HOW is this non dairy is my only question about this spot. Their ice cream is so flavorful without being overly sweet, and the texture has such a decadent creaminess while being light and satisfying. This location is quite small and more of a grab and go option, and their service is quick but not overly friendly. Besides this, I would come back for more every week (if it wasn't so pricey tbh), but the price reflects the quality ingredients and it's about the same as other ice cream spots in the city. Always stop at Fomu when I am in Boston. They are 100% vegan but also 100% enjoyable. So many different fun options and also lots of gluten free options as well. It is a bit pricey but it is a nice treat. This location is close to time out market so can walk over for dessert after eating. Obsessed with Fomu! I'm so bummed they closed a lot of their locations, particularly the Alston store but I came to this one to get a birthday cake. The storefront is very small but I was still happy they had a good selection of cakes and baked goods. The cake was the chocolate chip cookie dough and was wonderful. I loved the creaminess of the ice cream and how each piece had a cookie piece on top. I also love the icing. I just wish they had the ability to special order or at the very least write on the cake! I love FoMu! I think it's by far the best vegan ice cream that you will find in Boston. They have so many flavors and to have it be dairy free and have other allergy friendly options (e.g., gluten free, nut free) is incredible! Most of their ice creams are coconut based and they do not disappoint. They are creamy and sweet, but not overly sweet. The flavor profiles are incredible as well. My favorite is the George Howell cold brew ice cream. But you also can't go wrong with the chocolate chip cookie dough. Their seasonal flavors are always fun to try as well, so it's worthwhile to stop by often. You can order in a size mini, small, medium, or large. I know for the small size up medium and large you can put at least two flavors, so if you're indecisive, you can mix and match! When you're in the mood for a quick treat, the mini is a perfect size. There are plenty of toppings that you can add to make a fun sundae, including your classic hot fudge to sprinkles to chocolate chips and more. Everything is vegan and plant based too. I also love that you can get a pint of the ice cream if you're looking for more. For those looking for something more fun than just a cup or cone of ice cream, they have so many vegan cookies that you can create ice cream cookie sandwiches. Also they have ice cream cakes!! Ever since I discovered FoMu pints at Whole Foods, I've been hooked on this decadent vegan ice cream. Sure, it's more expensive than many of its counterparts, but it's tops in terms of creamy texture and interesting flavor combinations. So when our group came across a FoMu shop right near Fenway Park after the game let out, we couldn't resist a sweet nightcap. Even at 9:30/10pm, the line was out the door but moved pretty quickly This bright but tiny location is really just a counter, so we grabbed our ice creams and headed to some nearby benches to enjoy at leisure. I love that their menu is labeled for everything from nuts to soy and gluten. Before I went gluten and dairy free, cookies & cream and anything with baked component in it was an automatic favorite. So when I discovered that their strawberry and rhubarb ice cream (w/ crumbled pie crust) was gluten free, I was ecstatic -- rich, tart, and sweet without going over the top. A small (or kid's size?) was just the right amount for me. Maybe because of the coconut milk base, though (and the summer heat), their ice creams tend to melt faster than their dairy-full counterparts. Love Fomu! Their grasshopper pie ice cream (mint chocolate with Oreo bits inside) is absolutely delicious with no coconut aftertaste if you're concerned with that. They used to have a bunch of unique summer flavors, but this location just had the standard chocolate/cookie dough/mint/peanut butter/coffee standard assortments, which I am not complaining about! The ice cream texture can feel a little "slimy" or "sticky" for lack of a better word, but to me it has never detracted from the flavor and overall experience. The sundae ($10) is definitely not worth it though- you get more whipped cream than you do ice cream. Just go for the med/large cups/cones to get the most out of the experience. ohmygoshhh i'm crying because I'm so happy that I found FoMu! for those who don't know, FoMu is a plant-based, diary-free (completely vegan) ice cream so my lactose intolerant self is SO happy that I can finally enjoy ice cream like a normal person without feeling bloated and sick afterwards. This is a tiny little shop in Fenway with nowhere to sit (mostly a grab and go location) - but they're pretty efficient in getting people their order and sending them off into the world with their delicious ice cream. The textures and flavors were SPOT ON and you would never guess that this is vegan ice cream. It's so thick, flavorful, and creamy. We ordered the chocolate cookie dough and the seasonal, apple cider donut and both were so sweet, so creamy, and large portion sizes (even though we ordered the kiddie size). The ice cream here is chunky and there were good bites into both the apple cider donut and cookie dough flavors - almost felt like biting into a cake, YUM! The ice cream comes with compostable cups and spoons or you can opt for the cone which I think was a pretty great and sustainable touch. It is a tad bit pricey (I think I paid around 4.50 for a kiddie size) so definitely would not come here on the regular but glad this is an option for all my vegan & lactose intolerant friends out there! read more
