there had been some sort of mistake because it was so big. The gentleman in the front who rang me out told me that's how the italians do it. Definitely gave me a chuckle. I'd have to say this sandwich was so simple yet so tasty and it was my first time, in years, that I had finished a sandwich that i've ordered out, in one sitting. It had the perfect ratio of all ingredients. It had the perfect moisture and dryness (not really but the bread didn't have much moisture at all) which balanced this sandwich in the best way possible. I would definitely go back and want to go back to try their other dishes. Such a lovely, homey little Italian gem in Brookline! Stumbled across this restaurant in search for dinner and ended up having the loveliest meal. They always start with bread and butter (cold, not the best part of the meal but great for later scooping up the sauce!) For our entrees we had the pasta amalfitana which was a delicious creamy pasta with chicken, prosciutto, spinach and roasted peppers. The chicken was beautifully seasoned and cooked and the dish overall was rich and hearty. Such a cute little spot with great pasta. My friend and I went for lunch on a friday afternoon and seating was available. It's a small space with about 5-7 tables. We were greeted promptly and told to take menus and pick a seat. It's a casual place and prices are good. Many pasta options and the ability to "build your own." I got one of their cream based sauces and the plate of pasta I received was huge but I ate the entire thing. They have water, some sanpellegrino, and not much else for drinks but really a cute fast casual pasta place which is exactly what I crave often. read more
